What if starclan is like a game a telephone. The faded forever cats give the prophecy, and something gets messed up in translation and then the starclan cats gives the alive cats the prophecy but it doesn’t make any sense because that’s how the game works

The little comic at the end of Tallstar’s Revenge kinda makes this a bit canon Jake did break into Starclan to see him. But yeah I ship Tall x Jake, it’s really cute
What’s weird to me is that Cats like Firestar who frequently received prophecies when they were alive were all frustrated that the prophecies were difficult to understand. Now, Firestar is in Starclan, and suddenly his prophecies are as vague as Spottedleaf’s or Midnight’s. Is it a rule that once you join starclan, you’re not allowed to just speak clearly even if you wanted to?
There was a scene where Firestar had to give a prophecy that was vague and it frustrated him as well. It seems like they don't make the prophecy, they just give them
The cats in starclan are given prophecies from different cats, they(cats in starclan) themselves are given faint detailed prophecies which they give to the cats killed the clans.
Probably. I mean, for them to tell a new prophecy, they clearly have to know what the hell is going to happen, and then they’ll have to take time to think of a jumble of words to tell living cats so that they’ll do whatever. Why can’t StarClan cats just tell the living ones what’s going to happen and what needs to be done, instead of forcing them to figure it out alone? Their lives are already hell, why make them harder?
Starclan logic: Hey, Cinderpelt, want to reborn? You really need to have a life as a warrior! Cinderpelt: Of course. Cinderpelt : *reborn into Cinderheart* Snowkit, Swiftpaw and Tadpole: Why her and not us? We had no life at all!
I personally like to think that cats who die become the age they were happiest at. Cats who died young can’t be older because they were never older and therefore can’t be happiest at the age they never reached. But then there’s those few cats that mess it all up
Vixen Draws I believe if you die as a kit or an apprentice, you can grow in starclan and reach the age you dreamed of, and if so can have 1 kit or so. That’s just what I made up don’t judge me
The ones who went to the forest went to the lake. The ones who stayed in the mountains did not go to the lake- (tribe of rushing water I think- I could be wrong)
i agree, because, if they earn their peace, there are three options: one; they just vanish and dont ever come back because theyre ded again, two; they go to catholic or other religions forms of heaven, or three; theyre reincarnated, and i think three is the mosr reasonable and likely
My theory is that the faded are where prophecies come from. In their third life (eleventh if they were leaders), their minds are muddled and after seeing so much, they know what’s going to happen. Their physical forms are faded, so they’re invisible and can not be seen by the living OR the dead, but they pass vague prophecies to StarClan via possession (that’s a thing so) and they are passed to the living.
I’ve always had a headcannon that the dead Clan cats, after dying after a second time, go to the place where the prophecies and cat powers come from. StarClan can’t sense these forgotten and killed cats, so they don’t know that they exist
Yeah, I've always felt like their was a "second starclan" for all good cats that die twice, and even good cats that just die once in the dark forest water etc. They actually have control of prophecies and are essentially all knowing. Nobody who isn't one of them knows who they are so they can't really contact the living cats or Starclan.
I really want to believe in your headcanon...It's just too cruel to have the Cats fade away for no reason. They already had shitty, short lives. They shouldn't be put through a final kick to the teeth...
I’m pretty sure the authors just put the Wikipedia article about greek mythology into google translate a bunch of times and then the outcome became StarClan.
Personally, I feel that the 'ghost fading' aspect makes no sense. How can a cat be forgotten by its dead family, even if the living cats have? You can't simply forget your child, parent or loved one, especially if they are all in Starclan together. Personally, I believe that their consciousness would be 'transferred', to a different tier of the afterlife where they could be at peace and not have to deliver prophecies or watch over the clans, for their work is done (like an elder retiring). Another theory I have is that they are simply 'reborn' - and the cycle begins again like the transfer of energy. To be fair, I think Starclan cats were always intended to live forever, but the writers felt they needed to add this aspect for the 'final battle' story arc, as it contradicts what we know about Starclan from the earlier books.
i think they added the whole second death thing because if cats didnt die a second time, StarClan would already have millions or even billions of cats in it, so they need a way to keep those numbers wayy down because it would just eventually have infinite cats, which would make it pretty hard to figure out who gives those vague prophecies
dose anyone remember when jayfeather pretended to be a starclan cat And they were all like “No ur not real, come out scrub” And then real starclan cats come and they’re like “howdy do there buster how u doin” And the everyone else is like *omg* they were realll ahhhhhhhh
Actually, I'm planning to write a WC fanfic about a cat born with a mutation that hinders her fighting skill forced to be a medicine cat, but she hates StarClan because she thinks they caused her mutation and keeps her from being a warrior. Her realizing StarClan is manipulating the Clan cats in order to keep themselves in power would be another good reason she hates them!
