Also the horn instruments that play during fryes part and in other places have an Indian sound to it!! I believe it's influenced by all three which is INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE
i’ve said this once and i’ll say it again - SPLATOON 3 HAS SOME OF THE BEST MUSIC IN GAMING, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO CULTURE MIXING! this has japanese, arabic, brazilian and indian influences all in one. how amazing is that?!
the culture mixing is definitely one of my favorite aspects about the splatoon series too, among other things! how cultures in the real world influence the game and its characters, and the game itself harboring this vast culture between inkling/octoling/sea denizens.. and ESPECIALLY musical culture between each of the games' bands. heck, the games reusing the same 'now or never!' between all three of them albeit covered to signify the passage of time between them, has honestly opened my eyes even wider to splatoon's worldbuilding! as Scruffy voiced himself, splatoon music is perfectly described by the phrase "loud, bold, and booyah." catchy synths for modernization and uproarious cultural musical presentation.. all in one.
i agree, it's so cool how it also makes sense in the canon (more than likely them taking inspiration from the humans before them, that's literally so sweet 😭)
if you didn't know, the pink jellyfish in one of the shops was a vocalist in one of the ingame bands. Splatoon has many bangers and each theme has their own in-game band behind it, it's really cool
This song spreads such nostalgia (and for older players "end of an era") feelings and it will be for the new generation who can experience it for the first time just like Splatoon1 players did in 2014 or 2016 with calamari inkantation.
It sounds great, but I wouldn’t say it’s nostalgic, as it sounds nothing like any of the past splatfest themes at all. It’s kinda its own funky thing, and thats what makes it great! Its as unique as the stars that sing it!
I wish i knew what splatoon was before it came out like I remember being in Best Buy playing splatoon 1 on the Wii U there and I got it at some point but idk when and all I remember was it was probably winter and still I don’t get why I didn’t get the demo on my Wii U unless you couldn’t do that but idk why you couldn’t
If you think in terms of the Inklings and Octolings experiencing these in person, you'd be able to understand Shiver and Frye, yet Big Man's lyrics would likely sound foreign (if the dialogue shown is any indication). I really like that even in universe this music would sound a bit like a cultural blend of multiple styles, especially considering the idols are all different species.
this song is a cultural blend in of itself!! shiver, frye, and big man are all based on different cultures (japanese, middle eastern, and south american respectively) and they all seem to sing in their respective cultural style. not only that, but this songs instrumentation blends traditional japanese, arabic, and brazilian samba PERFECTLY into each other.
i'm pretty sure it was said off the book's lyrics were in the inkling and octarian language! So it's really a chance for all three of their cultures to shine!
I love how livelily Splatsville looks in Splatfest! It's like a Carnival or a Festival celebration. I feel a strong Asian influence in this game's appearance and Deep Cut's style

I usually skip the Square and just jump to the shops and lobby from the menu, but during this Splatfest, I spent a good 10 minutes wandering the Square just to listen to this song and watch everyone dancing to it.
I love how splatoon 3 instead of being all oh gosh wasteland mad max chaos it adds a beautiful and interesting side of cultures working together and expression being free and chaotic and fun. It's a beautiful thing to hear music that's a mix of so many different places and just so good jdhrn Also the idols and how different they are compared to off the hook and squid sisters who were more mainstream in a sense, these are clearly enjoying the way they work and also just having fun (not saying the others didn't like how they work), less of their edges sanded down for appeal. (I love off the hook and squid sisters of course but this trio happens to fall more I to the stuff I love that is unapologetic self expression
I definitely agree with you I was a little worried at first when I saw all the Boring Brown Wastelands but the absurd sense of style made me fall in love with the splatlands Like 5 pairs of glasses at once.... goggles with cheese graters on them.... toeless socks...
