Agreed, especially with *fair.* All the rules in the gorge benefitted both Skyclan and cats that visited, Skyclan had valid reasons to turn down helping cats, AND as of yet they've never started a fight they weren't antagonized into. Definitely a far cry from the other clans.

Yes we aren't shown that, but that's the problem. The fact that the authors don't show anything is a problem. It's the same as with Mary Sues. Author shows you no reason for which this character should be lovable, yet they state they are loveable. You don't have to make whole book arc about it, but having main characters listen to conversations around the camp or on gatherings, in which it is shown to us that others are rule breakers etc. Small things can go a long way! Show don't tell is the rule and authors don't follow it.
:( RiverClan could be so interesting and threatening because they’re so well-fed and protected. They should be the biggest Clan, logically. Not to mention they could start throwing their weight around considering how many advantages they have over the other Clans. Imagine WindClan and ThunderClan having to grudgingly unite against them.
I know I'm very late to the party but I really like the thought of riverclan cats being great antagonists. They can swim out of the lake making it so no one can smell them approach and no one can follow them back to their clan, they're always healthier so they'd have that natural advantage, and the body mass would be good in a close quarters battle. Not to mention the thought of riverclan cats dragging other cats into the water to drown them is terrifying

I had one friend whose reasoning for having Riverclan as a favorite was this: "Well, yeah, nothing happens there. That's kind of the point. I want to live in a clan where I'm fat and happy and I'm not getting killed. I may not be interesting, but I'd be comfortable." Like, their reasoning was that they wanted a life untainted by plot, however boring it might be, and I can kinda get that.

Genuinely !!! I like RiverClan in concept and it makes me sad that they’re so underutilized-their culture is cool (they swim, weave shiny things into the roofs of their dens, have different construction methods than the other Clans to withstand floods, etc.) but they’re so !! Not used!!!

I’d like SkyClan to have some other ability, like great rock climbing or something like that (even stronger paws, etc). I know they’ve got some of that but I’d like it a bit more exaggerated, since most cats can climb trees.
I think in code of the clans it talked about how Riverclan cats were sometimes picked up by twolegs and taken back home and how some of them never returned. I always wanted to know more about that! And also drypaws!!

I wished that the third protagonist for the broken code was a RiverClan apprentice instead of Bristlefrost. ThunderClan has had a cat POV in every series and I would like one arc without a thunderclan POV.
DancingPath I remember back when I was reading arcs 2 and 3, RiverClan was my favorite clan, maybe bc I liked Crookedstars promise, Stonefur and Silverstream, but the lack of RiverClan made me not like it anymore bc you can’t have an opinion on anything that doesn’t feel like it exists.

Real cats are NOT nocturnal. They are crepuscular: most active at dawn and dusk, which usually matches their routine in Warriors, though they should probably take more naps during the day.

I always thought it was so funny when Graystripe came back how Leopardstar welcomed him back warmly when she literally put out a kill order on him when he rejoined ThunderClan during the latter half of the Prophecies Begin
River clan had so much potential. They are the only clan with cats that can swim (at least taught how to), they have a protective river around them to make them more mysterious, and they are actually pretty smart! Their dens are built for floating in case of a flood, and in feathertail's manga, it's shown the beautiful culture they have! The Erins really missed an opportunity with them.
The clans are never consistent, and even as a kid I really didn’t understand what clans were the “good guys” and which were the “bad guys.” In conclusion, they’re all bad except for thunderclan, the Mary Sue of clans.
I just figured that Shadowclan is true evil, Riverclan is Chaotic Neutral, Windclan is Lawful Neutral, and Thunderclan is stupid. Now, as of the last book I read (AVOS 3) Thunderclan is True Neutral, Windclan is Chaotic Good, Riverclan is Chaotic Neutral, and Shadowclan are probably cowards???
They do have pretty consistent traits though. Thunderclan are the special cats, Riverclan is kind of chill if you dont tick them off,Windclan is overall pretty moody and Shadowclan is filled with Cats that are too prideful for their own good. And while Thunderclan may not be bad when it comes to their overall actions inside the book, they have crap characters :)
The reason RiverClan is my favorite clan was because of how it was portrayed in Crookedstar's Promise. In that book RiverClan had a very strong sense of community amongst clanmates and their lifestyle was described so well that it was easy to imagine yourself being a part of it. Basically RiverClan was written really well in one Super Edition so now even though it's 6 arcs later and they've done nothing since, I still can't help but love it

