In my opinion he wasn’t really given time early on in his main roster run to grow as a performer. There is nothing wrong with wanting him as a face of the company or pushing him as a face but like with every other performer you have to do it naturally and find the right gimmick for them and allow them to grow and fill that roll and get comfortable with that roll and Vince never allowed Roman to do that.