There's two canon 'One-eye' s ... Plus one is in Starclan, the other Dark forest if I remember correctly. Dark forest one is from Dawn of the Clan, died long before Mapleshade. Starclan one is from The Prophecies Begin, long after Mapleshade died.
The life a clan cat: The cat is born The cat dies The cat joins starclan The cats dies again Their spiritual body goes whoosh while the soul is recycled and all the old memories are ripped out and the thoughtless soul is shoved into a random kits body that can be a kittypet, rogue or loner, a clan cat or a lion.
Id like to think there's another layer of Starclan. When a cat fades away from starclan, or their ghost gets stabbed by a dagger they move up to the higher tier(with the exception of dark forest cats) and can control the weather, and reincarnate cats. They don't have a specific form, just very powerful souls. OR There is basically cat gods. Makes sense, right? There's a heaven, but what about leaders or gods of the clans? The gods can control the weather that effects the clans and reincarnate cats. They can definitely see in the future and pass down the prophecies down to Starclan for them to pass down to the living cats, because the cat gods cannot speak to the living cats themselves, and Starclan hardly knows the cat gods exist. When the cat gods pass down the prophecy, a lot is lost in passing it down which is why all the prophecies are so vague.
Starclan cat #1: not to alarm anyone, but I keep seeing that Mapleshade character following around a lot of cats. Cat #2: I've seen some others too. Should we warn the living cats? Cat #3: no.
I have a headcanon that this purgatory called the Forest of Endless Night exists. it’s cold snow covered forest in which cats who don’t deserve to go to the dark forest walk endlessly until their sins have been stripped away and can leave to roam the outskirts of StarClan (TFoEN is in the white shining border between the Dark Forest and StarClan)
Think of it like this, systems always benefit those in power when they were made. Starclan made the code, the code is built around their worship and things that benefit them (in some convoluted way)
Fading away is a stupid addition to the lore and I have chosen to ignore it for years. Plottening starclan and trying to give it lore was a really bad idea.
Tobyn Walker if cats are fading, what if they just remember each other? they could tell stories of nearly forgotten cats to the newcomers to make sure they don’t fade away.
Tobyn Walker, I agree, but if the cats don't fade in Starclan there is too many Starclan cats. And I don't think they can increase their hunting grounds, and if not Starclan would be CROWDED!! But since they do fade there is enough space to walk!
I suspect that its based off of Mexican beliefs about the afterlife. Check out the movie "Coco". Basically you only life in the underworld so long as the living remember you and then you die a second time. Famous cats, like the founders of the clans, never die because their stories have been passed from generation to generation without fail.
Another things that’s absolute bs and makes no sense: Jayfeather adamantly yells at starclan cats for a good long while about how “well why don’t you guys help you lazy pieces of shit” and they respond “uhhh we have no control over the lives of the living cats”. They go through this many times. But oops! Last book comes around! Congrats now they can suddenly... come down and interfere with the living cats. You know, the exact thing they said they couldn’t do!
@@starvoltnexus3139 I swear some of these quotes are so funny if anyone reads them without context lmao. You really cant make this stuff up. I sometimes wonder if the authors are aware how bonkers all this shit really is or if we just scrutinize too hard what are esentially children books xd
Moonkitti spilling the TEA. Starclan's whole ish confuses me...they should have, idk, been waaaay better with continuity. But at this point I don't think they can make it any better without making it worse.
This just emphasizes the importance of worldbuilding before getting started on your book. Like, I get that in the beginning, they wanted StarClan to be all mysterious; but, that doesn't mean the authors don't know about them. Especially since StarClan does have an important role to the clans.
Ok I have a theory that the prey in star clan doesn't exist it's just this kind of matter thing, like the trees and grass, the star clan cats don't have to eat (like the dark forest cats) they basically eat to feel alive.
I think the cats fade away when they're forgotten is a reference to the beliefs in Mexico. They remember their deceased relatives so they stay in the Land of the Remembered, and those who are forgotten fade away to the Land of the Forgotten. The movie Coco actually illustrates this nicely. Everything else that you mentioned (including the rules and stuff about fading away) doesn't make sense. Also, I heard that Starclan was very divided on Ashfur. ALSO, I heard that cats can choose what age they want to stay as (depends on when they were happiest in life, which explains why Yellowfang is really old) or to keep their injuries.
Honestly, his death was kinda funny to me. Just: Scourge: hell yeah I killed Thunderclan's leade- Firestar: guess again bitch Scourge: *WHAT HOW?!* Firestar: *go to ded Scourge*
I never noticed the Fading Echos thing, I've always wondered why it was called that. Huh. I wonder if cats who give lives to leaders fade faster? Do they have a choice in whether they give a life, or do they just kinda show up and are like "oh I guess this is happening"? Edit: I just had a thought, if they just suddenly teleport to the new leader's ceremony, I wonder how they know what life to give? Maybe they just pick one idk

