yet again an awesome video...hats off to the lady captain who hand flew the aircraft so well and did such a good landing!
+Rishav Kakati Thank you for the compliments for our crew, Rishav.
waiting eagerly for the next one!!
+Rishav Kakati would you have commented the same way if she wasn't a woman ?
Hand flying a large transport category turbojet aircraft isn't an easy task for any man or woman, Its not at all like driving a small car!! Whoever does it definitely deserves admiration for developing the sheer skills required for such a task!
+Rishav Kakati Obviously, intentionally or not, you didn' understand what I've said.
seems a very complex task but that lady captain has taken everything so lightly and causally :) :)
Love all the KLM videos, very professional flight crews. Makes me wish I had become a pilot. It is also wonderful to see a beautiful, professional, accomplished woman doing this kind of work. More videos of Andrea doing an awesome job please.
+Brian Van De Merwe We are happy to hear you are so enthusiastic about our Cockpit Tales, Brian. Did you see our newest one already?
This information and illustrations done in this video was very detailed and very easy to understand. Thank you for sharing. It answered a lot of questions that i've been trying to get answers to online for along time.

Lovely! Great video KLM!
+Dutchbird757 Net als jouw naam.... Dutchbird .... Wat mis ik hun 2 757's en 3 A320's!
Top maatschappij die als ze nog bestonden zonder twijfel groter waren geweest dan Arke/Tui Nederland!
Lovely, Just like your name!
Did you get your name because of the company Dutchbird?
Anyways, it was a joy to fly with that airliner!
No doubt if it still existed, it would be a better competitor than Arke/Tui Holland.
Love this video well done again
+SydneyAirportCapturer HL Thank you again ;-)
The best video with the best music 'music' ever since my life!! The song's so intriguing that i sometimes just come and watch this video for this music lol 😜😜👍🏻

+KLM My dream is to become a pilot, just like all you!
+ErmakDimon Sounds good, Ermak. Will you let us know once your dream came true?
+KLM If you'll have applications open in 10 years, I will for sure!
KLM mijn vader heeft gevlogen bij KLM maar is nu gepensioneerd , maar ik had een vraagje is dit een b737-700/800/900? Alvast bedankt
I meet personal to andrea van dijk dancing salsa 14 years ago, so funny 😱😱😂😂😂
I've always been fascinated by flight and in awe of jet airliners. If I lived close enough to a major airport I'd spend all my free time plane spotting! However, for this video, one thought will not go away, "Where can I get that watch?!?!" 0:50.
Thanks!
Felicitaciones
But what does the pilot do with the airplane during "lift off"? Do they change the wings angle? of does the plane goes upward by itself because of the speed?
does a boeing 777, 787 need autopilot to land or can land manually
perfeito 👏👏👏👏👏✈😍
Ik vroeg me af of ik een keer in de cockpit mee zou mogen. Dat zou ik echt fantastisch vinden
I love planes and everything about them :)
+Craft Blocks Cool to hear! What's your favourite aircraft?
+KLM I like the Boeing 737 but the others are cool aswell!
A great video! What's the name of this brilliant song?
+HeadGameLP The song is composed by KLM itself!
***** Okay. It's a great theme! Looking forward to see more episodes of this :)
Nice video!
1. How do you know what angle to tilt up the plane and is there a range or it has to be specific?
2. Are the procedures for takeoff the same for any airlines at any international airport?
1. The pilots always do math and stuff with the weight and then they know at what speed they should pull up.
2. The procedure for take-off is every time a little bit diffrent, with little changes.
1: there is a certain degree to which you rotate, so yes
2: the weather conditions often very of course, but the procedure the pilots used is for every commercial airliner.
Thats a good flight....i love klm...
+BRAVOX JUNIOUR You make us blush ;-)
Andrea Van Dijik You Are Inspiring The Girls
So that's how my private jet flys . Amazing stuff
I would like to see how you fly in IFR conditions.
KLM: Just wanted to clarify something, at 2:43 , "Less speed gives more control thus makes it easier to land". With regards to airplane controllability, slower speeds increase the amount of control input needed for maneuvers (climbs, turns, ect.). This is because there is slower air moving (due to a slower speed) over control surfaces making them less effective. This is a decrease in aircraft performance.
+American Airlines B777-300ER That is what I thought. But I think it is meant that you can do more accurate corrections than at higher speeds ... how do I put it ... imagine having to drive a slalom course with your car - that is easier at slower speeds.
Notice how I said with *regards to AIRPLANE CONTROLLABILITY*. Aerodynamically speaking, nothing incorporating pilot intervention. It's simply aircraft performance. Higher speeds make the control surfaces more effective, due to the increase in airflow passing over them. Anything that produces aerodynamic Lift is an known as an airfoil. The direct by product of Lift is Induced Drag. When you practice the maneuver slow flight, this become very apparent. When the airplane is flown near Vmc or minimum controllable airspeed, the flight controls will tend to have a "mushy" feel. Now, if your airspeed is well above that, and lets say your in a Mooney M20 blazing at 160 KIAS, a easy push or pull on the yoke will have a great effect. There really isn't much else to it. Thats pretty much with what I'm concerned with, I'm a pilot, not an aerodynamic expert or an aircraft engineer. As for driving a car down a ski slalom, I would't want to do that at a slow speed or a fast speed. Car's belong on roads, skier's belong on ski slaloms. What you mentioned doesn't sound safe, but if you want to go ahead with it, make sure there are no skiers on the slopes, and that you have good auto insurance. :) Take care!!!
