- You heard that right, one fact for every single Splatoon Splatfest theme in all 3 Splatoon games (as of September 2023). As of this video there's over 100 themes to talk about and I have prepared at least one fact about each and every one of them. This video took a long time to make so I hope you enjoy!
Special shoutouts honestly to the Splatoon wiki for housing most of the facts and trivia for splatfests. Without that, I don't think this video would've been possible or nearly as interesting. [UPDATE 9/1/2023]: That fact about Vanilla VS Strawberry VS Mint Chip is actually true! (the "blocks" at the top are still there but not the names according to you guys) Thank you to everyone with the European version of SplatNet3 who checked! I also found out that the Money VS Fame VS Love Splatfest has the same issue which is very odd. I wonder if it will happen on the upcoming splatfest Shiver VS Frye VS Big Man too. Very strange.

You're literally the only person that's preserving this side of Splatoon. A lot of these tidbits would be lost media if it weren't for you. In fact, if RUclips and internet videos didn't exist, Splatfests as a whole would be lost forever. Keep this up

If youtube and internet vids didn't exist, many more things would be lost. But also, without internet archival, the concept of lost media would not exist either, since before that, you most likely knew stuff existed, you just didn't know where. Word of mouth was the biggest thing for video games and their secrets.
Though now I realize it would be kind of weird if online videos didn't exist, but you could still play online multiplayer games

Hello! I am from Europe, and I can confirm that for the Vanilla VS Strawberry VS Mint Chip Splatfest, the names of the teams are missing on SplatNet3. The colors are still there, but not the names. Very confusing
Yeah, just checked myself and can confirm it's a Europe wide problem. Also my icon is incorrectly placed on Shiver's side for team Vanilla and Money
I am also from Europe but I dont know what should be missing. At the head of the top 100the Team names are there in my app

@@romin8829 It probably only affects some devices. I just checked to see if maybe they'd fixed it, but they still don't appear on my screen. It's just blank where the name should be... It's also not a country thing because I'm also from Spain so... idk
I really like how in the bottom left corner you have a display counting what number Splatfest you are talking about, in what region, and the color coded team names. I’m only a couple minutes into the video but I really do appreciate it!

also another fact about this last splatfest: it is the first time they’ve used an official 3d render art of the characters as an splatfest official art, graphic design is really their passion

@@koiyune nope, they’re all 2d drawings, but in the who would be the best leader splatfest they just used the official deep cut 3d renders and put a filter on them so they look 2d too
it must have been a pain-staking task to cover ALL of the splatfests AND come up with unique facts for them. good job💯

I don't know if this counts as a fact for both the chocolate and ice cream splatfests, but I noticed that team dark chocolate and strawberry are the only teams that were represented by two colors instead of one. Team dark choco got purple as the ink color but some layout details were black, same with strawberry getting pink ink but with red layouts. Both probably trying to represent the real color of dark choco and the color of an actual strawberry, respectively.
Oh yeah, fun fact that was gonna be the original fact for the chocolate splatfest but decided to go with the 57p one instead but I did not notice the strawberry one though. (tbh I found out about the dark chocolate one from the wiki lol)
@@Coldeggman Yeah, the wiki helped me to confirm that the colors for dark choco were indeed different and not my eyes going crazy. I pay a lot attention for any "two colors for one team" instance since then lol

Not to forget that during Wizards vs Knights you could pick out the Amiibo gears from the Octoling Boy Amiibo and Octoling Girl amiibo due to it being classified as a special splatfest (reason why the springfest’s start up match decoration is also there, its a hint but also used because its a special splatfest)
I can confirm the fact about the icecream splatfest missing its name in europe; for the past 3 splatfests (Vanilla/Strawberry/Mint Chip, Money/Fame/Love, and Shiver/Frye/Big Man) they've just been forgetting to localise the british english/european english names for the splatfests in Splatnet 3 for some reason lol, causing them to appear completely blank in-app

Since when have they been localising to British English? You need only look at any instance of the word "color" to see that they've been neglecting us ever since the switch (ha) to the non-region-locked console.
@@TredenixFun fact: there's been only a few minor differences ingame in only british english, like some of the "report a player" text for some reason :p

heya, europe resident here. at 22:26, inkipedia is indeed correct. the name of the team is missing in the splatnet 3 app but the coloured banner is still there.
I'm glad there's a VERY small amount of people covering the Splatfests of the series. Outstanding video.
Given the fact that the devs didn't plan on the Callie vs Marie splatfest to be the last one and they where going to keep doing splatfests after, I wouldn't be surprised if early devolvement for Splatoon 4/ some sort of DLC is going to start after the leader splatfest.

Callie and Marie wasn't supposed to be the last fest at first and it was going to impact Splatoon 2.
This isn't the last fest, but it will be big so it might impact Splatoon 4.

