    would love to see a video of how you set up your rig, why you chose the components you chose and any other insights.

      I can do that, I’ll make a detailed breakdown video. Consider subscribing to catch it. I’ll try to get it up this weekend.

    Should I set my sights on the newer R4 and R5, over the R3? Upgrading from a really old Canon T3i and looking for a serious upgrade, I feel like the AF is holding me back and would like to dabble into full frame, full frame is more of a want, I think APS-C is equivalent to getting the job done for what I do

      I would research some opinions of canon shooters. I haven’t used a canon in a while.

      @@alphaartisan Sorry I meant to say the Sony A7R3 and A7R4 and A7R5, I won't be going canon because of the closed mount.

      @@trektn okay now I can play ball, so what are you looking to use it for? What are the specifics you are looking for? The 4&5 are great and share the same sensor. The 5 is absolutely amazing, but I’d your looking for apsc they have a couple of good options. Sony will also be releasing a new apsc camera around July 12th if your looking better specs. Most of Sony’s apsc line up is a bit older

    • @trektn
      @trektn Год назад

      @@alphaartisan Mixed usage, mostly street, occasional portrait, occasional astro, and video.
      The 5 looks great for all of those, but I feel like it's out of reach, so I want to see if I can be okay doing that on the 3 or 4. As for aps-c, I feel like that new camera is going to cost more than the used full frames, it really depends on the specs if that'd be justifiable. Like if it had the 5's AI AF for an affordable price

    • @alphaartisan

      @@trektn if cost is a major concern consider apsc. You may spend more for a newer body than an old full frame, but it will up to date with better features. The big expense is really the glass “lenses”. Street, portrait, and Astro often times require different lenses Sony apsc cameras have a huge lens selection of lenses and they are easily thousands less than their quality full frame counterparts. The R models also create a data heavy workflow so you’ll need more storage, to support that workflow.
      I’d really have to recommend the a7iv. It’s got 33mpx, a good price, and I can shoot in crop mode and use those cheaper lenses. Unless your looking to make huge prints, the R models don’t make as much sense For casual shooting

    What type of photography is this good for? Wondering if it can handle sports and wildlife.

    • @alphaartisan
      @alphaartisan  Год назад +1

      It’s a good camera, but for sports and wildlife I’d turn you to A1 or A9 territory. The R stands for resolution, and the scale either tips tepees speed “which is good for sports and wildlife“ or resolution. If your just starting out a camera with a stacked sensor and 24-30 mpx may be better. The burst rate on the A7iv is lower and the buffer will fill up faster due to the giant files. There are ways around this but at that point your money is better spent elsewhere. What type of lens are you going to be using?

      Is the a7riv holding you back in any way?

      @@alphaartisan that wasn’t the question I asked 🤷‍♂️

    • @alphaartisan
      @alphaartisan  Год назад +3

      @@gurugamer8632 Well, worth is subjective. Is it worth upgrading to the A7rv from the a7riv. To give you a recommendation I need to establish how you determine worth. Is it worth it for the new multi angle screen or larger EVF? Well that depends on if the older hardware is holding you back, or if you worth is more based on having the newest hardware. The camera has the same sensor, so if 60 mpx is holding you back upgrading won’t improve unless your looking for accuracy (improved hit rate) over resolution. Why don’t you rephrase the the question and provide me with a little more information so I can make an accurate recommendation. It’s an expensive camera and it probably isn’t worth the upgrade unless you have a professional need for a certain feature set this camera offers.
