Watching how complicated this is for the pilots, with so much going on, us the reason I dont fly anymore, too many things could go wrong. Knowing I was going to fly to a holiday destination ruined the holiday for me. Knowing I'll be anxious ruins it the fear of being fearful. Which is why I totally respect the courage of pilots 👍🏼
Yes, your right. A lot of things could go wrong, but the reason pilots and other people aren’t scared to fly is because it is insanely rare for these type of things to happen. Airplane technology has gotten so advanced that there is a one in 11m chance of getting into a plane crash. Edit: being anxious on a plane is totally normal
Wonderful ! I personally don't like (as a passenger) departing or landing on a rainy day because the moment you hit those clouds, you just know there's gonna be turbulence. It sure makes you appreciate that moment when, once they fly way above the clouds, you finally see the sky and the Sun. Alleluia ! Nothing like it !
Thank you very much! I love this angle! If you have suggestions on the other camera angles please advise! Pleasure to have you aboard the flight deck👨✈️
My sons are contemplating a career in aviation (with some nudging from Dad :-) and this video gives them an excellent glimpse into one aspect of that world. Thanks for making this video!
I was a passenger on a West Jet coming into Toronto from Calgary a couple years ago. About 30 minutes prior to landing and while descending over the never-ending city(s) below, we hit the WORST Turbulence I have ever experienced in my life. The plane was rocking back and forth constantly and Bumping up and down violently until we landed. Several people were grabbing their Barf Bag while others were noticeably nervous. I didn't enjoy it much either but it was interesting to say the least.
Pilot induced turbulence is a real thing. While there is some validity to hand flying to keep your skills sharp it seems to me any hand flying above 10,000 isn’t about professionalism but narcissism.
@jbraunger why narcissism? You do realize sometimes pilots are forced to hand fly because for whatever reason the autopilot isn't working, right (although I believe this would only be for the one flight as maintenance would have to look at why the autopilot isn't working once the plane reaches its destination).
So you are suggesting the autopilot was MEL’d? What is to be gained hand flying above 10,000 feet? Narcissism is obvious when the pilot is choosing a method that creates a worse ride for the passengers to show off for a video. A true professional would let the autopilot do a better job and let their co-pilot relax.
@jbraunger surprisingly the autopilot can break (wow who knew?). And I don't think there is a pilot out there who on purpose decides to hand fly it above 10000 feet unless absolutely necessary.
So you’re suggesting the pilot in this video is flying a plane with an inoperative autopilot eh? Hmm I don’t see a sticker showing it is MEL’d. And there are lots of pilots who hand fly above 10,000 feet. And they are all narcissists who “love to fly” and ignore passengers. Sorry but I’m not impressed. All pilots are capable of hand flying the plane but the good ones don’t. They let the autopilot fly the plane and manage the aircraft instead.
I love getting the view of the cockpit and what the pilots see and do. Fun Observations: 9 min in and it's taxi, taxi, stop, taxi taxi taxi. The copilot appears to have ants in his pants or had too much coffee or has ADHD. He literally cannot stop moving around/bouncing his leg/fiddling with his pen, and has been doing so the entire time I've been watching. Dude, take your Ritalin and relax! :-D The captain is calm, cool, collected, no bouncing around in his seat or any nervous energy. Nice video! Thank you for sharing.
Real pilots hand fly to cruise. Most pilots today get gear up, flaps up set heading, speed, ALT, and press AP. Respect for the pilots that still know stick and rudder flying.
It’s usually company policy that makes pilots fly using only autopilot during traffic-heavy situations, so I wouldn’t blame the pilots alone for it all.
I envy you tbh, I'm a software engineer but didn't follow my dream which is to be a pilot, and you're living my dream, I hope you truly appreciate what you're doing because man I'd do anything to become a pilot
Might be bit of a noob question but what’s the white dial next to the thrust handle that keeps spinning around after take off? What does it do/measure? How come it does spin around every so often? Great video btw, love watching videos from the flight dec
Elevator trim. It allows the pilot to have easier pitch control as they doesn't have to apply as much force on the yoke to keep it at a certain attitude.
U was so fortunate to be able to drive airside I. Calgary years ago. The airport is even bigger now...the driving intricacies on airside is so different than anywhere else. Wicked video

I did have one question though.
Why do you keep adjusting the trim? What does it do?
Thanks! :)
Hey, thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Trimming is required to relieve pressure of the flight controls. Once on speed and trimmed it allows for an almost correction free control of the airplane. :)
Not sure why this video hit the algorithm so hard, but I'm glad it did! Good content my friend! The chart overlays are a much appreciated as well
Would be interesting to see why the algorithm chose to promote this video. Going from 11k views to 130k is a huge difference

Just simply amazing watching things from pilot's perspective seeing the plane leaving the run way gave me jitters things for posting this video.
Just found the channel. I love it. I love more the fact that you are hand flying the aircraft!! Excellent!! Keep the great videos coming.
Thank you! I love hand flying! More to come my friend!🙏🏻

Just to be able to understand and follow the radio chatter is an amazing feat. Great video!
nice camera placement! real immersive
edit: maybe for the next video you can include the camera audio, so we can hear a bit of the cockpit ambience as well
Thank you!🙏🏻
I still leave some of the ambient noise, I’m afraid if I leave more of it it’ll be uncomfortable to watch for prolonged time)
Really awesome video, my dad is a retired 737 driver and has let me fly the sim a few times, very cool to see the 121 world ops first hand.
Thank you! 🙏
Awesome, where was your father flying?

