Great ideas/build! That's awesome. About the only thing I would've done differently is used furniture grade (already colored) PVC pipe for the whole motor mount frame. Your probably in a different state or country than him and the price is different, price isn't the same at every store in every city it differs to what each distributor needs to get out of stock
Don't blame the creators for your inability to understand simple economics and how money works not everything is the same price everywhere and that's common sense🤦🤦🤦

Retract the ramp, tye off, and go. this would be quick for anyone and great for us old guys. I am 84 and might even consider a small electric winch. Bill Hale
That's awesome! Thanks for your great video on that awesome paddle board conversion, Genius!!!😮
Glad you liked it, I'd still be skeptical of the motor, I've only put about 10 hours on it without any hiccups. I should hook up an external fuel tank and run the motor in my pond for 100 hours and see what happens
Beware this could be an influencers trying to sell you stuff as I no for a fact the motor is junk 💯 . Can't speak for the boat but many guys I know for sucked into buying the motor and broke within days. Please beware and always look for tell tail sings as influencers always say click the link below.
I built a kayak to git in the back of my car out of Styrofoam board from home depot. The outer skin is called "poor man's fiberglass". It cost me just over $100 and did it over a weekend. Super durable and unsinkable. Worth checking out
@faithfamilyfriendsforever6777 I never even put a link to the motor nor did I ever tell anyone to go check it out and buy one. The whole point of the video is to watch me take the risk of buying Chinese junk and test it out
Great job, this is about the coolest budget project I've seen, and it goes fishing!! The only thing I would add is a divider for the cooler. Piece of foam board and a hot glue gun, you have your dry storage on one side and the ability to use the cooler as it was meant, Ice and drinks.
I have a great idea you might like if you felt like making it really rigid you can put a sheet of marine grade plywood underneath those two by fours cut a hole out for that middle handle and that will squeeze the plywood down to the body of your paddleboard, a little better possibly hope it works out for you, brother
Thanks for the video Hoocho! We really appreciate it and it's been great working with you and I hope you can get this out to a whole lot more customers overseas!
Great video and Idea! I wouldn’t run mud and sand thru it. Like a jet ski the space between impeller and housing is a measured space for optimal performance. When this wears down from sand/mud the performance considerably drops! Try to keep it out of mud and sand. Awesome inexpensive rig that can be used for multiple uses.
Have you considered stabilizing the rear of your motor mount to the boat with some 4 or 6 inch wide x 3ft strips of self stick Velcro? Maybe industrial hook and loop. Look it up. Awesome build
@ocelots4627 yeah the board came with a nice leash and ankle strap, I should just use that. I thought about a sonar, but then I think I need a battery also. I was looking into a sonar module that connects with my phone maybe
@@JoeOceanside try for sonar chirp deeper pro 2 is what I use and it can detect fish up to 500ft and eve do ice fishing and much more, I had slay a lot fish with it 👍 you can be extreme mobile.
I really like this setup and the price point is so affordable. Portability is obviously great. I see all of the comments offering suggestions on improvements. First gen looks pretty good though. Swivel seat on cooler mounted to the rails would be a good start? Or maybe even make it able to slide forward and backwards as you add or remove weight with a pin system? But I thought it looked pretty comfortable. Maybe you could throw a short piece of pvc pipe inside that rubber tube tiller to give it some rigidity? I'm not sure how far you can go (or would try to go) on that gas tank, but it holds such a small amount of fuel, you could always throw a little refill on there without adding hardly any weight. Looks like a blast. Thanks for posting it.
One thing I was thinking is add a rudder to the motor right above the outlet. That way you have some steerage without the motor pushing. Maybe drill a small hole thru the clamp and I don't know pin the clamp so it doesn't tilt unless you take the pin out, look for a really thin locking pin. Loved the paint job, now just add the milk crate possible box and you are Kayak-ish.
Yeah puncture is always a concern. But I've fished on paddleboard and never had that problem. Also there are alot of inflatable boats on the market so it's a pretty reliable material at this point
My maiden fishing outing on my inflatable I caught and boated a shark. On a single chamber craft shark bite is more probable than a treble puncture. Flats and inshore only.
you could put a cross brace through that handle in the middle of the paddle board. That would help lock the 2x4" frame down on the paddleboard even more. Same if you angle the frame or use bungee cord ties to secure the frame to the 2 diagonal handles.
Once you put a motor on a craft it will need to be registered and the registration numbers will need to visible on the hull. Could be challenging to get the DMV to support you.
@@JoeOceansidethey make placards specifically for adhering the numbers/regustration for hanging on inflatables (like zodiacs and such). Just FYI those numbers/decals also stick really well to furniture grade PVC pipe... 😏😂
Electric trawler motor + battery system. This can be used to power a depth sounder 👍. Wouod love to see a little bit bigger version to be a little more sea worthy. If cosco made a 14ft version, would be a twin paddle board size would be amazing.
Dude, that thing's epic! I live in the Ocala National Forest, & am a writer/photog. for a popular fishing mag. There's over 1,000 lakes/bodies of water here within a 15-20 minute drive MAX. Some of the best ones are super deep woods, so this would be👌. The only thing I'd add would be a trolling motor (bass fishing), but tbh I use my kayak paddle 90% of the time anyway...also some sort of shade/bimini would be sweet for summer. Thanks for clueing me in to both products. Tight lines, bud.
You need limit pins on your rod holders, you're going to lose a rod... just take the bases off, cut a slot in them, just use a table saw set to 1.5" a cut out one edge. Reinstall them with the slot facing outwards, then put the rod holder in with them in your trolling position and put a screw in so it can't turn back anymore but can turn forwards when running.
Really cool for the money. I think figuring out a way to mount a kayak seat with a back rest to the motor mount assembly would be something I'd try to do, but if you can do without a back rest it's pretty good just sitting on the cooler.....FishOn.....Jim
@@JoeOceansideI would say the Kayak style seat that is connected to bungees and sits on top of the ice chest with just enough tension to hold the ice chest would be pretty legit.
Somewhere further down there's a post suggesting a canopy/tent rig-up would fit for longer 'things that happen' stuff. I add those rod hangers suggest you can also set up a small, detachable windsurf-type sail. The tent only need be a tunnel affair, something to get out of full sun like an enclosed bimini. The flexibility of the skiff schema on that thing is astounding.
