"the kits can only be named after their appearances" me to traditional name people: so you are telling me that... fernkit looked like a fern? brightkit looked bright? thornkit looked like a thorn? *YOUR TELLING ME THAT BRAMBLEKIT LOOKED LIKE BRAMBLES*
I think it’s a tradition to get queens and leaders confused and dumbfounded before naming the kits, apps, and warriors so everyone feels ashamed of their names :)
I changed the comment a little bit because I was trying to be cool and be noticed, so I censored it. I was going to originally delete it but everyone liked it so much I decided to just change it. ;)
Lunar Kitsune I thought Star Flower would stay as Star Flower since she’s an ancient- unless she made a clan, then it would be Flowerstar- and I would totally make an OC who’s in FlowerClan then
I had a cat character named ‘Neverkit’, named after her mother believed that she would not survive as a kitten due to being the runt of the litter, and the most deformed. But Neverkit grew up, and pushed through disability. She soon was named Neverbreath for her warrior name, because she took a lot of responsibility as an apprentice and was known to never stop her work to ‘take a breath’. She’s always had something to prove. If these traditionalists read her name they’d never approve of it, but it’s the story that compels the name. So if Fidgetkit was a fidgety kitten, that would make sense.
I was told to change my OC Blackbird’s name because it was one word. I stared at my 5 paragraph backstory explaining that she was born as Blackkit, appointed as medicine cat apprentice as Blackpaw, and became Blackbird because of her major accomplishment- figuring out that it was a disease in the local birds that was getting cats sick, and then finding the cure for said disease. I immediately excused myself from that role play.
Love the backstory, but TECHNICALLY if they are arguing that it wasn't an actual name because it was one word, does that mean they disapprove of Stormcloud?
Random kit : cloudtail how did you get your warrior name Cloud tail: my fluffy tail Random kit: leafpool how did you get your warrior name Leafpool: my kind personality Random kit: fireheart how did you get you- Fireheart: HEART BURN
@@mereldegroot1889 Did you not read Firestar's Quest? Firestar and Sandstorm travel to the gorge together and reinstate SkyClan because Cloudstar's ghost told Firestar to. Firestar appointed Leafstar as leader and they had Squirrelkit and Leafkit shortly after returning home.
I had a oc names “Orcapelt” because it was a clan set in the Pacific Northwest. Someone got mad at me because “cats wouldn’t know what orcas were!1!!!1”. If they talk to ghosts in the sky I think they can figure out what orcas are.
In a weird warrior cats role play I was doing with my friends, one of my friends was Tailpaw and I was giving him his warrior name, and I was _very_ tempted to give him the name, Tailtail
I accidentally said "puddleshine" but he isn't Violetshine's mother, Pebbleshine is. Handy Puddleshine Pebbleshine identification guide: Puddleshine is the tom medicine cat of Shadowclan. He is Brown with white spots. He is alive. Pebbleshine was a she-cat warrior of Skyclan. She was white with brown spots. She is dead.
The Erins seem to be really loving the "Shine" suffix lately. We have Willowshine, Puddleshine, Pebbleshine, Violetshine, probably more that I'm too lazy to think of right now. This may not seem like much compared to the amount of "furs" and "tails" We have but it just kind of came out of nowhere since Willowshine. Not that it's a bad suffix or anything, just a tad overused in the books imo
I have never had a problem with Hawkfrost's name. I always thought of it as the cold (tonally, not literally) gaze of a hawk hunting for prey, which fits with his icy blue eyes. If he was a Tribe cat, the name Hawk's freezing gaze would make much more sense.