4:38 -- somehow I remember there being something about it in Firestar's Quest, when firestar is hearing all the starclan flaws and he sees a really faint cat and bluestar's like, "Oh, yeah, she's fading into nothingness like the rest of starclan. And there's a fifth clan we don't really care about anymore, have a nice existential crisis" but maybe I'm just misremembering that.
I also remember i believe it was bluestar who said this idk?? But some starclan cat said during a gathering when clouds covered the sky the gathering stopped and the starclan cat supposedly told someone that starclan doesn’t control the clouds???
In the darkest hour didnt bluestar say something on page 263, “Star clan does not rule the forest.” “Starclan cares for every cat in the forest, From the blind helpless kit to the oldest elder lying in the sun. We watch over them. We send omens and dreams to the medicine cats. But the storm was no doing of OURS, we watch, but WE don’t interfere.” -Bluestar talking to firestar about chapter 13 when he was about to tell the truth about tigerstar but thunder interrupted the gathering ‘A sign’ as tall star says
I think the next arc may actually kind of focus on this. Since it's about the warrior code being in danger of being totally abolished, ad the clans going rogue, Starclan might actually be in some deep shit
@@vikuly8 it's set in a fantasy world based off the UK however with American wildlife shoved in hap-hazardly as plot points, with blatant disregard for their effect on the otherwise-British ecosystem. IDK if there's much of a difference between the places).

