I have the E-flite A-10 Thunderbolt II Twin 64mm EDF. It's huge, probably about the same size as this A-10. It takes a 6 cell pack and has a t8n of power. It can go full vertical and climb infinitely. It also has full control surfaces, flaps, navigation lights and retractable landing gear. It's absolutely gorgeous and it's painted with its standard grey camo look. Oh, it also comes bind and fly with a Spektrum receiver with AS3X and SAFE Select.
The photos you showed with the snow camo, those are all done in the field. Free hand and usually with hard water based paints. Meant to be temporary, so a little fuzziness and imperfections is actually more realistic. Cool touch.
yeah you can really tell how much the channel has matured. or was that just David windenstal if someone can correct me on his name I feel bad. I do miss a good slap in the face
I had to convert my temp to Fahrenheit, but its 97F here today and I've never seen snow before :/ so it's kind of nice seeing all these winter videos from American creators!
My first speed build kit I bought from you guys was a white foam F-22. Never painted it (or flew it) because I decided to take it to AirVenture 2015 and had a bunch of pilots and new friends sign it. But my next kit is definitely getting painted after seeing how great your A-10 turned out! Great job!
Amazing work Alex. Your piloting skills have very much improved since you started at flite test. I like how informative and entertaining your presentation of this kit is too. Keep up the good work guys!
A tip regarding waterproofing, Artist Fixative is amazing at waterproofing planes. Built an FT Explorer in an IKEA carton since FT foam is very lucky to be found in Europe, saying nearly any FT planes can be found. Unfortunatly IKEA multi-ply carton is some 50% heavier, but with fixative, I didn't even get a miscolorization of the carton when a wing ended up in a ditch for 10 min. After drying for one day, the wing was as new.
It looks absolutely gorgeous! Six months ago I would have never expected a FT A-10 to come out at all, let alone for it to have first appeared with a mounted airsoft gun doing strafing runs on a foam tank (that itself would later fly). The development, testing, and release turnaround on this model was blazing fast. Now when will you release the flying tank model? :P
Well damn, I don’t have time to make and fly planes any more, but a few years back it was my favorite thing to do. My favorite plane has always been the A-10 and it looks like I might be getting back into the hobby because of this, just need to figure out how to make time. Thank you guys for yet another great video and hopefully I can build and modify your model of the A-10 sometime in the future.
I'm a potter and at least to me I'm think @Josh Bixler can agree when you do what you love to do anyway it's more about getting other people to love it as much as you. not really thinking about this is a business.
Yo, a P-61 build would be sick. I've never made a request before, but I've been watching y'all's videos since the white foam days. Rocket planes, Minimoas, Spitfires, Warthogs, tanks... Seeing one of my favorite planes from WWII being brought to life by your expert craftsmanship would be pretty cool.
Fun fact: The a-10 warthog actually could tear though most armoured vehicle like butter and it shoot 70 rounds per sec and it only can vary 1000 rounds cuz of how heavy it would be
It looks fantastic. It makes sense to use propellers instead of EDF, but I'd fly it without the engine nacelles(?) for less drag. I would absolutely install an FPV setup and maybe a GoPro mount as well. Having that and flying through the deep valleys here in Norway would be so awesome.

Cool tip on camo painting, if u collect some plants from around u are and include the shapes will add more character to it. And use random items like a mesh as well.
I know its been a few years sense you did this build and paint and not sure if you have learned this tip but. When you use a stencil and its not stuck down with adhesive you want to spray over the stencil edge towards the center and not towards the edge. It will give you a crisp line and less chance of under spray. Under spray is where it goes under the gap of the stencil and gives a hazy look to your lines. Second tip use a couple of light passes over the edges of the stencil and not try to cover/fill the edge of your pattern in one spray. If you want to use a stencil but want extremally crisp lines and you have a main body color. Spray a layer of clearcoat, mat, semigloss, or gloss depending on what you are looking for in shine. Then place your stencil where you want and use a pencil to lightly outline your stencil. then use automotive painters tape. It has less chance to stick to the paint. or go to your local Dollar store and get the cheapest painters tape. this will be your next best choice as the glue on it is weaker then higher priced painters tape but slightly stronger then Automotive painters tape. Also use brown packing paper to cover large areas and not a bunch of tape. It is cheaper as well as you have less of a chance of paint pulling. And last tip don't let your tape sit too long. if you have a fast drying paint take the tape off after 30 seconds of being done with that section. If you use slow drying paint wait no more then 5 minutes. You want to give the paint enough time to develop a skin but nor dry completely or you can end up pulling the paint from the edge of the tape. and don't let the tape sit on your plane for more then 10 minutes total. Oh one last tip DON'T press too hard on the tape, you want it to stick but you don't want it to be stuck.
Arctic camo is hands down the best paint job ever. My car has an arctic camo paint job, my dirt bike has an attic camp paint job. Next, My house will have a arctic camo paint job
Great job Alex. I had always heard that you couldn't paint when it' cold out. I never thought thru that if the plane is warm and the paint is warm, good to go. Thank you Alex!