During a RP, I used my female WindClan OC, named 'Lightgrass'; “light” for her simple, pale gray coat, and “grass” for her grace on the moor (like how the grass bends in rhythm to the wind). Got kicked because it was “too obvious” and “without meaning”.
if that rule existed in the books 90% of the characters would disappear graystripe… sandstorm..crookedjaw..bluefur..snowfur...snowbush that's just a few lightgrass is probably more thoughtful than all of these hjdgg
I'm sorry, was this on Vizavi's Forest Territory RP on Roblox? If so, it was false kicking, and you have all right to report them. Your name was perfectly valid.
On amino, I have a tomcat called: Quailfeather. A grey-blue tabby cat with one yellow and one blue eye. Is blind in the blue due too.. Rp incidents. Has a scar on his neck and three scars on his left shoulder. Very fluffy. And I got _kicked_ because the leader said, "WhAt iS a QuAil? QuAilS dOnt ExiSt! iM kiCkinG yoUuUuuu uwu" So. Uh. Okay?
Lol i thought of it that way too but also that he was sort of evil/strong like a hawk and frost cause he has a cold personality(or just cause of his eyes)
Unacceptable Names: Green Hammer Moon Jay Song What about Greenflower. And Moonflower. And Jayfeather. And we can't forget the best warrior cat, Hammernose. Named after his massive nose.
Wait, there was actually a cat named Hammernose!? I never thought the Hunters would give a cat a name with "Hammer" in it. I heard that Tigerclaw was originally gonna be named Hammerclaw, but they changed it because hammers are a human tool. (Not saying this to excuse people who are assholes about it, of course. I just didn't think something like that would be in the canon books.)
Whitewater doesn't get enough credit for her name, they could have called her Whitefur or Whitepelt or another boring white name, but they were creative instead and I think it's really pretty :>
Honestly? I friggin’ _love_ the “untraditional” names. “Billystorm” and “Snowbush” are so neat and I honestly can’t describe how much I like them without saying your main point, it’s just adorable. When I read that Sparkpelt was given “pelt” as a suffix rather than “fire” or “blaze” or “shine” I was actually a bit disappointed
while we're talking about names, who looked at their child and goes "ah yes, running. what a perfect name for a child that can't even see yet" not a bad name, im just curious on the thought process behind it lmao
And Yellowfang. Like, her mother HAD to know she was NOT yellow, and did she name her after her bad hygiene even if she was JUST born? And poor Yellowkit must've had trouble brainstorming for names for when she would grow older! Like most kits do.
"longkit" (tc, longtail) "smallkit" (tc, smallear) "stumpykit" (shc, stumpytail) "wetkit" (shc, wetfoot) "kinkkit" (shc, kinkfur) "tornkit" (wc, tornear) "raggedkit" (shc, raggedstar/pelt) "onekit" (wc, onestar/whisker) (RAINFLOWER U SUCK SO I WONT PUT CROOKEDSTAR IN) "whiskerkit" (wc, whiskernose) "loudkit" (rc, loudbelly) "heavykit" (rc, heavystep) "clawkit" (shc/rogue, clawface, istg why would u name your kit clawkit knowing they would be named clawpaw in a few moons😭) (yellowfang had a good reason to name brokenstar brokenkit so not including. in case you didn't know its because she felt broken after hopekit and wishkit died and that she had kits as a medicine cat, plus more i might have forgotten.) "tallkit" (shc, tallpoppy [also tallstar but he had a reason to be named tallkit. sandgorse wanted him to be named for his tail] anyway who named her that? idk brokenstar or raggedstar tho.) maybe the pelt looked like something the cats would run on. Take Runningwind for example, his pelt is brown like a desert, maybe. cats could run on deserts. Or thr kit was just faster than the other kits at something? idk