Honestly this made me stan Riverclan more. The concept of water cats is great and they have fat asses and silky furs AND they hate interacting with any other clan. They're awesome.
I find riverclan interesting despite their lack of development as a clan, especially with their Medicine cats and half clan relationships. Thunderclans medicine cats are a complete mess tbh, like they all had something going on that pushed them into being a medicine cat while being reluctant, with Featherwhisker being the exception. Mudfur became a medicine after having a mate and kits. He had the life of a warrior but chose to become a medicine cat. Mothwing had also became a warrior before becoming medicine cat, only to lose faith in the ones she was supposed to believe in the most, Star clan. Brambleberry became the mother figure Crookedstar needed and is probably one of the best medicine cat characters in my opinion. Riverclan also seems to be the the most involved with half clan relationships next to Thunderclan. You have Mapleshade x Appledusk, Fallowtail x Reedfeather, Bluestar x Oakheart, Silverstream x Graystripe and Gorsetail x Beechfur. Most of the time half Riverclan kits tend to become riverclan warriors. So riverclan is that half clan and interesting medicine cats clan where a medicine cat had kits without breaking the code. They still need more perspective in the series tho.
WindClan was actually pretty powerful. Under the rule of Tallstar (AKA best WindClan leader), the clan seemed peaceful and only fought when they needed to be. Albeit under the rule of Onestar, everything went more rough. He clan was being taken advantage of and Onestar began to change that by upping his clan’s hostility. They fought fiercely in the tunnels but of course, big, tough, lion, man had to scare them away because, ya know, plot points. So the main thing I’m saying is, WindClan is pretty resilient and tough.
Wow, no mention of my boys 'Bloodclan'. One of them just one shots the basically immortal main villan of the whole arc. I especially love how they only show up for like the last two chapters and the tact on prologue. It really makes you not want to stop reading the series there and find a video 10 years later talking about there being like 6+ arcs that I haven't heard of.
I like RiverClan BECAUSE it's forgotton. Like at any point in the books, if it's getting boring or too dramatic and you just want to pause for a second, go to the allegiances page for RiverClan. Now pick any cat with an interesting name. Imagine a story involving them that has to do with the Clans' current scenerio. Moonpool frozen? Held hostage? It's like writing a fanfic but it could very well be canon and now this character has a story for you to be reminded of every time they're mentioned at a gathering or patrol. Also, imagine a group of RiverClan apprentices looking across the lake at anything interesting while eating minnows like popcorn.
So basically Thunderclan: thinks they know best (clan rating: 5/10 my opinion ) Shadowclan: sits in the dark corner (7/10) Riverclan: does nothing (3/10) Windclan: was weak, now buff (6/10) Skyclan: this is my house now get rekt (9/10) Bloodclan: dead lmfao (1/10) Warriorclan: we know how the books work (10/10) Starclan: NO stop doing that we didnt allow you to have babies and be inlove with that man or walk there ( -1 / 10 )
I thought Riverclan was the best because it was left out so much, honestly it seems way more mysterious than ShadowClan ever did. We know that a lot of evil(ish) cats stem from there, Hawkfrost being the main one. You could technically call MapleShade a Riverclan villain, since all of her problems literally come from riverclan being how it is. Also, what i think is one of the most thought out and realistic leaders (CrookedStar) comes from there. Crookedstar has human like emotions that make him insanely interesting. Most of the other cats manage to get over things so quickly that most of the deaths are forgotten. The death of his mate and kits plagues Crooked for the rest of his life, and the guilt of his mother's death with always be there on him. He's one of the most in depth warriors characters and I'm proud they gave him to Riverclan.
In the dawn of the clans, where Clear Sky was essentially the leader of that Thunderclan would rule in the new prophecy, they focused a lot on tree climbing

i want a book with a riverclan main character that learns their clan history and understands that riverclan doesn't like conflict but then becomes deputy and challenges the norm and strives to make friends from other clans. it could give an opportunity to expand upon their culture and maybe add new exciting elements and riverclan-only holidays and just!!! something!!! please!!!! hunters i want this so bad!!!
at this point, they just follow the stories of characters related to old characters. nobody in riverclan are like that except Mistystar who is a leader, and Mothwing, a medicine cat. also RiverClan is my favorite how dare you maybe they're my favorite because they are like me: that person who hangs out with a friend group, but provides nothing to the group or any of their conversations. also I could probably eat fish but a mouse? no

