If I'm correct Nightheart and Sunbeam are Thunderclan cats (again for Nightheart) and it would be healthy for the books to have a good family ties resolution with Nightheart and his family. Firestar/Onestar gets an additional boost when you remember how Onestar treated his canon love interest. Being infatuated with a kittypet only to turn on his heels and reject them later because he's scared of judgement would be very in-character for him. Oh, the tragedy...
Alderheart x Puddleshine gets a lot of its fuel from when they have to stay in ShadowClan together. Alderheart putting his life on the line (sort of, I don't really think Tigerheart's threats held much water) and living in an enemy camp to look after his friend is the sort of kickoff point a lot of ships would use. I feel like Alderheart brings a lot of Platonic romance on board in his hypotheticals though and I'm okay with that.
"They'll just really unceremoniously kill off the female character who's in the way of their ship." OR what they'll do is character assassinate that female character in order to set up character A with character B. Which I kind of like MORE for some reason? It's just absurdly entertaining but it is also concerning when writers do this option because it can completely turn a fandom AGAINST a character, or it can cause a fandom to COMPLETELY misinterpret a character which happens a LOT.
The second option can become annoying when these two characters are totally in love then suddenly she’s like “I dOnT kNoW iF i LiKe YoU aNyMoRe” out of nowhere (that or they just start arguing for no reason) it can be pretty annoying although sometimes it can be funny how obvious it is that the authors just don’t want to kill the character (bc we can’t have their love interest go through character development noo) so they just… destroy their character I feel like when I become an author I’d have so much fun with that 😂
I don’t get why they can’t just slightly change the relationship and make the canon love interest just a friend lol. The options are death or becoming a terrible person. And it’s not even just canon ships, I’ve seen people do that with members of other popular ships that compete with theirs. Like back when I was into attack on titan I read some Eren x Armin fic on wattpad and they made Levi Armin’s transphobic bully in high school (it was an au where Armin was trans.) And like?? Not only would Levi never do that but also he is like 30 so it’s funny that they put him in high school
I absolutely hate character assassination, and NOTHING in a story pisses me off more than that. Especially when it happens to a character I personally like. If you have to kill the character off or ruin them to make your ship work, then it isn't going to.

I do really like Rosetail and Snowfur, but personally I’ve always shipped Bluefur and Rosetail. Maybe it’s just because I’m a lesbian, but I read Rosetail as someone secretly, hopelessly in love with Bluefur. I think she’s constantly talking about crushes with Bluefur because she has a crush on her, and she tries to subtly get a feel for Bluefur’s feelings. I think she pushes Bluefur towards Thrushpelt because she’s being self destructive and she believes that Bluefur will never return her feelings. She watches his crush on Bluefur so carefully because she views him as competition, but in her mind he’s already won because she doubts herself so much. When Rosetail finds out that Bluefur is pregnant, her bizarre reaction is something I’ve always seen as the response of a cat who’s just had their heart broken. It’s weird that she just assumes that Thrushpelt is the father, but I think it’s because she was already so intimidated by him and convinced that he was going to win over Bluefur. It’s also very weird that she immediately goes to ‘congratulate’ Thrushpelt without getting permission or even confirmation that her hunch is true. However, I think that it’s her way of saying “you won, I hope you’re happy with her because she loves you and not me.” You could really view Bluerose as either being genuinely unrequited love or just love that Rosetail thinks is unrequited. Personally I do love the angst potential, but I also like to imagine an AU where Rosetail confesses and the two end up together, with Rosetail adopting Bluefur’s kits and helping to raise them.

Like consider: the cat who can see ghosts versus the cat who is a ghost for half of his arc. Root feeling insecure about himself but grows in confidence thanks to Shadow boosting him up, which leads to Root becoming more tied to the plot as not only can he see Bramblestar, but Shadow is tied to Bramblestar's fate. Have the two work to solve the mystery together, there's some angst with Shadow being a ghost hakf the time and risking his life, all the while Bristle becomes ace or a lesbian and does all the heavy lifting for the two boys and lives happily as Thunderclan's newest deputy under Squilf. Good day /for fun
After Bramblestar’s storm I really thought Cherryfall x Stormcloud would happen due to how close the two get plus Bramblestar hints at the two possibly becoming mates and then it never happened

I'm probably one of the few who ship Mapleshade/Myler and if it wasn't for Mapleshade rejecting his friendship due to him being a kittypet, it would have been a much healthier relationship than any Appledusk ship

A rare-pair(not sure how rare it is) i have is purdy x midnight, but not as a romantic ship, i think that they got together because they liked hanging out with eachother and just being with eachother made them both happy, a silly old couple that could talk to eachother for hours but only eachother because only they can stand listening to one another. the platonic old couple that definitely drive kits to boredom with how much they talk(old couples are the best kinda ships, and if its a platonic ship it makes it infinitely better)
Personally, I really like the idea of Needletail x Alderheart. The way that the books described their relationship through Alder’s eyes just make it sound like he had a huge crush on Needle without even realizing his feelings, and their dynamic is cute. Needle is bold, outgoing, independent, and umafraid to speak up, meanwhile Alder is very anxious , soft-spoken and quieter. Idk, that’s just my opinion 🤷♀️
My favorite ship is GrayRiver - River Ripple (Riverstar) and Gray Wing. Do these cats only appear in the less-than-well-written prequel series? Yes. Do I still love them and the ship to death anyway? Also yes.