"Sometimes they are a little bit boring." *Looks at Lionblaze* Lionblaze: *Sweats nervously* I am eating prey now. Yes, that's a good sentence to put in the book.
Heh, I remember running into this when I joined a warriors roleplay for a while at fourteen. Our group had never used traditional naming, so I wasn't even aware it was a thing. So when my character eventually became the leader of one of the roleplay's clans, I wanted to make sure all the other characters I named got really interesting and unique names. So we ended up with characters such as Cascadingrain, Thundercrash, and Auroraflame. My personal favorite was a character who was a medicine cat's kit named "Neverkit" because "he should've never existed" that I gave the eventual warrior name "Neverfear" as a resolution to his arc of proving his worth to the clan. His roleplayer loved it. Theeeen a bunch of hardassed traditional naming purists descended upon us out of nowhere and started scolding everybody about how silly the character names were. >P They had particular umbridge with "Ghostwhisper" because "cats don't know what ghosts are" and like... hello? All of StarClan, what?
Fun fact my friend's warrior OC is named Breadface Edit: since this comment is decently popular, I've decided to add my interesting OC names Freezenose Darkcherry Clawberry Appletail Sweetterror
I think Hawkfrost is considering how he is as sneaky as a hawk about his "prey" and he is cold (mean) but he was named that before he was evil so I dont know. The hawk is cold.
"but he was named that before he was evil so I dont know" To be fair, even their mothers seem to have the prophetic knowledge required to give kits names that would only make sense when they became full-fledged warriors/medicine cats. Like, do you expect me to believe that Yellowfang had yellow teeth even as a kit?
@@catbatrat1760 yellowfang could have had yellow teeth or she really liked the color yellow or had smt to do with it so her mom was like, “ yessir name her after a connection “
Ugh. I LOVE traditional naming, I even agree with it! But I HATE it when people attack other people because they weren't "following the rules". I also HATE it, HAATE it, when people think that "traditional naming" is canon. It's NOT canon, it's fanmade. (Edit: tysm for 400+ likes!!!)
I *HATE* when that happens on roleplay sites! My OC is named Sunnyskies, and people are all like, "You have to be Sunskies" or "Sunny isn't a real prefix" or "Skies isn't a real suffix" It's *SO ANNOYING*
People don’t like the name “Ambermoon?” That’s so graceful! Also I’m with you on the traditional naming rules. What do you mean I can’t name my OC Berrystorm???
Honestly my only naming rule, that I follow, is not to use man made things( unless the cat specifically knows what this is, so it makes more sense for a kitty pet to know what a door, or car is, but a clan cat might not.), or something that these cats wouldn’t know, like a quasar or supernova, or super specific scientific terms in general. But just because in the books don’t mention a specific plant or mineral or whatever, what makes OC’s fun is the fact that we don’t have to play by the books rules, and if your cat is named Spaceshipfur, whatever man, it’s your life.
I agree. Because my oc Angelsong was, at one point, a kittypet who belonged to a religious family, She wanted to keep her prefix. I also have an oc named opaleye. Some cats know what an opal is... right? but this is coming from someone with like 10 prophet ocs and one named "starspeck", my word might not be very important...
I mean, if you want to be technical, they were named with the ancient big-cat clans in mind: LionClan, LeopardClan, TigerClan. It doesn't make too much sense if you think about it, but what does, in this series? Let people do what they want.
in conclusion, warrior cats is a book series for kids about feral cats who live in a society out in the forest and believe in their dead cat ancestors. also dovewing's eyes are gre-
Can I just say, I’ve always been in love with Birchfall’s name. It’s really beautiful to me and I can even begin to explain why I love it because I just do..
I actually quite liked Hawkfrost it was the most different name of the time, and it makes sense considering how dark he gets later on. I also assume it was because of the color of his fur and the blue of his eyes-in almost every fanart of him ever it's almost an eerie blue-the kind seen in winter. Certainly better than TWIGBRANCH lol Even with the explanation of her name it's still stupid and when one of the authors said they'd have named her Twigshade.....I mean that's not much better but better than like two words that mean the same thing put together lol.
@Average Person Who used to be a random person. Yeah that too I thought it made perfect sense he had hawk colored fur, and the frost could either be brilliant foreshadowing or his eye color
Its doesnt Id like to believe it does but it doesnt or else we probably wouldn't be having a crowfrost Or anything else dor that matter because since hawk and moth hawkfrost mothwing they had never used it before Edit:at least as a suffix
Okay, I agree actually. I was on a server and someone’s name was MuddyPath and everyone and their mothers were attacking them and accused them for not reading the books. Saying that since no cat had it as a name it wasn’t possible so they were forced to change their name to MudCloud. Yet cats know what being Muddy is and it’s fine honestly. And being named after appearance? There’s going to be lots of pelt, fur and claw suffix then. For HawkFrost’s name usually when I don’t understand why that got that suffix I look up what it means, and (if I remember correctly stay with me here) it means cold and calculating? So it makes sense for Hawkfrost since he planned out for Brambleclaw to become leader by killing FireStar with the fox trap. Also I have an Oc named DandelionTail so anyone can fight me.