That is not snow. Lol I live in Montana and last year in Havre, Montana we got around 115 inches of snow With 54 mile an hour winds. BMSF derailed a train that had a snowplow on the front ( Called a Jordan spreader )Ya, we never made the news. Today we hit over 55 mile an hour gusts, the Rocky Mountains got around 60 mile an hour gusts he wind chill was around negative 50, ya we never made the news!!! FliteTest it does help, thanks Alex.
Awesome kit and great flying
lol, theres alot more steaks on the line
I'm beginning to think the most dangerous aspect of your flying is hitting, or being hit by, the quads filming! :D
Awesome build!
@3:20 😂 You call that pummeled?
I was in Truckee California once when it snowed 6 feet in 24 hours about 72 inches! We were in 32 foot snowdrifts! You know the place where the Donner party ate each other in the 1800s!
@3:20 Pummeled 😂 😂 😂
That must have been the hundred year snow. We had four feet of snow on the roof and the six foot high fence in the backyard wasn't seen for a while.
it was a blazing 95 out the other day (trying to summon the Texan commenter here)
That's nothing in the bighorns were you can wait 10 days before roads are clear and its just 50 foot tall walls surrounding you
Zenmasterme. Duh, in the Netherlands we had a massive 2 inches of snow and it lasted almost a whole week!
Awesome Job Alex and nice flying skills too!
Make a V-1 and shoot it down with the A-10.
Drake Tamer no, with a spitfire!
@@bobeveryday15 Yep!
Drake Tamer. Yeah, and equip the V1 with explosives and switches at the wingtips.
The A10 is a 10/10 must build
Hey Alex, How About Some A-10 Snow Skis!? Thanks
definitely thought about it. Not enough time in the day:) Will try to get some ski ops in before the end of this winter:) -Alex
Those big twin birds fly great. On that note, special request, big deHavilland Mosquito. One of the highest performing of WWII, and all formed plywood.
Do an a6m zero build please !!!!!
Zero % chance of that happening. heh heh heh...
I think they want a reusable plane. Not one that substitutes landing gear for "anything in the area that looks like a good target to face plant in"
I so love what you guys are doing! Yet another great vid. I would love to see more WW2 aircraft specially a P38 lighting and maybe even an ME262. Would love to see if an RC P-38 would have the same issues the originals had in a dive. Keep on Keeping on!
If flite test replies on this video, all drinks on me
Scope Gamers I like coffee. ;)
I'll show this post at the tavern .. you will get the bill in the mail :)
Nice try.
@@joshuamelvin right on 😂
@@-.-...---7 lol thanks😂
This is favorite plane you guys offer.
I absolutely love the A-10! It's my favorite plane of all time.
I thought it was going to be a video not a sales pitch 😶
They have salaries to pay.
I know I just miss the way it used to feel.
@@shilohstore6086 I can understand that! Sadly a necessary evil as these channels continue to grow. :(
@@Geeksmithing this is true I can't imagine the immense pressure they're under to grow a complete complex, I try to be understanding but it seems like I can't help but feel like they're turning their back on their RUclips roots unfortunately.
We still give free plans and a free build video. We want everyone to enjoy the hobby with or without supporting us financially. The store and sponsorships keep food on our table along with helping us go into schools with flight based STEM (FT STEM), hold events, outreach, and maintain a huge forum and knowledge share platform.
Things have changed, but hopefully for the better while still honoring our values and vision to change lives through flight. :)

A nice build for sure, but I was waiting for the original. I just have a difficult time putting props on the leading edges of an A10. If you ever go with the original design, I'm in. Thanks for all the great videos.
Camouflage .... it'll look great from distance..... hang on a minute, shouldn't it be invisible?
This is SO COOL! Welcome to the 21st Century! You guys Deserve to succeed!
Two Thoughts.
1. Turn it into a Pusher by putting the motors inside the engine pods and put an aerodynamic cone in front like on the SR71. HEY! There's an idea for a plane!
2. That plane needs Skis!

Love your channel! You guys rock. You all seem so genuine with genuine stoke everytime you fly.
I’ve been on board for five years now...haven’t EVER got a reply from FT
Thanks for hangin with us Dylan. You rock dude:) -Alex
WOW! Thank you kindly! Keep up the great work!
My dad knows a guy that built houses on the east coast, he came out here and the house he started didn’t last one month in the wind. He said he’s never felt wind like that. If you don’t believe me, look up snow record for Montana! The wind blows so hard here that we have had semi-trucks blown off the road!!! Awesome vid!!! 👍👍👍👍
Another instant fellowship gratification vid, as usual!!! Keep Flite Testing!!!
Snow camo is best camo. She looks amazing. Nice one!
New project for you...Blade runner drone, Painted black with cool graphics, beefed up, more available tilt to the front units, all new tronics, Its Winter, so add ski's instead of wheels
I'd have a blast!!
Awesome fun watching the flight.
Wow them cameras are way better than my locked in one spot cam... Thanks for showing it
i really like the ducted fan idea better as it more closely resembles the orginal plane.
