I've been watching your RUclips for almost 14 years and only just recently bought the parts to build an RC airplane. I got into mini quads for some years, but fell out of it a few years back. I bought a $200 RTF Cub at the Hobby Shop, never successfully flew it so I bought a new transmitter and all new electronics, put it on 3S and absolutely destroyed it in the last few days. I thought the airframe was bad, but I am pretty sure I am bad lol. I will be putting an order in for an Explorer and hopefully build it very soon. Oh also to add I work in aviation now doing airframe repairs and overhauls. I worked so many odd jobs, but my underlying passion has always remained the same. I hope to work towards my A&P soon and eventually an SPL or PPL. Just wanted to say thanks for all the years of content. It's good to be back in the aviation world.
Boy how things have changed since I first started model flying in 1955. It was balsa, silk span and dope then. First It was U-control, then I moved into Old Timers then early RC. Your plane is Very cool.
Awesome video, personally I have no interest in flying something this big as the increased cost makes it too stressful. The low time/monetary cost of the original swappables is what brought me to the flite test community and back to the hobby after giving it up for years. Still awesome to see it though.
the automatic tire change mechanism works perfect Dave! Excellent job. These giant slow moving planes are the best, the look so cool in the air. Looking forward to the next iteration of it.
The hub may need to be a bit thicker with a metal insert as a bearing surface. The gear wire looks a bit thin as well. Thats a really good looking build. The rudder servo is too weak to overcome wind pressure. Monster planes need monster servos. Glue the tires on then lace them around the hub’s through the sidewalls to prevent deformation on landing. Hindsight is a learning tool. Love your company and videos. I’ve been Rc flying since 1970, AMA 13988.
The real time that happened is even better. The training flight took off and a wheel popped off. Another crew grabbed it and took off and unbeknownst to them, they also lost a wheel. The 2nd plane catches up to the first and the crew show off the wheel they are holding in an attempt to inform them of their lost wheel, but the crew of the first plane just look at them in astonishment wondering how the hell the 2nd plane took their own wheel off while in flight. Neither crew realize they are missing a wheel and both ended up wrecking their aircraft on landing.
Epic build and epic maidem flight! If I can provide some constructive criticism, I would recommend not focusing on the welder from a relatively unknown company that I'm assuming is from some off-shore location. It seemed like it didn't add much to the video or the build, and isn't somethin most RC hobbyist are going to want. But just a suggestion.
original jenny factory in buffalo is now partly a home depot, but quite a bit of it is still there. they demoed a couple more acres of it last year for a walmart...
Since you are doing historical planes, you should do the Hughes H-4 Hercules AKA "Spruce Goose"! It would be a challenge for powering it! See if you can make it fly higher and longer than the original did!? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hughes_H-4_Hercules
21:00 Been awhile since I dropped in. Dude's got the best-est jobs. Lots of room giant shop, now a paved freaking runway. However, hate to say it, but that prop looks a little small, scale wise. Is that why the, 'Will it fly?' PS looks great though. ........... Drum roll!! 😁👍👍🙏🙏
Welding on a model not my thing. Optional, wrap the joint with wire . Then apply epoxy , almost as good as welding. Also just my opinion but a fabric covering would be more scale, like coverite. Put some red and white circles on the wing ends to add some color and scale.
great video guys just wondering i was looking at a f14 kit from you guys but none of the master series jets were on the website i was wondering if you could help me find it thankyou
For the wheel could you print the rim band and hub, pause mid print and have spoke slots made into the design and drop carbon or aluminium rods into the print and carry on the print so the spoke are embedded in the print?
Flux core is for welding outside. Using gas is for inside welding, welding outside, the gas will blow away, making it useless. You can use flux core inside but it is not as good
Hey @FliteTest i really think you should make a rubber band/super capacitor powered plane that's RC and maybe put a kit on your store!!! also 111 likes in 20 mins is crazy
I didn't even get it until he said, "yeah I'm sorry but that's like a 2 out of 10." Gotta LOVE being Neurodivergent Y'all are AMAZING! God BLESS Y'all and your Families, friends, acquaintances and people you haven't met yet. :) "Good God Almighty!
@@FliteTest not to second guess the experts, but as someone who worked on a tail sitter drone design that got tested (and didn't do the best during that testing) by FliteTest many years ago, prop pitches can be confusing and feel kinda backwards. Shallow pitch helps with climbing and steep pitch increases speed and diameter gets more thrust in general until the motor runs out of power to swing the prop. As an example my parents experienced a too steep prop pitch for a given motor when my dad was taking his Piper Tri-Pacer off from a tree lined private airstrip with the prop that the previous owner had put on and it was much too steep for good climb performance and barely cleared the trees at the end of the runway. After that hair-raising takeoff, my dad replaced the out of spec (waaayyyy too much pitch) prop with a climb prop and never had another issue. It didn't help my mom's confidence in the plane however...
Why do you not Tig weld this small parts??? Its a miracle that it not got burned down with all the gardenmachines and fuel stucked tight together to the weldingarea. This was not representive to how you build up a safe welding workplace.
Get your own Firstess DP200 from YesWelder here: yeswelder-1.kckb.me/5362beb2
i was wondering did you end the master series jet line in your store?
Slow is good. Wheels look great, well done Dave. Terrific build.
well, that comment didn't age well.
They just need a little work lol@@jeffkeith637
She's beautiful guys! That treeline takeoff moment though, haha wow..
We all held our breath at that moment 😂