Yeah I agree. However when making ocs I of course have my own preferences as everyone does. Dandeliontail is a perfectly fine name and could be used in the books even. However if I was making an oc I probably wouldn't call it dandeliontail just because my personal preference is for shorter names that are easier to say. However I would never inflict this rule on to others
Shmurple Purple I agree! Like Moon said, everyone has their own preferences! The only thing I won’t accept is like, if it’s said like they don’t know that these the things are called. Like specific breeds of dog you know ?
I agree muddypath was a perfictly fine name i have an oc called marblefeather oh no i didnt read the books -_- im honestly tired sure moon isnt alowed screw that im still using moon cuz if they ignore it in the warrior cat series so will I
Tbh I thought Hawkfrost was named because he was brown and tabby (hawks have barred feathers) and got -frost because he had blue eyes. I never knew people took issue with it. But my shameless self insert is Mellowstep so what do I know
7:02 this reminded me that years back, I went on a warrior cats role playing forum and there was this character that everyone was making fun of. I think their name was “Littlestool” or something like that. Anyways, they got so done with everything that anytime they possibly could, they would write *craps on **______* and everyone hated them. They never banned them though, so it was just chaos. I stopped going to role play forums after that, but I thought this was a neat story to share. I have no idea Moonkitti saying those words brought up that specific memory, but yeah.
There's even a character named Windflight who was half Windclan so clan-related suffixes and prefixes from one of the earlier super editions (Crookedstar's Promise)
I totally agree I love these names that dip into the territory of “it doesn’t have to make sense to be cute or work” I literally have a background oc named Mistmelt and an elder named Seaweedwhisker
SOFIA LEE (Student) yea!!! I have this headcannon that he has these long, thick whiskers that drop down and since they live by the sundown place his mother basically just said “ha look! It looks like seaweed!”
The only rule I follow with names is that the cats have to know what the thing is. Like with an OC of mine. angelkit, he was a still born albino kit. At the time a loner named frost was living with the clan and made the comment that he was an angel now. When redlight, the mother of angelkit, asked what an angel was, frost told her it’s the twoleg equivalent of those in starclan. There, now the mother giving the name knows what it is. So she can name her kits “angel” which she did for angelkit.
Midna Magic I have a cat named Cobaltchaser, but my Clans do know what some gemstones are called, because they’re some of the original Clans and some outsiders.
I like giving cats names from parts of other words. Such as Buttermelt As a kit, they were called Butterkit, named after butterflies and buttercups. I also like taking a word, such as Hawthorn, and making it a name. Hawkit was a prickly kit who grew up to be Hawthorn. It's very fun >:3 Also once on a roleplaying game, I had to change my OC's name from Scarclaw to Scarredclaw because Scar _wasn't on the list of usable prefixes_ 🙄
Lol in the unacceptable prefixes was: Green Hammer Moon JAY Song Jay is unacceptable??? Jayfeather!! You're not accepted!! Scoot, out of Thunderclan now! (I love Jayfeather he's great)
It's actually really cool seeing you make these longer discussion videos. You're really good at looking at these types of things with the most logical view possible.
My used-to-be friend who never read the books read my Fan-fiction about my oc’s and told me “What’s a kit?” And when I said it’s another word for a baby cat, she said “Why not just call it a kitten?”
@Sparky Wølf, I don’t like indentifying this friend as toxic, because she just said we grew apart. But, occasionally I just think about some of the rude stuff she’s done. OH ALSO, she’s what told me about stuff and how I lost my innocence.
Ok so I have a warrior cats OC named Weasel'gaze and yesterday me and my friends were playing the Warriors Adventure Game cuz my friends were all into warrior cats and we had nothing better to do so yeah but anyways I was in the middle of introducing Weasel'gaze and one of my friends said "Ummm the clans don't know what weasels are.." I then said "Yes the clans DO know what weasels are" and I had to explain to her where weasels live in the wild and because weasels that live in the wild mostly live in burrows and holes and since Windclan has plenty of burrows the clans DO know what weasels are.
i was in a warrior cats rp game and there was an admin and he said he'd kick this girl for having the name Ocean'Breeze because ocean wasnt on the name chart how rude >:C
@@amycampbell5439 not to be that 1 annoying person everyone hates , but unless youre tryna go creative or your oc was a former kittypet who picked it up by their owners, Clan cats dont have 'autumn' or 'fall' they call it 'leaf-fall' Leafpelt or Leaffallpelt are valid names though.