3:14 Actually though, poor Rainwhisker. This dude was Whitestorm's kid, survived the journey, spent his entire life faithfully going on hunting patrols, marking the borders, and helping to rescue others multiple times, then got squashed by a tree branch during a storm... between books.
Also, in the Darkest Hour Bluestar tells Firestar that Starclan don’t control the weather when he is angrily yelling at her for stopping him telling everyone about Tigerstar.
Kylie DoesArt I do believe I heard that somewhere and it also makes sense. Something about when they completely fade they are reincarnated into their favourite clan as a kit. They lose all memories and maybe traits? And live on as a recycled soul
@@seanlu5233 Idk maybe I just assumed this because of the three. They were reincarnated and really only got the pelt color yet, besides Jayfeather, they also had none of the memories. But! Totally agree with you, Mapleshade! At least here we can live, breathe and interact with the living without having something serious to talk about or say dumb vague ominous stuff. Plus we DO eat but it's often whenever we don't have a living visitor! pfft
Mapleshade the dark forest is basically a “f Starclan club” that was really lame and everyone just hung around on their phones Until the jock (Tigerstar) shows up and rally’s everyone up (probably with a speech) and makes it something really cool and active
Truce Truce Yea, pretty much. I mean, we've been baddies for a long time, but most of us just kinda hang around. Then the whole battle with Starclan happened, and yada yada I'm still around so we've still got a strong leader.
Hi moonkitti! I hadn't watched ur channel in like three years.. God I miss you.. I remember watching ur videos everyday... I'm so sorry.. And boy I feel a huge wave of nostolgia.. I miss you
My headcanon is that Starclan doesn't really have that much power, but they made think the clans that they do to be sure to be worshipped because they love it. Like, the clouds going in front of the moon aren't really Starclan doing, they're just clouds, they just pretend that's their doing. All they can really do is giving life. And they insist on keeping 4 clans because while the cats are buisy fighting each other, they doesn't have time questioning Starclan doing.
I remember seeing somewhere that one of the Erins said that once a cat fades away they just reincarnate where the believe the belong, but idk how true that is..
Mudclaw, to me, deserved to go to StarClan. There's no way he could have known Onewhisker had actually been appointed deputy. The only cats who knew this were from ThunderClan, and Mudclaw had every reason to believe they had an interest in making Onewhisker leader. I honestly don't understand why anyone from WindClan decided to trust Onewhisker. Siding with Mudclaw would have been the most logical thing to do.
doesnt change the fact he tried to kill onewhisker and undermine the word of a dying leader and plotting with a cat from another clan. idk. its been so long since ive read it
^Watches exactly 2:14 of this video^ Honestly, I'd rather not try to explain this. Let's just go with Erin Hunter has terrible memory and completely forgets what her own cat characters did in their pasts, and just randomly pulls straws... "Welp, time for Mapleshade to die!" ^Pulls a stick out of a cup labeled 'Kitty Cat Stuff'^ "Aw, dang, Mapleshade has to go to the Dark Forest....I liked their pelt, though! Why sticks! Why!?"
@Isabella Silva Now, I know mapleshade is still kind of insane, but holy shit all of this could be avoided if either: thunderclan let her stay at least until her kits were grown OR if riverclan actually let her stay after her half riverclan kittens dIED WHILE TRYING TO CROSS THE RIVER TO GO TO RIVERCLAN LIKE WTF IS THIS BULLSHIT why is at least appledusk not in the dark forest? literally, none of this would've happened if they just let her into fucking riverclan.
I think what Yellowfang ment was that he still cared for squirlfligt, so there a chance he would stop being angery at squirlflight and squirleflight(along with others) could forgive him. I don't think Mappleshade would be able to make up with appledusk or anyone else she had killed. Also, Ashfur going to starclan is a punishment. Once Squirleflight and Bramblestar go to Starclan, hell have to spend the rest of his ghost life watching squirleflight be with bramblestar That's just my theory though.
Sad thing is that cats in starclan will be forgotten eventually yet some of the most evil and satanic cats *cough* *cough* tigerstar *cough* *cough* will most likley live on forever in the darkforest because queens tell their kits his story everytime they see something that resembles him in any way.... weird huh?
Wouldn't the fading away when forgotten thing motivate cats to do something drastic to be remembered? Sure they might suffer in the dark forest for a long time but if someone is afraid of fading away to nothing and had the option to stay awake/alive forever, would it be worth it?
I don’t know about the already dead cats but in Crowfeather trial, they do actually start something. Windclan sets up a rock tower for all the lost windclan cat (and I believe the other clans do as well) and before gatherings, Blackstar lists off the cats that were lost during the great battle.
Something I like about the Wings of Fire prophecies is that each arc focuses on one prophecy and that they have more than one meaning to each character. The Jade Mountain prophecy doesn't even get fulfilled, it gets stopped. I love the idea of only one prophecy that the characters worry about during each arc. It definitely lets the series expand without forcing something to happen one way.
