Great to see all your extra activities that make life worth living. I have shared the vlog with a friend who was a weaver for 30 years. I think he will be very impressed with your loom Fran. Excellent hair-cutting confidence Rich and very impressed you have kept the same bike for 10 years. It must be a real prize - you could put semi-slicks on the rims for wet-dry traction and make life easier for yourself. I love my bike too. Great to see the sun in the vlogs.

The hair cut was excellent (I am in lock down with my wife who is a very highly regarded hairdresser - you were very hard judged at this end!). Really impressed to see a loom on a narrow boat, and what a wonderful wall hanging!

My husband and I have been cutting each others hair for over 15 years. Started after he had a job loss and thinking of things to do without. He does a much better job on mine than I do on his. We both say"oops" a lot but I get compliments on mine all the time. As I have commented before , we so enjoy all our narrowboaters. Happiness to you from Raleigh NC.
I have going to hairdressers when we're moving around, so I think Rich has the job permanently now

Sorry, still catching up with your vlogs from the start. This one had me in fits of laughter, remembering the ‘buzz cut’ I got earlier in May from ‘salon’ Monsignor Graham (my Hubbie). Don’t worry, it was on the longest setting and turned out reasonably well...stressful though!

The best thing with cutting the hair is that if you take too much it will grow out again, if you make it to long you can cut again. But I must say that you are both brave; a man cut's his hair, a women get her hair done...

wow Fran & Rich you've just reduced me to tears, what a lovely view & sounds you have to wake up to first thing on the morning, sun beaming, trees motionless, birds singing etc no noisy moaning neighbours having a go at you every day, just the tranquillity of the wild, just wish we had the money to buy our own boat and do what your doing just to get well away from our neighbours who just wont leave us alone, we are so sad where we live, the neighbours are making our health problems worse especially my wife's heart condition, as she as heart failure and is suppose to be keeping quiet and calm but these neighbours are just upsetting her, the only peace we get is when all the neighbours have gone to bed, we cant sell the house as its part owned by my brother in law, and I know if we had the money or if we win either the national lottery or our post code lottery we will buy a boat as we know we would be far happier living on a boat at least we would make new friends and join a new family in the boating world especially within the Liver board communities
Hi Anthony. So sorry to hear you are in this situation. We completely understand as it was one of the reasons we left Norfolk. Neighbours made our lives miserable and we never forget how lucky we are now to be able to move the boat if there is anything to disturb us. Notice we nearly always choose to moor up all on our own. I hope you can enjoy a little bit of the peaceful life we now have and if you ever get the chance to do the same, just dive straight in. x

Love and trust...two important things in a relationship. Rich did a great job Fran. Mine was falling out in clumps and I had my head shaved. Rich missed his calling. Lol. 35 more days of chemo and I’m done. I hope y’all are well and safe.

Ive got a Cube E Mountain bike and in the last 2 years done 2000 miles, wouldn't have done that on a normal bike. Try one out, you will love it!
Another cheerful vlog from you guys. Loved the bike ride, loved the haircut (I doubt that I would let my hubby near my hair with scissors). And Fran I am fascinated by that loom and the weaving. I make aprons (I used to have them on etsy), I make jewellery especially malas, and I make cards (ladies faces with hats made from felt and feathers)....being crafty is fun...lol.
It is fun and keeps you sane when you are stuck in one place

I loved the haircut! Really laughed when you said the scissors are for the dogs! I used to cut my x husbands hair with the dog clippers, and he never knew!! I'm going to try the scrubber trick with the horsetail. I have acres of it! Can't get rid of it! So glad to see your weaving again! I'm determined to get one of your shawls someday!

I have used the dogs clippers on Rich before and once had to use the dogs shampooh for myself. My hair looked great !!

We just walked into a Saori weaving studio and Rich bought me lessons for Christmas. That was enough to start an obsession

Lovely video. Oh, and who do I contact, The House of Hair, or Mister Richard for my hair styling appointment ? And should i bring my own bowl ? lol.. Rich, you made me motivated to get back on my bicycle. Well, done. However, you might consider light, plastic fenders. Your footpaths get really messy, unless you enjoy a little mud in the face and up the backside.. lol. Take care, you guys are like watching the beginnings of a cottage industry for self reliance. Pro Tip: if you're wife asks you to put some gel in her hair, don't use petroleum gel
Hi Fran not sure if someone has suggested this but when you want to clean your wood stove glass used a old newspaper. For some reason printed newspaper will clean that glass like stink!
I do use this, sometimes a little vinegar spray helps too
Love the framed sign on the wall about books. When I lived in my home for 40 years I had ten floor to ceiling bookcases filled with books. People found it intimidating and asked if I read them. "Yes, I read them all." Scary to enter a home not see any books. Great vlog. Love, Jane, Piladelphia

What a lovely and uplifting vlog. Life almost feels normal when I watch videos like this. You did a great job on Fran's hair, Rich and it was fun coming along for the ride into town. I did laugh when you made a dash to catch that other cyclist - just like my OH, he always sees that as a challenge :) Love the weaving Fran, very interesting to watch and your can really show your artistic flair on those wall hangings (look forward to seeing more of that). Overall its great to see you both doing so well and managing to maintain your relaxed outlook on life during this god awful pandemic. Keep em coming :)
Hi great to ride a bike sadly being mature I nearly killed a neighbour he had to jump into a bush ! Never learnt as a child so obviously far too late now ! And our neighbour was fine after apologies!

We had a plant like the plant you brought in, where I grew up. But it had no leaves. The stalk was exactly like yours and I would make really long ones by putting them together. I have a loom about the size of a dinner table but I weave beads. I use 11/0 beads, meaning that you can stack 11 beads to make an inch. I am working on a landscape of monument valley and I don’t know if I will keep it or what. A museum in NYC expressed an interest a few years ago but this one is taking awhile they have probably changed things up. Don’t know. I could use the money but haven’t a clue how to sell something that took years to make. I should send you some strands of beads so you can weave them in your stuff.
Your hair turned out great! Go Rich! You need some saddlebags and a handlebar pouch for the bike. I used to ride my bike everywhere when I was a kid. Mom sent me to town to get a broom and mop once. I had an interesting time with that.

Hi Rebecca. Your weaving sounds absolutely amazing. I don't think you should sell it. It is a oart of your history and whatever money you get for it would never be enough. A place in a museum would be wonderful so lots of people could see it. Maybe you could then take on smalle commisions for a fee.
I have to say the boat is looking smashing with all the painting and and the weaving is just magical.

Apart from the fact she wouldn't ask, I wouldn't dare do that to 'Er indoors. One mistake and I wouldn't hear the last of it. I'm an engineer, not an artist! Either way, Fran looks as good as she always does and how does she know about 'Mare's Tail' or whatever? If it doesn't make chutney, salad dressing or pesto, why should she know it's got lots of silicone in it? Amazing. Great vlog guys, still envious.

After leaving school, my youngest daughter went to college to do a Hair & Beauty course. My hair has always been long so I used to be her 'dummy' .... One day she SNIPPED my ear-lobe and the blood went everywhere :-) ........ I thought it was quite funny, but she gave up the course and is now in Banking :-) ........
Seeing you weaving and bobbing your head around while Rich was doing his best I had 'Flashbacks' and a sense of Doooooooom! .... But all turned out OK - EH? ;-)

Have you cleaned your stove glass with a used tea bag?
We generally only use loose tea so we haven't tried that yet.
A damp cloth dipped in the ashes from the stove always gets the glass clean.
Rich like your bike, I rebuilt my 20 year old aluminium Giant in June. Rigid frame but full gear set and I’d forgotten what a great ride it is.