You say it can probably go where most other microskiffs can't; and yes as a microskiff operator with a gas powered prop (great vessel, amazing vessel, one of the best you'll ever see) I would have to tilt prop and start paddling to go as shallow as you, probably drawing .5" more also LOL. That's awesome!
Awesome video. When I first saw this a few weeks ago, I thought "cool". Then this paddle board went on sale at Costco for $199-20= $180. That was a go for me. Got a cooler and fitted on there perfectly. Just waiting for a 12v trolling motor to come and I'm good to go.
I got this paddle board for a few months now its been great . Now i have ordered the same outbound from temu , thanks for the idea man. Shame the weather in uk is not that great man .
I give the motor two months . With moderate to a lot of use . I had a plastic Coleman Johnboat back in the 80's with a Sears motor . It was fun . Used it every weekend in Tampa bay .
That's pretty cool. I think I'd go with a an electric trolling motor instead of a gas engine. A trolling motor is quiet and can be used while fishin'. You've got me thinking about getting one and a motor. I live in Virginia and I'd have to register it to put any kind of motor on it, but that shouldn't be too expensive. That board could be awesome around the marshes for redfish and trout. On calm days it should be okay around the bridge tunnels. But I do wonder about hooking it or poking a hole in it. And keeping gear on it might be tough. But it's so cheap I might have to try it.
Yeah an electric motor would be good too. I just didn't want to have to deal with a battery. If I brought an extra gas can I could run full throttle all day. I think I do need to register it if I am going to be using it alot. Thanks so much for watching and giving me some feedback
That was super nice bro. You're game is functional and lowest budget. Maybe 2.0, swap to electric with a solar panel, just so its even quieter and super long range.
Joe, This is a super use of a clever Costco paddle board! I would love to take that thing down along the southern end of Florida and cross from Miami to Chocoloski, fly fishing the back bays. The beauty of your redesign of a catamaran paddle board is its' flexibility (power/paddle) and the very light weight of the boat. Light weight allows you to launch, setup and haul out easily with one person. As for suggestions, I would have glued a sticky rubber material to the underside of the wooden motor mounts to help spread loads and to reduce any friction induced ware to the surface of the paddle board. I would also mount the cooler on a cross piece so that your weight helps keep the motor/motor mount firmly attached to the top of the paddle board and to tie the whole mount structure together.
This gives me an idea... I wonder if a (largish) water pump could be used to pump water in the opposite direction that you want to travel in. And some kind of tiller handle points the output hose in that direction. For example, a 'trash pump' that does 264 gallons per minute (4.4 gallons per second) is only about $180. But it's not a boat motor... it's a water pump. I don't think water pumps require registration. I don't know about the physics of this kinda system.
Yeah, it's basically the same thing as a Jet Drive. A Jet Drive has an impeller just like a water pump. It's just that with a water pump every inch of hose or pump from the intake to the discharge creates loss of efficiency.
An option could be to mount a seat swivel across those boards where the dry box is, then attach it to that handle so it does not move. That would put your weight on the boards and not directly on the skiff in on spot AND give you a back rest. With webbing, mount a small dry box (maybe in a backpack) onto the back of the seat that can pop off and float if overturned. Then mount your cooler in the front for your fish/lunch/water. Overall, awesome build. I want one now!
Talk about an on-time cool, kool, & kewler yet video..... right as I've been LQQKin' at how to build a watercraft. This has opened my eyes to other possibilities so I do thank you much ! peace out
Yeah Captain Joe, that's pretty bad-arse'd to put that together & I'll be watching again later tonight, I do have a couple of questions so I'll Be Back!! Thanks for the time/video.... peace
If you can inflate it when you want to,.... it can deflate when you don't want it to. After your 13th patch, you'll want something like an Expandacraft modular boat.
Yeah maybe, I've had an isup for years now that I have abused and it never has sprung a leak yet so some of them are built real well. Thanks for watching
Pretty good build. I was going to buy this paddle board, but changed my mind. After seeing you paddling around and showing how stable this is and it tracks nicely, I'm will be buying it if it's still available and same price.
Just some things I see I would change. The rod holders I would spin them 180 degrees so the tips are facing you. Less likely to have rods getting caught up. If I missed it and they swivel and such, then disregard this. And move the cooler more toward the front and use a small chair and sit closer to the back. Also lower the motor into the water further when you are running in deeper water if possible. A trolling motor and a small lithium battery might be a good option too. Look for a HV Lithium battery. Trolling motors have come a long way from when I used them. I love the design and tine you put into something you blow up. Kudos to you and enjoy that thing
Cool. Look out for the man though. In most areas you’ve got a good handful of violations going on there. You could put a motor on a bathtub and those SOBs would want you to have it registered.
This is AWESOME!!! the only thing that jumps out at me is that I think you should turn the cooler around 180 degrees so the cover opens up towards the motor. This would give you access to your stuff without having to get up and walk around it which unbalances the skiff. I'm guessing that you're putting your fish in this same cooler? If so the same convenience for putting fish in it. otherwise the hinges on the wood is a great idea. I also think it would be easy to take a pvc flange that has a little wider diameter than the motor shaft and cut it in half so you can screw it down behind the shaft to keep it from tipping over when you turn it around to go in reverse.
Brooooo. I live in FL also. I am literally about to copy your build and turn that bad boy in a shallow water skiff and start slaying redfish and trout !! I appreciate you uploading this video. Great idea. What did you attach the zip ties to in the back of the boat for the transom? Do you have to register it as a boat though?
Last time I went out in an inflatable with a boat motor I got pulled over and ticketed for no registration. Good luck. Very clever design, functional, dirt cheap
@@arthursmith5409it’s mandatory in Florida, anything that you attach a motor or engine of any type must be registered, it isn’t that hard to do, but you need to fill a few forms and be at the grace of the person attending you at the DMV, so count on a few trips there, and hope that the person that calls your number is having a good day 😂😂😂😂