I'm really glad that you brought up the concept of how it's kind of silly that they clans don't just combine forces- it's something that's been on my mind for years. If different clans had different traditions, roles, etc, then it would make SO much more sense for them to resist becoming one big clan, but really the only big difference (that I can recall, it's been years since I actually read the books) is that Riverclan cats like to swim and the other clans don't. There's so much potential with world-building in the series (both in terms of the clans and Starclan) that the Erins just never took advantage of...
So, here's my theory: The creators of Warrior Cats don't actually pay that much attention to the plot [which is why we have overpowered characters like Firestar] and they just...don't plan out these things. Remember: The reason Warrior Cats is popular [at least to me, feel free to have your own opinion] is because it is targeted to *children* and a lot of people who read the books growing up didn't realize that it is weird with these things. To me, even though warriors is an amazing book series, it is poorly written at times...especially things with Starclan. Edit: Wow, this got highlighted? Thank chu very much!
When I read OotS for some reason i thought that when StarClan cats fade, they don't fade fully and just can't interact with any other cats, and are able to hunt and live-die in peace.
moonkitti," we do this to get rid of extra love interests." (Mapleshade brutally killing Spottedleaf because for SOME reason firestar i'snt allowed to CHOOSE who he wants as a mate in starclan AND graystripe APPARENTLY DOES. don't ask me how i know that graystripe will choose silverstream over Millie in the ununderstandable starclan.)
@@eeveedee756 Apart from it being cannacally stated that the only reason Graystripe actually took Millie as a mate is because she reminded him of-yours truly-Silverstream
I think Skystar is still kicking in StarClan because he lives on in the very concept of SkyClan while Mapleshade is just a normal cat that's being forgotten
innocehnt if she hadn’t broken the code brokenstar wouldn’t have happened, there wouldn’t be a threat to the clans. The threat of brokenstar ensured rusty would join the clans because they needed more cats. Firestar had leafpool who had the three. Jayfeather went back in time to convince the original lake cats that they should move to the mountains.... if that hadn’t happend then the clans wouldn’t have happend 😋😊
I feel like skystar and shadowstar and all of the original leaders are still there bc there are stories told about then so all of the cats remember them
Yay! I love your comedy videos, but these analysis ones are the best. To talk about Cloudtail and Mothwing, I feel like the Warriors afterlife is sort of based off of Christianity, which states that if you don't believe in God you won't go to heaven, no matter how good you were. I also feel like Starclan doesn't really exist, and is just an illusion the clan cats have. For example, a leader must starve herself before speaking to Starclan? Doesn't that mean she's really just hallucinating? If these things are true, any rogue, kittypet, or non-believer will never be able to see Starclan. ~Love, Cerealspoons
Well, medicine cats don't have to starve themselves, it is just the leaders that cannot eat before sharing with them. Good point though! I had never thought about it like that.
Blossomness Studios thank you so much for correcting me! You're right, and I apologize. Medicine cats don't have to fast before sharing with Starclan, it's the leaders that do. I wonder what sets medicine Cats apart from leaders that causes these rules to be set... maybe they just have a stronger faith?
Well, it is never very clear and the fasting thing is only mentioned a few times, so maybe it only matters on special occasions, like when a leader receives lives or when a leader asks for help from Starclan, so what if they only have to fast when they go to the moonpool/stone aside from the regular half-moon medicine cat meet-ups.
my headcanon is that when starclan cats fade away, they become reincarnated as a new kit with no memory of their past life, they simply have the brain and mind of a new cat, but there's a way they can remember it. let's say this reincarnated kit was a brave leader in their past life who saved their clan and the clan they saved still tells their story to this day, if they hear those stories, they may begin to remember their past life. when this new reincarnated cat dies in this life, their new one, they become a ghost and they'll stay a ghost for eternity. cats like jayfeather, cinderheart, lionblaze, and dovewing do not have this happen to them, instead, when they fade away they die, their spirit just disappears, like you said.
Your "Tigerstar was right" part made me recall a story I came up with, set years and years after the books and in yet another new territory, where, in order to keep from always fighting eachother, but still being 5 clans, no clan, except for the cats working as messangers, knows where the other clan's territory is, none of their territories borders another one, and there are several open areas that's free range for every cat/clan to hunt/gather materials on should their territory not provide enough for them for a time.
Honestly I always thought that when a cat in Starclan or the Darkforest faded or died² they were just kinda randomly reincarnated as a cat somewhere else.
Let me get this straight.
Clan cats- Not dead.
Ghost cats- Half dead.
StarClan cats- Very much dead.
Reincarnated cats- Imma never die.