American Airlines B777-300ER
Well, I didn't mean a ski slalom, but a slalom on a road, marked by cones. Who would drive down a skiing hill :P Well, I'm no native speaker, so I apologize for not expressing myself clearly. And I know about the aerodynamics, I am an engineering student ;) still, as you say, at high speeds, a little push has a great effect - so I would think it would be difficult to correct the course - but let's not argue, shall we? You take care, too, and always happy landings!
Im a little confused with what you mean by "at high speeds it's difficult to correct course". That would have to do with airplane stability; either static or dynamic. But that topic, while super important, doesn't really need to be discussed because it would just over complicate things. So, if you could further explain the above quote, I can try to add further insight. I'll just say this, an airplanes stability is taken into consideration for the airplanes mission; what it is designed to do. For example, a Cessna 172 is a very stable airplane. By design, it always wants to remain in straight and level flight on its own. If it encounters a light amount of turbulence, the airplane will naturally return to straight and level without pilot input (other things held constant such as power, and airplane is within weight limitations, other factors also). Now take into consideration a heavy C-17 . This airplane is actually designed to be a little bit on the unstable side. Notice how the wings droop down, that is called Anhedral, providing the airplane with less stability. With the airplane designed to be less stable, this makes controllability easier when flight control inputs are made.
Thats a very rough idea, obviously there is much more to it. Dynamic stability will explain the airplanes stability over time, static stability is instantaneous. There are three possible outcomes, Positive (airplane returns to stable flight) Negative (airplanes condition will continually worsen) Neutral (airplanes will remain in the new condition, it will not recover or worsen).
Any further inquires, let me know. I love talking about this stuff. And please explain what you meant.
Thanks!!!
Cool video. What is the difference between a captain and a first officer? Thanks
Captain = Pilot First officer = co-pilot i think
Thanks!
More videos like this, and longer and more detailed please. You didn't mention the Autopilot at all, which is a pretty big deal. :)
+kaare1992 Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it!
***** Love the JetstreamTV website as well. Videos like this helps me get over the fact that I've only been flying a few times in my life, hopefully more to come!
+kaare1992 Keep an eye on our RUclips channel for more videos!
What is that music theme, I really want it!!!
SUPERDESUPER...maandag 16 - 11 vlieg ik naar Bangkok... zou zooooooooooo graag een keer in de cockpit willen zitten met landen!
+Diny Lenior We wensen je een goede vlucht toe, Diny!
Just one thing… Why did the captain take off? Isn't supposed to be the first officer? Maybe I got that wrong :/ I've seen it multiple time in KLM videos but I've seen it the other way around in some documentaries. I know the decision is taken by the crew but I'm just a bit confused :/
Anyone care to explain?
There is the stated pressure difference, but it is a fact that the fastest moving air around a wing is actually under it... Yep!...And behind it as well.Otherwise a good video from KLM. Nice job by the crew and production team.-- Cheers
+Observ45er No. You have failed to grasp the aerodynamic principle of a wing. The shape of a wing forces the air flowing over the top to travel faster than the air flowing under it. Nature abhors a vacuum so the air is flowing over both surfaces to reach the back of the wing at the same time to keep a vacuum from forming. The different flow rates cause a pressure differential, i.e., high pressure under the wing, low pressure (due to a lower volume of air) over the wing, therefore the wing moves upward. One thing that wasn't mentioned is that rotation increases the angle of attack of the wing and increases the lift enough to allow the plane to climb. See the explainer for how a wing works. www.explainthatstuff.com/howplaneswork.html
Super landing!
+Observ45er would you please write to me at alejandro.irausquin@gmail.com ? Thanks
she's awesome😱
Elefterios Venizelos airport??
hello KLM my name is QUSAI i am thirteen years old. i really love your videos. because of you i have cleared my doubts of how airplanes fly
but i still have a doubt about how the plane is landed. does it land by the autopilot or you have to land it manually. please reply to my message.
please release a video on this.
please reply....
KLM won't probably answer but I can help. Alot of the time the pilots will land the aircraft, but some airlines have regualtions about over using automation i.e. Autolands etc.
So I take the "thrust" is a fancy term for air exiting the exhaust at a higher velocity and/or preassure than the air in front of the aircraft?
You can call it that. Basically trust is the force accelerating the aircraft forwards. A propeller is doing the same thing. The acceleration stops when the drag equals the thrust. Drag is pointed rearwards.
+MrJetra It seems to me all combustion engines are just air compressors.
P Nelson They are air compressors with combustion. Some are self-igniting, like diesel engines, some require a spark, like gasoline engines, and some are constantly burning fuel, like turbine engines.
So do the first officer and the captain speak english to eachother even when they are both dutch, or only in this case for recording purposes?
English is the language of aviation. In commercial aviation it's used in all communications between ATC and the crew to avoid confusion.
It's probably for recording purposes in this case, I guess they speak in dutch between themselves for the rest of the time. Unless they're flying within the Netherlands, they do have to speak to ATC in english though
vlogen ze met een -700 of -800?
I just love this video because of the female pilot .. Very intelligent and know what she is doing
finaly it is to long of a wait
I love klm...i hope one i will wark with klm company. i can be a good laggage handler and cleaning the plane.