Hawkfrost, now that I think about it, has a purpose. He is perceptive and calculating, like a hawk, and he is "cold" to others, (his sister an exception) and that's where he gets the frost part of his name. Edit: 4:15
I always personally ignored these "rules" and sometimes use words that aren't officially used in the universe of warrior cats, is that okay? (I also personally liked the name willowmoon)
Willowmoon is a fantastic name! Having unique names puts deeper meaning to a cat's name. EX: Smallear only describes his appearance, while Lionblaze tells how fierce and brave he is. I mean, just imagine a fire-y lion!
You can have what ever you want really. Your name fits with what i think a ‘valid’ name should be. Though it doesnt make much sense to me, it’s still nice!
I just imagine a night-time scene under the shade of a willow tree, and in the gaps of the leaves, you can see the full moon... ooooooor it's just a pretty name XD
I have An Oc Called WillowWatcher, Because of the fact she has great eye sight and could see any difference! (and in my Ocs story this comes to a big help) and she was named after it soon becoming WillowStar.
I got bullied on a warriors cats role play game for not conforming to arbitrary rules if you’re seeing this vizavi frick you and your toxic community and admins
in an rp group that leaned into the more mystical aspects, I had an albino cat, moonpaw (later, moonsong). She became a vassel for the goddess of the moon who she met in dreams and eventually took on the mantle herself. She literally became the moon, which I had no knowledge of or plans for when making her, and I've never been happier with an oc tbh. Moon cats are valid and if the mods had prevented my use of the prefix it's possible that connection might not have happened to her specifically
Ugh thank you so much for making this. I was basically bullied onto changing my characters name. I named him Blackmask and I thought it had a really cool ring to it and that it was somewhat unique in a world were there are so many warrior cat ocs it's basically impossible to come up with a one of a kind name. I got flooded with comments like "You can't call him that, cats don't know what masks are!!!". I ended up changing his name out of frustration with the comments and now I think I'm finally gonna change it back. Thank you moonkitti.
I feel like the only one who likes ‘traditional naming’ but doesn’t use it to pressure other people into changing their OC name. I just really like the thought that both parts of the name actually tie into something in clan-culture, and I find the method helps create nicer sounding names. Like my OC Leopardflame, a savannah kittypet turned warrior. She got leopard- from her spots and -flame because of her undying loyalty and passion in helping the clan who saved her. Though I prefer this method, I find people who get riled up about these things dumber than the names they criticize. A while back I was planning on writing a guide on ‘traditional naming’ that’d try to find workarounds for some of the common naming ‘sins.’ I’m of the mindset that anything works in fiction if you have a logical reasoning for it, and that includes silly warrior names. Though, I’m a much more laid back RPer (can’t stand the ones with point systems and require constant participation or your kicked out) to the point where I don’t.
I'm exactly the same way. Even with background characters, I try to make their names make sense in some way or another, whether that be based on appearance, accomplishments or personality. Scorchblaze was named after his frenzied, quick fighting style and fiery attitude, Squirrelskip was named after his elegant yet bouncy and energetic nature and Jasminestep's suffix comes from her light, dainty appearance. (And yes, jasmines have been mentioned in the books so to me they're fair game.) Cindermint was named after her gray pelt and green eyes, Poppyspots for her black pelt spots (go figure) and Dandelionfoot for her white pelt and yellow feet.