I swear to God every time I see a RUclipsr do a review they say the price and I go to look at the actual product it’s always like %50 more than they say it was.
Website pricing is typically higher than in warehouse for large items.
Your probably in a different state or country than him and the price is different, price isn't the same at every store in every city it differs to what each distributor needs to get out of stock
Bought one in the summer on Costco day- 1 day for 149.00
Somebody doesn't understand economics at all huh 😂😂😂😂
Don't blame the creators for your inability to understand simple economics and how money works not everything is the same price everywhere and that's common sense🤦🤦🤦
Fishing and recreational industry is seriously taking advantage of people. They will see how we build things on the budget and soon will take advantage of that. Built yours ASAP.
Thanks! Yeah stuff is expensive these days.
@@JoeOceanside I didnt fully see how u secured the wood /2 by 4's to the boat other than mentioning zip ties....are they really all that holds all that wood to the boat??
As You said a great build. You mentioned a truck rack, Consider a retractable set of possibly conduit-down pullouts from the rack. set up the boat so the ramps go between and use a rope pull to pull it up onto the top. Retract the ramp, tye off, and go. this would be quick for anyone and great for us old guys. I am 84 and might even consider a small electric winch. Bill Hale
Yeah that's a good idea
That's awesome! Going to go to Costco next payday and seen that same motor on Temu but was skeptical, but not anymore since you showed me that I don't need to worry about trailer style boats being the only option because I don't have any type of hitch on my truck and not enough space for a boat trailer.
The whole point of the video is to watch me take the risk of buying Chinese junk and test it out
@@JoeOceanside The motor has dropped in price a few bucks, now $240, but they're low on stock, probably because of your video!
Great job, this is about the coolest budget project I've seen, and it goes fishing!! The only thing I would add is a divider for the cooler. Piece of foam board and a hot glue gun, you have your dry storage on one side and the ability to use the cooler as it was meant, Ice and drinks.
Thanks fully I found another marine cooler on the side of the road so I will use both now
Or just use a small dry bag
I have a great idea you might like if you felt like making it really rigid you can put a sheet of marine grade plywood underneath those two by fours cut a hole out for that middle handle and that will squeeze the plywood down to the body of your paddleboard, a little better possibly hope it works out for you, brother
Yeah that would be super strong. Thanks for watching
I dig it, i am going to get one myself. I don’t have a truck but this could work out for me. Very light
Yeah, with some hinges on the skids it would fold up small enough for a car
Thanks for the video Hoocho! We really appreciate it and it's been great working with you and I hope you can get this out to a whole lot more customers overseas!
Very nice build, i might build on myself but with an electric motor. Greetings from Jamaica
Yes running in sand is bad, but this jet drive already has the tolerance of a kitchen-aid blender 🤣
Have you considered stabilizing the rear of your motor mount to the boat with some 4 or 6 inch wide x 3ft strips of self stick Velcro? Maybe industrial hook and loop. Look it up.
Awesome build
I was considering that for my build. I want to be able to use board as a standard SUP as well.
It looks super fun ! You can add a rope to the front and run it to reach for your other for stable yourself on your board
Use long para cord & lan yard In case you fall you can pull like a leash, like a surf board, you can put a sonar that be super awesome.
@ocelots4627 yeah the board came with a nice leash and ankle strap, I should just use that. I thought about a sonar, but then I think I need a battery also. I was looking into a sonar module that connects with my phone maybe
@@ocelots4627 but yeah great ideas, thanks for watching

