Fran and Rich glad to see that you have got over that dreadful CVirus, they say that plenty of fresh air, beautiful scenery and a lovely companion cures most ills. Twenty years as milky I never had a a cold but since working in side I get a cold every five minutes. Stay safe.
We are doing the same with isolating in our house. The next 2 weeks are predicted to be our worst in the US for Covid. We r asked to avoid grocery stores and pharmacies. Still limited like your shops were too. They also asked us to cover our faces if we have to go out now in addition to social distancing. I’m learning to appreciate small variations at home to be distracted. We are healthy and Rich looks better, stay safe 🤗

So happy to see Rich up and about (sorry about the ankle) and that you're coming through in fine fettle Fran. The country side with spring flowers is just beautiful. I love that you forage and have lettuces and courgettes going. I have 1 zucchini/courgette planted in a container in my backyard plus okra and 1 salad tomato plant. I am so enjoying your videos, Fran and Rich. I am catching up by watching your most recent one then working my way from the oldest ones too. We should be on our boat at the moment. Our daughter was living on it in Newbury and has recently bought a flat....so it’s all ours, now. We were there cleaning and getting her ready when the lockdown started so we quickly returned home to our house as, even though we plan to live aboard, we just weren’t ready. So I am living the dream via your videos for the time being.
Funnily enough, I have just made some of those origami paper pots and am growing sunflowers from the bird seed. Surprisingly, they are all coming up. Hopefully, and if the slugs don’t get them, they will give some summer colour to the garden.
We hope to meet you on the cut one day when this period of enforced isolation is over. I hope that a Rich’s bad chest gets better very soon and his ankle too. Stay safe and healthy. XX

Its amazing that Fran didn’t catch the dreaded you know what from you, a relief for you both, The CRT moorings that we are on have 7 raised beds for planting in, but we are struggling to find a good selection of seeds, radish and beetroot at the moment, I think everyone has had the same idea of growing their own. Would be great to get them all planted up with a good selection of salads and veg and even if we move on it will be well stocked for the next visitors
Hi you two. Those raised beds are great. It would be wonderful you could find some seeds and fill them up. We are the same, can't get seeds or anymore compost. I'm thinking of using soil from molehills now! Hope you're both well xx
@@FloatingOurBoat I bought a greenhouse last december not knowing about what is about to happened, I have had tomatoes lettuce capricums chillis all thru our winter over here in Adelaide Australia. the lettuce grwon fresh lasts so much longer than the shop stuf just gotta love it, now my vegatable gardens beds are flourishing with broad bean,sprouts, spinach, red and white onions, chillies, tomatoes lettuce, peppers, caulis etc etc love it tastes so much better
Thank you so much for the egg box and paper pots hints for growing veg. We have an allotment and I’ve spent some time today (healthy breaks between home working) pricking our seedlings into plastic modules (plastic!). They were ones we had used previously, but I do want to reduce buying plastic, so thanks!
By the way, it’s not as easy getting hold of seed currently, with garden centres closed and our favourite online veggie seed suppliers currently closed, or temporarily closed too. Our favourite is ‘Real Seeds’. They don’t do F1 varieties, collect heritage seeds and send you instructions on how to save your own seed.
We always used real seeds when we were gardening and growing our own veg at home. The plastic pots are a big problem, but if you already have them you may as well use them over and over. X

Just back from very early morning senior shopping. Oh how the mighty have fallen. We were Carded. Lol. Got toilet paper, tomatoes and bagels. No isopropyl alcohol or gloves. I am an old nurse. Full moon always meant a load of crazy drunks. Should I be back on front lines? Maybe.

I had MERSA pneumonia about 10 years ago. It almost killed me. Regardless I know exactly how you feel with getting winded easily even after you’re not sick anymore. It was horrible for a month or more.
Please take care and don’t over do it!! Unless your doctor has advised otherwise then remember to do lung exercises. Inhale all the way and exhale all the way. Absolutely every bit of air out you can slowly. If it makes you cough that’s ok. Do that every few hours. It’ll help you regain your lung capacity.

So good to see you both out and about! My granddaughter landed in London on March 13th just as everything went off the charts. We finally got her home and she came out of quarantine on Tuesday. All is well. Can't wait to see spring in En gland. Stay safe and carry on!!

At 9:30 that's a stick to be proud of! If I was a mechanical engineer like a friend in city where I lived before here, it would be fun to estimate the torque force that stick is applying to dog's jaw, but that was his way of having fun, not mine! :D

I thoroughly enjoy every one of them, love your sense of humour and your attitude to life. I have now travelled to Bath, albeit narrowboat virtual. The problem is that you are my huge time wasters, lol, and when I giggle or laugh at the screen, especially when wearing earpiece, my husband and son look at me oddly !!! Love it.

I had to laugh when you said working in the surgery and the crazies around the full moon! That is so true, a lot of my family is involved with the law enforcement and that's when all the crazies come out that they have to deal with two they laughed about it for years! Hi both, so pleased that Rich is on the mend and than Fran seems to have escaped...really good news. Still jealous of anybody that is able to be on their boat, especially in this glorious weather. We've just had to stump up god knows how much for marina fees...and I think we’ve forgotten what the boat looks like, never mind in another month! It never ceases to amaze me with just how small the world really is in regard to manufacturing...I have that exact same pot, even the same colour.
I really enjoyed seeing the sights of spring, beautiful flowers and of course the duck and ducklings.
I have been keeping up with some of the rural aspects involving current times through your BBC podcasts, I find them really interesting. Hopefully you will have enough pickers there to get the fruit and veg into the stores throughout the summer. I think we are all in the same boat with seasonal workers.

The problem with the pockets is that we have become famous too reliant on cheap European labour. Maybe a lesson has been learnt and farmers will start to pay a proper wage to our own young workers. One of my sons is not working due to covid, and he is now looking for work at a local vineyard for the summer.
@@FloatingOurBoat I was refering to the pot you planted your lettuce seedlings into....I think it was lettuce.
I wonder if people will be willing to pay the prices needed to cover the extra wages. My problem with fresh foods is that we are always looking for the cheapest option, where we should be looking at supporting sustainable agriculture.
Perhaps after this we may all come to realise just how important it is to have a good supply of quality fresh foods produced in our own countries and be prepared to pay a fair price for it.
I worked OB in the hospital and we always had more babies born on a full moon!!