I believe traditional naming should mean any prefix or suffix used in ALL the books in the series. I also have an oc called Saltpoppy because the books mention Salt in the second arc.
@@sinwolfe4868 That's exactly how I see it! Just because a word hasn't necessarily been used as a name before doesn't mean it can't be. The Erins are always adding new prefixes; just look at Ivypool's kits!
I have two OC's named Songheart and Flutterheart because they're names match their personality. like Songheart is a permanent Queen who likes to hum or sing kits to sleep. When she was a kit she liked to hum to others because they enjoyed it and it brought her happiness. Flutterhearts name is after how he's excited about everything and likes to leap into the air and 'Flutter" about. Names don't have to be legit. Just have fun naming your OCs its honestly not a big deal. Edit: I realize this was 2 years ago, don't judge me.
WAIT WHAT? People are attacking BounceFire?!? That is one of the the coolest names out of all the warrior cats (In my opinion). I always wished that I would have made an OC named BounceFire before the character was introduced. Idk, it just has a lot of personality. :p
God this is such a good video. I was always so worried about sharing my warriors ocs when I was younger because I would give them “silly” or “inappropriate” names like Brokenheart, Milkheart, or Moonstar. But like... let kids have fun with what they want to name their characters. They’re having fun, and if they want to change those names when they’re older then they will. I am all for fun and interesting cat names and y’all should be, too!! 🙌
I roleplayed with someone whose cat was called Milkyfrost. Milky because of her pelt, frost because of her cold nature. I didn't like the name not because it sounded dumb but it made me think of a milk popsicle which to me is kind of gross. The character itself was really good though. To me Brokenheart is a little generic, but that's just my opinion (not anything wrong with the name itself but most people just give it to any cat without much story behind it. Not that there needs to be a story or explanation for every single name, but it'd be nice to know what made the leader choose "Heart" as the suffix.)
I just role-played as a character named Brokenheart lmao. She chose the name herself due to all horrible events in her life. Why did she decide to make it all worse? I dunno, she's probably just stupid.
"NO SUNKITS!!1!!" Sunstar (bluestar super edition) and sunstrike (windclan I don't have anything past omen of the stars so she might be dead) Edit: oh and sunbeam, and yes sunstrike is dead she died in the great battle and fought with tdf
I remember once entering an RP with an oc i had named "twinklepaw" (the fanclan i was joining took place underground and there was a theme of moonlight and stones so twinklepaw seemed totally reasonable!) but i was shut down because it wasn't "a real name" lol ??
I admin a Warriors RP server on Discord, and we used to have no less than 10 rules on what your characters could be named, primarily focusing on "traditional naming". Then, after a lengthy debate, we lifted those rules, and everyone was a lot happier. Like, a character with the prefix "Moon" or "Shadow" isn't going to hurt anyone. I'm glad we came to our senses.
I personally didn’t care for ‘traditional names.’ I named the cats whatever sounded cool or fit them. Heck, five of my cats were named Featherpool, Finwatcher, Cinderflame, Ravenclaw and Maplefrost. Which I’m going to assume many ‘traditional’ roleplayers wouldn’t agree with. Edit: awww thanks guys!

