Been fishing Melones since the 70’s…back in the late 70’s and early 80’s we had many 100+ fish days..and that was before spots took over the lake…it was amazing.

I think the camping idea is awesome - you can get the evening bite and the morning bite - plus you can sleep in a bit - you need to do that at Berryessa - those trees in the morning are calling you - or Trinity Lake for some giant smallmouths🎣👍👊

I'm actually a little shocked you've never done this type of trip! This is the routine for my family and I on a weekend getaway. Get to the campground late afternoon and set up camp, I go fish while the wife and kids hang out, I come back and make dinner, we sleep, I get up and fish the morning, I com back and make everyone breakfast, then we leave! I like that I get to see if the morning or evening bite is better at a body of water.

You realize fish are blind right Half these colorful lures and baits they don’t care for so how would a fish see a dark jig especially at night lol unless you got lights right on it idk maybe some predator fish if the jig goes right infront of their face fish like smell better and how you present you’re bait

Greg, I love all of your videos❣️💯👍🏼They bring me back to when my 9 kids were younger and we’d camp out at Lake McClure. I have so many fond memories of teaching them how to fish the ponds for blue gills and release them back into the water ❤ As a child, my parents always took us to Lake Mohave and Havasu before they became “party lakes”😢which is when we went to NorCal where things were still “family friendly”. I was definitely a “River rat” kid back in the day;where campsites were not filled with raging parties, etc.
I love the reservoirs in central Cali. Your videos bring me back to those special memories. My kids are all grown up now, so you help bring them back to life❣️sorry for carrying on about the nostalgia of it all 😬But your videos help me to bask in on those “Glory days” . Cherish every moment, Greg❣️Thanks so much for your quality videos AND the music 🎶 you choose❣️So much of your music choices remind me of George Benson. Yea, we were those obnoxious folk with speakers 🔊 on our wake towers. So sorry about that 😂

That’s the way to do it when it’s blazin hot! We’ve been doing Clear Lake like that for years. Launch @3-5 pm and fish until 11-12, sleep for a few hours and get up at 4 when it’s still dark and start rippin lips again. The frog bite at dusk is epic. Can’t forgot to stop for a burger and cocktails at Richmond Park either.

It's the best of both worlds, you get to fish a late afternoon bite before dark and then you get to fish the early morning bite...You couldn't ask for much better!
