I think it was one of his best! Will never forget hearing Benny On ESPN commating the race 'Where did he come from'. NASCAR only went downhill after that day.
One thing about Dale Sr. that people don't really talk about is that he had to DRAG EVERY LAST BIT of performance out of the #3 car and fight his way through the field in race after race, given that once teams like Hendrick, Penske, Gibbs, and even to a lesser extent Roush and Yates established themselves, RCR was in many respects an underdog, with a comparatively old-school approach to operations and weaker aero development program compared to rivals. This meant that the #3 of Earnhardt (and later the #29 of Harvick) often qualified poorly (due to inferior aero numbers for the cars, at least compared to other top teams) and had to start in the middle (and even towards the back) of the field, meaning Earnhardt had to gain positions, especially on restarts and over the course of green flag runs...of course in an era when dirty air was less of a factor and it was harder to do things like aero block, drivers who could carve through the field were rewarded to a greater extent as opposed to in modern NASCAR (where cars are very aero sensitive)...
He could “see the air” but it was really he could feel the air pressure change inside the car while in the draft and knew how to work the side draft better than anymore.

He bumped quite a few up into the wall and got away with it due to what looked like favoritism by NASCAR. Otherwise, he was a very capable driver and obviously could win a lot. Was he the GOAT? I'd say not - not when compared to David Pearson (best win percentage), Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, or Richard Petty.
Not saying he wasn't a very good race car driver but let's face the facts he was feared because he could get away with practically anything on the track without recourse from NASCAR and Bill France. Drivers who retaliated against him feared recourse from NASCAR and his fans. Then if my car wasn't completive enough he cried to his Bill to have the rules changed. Everyone knows it most ignore it.
Its a shame professional nascar drivers are not being paid. Teams should do the sponsorship deals and hire talented drivers. Point blank. Its professional sport. By people buying rides will kill the sport, it takes away the best talented drivers. Nascar better fix it, or its a sinking ship if it continues, it will be all about rich kids racing not talented kids racing.
Nobody can deny Earnhardt's legacy and natural skill as a driver. But we have to face facts here. He was a dirty low down driver and a bully. No two ways about it. NASCAR let him get away with murder for 2 decades. Now I don't wish illl on anyone but it was almost like it was poetic justice that he went out in a race car. Atonement for all the dirty crap he pulled over the years if you will. But at the same time I honestly don't think there was any other way Earnhardt wanted to leave this earth than behind the wheel of a race car. Regardless of his tactics which I never liked I knew how important he was to the sport of NASCAR. And he in many ways will always be the embodiment of NASCAR racing.
Never liked him, thought he was a dirty tactic driver and a sore loser...at times. I was a Bill Elliot & Rick Mears & Nigel Mansel fan. Was he a talented driver?..Of course he was. He certainly made his sport interesting, no doubt.
he would bump drivers amd put theme in the wall and say i was just raddleing there chage put in put him in the wall he was pissed and saying i think nascar needs tofine the sob for the same shit u did

There is only one The Intmidator , Ironhead 7 time champion. Legend of Nascar. - end of nascar now.
He was the most feared driver because if you wrecked him nascar find YOU.
Dale Earnhardt is The best of all time! Save The Intimidator! #3
Nascar Died with him. It became a participation trophy sport
Jimmy Johnson would have won any if dale sr. Was still there, sorry johnson fans.
NASCAR died when Earnhardt died
Nope in 2006 nascar was at it's peak
@@Vivid-197 Your not wrong about That
I think you ruined this video with the crappy engine sounds. you could have at least used real nascar sounds.... just saying.
Pass in the grass
The intimidator. The best ever no doubt.
DA MAN!!!!!!!!
Never liked him, thought he was a dirty tactic driver and a sore loser...at times. I was a Bill Elliot & Rick Mears & Nigel Mansel fan. Was he a talented driver?..Of course he was. He certainly made his sport interesting, no doubt.
He was not Dale Earnhardt!!
