Funny coincidence: I live in Switzerland and in our rivers we have Barbels that can get very heavy. By now they are by far the most common fish in the river since greylings and trout have nearly completely disapeared. They are known to fight like crazy once hooked.
I caught a few of them while fishing for greyling. once I caught a two footer fishing with a dead bait fish.
Yesterday I was beside the river and a big pack of Barbels was inches from the shore. My son spotted them and did feed them with popcorn. They were so tame they were like aquarium fish. In nearly sixty years I never see mBerbels behave like that.