@ocelots4627 thanks for the tip, I will look for that one
@@JoeOceansidethere are some fish finders that take Double A batteries or are rechargeable.
Yeah that could work
Very creative. This is a great idea for a tender when mooring
Yeah for sure, it would be a good tender
Amazing! Only thing I see that could be an issue is lures puncturing the board at some point
Does not exist my dude. It's not Intex cheap plastic this is PVC and dual chambered.
Hitting oysters or barnicles is probably the biggest risk. I fished out of an inflatable for years, loved it!
you could put a cross brace through that handle in the middle of the paddle board. That would help lock the 2x4" frame down on the paddleboard even more. Same if you angle the frame or use bungee cord ties to secure the frame to the 2 diagonal handles.
FWC is gonna love this !
Yup
Once you put a motor on a craft it will need to be registered and the registration numbers will need to visible on the hull. Could be challenging to get the DMV to support you.
@@shallowcasteryeah it is possible though
@@JoeOceansidethey make placards specifically for adhering the numbers/regustration for hanging on inflatables (like zodiacs and such). Just FYI those numbers/decals also stick really well to furniture grade PVC pipe... 😏😂
@@Internetpilot Zodiacs come with a Cert. of Origin/ Hull # (And Transom )
You could also use Composite Decking for this setup. The wood textures also look really nice.
It’s stronger, UV resistant , and water proof.
The algorithm has targeted me with this video. I live in Lincoln Nebraska. I’d definitely consider this if there was more of those rivers out here.
Hi, thanks for watching