Also this made me think of the Clans as a friend group: Thunderclan- the popular kid who used to be a bullied new kid. so basically everybody hated them, now they like them, but they kind of became arrogant... Shadowclan- the jerk who probably beats everyone up and says trash talk to the other friends Windclan- the nervous, scrawny kid who is one of the kids that got beat up, but he doesn't anymore Riverclan- the extra guy who says a funny remark now and then but pretty much just eats fish Skyclan- the newest friend, unique and weird. probably easy to trick and maybe the comic relief guy Every other group like the Tribes and BloodClan: the rival friend groups IDK why I wrote this it's just what I thought.
Star clan is the leader of the friend group. Funny and charasmastic, everyone loves them. But they are actually really stupid and arrogant and think they are better than everyone. But no one cares because they have airpods and money .

What I think would be interesting for Riverclan is extra activities they do. While all the other clans are busy fighting, it would be interesting to see them acting more as a family unit than scouts, army, and leader. So, them doing activities such as a storytelling competition or being more laidback would be a nice change of pace
As a young’un, I loved ThunderClan because the POV came mostly from their clan, but rereading the series made me realize that the other clans are actually way more interesting and a refreshing way to read the story.
This is actually why Crookedstar's Promise is my FAVORITE warriors book. We got such an intimate and distinctive perspective on RiverClan culture. I personally believe it's the Clan with the most potential to have unique skillsets and attributes to display but it is CONSTANTLY overshadowed by the other Clan's plot armor. A lot of my fav RiverClan cats in the original series and CP were great - Crookedstar, Oakheart, Stormfur, Shellheart, Brambleberry, etc. but even they were only relevant because they ultimately had some connection to Crookedstar or Oakheart. RiverClan may be the least represented, but I think it's more a waste of potential than a result of the clan being uninteresting.
I want the next arc to be taken place in the other clans and not just thunderclan or have anything to really do with thunderclan. I wanna see more of the others i hate thunderclan

There are so many cats in the series now that I can't remember the deputy of some of the clans. Also the family trees are very big now. Firestar is a great grand pa now to lionblazes kits who I have no idea who they are. Also when you see how many cats are alive in the books, there are even more dead cats, and when dead cats die they go to super starclan
My goal is to compile everything I can dig up on RiverClan and make a major character for a fan story and have the Clan play a major role because like Imagine a RiverClan cat, teamed up with those from other Clans, teaching the resourceful skills RiverClan is said to have I wish they portrayed more of this fact, and more of the dynamic. The best we got was Crookedstar's story

