There is no comparison between the hybrid and the ecoboost Maverick as the ecoboost provides more capabilities if you need them. Nothing wrong with a hybrid if all you do is drive around in the city. If you need better towing capabilities or you do a little more light off-roading and highway driving then the ecoboost is a way to go.
@@jamesm568 I disagree. The 2.0 Turbo Mavericks get such low MPG relative to what it can do. For a slight MPG hit you can get an F-150 Hybrid which is much more capable. A compact pickup should get much better gas mileage than full size pickups. Compact pickups have 3 main things going for them. 1.) They're cheaper than full size pickups 2.) They're still pretty good pickups 3.) They're lighter and smaller. Because of this they tend to get better MPG. The Maverick is bigger than older midsize pickups, it barely turns tighter than some current production F-150s, it only comes in a short bed crew cab unibody variant. It meets the first requirement hands down, it hardly meets the second requirement, and MPG is the only part of the third requirement it meets. Without the MPG the Maverick is just too compromised to be worth it. That's why IMHO the Hybrid is the only one to buy currently.
@@MrLM002 But I don't need a $40,000 full size truck as all I need is all wheel drive and at least 4000LBS towing which is something the Maverick hybrid doesn't offer at the moment. I can care less about fuel mileage.
@@jamesm568 Well if you've watched the other towing videos on this channel you'll know that towing ratings are not as set in stone as you think. Refer back to the F-150 Hybrid's attempts to do the Ike Gauntlet. If you need to tow a 4000lb trailer you need something bigger than a Maverick unless you plan on towing your 4000lb trailer at sea level on flat land only without anyone but yourself in your 5 seat Maverick... With older compact pickups you could tow ridiculous amounts, and provided you were gentle you could get away with a bit more than that. With these computer controlled transmissions they'll put you in the trailer towing equivalent of limp home mode if you end up exceeding capacity. The 2.0L Turbo engine is not a long lasting engine and the 8 speed auto that it comes with likely won't last as long as the engine... Personally I'd wait till they release an AWD Hybrid Maverick with the 4K towing package if you want a Maverick for towing. That being said it isn't a towing rig and it never will be. So if you need something to tow a trailer that weighs over 3000LBS I'd get something bigger. The Jeep Gladiator seems like a pretty decent light tow rig with the manual transmission and 4 driven wheels.
@@MrLM002 I already got a 2022 Nissan Frontier for general towing and weekend. I just want the Maverick as a throwaway vehicle to drive back and forth to work with and do other daily wear and tear stuff that I would never do with my main vehicle.

Yes, they're selling well, even though no deliveries of the hybrid model have been made to date. Ford says deliveries are delayed until at least next Jan, although they're still selling them for people willing to wait for delivery The ecoboost model is doing well though, and is selling out about as fast as dealers can get them in stock.

The only Hybrid I've driven was a 2017 Toyota Camry. Was actually very interesting to drive. Made the mistake of filling up the gas tank though LOL. It had about 1/8 of a tank when I picked it up from the dealer as a loaner car...filled it up and had to drive it all over the place in order to use up most of the gas I had put in it before taking it back to the dealer 4 days later LOL. I was averaging 45-50mpg with it, and I wasn't driving it easy either. The electric mode in it would work up to 20mph, then the gas engine would kick in. I drove about 4 miles in all electric, very weird, absolutely no noise, other than the sound of the HVAC fan, and the radio. At 4 miles though it was pretty much all the battery in it had anyways, probably would have gone another mile or so before the gas engine would have kicked in anyways. Fun experience, but I'm not much of a car person, I'd rather have an SUV or a pickup....the new Maverick though is definitely a possible purchase at some point...Maverick FX4 would be my choice.

Hey American and global friends. What is your current fuel prices? In Ottawa Canada, it's $1,40/L CND ($5.30/US gallon)
Here in Illinois, current price is $3.45 per gallon
I’ve never driven hybrids, but I always wanted to see how fast or how far you can drive tin electric mode before gas motor kicks in. Sure wish Maverick was hybrid and AWD. Definitely would like to see Maverick Ecoboost up against Andre’s F-150. Also would love to see Maverick Hybrid off road.
Instead of a driveshaft to the back I'd like to see an additional electric motor back there.
Great video. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
You should compare the Maverick to the Ford Explorer Sport Trac - discontinued in 2010, not the Ranger or the F-150.
Really like the Maverick, so how does the Rivian stack against these?
9:30 the best RUclips has to offer lol.