Both being mentally unstable, I feel like Yellowfang would help Bluestar off-camera and if i'm remembering right on-camera but I haven't read those books in awhile. I still love the concept since Yellowfang is my second favorite cat other than Jayfeather.

About sand x fire x grey, I feel like it wouldn't work because sandstorm is the cat who needs constant reassuring and affection to fight back her fear of love fading. It's hard to explain but I feel like Graystripe couldn't be able to do that(not like Firestar actually does but at least sandstorm does sort of trust him as a friend too) and dating 2 catss in general will be stressful for her assuming she starts fretting about whether they both will leave her out or something

The exact meaning of "ship" depends on which circles of fandom you're in, but for a lot of people shipping is purely referring to the couple, not implying the canonicity. Canon ships are ships just the same.

I think Bumble and Turtle Tail would work better if they properly supported each other in canon. When Bumble sought a place to stay after running from Tom, Turtle Tail jumped right on the bandwagon of “nope, you can’t stay here, you’re annoying and worthless to us, have you considered just going back to Tom?” It’s one of those ships that falls apart the second you reread the books.

As a SquirrelCrow enjoyer, I feel it relies heavily on completely changing how you view Crow. Because canon looooves to make him possessive and gross to mollies. But leaning into his fierce loyalty to Windclan and general snarkiness/coldness as an apprentice makes for such interesting dynamics imo. I really fell for the ship while reading a TNP rewrite! Also love the "perfect no critiques" for Mothpool... very real. A big reason why I don't like romantic JayBriar is like, yes he was her primary caretaker... he also helped her mom with her birth 😭
i have a personal head canon that Crowfeather loved Feathertail as a friend, but romantically loved Squirrelflight and settled for Leafpool since they’re alike.
I honestly really like LeafPool x Mothwing for to different reasons 1. I *TRULY* think that Crowfeather was most likely just as obsessive and toxic to Little Leafpool as BrambleStar is to SquirrelFlight. I just think he was to pushy to her (ex: one scene of the books is where Leafpool is just trying to get back to her camp, and all of a sudden, Crowfeather starts yelling at her for “not being at the meeting place” WHEN HE CLEARLY KNEW IT SHE WAS HAVING HER MEETING AT THE MOONPOOL!) 2. I feel like Leafpool is such a good support system for Mothwing after what Hawkfrost did, also Leafpool can act like a safe guard for Mothwing unknowingly just because she can listen wholeheartedly to her and her troubles. PLUS she didn’t tell *anyone* that Mothwing didn’t have medicine cat dreams Case closed >:) (Also please note that I’m not hating on CrowPool shippers, I’m just stating my opinion about MothPool :)

Alderheart x Puddleshine gets a lot of its fuel from when they have to stay in ShadowClan together. Alderheart putting his life on the line (sort of, I don't really think Tigerheart's threats held much water) and living in an enemy camp to look after his friend is the sort of kickoff point a lot of ships would use. I feel like Alderheart brings a lot of Platonic romance on board in his hypotheticals though and I'm okay with that.

OR what they'll do is character assassinate that female character in order to set up character A with character B. Which I kind of like MORE for some reason? It's just absurdly entertaining but it is also concerning when writers do this option because it can completely turn a fandom AGAINST a character, or it can cause a fandom to COMPLETELY misinterpret a character which happens a LOT.
The second option can become annoying when these two characters are totally in love then suddenly she’s like “I dOnT kNoW iF i LiKe YoU aNyMoRe” out of nowhere (that or they just start arguing for no reason) it can be pretty annoying although sometimes it can be funny how obvious it is that the authors just don’t want to kill the character (bc we can’t have their love interest go through character development noo) so they just… destroy their character I feel like when I become an author I’d have so much fun with that 😂
They also end up making the girl abusive in some way to push the boys together ugh
I don’t get why they can’t just slightly change the relationship and make the canon love interest just a friend lol. The options are death or becoming a terrible person. And it’s not even just canon ships, I’ve seen people do that with members of other popular ships that compete with theirs. Like back when I was into attack on titan I read some Eren x Armin fic on wattpad and they made Levi Armin’s transphobic bully in high school (it was an au where Armin was trans.) And like?? Not only would Levi never do that but also he is like 30 so it’s funny that they put him in high school