My oc is a god with the memories of all cats every and also can 1v100 badgers and win and has the powers of all of the 3 and is thunderclan obviously and his one flaw is that he is to perfect and to many she cats are attracted to him
I just imagine the clans like the houses in Harry Potter... ~The underdog/best/noble group: Gryffindor/Thunderclan. ~The evil//rival/naughty group: Slytherin/Shadowclan. ~The last/"worst"/fan-favorite group: Hufflepuff/Windclan. ~The underrated/needed more development/bluest group: Ravenclaw/Riverclan. So my FAVORITE clan/house is Riverclan/Ravenclaw, even though they're not even close to the BEST. Although I would love if they were both improved.
In my opinion, all of the clans are pretty amazing and should get a lot more attention than they've been getting. They had some potential arc 4... but then they blew it with making Firestar the fourth cat. Also, I wanna know about everyone's quirks and personalities! Really, it would be more simple to have, as you suggested, on big clan that goes about business indifferently.
Shadowclan 🤢🤢🤢 Actually, I take back what I said about shadowclan, shadowclan and skyclan are literally the only clans that have actual unique personalities.
For me, In terms of the series, SkyClan is most interesting. But culturally? RiverClan. Up until we got Frostpaw, we never had to experience ‘ThunderClan apprentice training 2.0’ in them, so we could believe they had however much culture we wanted. Decorating their dens with shells, kits practicing swimming in streams, having fluffy, undercoated fur… They were just always appealing culturewise to me haha.
My favorite clan is shadowclan, and it always was. Despite all the things they did wrong (and they did a lot of things wrong lol) when Tigerstar 2 became leader, this clan became loyal, supportive. Supportive, because of the way the sheltered the rebels in "the broken code", and how they gave half of their territory to Skyclan. In my opinion, Thunderclan is the worst clan. They just like- they just sit around for the whole series and boss all the other clans around. No wonder shadowclan hates them.
I love RiverClan. Well, that's not true, I love the thought of it. My actual favorite clan is WindClan, but I almost always write warriors content from RiverClan's perspective. It has SO MUCH potential. Like Moon said, they're in theory well fed and pretty and have a lot of jerks coming out of it. I've always wanted the Erin's to write a main character into it with a superiority complex that gets torn down by some event-- whether that be ThunderClan becoming the bad guys for once or a natural disaster, I'd love to see how they become relevant by trying to cope with these problems. Or, on the other side of the spectrum, have a villain come from that clan again! Hawkfrost was taken down too soon, he's like the Darth Mall of warriors. Have the new generations fail at taking down this threat! See what happens when a bad guy wins and the power thrown into chaos among the clans and their ancestors. We can't keep having these problems magically fixed. The future of warrior cats can be so bright and interesting if they just let this poor clan have some time in the spotlight.

This just hurts because Riverclan has always been my favorite. I really really want a big conflict with Riverclan that makes it so we can delve deep into their clan life. I agree wholeheartedly; Riverclan could be used in such a better way. Look at all the insanely cool battle techniques they have in the info books. I would love to see a conflict where Riverclan forces one of the other clans into a battle on the shore. It would be unique to see the tragedy of cats trying to fight in the water when they aren't used to it.

I only really read up to power of three, just got back into reading them, and hearing about what they did to riverclan makes me so sad. they're my favorite and played such a large role in the forest, especially in the 1st series. It's such a cool concept and it's depressing to find out they don't really do anything with it afterwards... my favorite super edition was crookedstars promise too just cause I liked the vibes of riverclan a lot Maybe it's just cause the series was fresh then but everything felt so much more dynamic and varied back in the forest

I know I'm very late to the party but I really like the thought of riverclan cats being great antagonists. They can swim out of the lake making it so no one can smell them approach and no one can follow them back to their clan, they're always healthier so they'd have that natural advantage, and the body mass would be good in a close quarters battle. Not to mention the thought of riverclan cats dragging other cats into the water to drown them is terrifying

I’d like SkyClan to have some other ability, like great rock climbing or something like that (even stronger paws, etc). I know they’ve got some of that but I’d like it a bit more exaggerated, since most cats can climb trees.

I always thought it was so funny when Graystripe came back how Leopardstar welcomed him back warmly when she literally put out a kill order on him when he rejoined ThunderClan during the latter half of the Prophecies Begin
River clan had so much potential. They are the only clan with cats that can swim (at least taught how to), they have a protective river around them to make them more mysterious, and they are actually pretty smart! Their dens are built for floating in case of a flood, and in feathertail's manga, it's shown the beautiful culture they have! The Erins really missed an opportunity with them.
The clans are never consistent, and even as a kid I really didn’t understand what clans were the “good guys” and which were the “bad guys.” In conclusion, they’re all bad except for thunderclan, the Mary Sue of clans.