But what about the ones that crash? Where is god then?
Nice piloting skills! You and the first officer are great team workers!

Lovely hand flying and I love the displays on the MAX!
Great cockpit management and crew coordination. 30 degree crosswind with decent gust numbers posed no problems. Guys are good!
Thank you Mike
As a ATPL student, it's my dream to fly this beast. B738M LOVE IT!
Great video. Love to see the hand flying instead of going right to autopilot
I did a lot of flying in the 70s 80s and 90s, I was always glad to get above the clouds...very peaceful up there 😊
Watching how complicated this is for the pilots, with so much going on, us the reason I dont fly anymore, too many things could go wrong.
Confident and calm pilots. Work well together. Glad to see the Captain flying the plane. No auto pilot!!🙏🏻
My small soul delights in the videos!
Enjoy 😊
Awesome Video gentlemen, the Camera was placed in the right place and I felt like I was part of the crew. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent sterile cockpit & real professionals at work.
Thanks Mate🙏🏻
Very very nice video! I like it very much. One of the most responsible professions.
I love how you hand flew for all that time. You have just gained a new subscriber, Thank you so much captain!!
Thank you Anthony and welcome!
When I grow up ima be a pilot so I just love these vids
Excellent video. Great to see how the two of you worked well together.
Thank you very much Kevin!🙏🏻
I love flying manually in FS2020, especially with Boeing planes. Using the yoke feels more real and precise, giving me a great sense of control.
Simply fascinating, what a view to have every day whilst working ❤
Hi Wendy, I agree 💯 %🫶
15 minutes of hand flying. Great work pilot! I heard the laugh and autopilot at 15:00.
That copilot has to be one of the most fidgety pilots I've seen. He's got some nervous energy!
That was the first thing I saw and I began wondering: Why was the First Officer so "nervous"??? It was difficult too, to listen to his pronunciation.
@niltonlacle yep really fidgety nervous
Or he may have a bit too much caffeine in his system.
I thought that too. “Wow that FO is twitchy. Is he afraid of being on camera?”
I would have liked to see when he took check rides with a flight examiner
I was a passenger on a West Jet coming into Toronto from Calgary a couple years ago. About 30 minutes prior to landing and while descending over the never-ending city(s) below, we hit the WORST Turbulence I have ever experienced in my life. The plane was rocking back and forth constantly and Bumping up and down violently until we landed. Several people were grabbing their Barf Bag while others were noticeably nervous. I didn't enjoy it much either but it was interesting to say the least.
Very cool that this great pilot didn't immediately go onto autopilot, but hand flew the climbout.
It’s so nice to watch, so calm, all the procedures so well performed, that even my ocd heart is beating faster 😁👍🏼
I'm just watching this and my palms were sweating.
I'm nervous flying.
Great Job guys.
Fly safe
This was incredible. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is awesome. So much respect for pilots. Incredible composure and professionalism. Thanks for the work you guys (and gals) do!
It's one of the best videos I have seen so far.❤

Were you used to fly out of YYZ?
Great video! A little bumpy on the climb out but the Captain had the bird!! ✈️
The ride seems much smoother in the cockpit than in the back where the passengers are.
Yes it is.
This is so cool! Love that he hand flew for so long after departure!
Just found this video and channel. Amazing! Subscribed. You all make this all look so easy! (I know it's not!) Looking forward to more vids. ✈

Amazing what pilots do tota respect, my wife works for Air Canada always fly with them
Nice reaction upon Take Off, quick response to the windgust from the side...!!
Very smooth and a great view. Thanks so much!
You built different sir!! Hand flying all the way to 15000🔥🔥…
Love the French accent. The instrument cluster is Beautiful
The FO had too many cups of coffee. Made me hyper just watching him.
I love the aviation terminology during the pre flight checks, I learnt most of it from mayday
Ok man, I have watched all of them:)
I’m sorry but following a flight director to 10k isn’t really “hand flying”.
@@calvinnickel9995 you are flying the plane with your hands. It’s still hand flying.
I imagine very rarely would a modern airliner be hand flown to the cruise..
@@CarbonMonoxxide Never heard that, certainly at my company.
I absolutely love this channel. Thanks for sharing
One of the best ways to learn how to fly the Microsoft Flight Sim.
True)😀👍🏻
This was a great video!
Thank you!🙏🏻
U was so fortunate to be able to drive airside I. Calgary years ago. The airport is even bigger now...the driving intricacies on airside is so different than anywhere else. Wicked video

I immediately liked and subscribed! I am seeing more and more cockpit cams and learn so very much!!! You pilots in this video are not only talented pros but amazing magicians! I learned a lot from the late Al Haines from the DC-10 United Flight. He taught us about teamwork, communication and collaboration. That synergy seems to be the common theme for success. Cheers!
Love it!!!!!!!! want more of this. good work!
Thank you very much! With comments like this one more definitely to come!🙏
Thanks for this beautiful film, real and amazing 👍
Saludos ¡¡¡¡¡¡
Great video and flight crew. Despite the MAX's past issues, she sure has a nice looking flight deck.