I do really like Rosetail and Snowfur, but personally I’ve always shipped Bluefur and Rosetail. Maybe it’s just because I’m a lesbian, but I read Rosetail as someone secretly, hopelessly in love with Bluefur. I think she’s constantly talking about crushes with Bluefur because she has a crush on her, and she tries to subtly get a feel for Bluefur’s feelings. I think she pushes Bluefur towards Thrushpelt because she’s being self destructive and she believes that Bluefur will never return her feelings. She watches his crush on Bluefur so carefully because she views him as competition, but in her mind he’s already won because she doubts herself so much.
When Rosetail finds out that Bluefur is pregnant, her bizarre reaction is something I’ve always seen as the response of a cat who’s just had their heart broken. It’s weird that she just assumes that Thrushpelt is the father, but I think it’s because she was already so intimidated by him and convinced that he was going to win over Bluefur. It’s also very weird that she immediately goes to ‘congratulate’ Thrushpelt without getting permission or even confirmation that her hunch is true. However, I think that it’s her way of saying “you won, I hope you’re happy with her because she loves you and not me.”
You could really view Bluerose as either being genuinely unrequited love or just love that Rosetail thinks is unrequited. Personally I do love the angst potential, but I also like to imagine an AU where Rosetail confesses and the two end up together, with Rosetail adopting Bluefur’s kits and helping to raise them.

Have the two work to solve the mystery together, there's some angst with Shadow being a ghost hakf the time and risking his life, all the while Bristle becomes ace or a lesbian and does all the heavy lifting for the two boys and lives happily as Thunderclan's newest deputy under Squilf. … I don't recall Mapleshade being particularly clingy or obsessive towards Appledusk in her novella? I mean she had the "if I can't have him you can't either" but it reads more like "I suffered alot of shit so you are going to suffer too". I don't think we get a whole lot of insight on what Apple and Mapple were like as a couple because it's largely unimportant to the tragedic nature of the story.
A rare-pair(not sure how rare it is) i have is purdy x midnight, but not as a romantic ship, i think that they got together because they liked hanging out with eachother and just being with eachother made them both happy, a silly old couple that could talk to eachother for hours but only eachother because only they can stand listening to one another. the platonic old couple that definitely drive kits to boredom with how much they talk(old couples are the best kinda ships, and if its a platonic ship it makes it infinitely better)
Personally, I really like the idea of Needletail x Alderheart. The way that the books described their relationship through Alder’s eyes just make it sound like he had a huge crush on Needle without even realizing his feelings, and their dynamic is cute. Needle is bold, outgoing, independent, and umafraid to speak up, meanwhile Alder is very anxious , soft-spoken and quieter. Idk, that’s just my opinion 🤷♀️

Both being mentally unstable, I feel like Yellowfang would help Bluestar off-camera and if i'm remembering right on-camera but I haven't read those books in awhile. It's hard to explain but I feel like Graystripe couldn't be able to do that(not like Firestar actually does but at least sandstorm does sort of trust him as a friend too) and dating 2 catss in general will be stressful for her assuming she starts fretting about whether they both will leave her out or something

The exact meaning of "ship" depends on which circles of fandom you're in, but for a lot of people shipping is purely referring to the couple, not implying the canonicity. Canon ships are ships just the same.

I think Bumble and Turtle Tail would work better if they properly supported each other in canon. When Bumble sought a place to stay after running from Tom, Turtle Tail jumped right on the bandwagon of “nope, you can’t stay here, you’re annoying and worthless to us, have you considered just going back to Tom?” It’s one of those ships that falls apart the second you reread the books.
That pissed me off so much- then Bumble freaking dies next.

As a SquirrelCrow enjoyer, I feel it relies heavily on completely changing how you view Crow. Because canon looooves to make him possessive and gross to mollies. But leaning into his fierce loyalty to Windclan and general snarkiness/coldness as an apprentice makes for such interesting dynamics imo. I really fell for the ship while reading a TNP rewrite! Also love the "perfect no critiques" for Mothpool... very real. A big reason why I don't like romantic JayBriar is like, yes he was her primary caretaker... he also helped her mom with her birth 😭
i have a personal head canon that Crowfeather loved Feathertail as a friend, but romantically loved Squirrelflight and settled for Leafpool since they’re alike.

I honestly really like LeafPool x Mothwing for to different reasons
1. I *TRULY* think that Crowfeather was most likely just as obsessive and toxic to Little Leafpool as BrambleStar is to SquirrelFlight. I just think he was to pushy to her (ex: one scene of the books is where Leafpool is just trying to get back to her camp, and all of a sudden, Crowfeather starts yelling at her for “not being at the meeting place” WHEN HE CLEARLY KNEW IT SHE WAS HAVING HER MEETING AT THE MOONPOOL!)
2. I feel like Leafpool is such a good support system for Mothwing after what Hawkfrost did, also Leafpool can act like a safe guard for Mothwing unknowingly just because she can listen wholeheartedly to her and her troubles. PLUS she didn’t tell *anyone* that Mothwing didn’t have medicine cat dreams

I see SandxFirexGray with Fire as the poly person. Cause well, as you said, if someone had told him "Well, Sandstorm loves you, and Graystripe does as well" he'd just be like "Ok.." and set up a relationship with both. Gray and Sand would both equally love him but see each other only as friends and also sometimes be very annoying