The reason RiverClan is my favorite clan was because of how it was portrayed in Crookedstar's Promise. In that book RiverClan had a very strong sense of community amongst clanmates and their lifestyle was described so well that it was easy to imagine yourself being a part of it. Basically RiverClan was written really well in one Super Edition so now even though it's 6 arcs later and they've done nothing since, I still can't help but love it
I always feel like at this point, none of them can be my favorite because it seems like living in *any* clan during the book series timeline would suck
ShadowClan: ambition/depression gets them taken over by tyrannical leaders almost every series
RiverClan: constantly starving because of water pollution/over-dependence
WindClan: get chased out of their territory like . . . at least 3 series in a row

Honestly this made me stan Riverclan more. The concept of water cats is great and they have fat asses and silky furs AND they hate interacting with any other clan. They're awesome.

I find riverclan interesting despite their lack of development as a clan, especially with their Medicine cats and half clan relationships. Thunderclans medicine cats are a complete mess tbh, like they all had something going on that pushed them into being a medicine cat while being reluctant, with Featherwhisker being the exception. Mudfur became a medicine after having a mate and kits. He had the life of a warrior but chose to become a medicine cat. Mothwing had also became a warrior before becoming medicine cat, only to lose faith in the ones she was supposed to believe in the most, Star clan. Brambleberry became the mother figure Crookedstar needed and is probably one of the best medicine cat characters in my opinion. Riverclan also seems to be the the most involved with half clan relationships next to Thunderclan. You have Mapleshade x Appledusk, Fallowtail x Reedfeather, Bluestar x Oakheart, Silverstream x Graystripe and Gorsetail x Beechfur. Most of the time half Riverclan kits tend to become riverclan warriors. So riverclan is that half clan and interesting medicine cats clan where a medicine cat had kits without breaking the code. They still need more perspective in the series tho.

WindClan was actually pretty powerful. Under the rule of Tallstar (AKA best WindClan leader), the clan seemed peaceful and only fought when they needed to be. Albeit under the rule of Onestar, everything went more rough. He clan was being taken advantage of and Onestar began to change that by upping his clan’s hostility. They fought fiercely in the tunnels but of course, big, tough, lion, man had to scare them away because, ya know, plot points. So the main thing I’m saying is, WindClan is pretty resilient and tough.
Wow, no mention of my boys 'Bloodclan'. One of them just one shots the basically immortal main villan of the whole arc. I especially love how they only show up for like the last two chapters and the tact on prologue. It really makes you not want to stop reading the series there and find a video 10 years later talking about there being like 6+ arcs that I haven't heard of.

Like at any point in the books, if it's getting boring or too dramatic and you just want to pause for a second, go to the allegiances page for RiverClan. Now pick any cat with an interesting name. Imagine a story involving them that has to do with the Clans' current scenerio. Moonpool frozen? Held hostage? It's like writing a fanfic but it could very well be canon and now this character has a story for you to be reminded of every time they're mentioned at a gathering or patrol.
Also, imagine a group of RiverClan apprentices looking across the lake at anything interesting while eating minnows like popcorn.

I thought Riverclan was the best because it was left out so much, honestly it seems way more mysterious than ShadowClan ever did. We know that a lot of evil(ish) cats stem from there, Hawkfrost being the main one. You could technically call MapleShade a Riverclan villain, since all of her problems literally come from riverclan being how it is. Also, what i think is one of the most thought out and realistic leaders (CrookedStar) comes from there. Crookedstar has human like emotions that make him insanely interesting. Most of the other cats manage to get over things so quickly that most of the deaths are forgotten. The death of his mate and kits plagues Crooked for the rest of his life, and the guilt of his mother's death with always be there on him. He's one of the most in depth warriors characters and I'm proud they gave him to Riverclan.
In the dawn of the clans, where Clear Sky was essentially the leader of that Thunderclan would rule in the new prophecy, they focused a lot on tree climbing

What I think would be interesting for Riverclan is extra activities they do. While all the other clans are busy fighting, it would be interesting to see them acting more as a family unit than scouts, army, and leader. So, them doing activities such as a storytelling competition or being more laidback would be a nice change of pace

As a young’un, I loved ThunderClan because the POV came mostly from their clan, but rereading the series made me realize that the other clans are actually way more interesting and a refreshing way to read the story.