That is awesome, you did a great job and gave me inspiration and ideas. Keep up the great work. Thank you
Awesome! Thank you!
this is great for the price is amazing
Yeah I think so too. Now I have a micro skiff and a nice paddle board
This is great!! Definitely going to look into making myself one now!! Thanks
Awesome would like to build one but it's another watercraft to register and bay taxes on in NC since it has a motor
Yeah here too, it should be a cheap registration fee though
Beautiful job on bringing it to factory finish.
Electric trawler motor + battery system. This can be used to power a depth sounder 👍. Wouod love to see a little bit bigger version to be a little more sea worthy. If cosco made a 14ft version, would be a twin paddle board size would be amazing.
Yeah I agree, a 12 footer would be nice
@jonathantheunacceptable4259 yeah, I really need to do that. Thanks for the tip
@@JoeOceanside Oh, hey, looks like another job for those push pins on a tether!
this is such a great project! I would love to build one for myself!
Really cool for the money. I think figuring out a way to mount a kayak seat with a back rest to the motor mount assembly would be something I'd try to do, but if you can do without a back rest it's pretty good just sitting on the cooler.....FishOn.....Jim
Yeah that's a good call especially on long runs it would be awesome to kick back a but. Thanks for watching
@@JoeOceansideI would say the Kayak style seat that is connected to bungees and sits on top of the ice chest with just enough tension to hold the ice chest would be pretty legit.
Great little build!! I know what my next project is ganna be! 🤙🏻
Awesome
You LEGEND! I'm putting together my shopping list right now! Love it man! I WANNA GO FISHING!
Hey thanks! Glad you liked the rig
Very creative and innovative. You have a futile mind and the courage to think/act out of the box. Well done, sir. Enjoy your creation.

@@JoeOceanside dude I'm down!!
I just bought one on sale at $200 off. Will be delivered tomorrow. Going to use my motorguide spotlock trolling motor in the front. Can’t wait!
Shit, just for the wind alone a trolling motor would be a lifesaver.
That was super nice bro. You're game is functional and lowest budget. Maybe 2.0, swap to electric with a solar panel, just so its even quieter and super long range.
Thanks for the tips! Check out the new night fishing skiff build, its pretty sick ruclips.net/video/NCKAdt5yn20/видео.html

Well done bud! I’m going to Costco right now! Thank you for making this awesome video! ❤️🩹🤍💙
Thanks! I hope you like the board
Joe,
This is a super use of a clever Costco paddle board!
Yeah that's a good idea. There is definitely a lot of room to improve
need to put a folding cup holder on the side of the cooler.
Yes 💯, that's a great idea
@@JoeOceansidecheck out CAMCO. $8 and foldable.

Hey thanks, glad you liked it
Yeah Captain Joe, that's pretty bad-arse'd to put that together & I'll be watching again later tonight, I do have
a couple of questions so I'll Be Back!!
It is a nice board even just for a paddle board. It is a but heavy though compared to other isups
Cheap solution 👍🏼✌🏼🇲🇽
Thanks for watching Mario
Thanks, yeah a trolling motor would be good too. I pointed the rod holders forward because that keeps them out of my way when I need to paddle
Cool. Look out for the man though. In most areas you’ve got a good handful of violations going on there. You could put a motor on a bathtub and those SOBs would want you to have it registered.
Yeah I'll look into that
And thanks for watching
really cool that you think on the easiest solutions with the box and the pipes and the wood and the mantis

Does it have to be registered? Looks like you're in florida
Probably
Great job! Very economical and efficient
Thank you
keep the hat on man 😂 no hate tho love the build
LOL, I'm running out of options here 🤣
This is AWESOME!!! the only thing that jumps out at me is that I think you should turn the cooler around 180 degrees so the cover opens up towards the motor.
I would use the rod holders backwards, that way if there's something in front of you the rods won't bend or snap.
If thr rod holders are back wards then they get in my way when I paddle.
Bagus sekali ini untuk mancing, profil perahu nya kuat sekali...

Yes it will need to be registered I believe
@@JoeOceanside ok thanks!!
Great! Now there's another thing I didn't know that i need to build.
Glad I could help!
Last time I went out in an inflatable with a boat motor I got pulled over and ticketed for no registration. Good luck. Very clever design, functional, dirt cheap
There is a way to register it, if I use it more I will definitely make her legal
That's the question, does a fella have to register this craft?
@@arthursmith5409it’s mandatory in Florida, anything that you attach a motor or engine of any type must be registered, it isn’t that hard to do, but you need to fill a few forms and be at the grace of the person attending you at the DMV, so count on a few trips there, and hope that the person that calls your number is having a good day 😂😂😂😂
@@arthursmith5409and it’s considered a watercraft, if FWC catches you without registration and a hull number you will be at his/her grace, they will decide to either warn/fine you or take your watercraft away, don’t put yourself in that situation.
I really like your paddle board and motor set up and you did a fantastic in-depth explanation. I use an inflatable kayak with an electric trolling motor and to you’re viewers, yes, you need to have any watercraft, with a motor, registered and visible hull numbers. I have been stopped twice and never had an issue with the wardens. But, make sure you know the boating rules if you operate in multiple states. Things like the kill switches, lights, whistles and vests. The wardens have a check list and they will check for everything.