i agree, because, if they earn their peace, there are three options: one; they just vanish and dont ever come back because theyre ded again, two; they go to catholic or other religions forms of heaven, or three; theyre reincarnated, and i think three is the mosr reasonable and likely

This is a great AU! Do you mind if I write something using this?
Sure! :3
Yeah, same, I felt like they were the ones who controlled destiny.

That Starclan headcanon would be interesting to see in a fanfic where a medicine cat starts questioning them.

The life a clan cat:
The cat is born
The cat dies
The cat joins starclan
The cats dies again
Their spiritual body goes whoosh while the soul is recycled and all the old memories are ripped out and the thoughtless soul is shoved into a random kits body that can be a kittypet, rogue or loner, a clan cat or a lion.
OR
There is basically cat gods.

Can they do ANYTHING to Warriors without making it worse?
Starclan should be more powerful and astute
This just emphasizes the importance of worldbuilding before getting started on your book. Like, I get that in the beginning, they wanted StarClan to be all mysterious; but, that doesn't mean the authors don't know about them. Especially since StarClan does have an important role to the clans.

That never really made much sense to me either.
Naughty prey goes to Starclan...
To be caught over and over again :)

Starclan really screwed Mudclaw over tbh, It's even worse when you consider how Onewhisker turned out as a leader afterwards.
doesnt change the fact he tried to kill onewhisker and undermine the word of a dying leader and plotting with a cat from another clan. idk. its been so long since ive read it

I think what Yellowfang ment was that he still cared for squirlfligt, so there a chance he would stop being angery at squirlflight and squirleflight(along with others) could forgive him. I don't think Mappleshade would be able to make up with appledusk or anyone else she had killed.

I don’t know about the already dead cats but in Crowfeather trial, they do actually start something. Windclan sets up a rock tower for all the lost windclan cat (and I believe the other clans do as well) and before gatherings, Blackstar lists off the cats that were lost during the great battle.

So, here's my theory:
The creators of Warrior Cats don't actually pay that much attention to the plot [which is why we have overpowered characters like Firestar] and they just...don't plan out these things.
Remember: The reason Warrior Cats is popular [at least to me, feel free to have your own opinion] is because it is targeted to *children* and a lot of people who read the books growing up didn't realize that it is weird with these things. To me, even though warriors is an amazing book series, it is poorly written at times...especially things with Starclan.

nuseabug the3rd As much as the fanbase hates Millie she probably will become Grey’s mate in starclan due to them being together for longer time.

I think Skystar is still kicking in StarClan because he lives on in the very concept of SkyClan while Mapleshade is just a normal cat that's being forgotten
Starclan needs the clans to exist because if they get forgotten they fade....I think
Starclan is autocorrected to Satanism....
Squirrelflight is autocorrected to Waterproofing.
Do I spy perfection in my notifications?
If Yellowfang hadn’t broken the warrior code, the clans wouldn’t exist...
How
if she didn't give prophecies the clans would have broken up
innocehnt if she hadn’t broken the code brokenstar wouldn’t have happened, there wouldn’t be a threat to the clans. The threat of brokenstar ensured rusty would join the clans because they needed more cats. Firestar had leafpool who had the three. Jayfeather went back in time to convince the original lake cats that they should move to the mountains.... if that hadn’t happend then the clans wouldn’t have happend 😋😊
@@Rainecat you're actually right lol

I feel like skystar and shadowstar and all of the original leaders are still there bc there are stories told about then so all of the cats remember them
Wait, so cats might fade away after they’re forgotten?
*It’s Coco all over again.*
800 smug mapleshades and a few dark tabby toms is how I've always personally imagined the dark forest and that is how it will stay
Starclan cats are just me, old, shiny and they think their smart.

Well, it is never very clear and the fasting thing is only mentioned a few times, so maybe it only matters on special occasions, like when a leader receives lives or when a leader asks for help from Starclan, so what if they only have to fast when they go to the moonpool/stone aside from the regular half-moon medicine cat meet-ups.
how about when a leader loses a life?
@@pebblesss12 I'm not sure... if anyone has any theories I'd love to hear them!
my headcanon is that when starclan cats fade away, they become reincarnated as a new kit with no memory of their past life, they simply have the brain and mind of a new cat, but there's a way they can remember it. let's say this reincarnated kit was a brave leader in their past life who saved their clan and the clan they saved still tells their story to this day, if they hear those stories, they may begin to remember their past life. when this new reincarnated cat dies in this life, their new one, they become a ghost and they'll stay a ghost for eternity. cats like jayfeather, cinderheart, lionblaze, and dovewing do not have this happen to them, instead, when they fade away they die, their spirit just disappears, like you said.
Okay, so think about this. What if after the cats in Starclan die for the 2nd time or are forgotten, they BECOME the higher power cats?
2:50 that rock picture scared he hell out of me..
"Oh wait, did I say good cats?"

Starclan isn't a religion anymore, it's a magic system.