This is actually why Crookedstar's Promise is my FAVORITE warriors book. We got such an intimate and distinctive perspective on RiverClan culture. I personally believe it's the Clan with the most potential to have unique skillsets and attributes to display but it is CONSTANTLY overshadowed by the other Clan's plot armor. A lot of my fav RiverClan cats in the original series and CP were great - Crookedstar, Oakheart, Stormfur, Shellheart, Brambleberry, etc. but even they were only relevant because they ultimately had some connection to Crookedstar or Oakheart. RiverClan may be the least represented, but I think it's more a waste of potential than a result of the clan being uninteresting.
Its not River Clans fault that the authors just went "if Sky Clan wont do it, it just wont get done"
RiverClan is my personal favorite, and I’m so glad that they will be adding them into the series coming out soon.
I want the next arc to be taken place in the other clans and not just thunderclan or have anything to really do with thunderclan.

There are so many cats in the series now that I can't remember the deputy of some of the clans. Also the family trees are very big now. Firestar is a great grand pa now to lionblazes kits who I have no idea who they are. Also when you see how many cats are alive in the books, there are even more dead cats, and when dead cats die they go to super starclan

Bruh I have a Riverclan medicine cat, but she ends up in the dark forest bc she kept her leader in a coma so that her sister(the deputy) could become leader.

In my opinion, all of the clans are pretty amazing and should get a lot more attention than they've been getting. They had some potential arc 4... but then they blew it with making Firestar the fourth cat. Also, I wanna know about everyone's quirks and personalities! Really, it would be more simple to have, as you suggested, on big clan that goes about business indifferently.
One thing I noticed with all clans I think that cats can’t see in the dark but they can in real life lol

Actually, I take back what I said about shadowclan, shadowclan and skyclan are literally the only clans that have actual unique personalities.
For me, In terms of the series, SkyClan is most interesting. But culturally? RiverClan. Up until we got Frostpaw, we never had to experience ‘ThunderClan apprentice training 2.0’ in them, so we could believe they had however much culture we wanted. Decorating their dens with shells, kits practicing swimming in streams, having fluffy, undercoated fur… They were just always appealing culturewise to me haha.
My favorite clan is shadowclan, and it always was. Despite all the things they did wrong (and they did a lot of things wrong lol) when Tigerstar 2 became leader, this clan became loyal, supportive. Supportive, because of the way the sheltered the rebels in "the broken code", and how they gave half of their territory to Skyclan. In my opinion, Thunderclan is the worst clan. They just like- they just sit around for the whole series and boss all the other clans around. No wonder shadowclan hates them.

I love RiverClan. Well, that's not true, I love the thought of it. My actual favorite clan is WindClan, but I almost always write warriors content from RiverClan's perspective. It has SO MUCH potential. Like Moon said, they're in theory well fed and pretty and have a lot of jerks coming out of it. I've always wanted the Erin's to write a main character into it with a superiority complex that gets torn down by some event-- whether that be ThunderClan becoming the bad guys for once or a natural disaster, I'd love to see how they become relevant by trying to cope with these problems. Or, on the other side of the spectrum, have a villain come from that clan again! Hawkfrost was taken down too soon, he's like the Darth Mall of warriors. Have the new generations fail at taking down this threat! See what happens when a bad guy wins and the power thrown into chaos among the clans and their ancestors. We can't keep having these problems magically fixed. The future of warrior cats can be so bright and interesting if they just let this poor clan have some time in the spotlight.

This just hurts because Riverclan has always been my favorite. I really really want a big conflict with Riverclan that makes it so we can delve deep into their clan life.
I agree wholeheartedly; Riverclan could be used in such a better way. Look at all the insanely cool battle techniques they have in the info books. I would love to see a conflict where Riverclan forces one of the other clans into a battle on the shore. It would be unique to see the tragedy of cats trying to fight in the water when they aren't used to it.

I only really read up to power of three, just got back into reading them, and hearing about what they did to riverclan makes me so sad. they're my favorite and played such a large role in the forest, especially in the 1st series. It's such a cool concept and it's depressing to find out they don't really do anything with it afterwards... my favorite super edition was crookedstars promise too just cause I liked the vibes of riverclan a lot
Maybe it's just cause the series was fresh then but everything felt so much more dynamic and varied back in the forest