@@Thehipsteremo they might have brought up squid vs octo as a comparison to shiver vs frye vs big man since the fests have something in common: they're divisive and likely lore-important themes that happen in the middle of the game's run of splatfests (as opposed to the end, like the final fests)

Sick! Also team Frye. As we found out recently, Big Man isn’t fit to be a leader. But he’s a mascot. Shiver’s cool, but she doesn’t seem to lead like Frye does.
It's a close pick for me but I decided on big man since most of my friends picked him but yeah Frye is also a good pick

Silly fact: I ran into a glitch on Splatnet where it shows that in the money love fame Splatfest I picked team money despite picking love in game...
Also this applies to the current Splatfest where it shows I picked team shiver on Splatnet while I picked big man in game

To this day I am still convinced that I'm partially the reason for the fact, that the Pro Clout for Team Grown Up was that high.
I won a 100x battle and only played 10 rounds, so my average was pretty high.
Then it was a only european Splatfest, which means there arent thst many players that flatten out the avereage. Then the Team wasnt populare, so less players to put the average down. And then it was in Pro and I think more players only play normal than Pro.
If I didnt win this, maybe it wouldnt have been that clear😂😂
Yeah I heard that team kid was significantly less skilled and the fact it was pro mode it didn't really surprise me that it was that high lol

Weirdly enough I don’t have that issue and mine is set to Europe as well. Though it did take a while to load in.
I didn't have that issued in my version (german) as well but when I set the language to english it the didn't show in the top 100 scoreboards and they didn't show up on the listing where all Splatfest are listed
I'm in the UK and don't have this issue, but for some reason it says I was team Vanilla even though I was literally team Mint? It won't even show what rank I got lol

10:27 From what I've found in development Splatfest data, the teams for Sweater vs Socks were swapped, it used to be Socks vs Sweaters. This can also be noticed with how Pearl's dialogue at the start mentions socks first, then sweaters.
17:09 This is extremely likely by accident, internally Knights vs Wizards is a Special Splatfest (specifically labeled KVW due to the whole gimmick with the Octoling amiibo gear), but the special splatfest type was implemented extremely late (either 4.5.0 or 4.5.1, I can't remember which). Regardless, it was less than a week before the Splatfest itself took place.
20:45 It wasn't speculation, this is exactly what happened. They added the colors for the first three splatfests into the main games files by accident in 1.2.0.
Very nice job on the video though!! I don't mean these as an insult to the video quality, especially since the first of the three things I listed was only found *after* this video came out, and overall details on these three aren't very easy to come across unless you actively have datamined the games.

And yeah for the Knights VS Wizards thing... looking at the various dev mistakes so far for splatoon 3 (just in general) I can believe it was indeed a mistake. It was just interesting that the colors still matched the logo making me think they were hinting at springfest.
Also yeah lol the last point. I think I said speculation because I wasn't 100% sure if it was true at the time. I saw a tweet from oatmealdome that said it wasn't confirmed and went with it since I just trust what he says. lmao

anyways, i didnt know about a lot of these :0 i knew about the music change in the final fest, the player names being removed from splatnet 3, the boke vs tsukkomi splatfest in the manga, team grass having their ink color changed, and bigfoot having the lowest popularity ever. thats it lol

So I checked the European Splatnet, and it's true! The Top100 lists only display a coloured banner at the top and don't feature the team names. Weirdly enough it's actually not the only one as the recent Money vs Fame vs Love has the same "issue"! All of the other banners show the team names correctly.

I remembered running into that colour combo a few times and figured it was a new one that they removed soon after, but recently couldn't find any info on the Inkipedia page for ink colours and thought I'd hallucinated it. Being in the Europe region I never knew that it was an NA Splatfest colour combo that got mistakenly activated in normal matches.
I want to thank you so much. I've been playing since the first week of the game, and I was only 7. Splatoon 1 and 2s splatfests bring me the most nostalgia out of anything as they tend to be what I remember the most. Now, I spend my entire weekend on the splatfests, so I can remember them in years when splatoon 4 or 5 comes out. Someone preserving them and showing as much dedication makes me so happy. Thank you.

Hi! European here, I checked and can comfirm that your speculation at 22:07 is correct, the team names for this Splatfest just don't show up on the top banner when viewing the Top 100. Hasn't been fixed at all...

i can somewhat confirm the splatoon 3 ice cream splatfest bug on splatnet 3! i was on team strawberry but the app has logged me as vanilla until i click on the page!

As a person from Europe, I checked my Splatnet 3 and yea the name of the team at the top is missing in the European version, That's strange
The ice cream splatfest names are STILL missing from splatnet 3, so it just says "Wins!" Rather than 'Vanilla Wins" on the screen. Since it hasn't been fixed so far, I doubt it ever will.
Big Man has had 3 sweeps so far and I’m so happy for him (even if I was only part of one and was literally going to be on the other two if I didn’t decide differently last-second)

Has shiver vs Frye vs big man came out in other regions then, or was it still known of a while back, because I don’t think it’s happened in Europe yet
No it hasn't happened yet, I just stated that it was the 100th theme and we knew about this theme for a couple weeks now it just happens this weekend for everyone
Oh, regarding the new Splatfest changes, it confirms that:
1. The Springfest (or a March Splatfestfest, if there will even be one, but it's unlikely after the Springfest announcement) will be the first splatfest where splatfest tees can be adjusted.
2. It will also be the first Splatfest with the new results system, aswell as the first one with Fizzbang.
3. The new system gives points to teams that get 1st and 2nd place in specific categories, meaning that ATLEAST 2 of the teams will get points, which also means that a #bigmansweep can no longer happen.
Frostyfest was the last instance of one.
Edit: Yes, March splatfests were announced after i wrote this comment.
They're also reigonal again. The japanese fest was apparently gonna be a sponsored splatfest about (Cheebee??) Chip flavours, but then they pulled out of the sponsorship, So nintendo changed the splatfest. It's still about chips.
The rest of us get a splatfest about musical instruments. Nintendo, please just give us a European exclusive splatfest, please...
EDIT 2: i'm gonna say this now. In Drums vs Guitar vs Keyboard, the color combo for a Drums vs Keyboard match look AWFULLY similar to the Raph vs Donnie colors... although a bit more dull.