I suddenly really want to read Neverfear's story omg

It's *SO ANNOYING*
The closest canon name would be Sunnysky, from Sunnykit and Brightsky.
What about Sunnypaw in SkyClan
Some cats know what an opal is... right?
but this is coming from someone with like 10 prophet ocs and one named "starspeck", my word might not be very important...
but when skyclan was battling the rats, the kitty pets told them what a chair and a couch was, so chaircouch is a valid name?
I agree %100
Blue Skylark IKR if cats know what apples and pears are then we can have cats with the prefix lemon or even peach
I also don't think that they should be named after human seasons since they have different names for the seasons so not like, Winterwind
Me: I have an OC named Hyenaspots
Fans: but cats don’t know what Hyenas are!
Me: Tigerstar, Lionheart, Leopardstar, tigerheart/star.

I mean, if you want to be technical, they were named with the ancient big-cat clans in mind: LionClan, LeopardClan, TigerClan. It doesn't make too much sense if you think about it, but what does, in this series? Let people do what they want.
They're named after big cats in the Panthera genus, so my question is why don't we have JaguarClan??

Nothing to do with his white underbelly at all
I think frost is because of his icy blue eyes and cuz of his cold heart? Maybe foreshadowing?
@Average Person Who used to be a random person. Yeah that too I thought it made perfect sense he had hawk colored fur, and the frost could either be brilliant foreshadowing or his eye color
@@honeybeehomicide6760 hahaha oh yah that too lol
I always assumed the "Frost" was for his eyes. He is described with ice-blue eyes anyway!
I like to think the frost thing represents his cold blue eyes
Or his frosty nature
Or both. Hawkfrost is such a cool name.
I figured it had a double meaning, both for his uce colored eyes and his cold personality
Its doesnt
Id like to believe it does but it doesnt or else we probably wouldn't be having a crowfrost
Or anything else dor that matter because since hawk and moth hawkfrost mothwing they had never used it before
Edit:at least as a suffix
I think it refers to his child personality

7:02 this reminded me that years back, I went on a warrior cats role playing forum and there was this character that everyone was making fun of. I think their name was “Littlestool” or something like that. Anyways, they got so done with everything that anytime they possibly could, they would write *craps on **______* and everyone hated them. They never banned them though, so it was just chaos. I stopped going to role play forums after that, but I thought this was a neat story to share.
I have no idea Moonkitti saying those words brought up that specific memory, but yeah.

He also appears a lot in Bluestar’s prophecy and perhaps Goosefeather’s curse, never read Goosefeather’s curse yet

I love these names that dip into the territory of “it doesn’t have to make sense to be cute or work”
I literally have a background oc named Mistmelt and an elder named Seaweedwhisker
Saturn Bubblez bless seaweedwhisker. bless mistmelt.
SOFIA LEE (Student) yea!!! I have this headcannon that he has these long, thick whiskers that drop down and since they live by the sundown place his mother basically just said “ha look! It looks like seaweed!”
Seaweedwisker sounds so darn CUTE!!
Put them near an ocean and they perfect sense
Not enough mistmelt appreciation in the reply section, that's adorable
The only rule I follow with names is that the cats have to know what the thing is.
Like with an OC of mine. angelkit, he was a still born albino kit. At the time a loner named frost was living with the clan and made the comment that he was an angel now. When redlight, the mother of angelkit, asked what an angel was, frost told her it’s the twoleg equivalent of those in starclan. There, now the mother giving the name knows what it is. So she can name her kits “angel” which she did for angelkit.
Midna Magic nice! Good backstory, too
Midna Magic I have a cat named Cobaltchaser, but my Clans do know what some gemstones are called, because they’re some of the original Clans and some outsiders.
Midna Magic I also have a cat named Caramelrose, but she was a former kittypet.
MapleshadeDarkRay_YT nice name ^^
Omg i also had an oc named angelkit! But then i changed her name to doveflight and reserved "angel" for a former kittypet"
I like giving cats names from parts of other words.
Such as Buttermelt
As a kit, they were called Butterkit, named after butterflies and buttercups.
I also like taking a word, such as Hawthorn, and making it a name.
Hawkit was a prickly kit who grew up to be Hawthorn.
It's very fun >:3
Also once on a roleplaying game, I had to change my OC's name from Scarclaw to Scarredclaw because Scar _wasn't on the list of usable prefixes_ 🙄
Lol in the unacceptable prefixes was:
Green
Hammer
Moon
JAY
Song
Jay is unacceptable??? Jayfeather!! You're not accepted!! Scoot, out of Thunderclan now! (I love Jayfeather he's great)
Jayfeather is hot
Yea. Did you know that the authors were gonna name Tigerclaw-star Hammerclaw!
And Jayclaw, warrior of RiverClan
the thing is, jay is a perfectly acceptable prefix in reference to blue jays.
So *thats* why bramblefake exiled him! His name wasn’t on the name chart!

