Great review, HorrorHands! I remember this gem well. The opening scene with what looks like a close-up of a lime jello salad and the near-original Exorcist score fading in set just a perfect tone. The religious issue you raised is really interesting. At the time most of the Turkeywood rip-offs were coming out, Turkey was officially a very secular state. Most of the public was and remains Muslim. Maybe that had something to do with either staying away from overtly religious themes, or maybe treating religious behaviour in cultural rather than theological terms. Again, a great review.

I'm sure I've mentioned a dozen or more times, but I've only seen the Exorcist once. So I don't have a dog in the pony. But that head turning scene looked like fun. She's a jolly possessed lass, isn't she? Glad you got a kick out of it. Even if it doesn't live up to Turkish Star Wars.

I’ll definitely have to check this one out, it sounds very entertaining! I have beyond the door, which I must rewatch to see the comparisons. I believe there was also a blaxploitation version called Abby, which was pretty much sued out of existence because of all the similarities. First it was removed from theatres and apparently it’s never had any official physical release. Now that would be an interesting watch!!

Great episode! I was cracking up for the first part (my roommate probably thinks I'm crazy) but I was really fascinated by the rest. I did not know that about those crazy Turks lol

lol! I also have a high tolerance for bad movies. Sometimes people say: thanks. That movie sucked! That happened with David Lynch’s Dune. I enjoyed it. My friends hated it. I’ll check out this Exorcist. Very interesting analysis! There’s a Turkish Spider-Man movie that I want to see. He’s evil in it lol. I enjoyed Starcrash, the Italian Star Wars. Great vid! If you haven't watched Mark Kermode's review of Exorcist: Believer, he actually brings up Seytan in that review. The Exorcist is famously his favourite movie. He has far more admiration for Seytan than he does for Exorcist: Believer. His rants are hilarious.
I'm not sure I could sit through the film but hey, an intriguing video you made all the same. What was the picture quality like? I usually find these old foreign films the picture is often very bad. Maybe I missed it, but has Turkey done a Jaws movie?
Fair enough, Vince. The picture quality was dreadful and looked worse than an old vhs! Yes, there is a Turkish Jaws but it hardly features a shark and mainly takes place on land - it's pretty bad lol. Thanks for watching.
Beyond the Door was an Italian rip off of The Exorcist and had some unrelated sequels. Seytan is a different film. It can get a bit confusing with all these cheap knock off movies lol