@@ilikeurpi2785 no no it’s fine! I had a friend who was super toxic, it took her screaming at me that I’m a girl for me to realise that
@Sparky Wølf, I don’t like indentifying this friend as toxic, because she just said we grew apart.
There is LITERALLY A WEASELFUR IN THE BOOKS
I hate people that say that. They wouldn't know lions and tigers but there are cats with those animals in their names.
@@letsdostuff8967 it’s Bc the cats talk abt LionClan and TigerClan

i was in a warrior cats rp game and there was an admin and he said he'd kick this girl for having the name Ocean'Breeze because ocean wasnt on the name chart

i nearly got kicked for having the name Arch'spirit, its a valid name-
My Christmas OC is named Mistletoe
Mistle is a valid prefix
And toe is a valid suffix

@@amycampbell5439 not to be that 1 annoying person everyone hates , but unless youre tryna go creative or your oc was a former kittypet who picked it up by their owners, Clan cats dont have 'autumn' or 'fall' they call it 'leaf-fall' Leafpelt or Leaffallpelt are valid names though.

Hawkfrost, now that I think about it, has a purpose. He is perceptive and calculating, like a hawk, and he is "cold" to others, (his sister an exception) and that's where he gets the frost part of his name.

Amber Loertscher his sister is not an exception, he mentally tortured her.

Someone needs to explain to me why they named a shadow clan cat “Kinkfur” *please*
kinky fur. Search a kinked cat tail
a kink is a scrunch or crook. we can interpret that kinkfur maybe has a few kinks in their fur
she is described as having unkempt fur sticking out in all angles, Kink like its all knotted and matted and messy, probably kinky.
ikr
Oh starclan no
I always personally ignored these "rules" and sometimes use words that aren't officially used in the universe of warrior cats, is that okay?
Some people: You can’t use moon in a name!
Me: *shoves Moonflower, Ambermoon, Harveymoon, and my OC Redmoon at them* These are valid names!
Not to mention Half ‘Moon, Jayfeather’s dead girlfriend
**happily holds up my oc Bloodmoon** ✨VALID✨
(no she wasn't named bloodkit- her original name was eclipse(kit/paw/fall) but she changed it)
in an rp group that leaned into the more mystical aspects, I had an albino cat, moonpaw (later, moonsong).
*Me holding up my ocs Moonstar and Harveymoon* HEY, LOOK AT THESE, these are valid names!

Cats absolutely know what masks are.
Yaaas
I have an oc named golden mask
Don't let anyone tell you prefixes and suffixs

Buck as a prefix for mollies

I like Bouncefire as well. I always thought it was one of the coolest names ever.

@@angelicamelone3213 No, Lightbright can be Lightnight (Like a night light for when people sleep and stuff.)
My friend has an OC named brokenheart
I just role-played as a character named Brokenheart lmao. She chose the name herself due to all horrible events in her life. Why did she decide to make it all worse? I dunno, she's probably just stupid.
I tried to name a real kitten Milkdrop because a mama had kits in our backyard and I wanted her to have a warrior name XD
I usually roleplay as Goldenpelt....... His pelt is, you guessed it, golden.
"NO SUNKITS!!1!!"
Sunstar (bluestar super edition) and sunstrike (windclan I don't have anything past omen of the stars so she might be dead)

I'm glad we came to our senses.
what’s the server link lol
What’s the server code, I really wanna join
I love the "twigbranch" style of names. I have an oc with an overgrown tooth, his name is Fangtooth
another name like twigbranch i just thought up:
Featherwing :)