Love the huge Jenny! Made me nervous seeing the gas cans next to Dave welding! :)
Dave's right the best part of building a plain is seeing it fly for the first time great build F.T 😊❤
Thank you!!!
24 Minutes of Ads. 2 and a half minutes of flying. What happened?
Gota pay the help
I agree 💯
I get you got bills to pay, but damn.
Moderation is needed for product promotion.
Now that they own a golf course and warehouse they have bills to pay. I def miss the old days where this videos were instructional
True

Brilliant! And I love to watch a man who enjoys his work. Perhaps a stronger motor?
I’m amazed you guys were able to get it out the door.
9m:10s - I'm not sure I'd want to be welding that close to the gas cans, but you do you. 😲
9:10
Looked like moving blankets too! Maybe special FR material?
Potential for becoming a "screaming Alpha fire".
the automatic tire change mechanism works perfect Dave! Excellent job. These giant slow moving planes are the best, the look so cool in the air. Looking forward to the next iteration of it.
Nicely done guys! Super fine build. The craftsmanship is over the top excellent!

You guys had a "Great Waldo Pepper" moment right there.
The real time that happened is even better. The training flight took off and a wheel popped off. Another crew grabbed it and took off and unbeknownst to them, they also lost a wheel. I want to see this thing fly again! Please do another video on this when it is fully decked out.
i thought the wings were going to break on that landing😂 the sigh of relief was real. Great job you guys!
The wing supports and struts in wood would have been TOP NOTCH!
There is NOTHING Dave can’t build or Josh can’t fly! Amazing
You guys are getting closer to building something that can carry a person. Careful now!
Didn't they? 😂
Yes! Finally, you don't even know how happy a new vid makes me!❤❤❤

All's that needed was the Keystone Kops to show up with an old fire engine and paddy wagon!😆
original jenny factory in buffalo is now partly a home depot, but quite a bit of it is still there. they demoed a couple more acres of it last year for a walmart...
I just live for Josh screaming "This is Awesome!!" at 23:32.
Captain Axel Olson would be proud.
Terrific work, guys!
Once you build and fly a monster that big, you will have a new appreciation for a simple 36" wingspan model...lol
Yes!!! A 36" plane is so much easier to move around and prepare to fly
We have a 23,5 foot RC Jenny and it flys like a Dream.
I like the gas cans next to the welding ops.
Great job guys!

I'm not certain but I think they did do a "Goose" back when Peter Sripol was still a regular part of the crew.
LOL at the tires that was great !
"those are wheely cool"
"I'm on a roll"
Well spoke guys. 😊
Well SPOKE guys
Use a camel for your pilot! Just thinkn out loud, great video today!

Dave builds em, Josh flies em, Noah crashes em (haha) the first flight of the giant Jenni been waiting for this one.
Way to go Dave!!!
Awesome
Hey Dave. You could make solid rims recesed from the lip of the rim and razed spokes off of the solid face.
Wow! That's why you guys are the best!
That means a lot to us!! Thank You!!!
FT- challenge idea set up the mix on a transmitter so flying an old radial biplane has the real gyro effects in the handling.
Just needs some British Roundel's on it and a pilot called Nigel with a leather cap, goggles and a scarf!!

Wow! in terms of climb rate, it flies like an AeroScout!
Fantastic!
Thank You!!!
Great job 👍
Thanks 👍
I feel like an VR-headseat biplane dogfight league in that scale would be a great sport
great video guys just wondering i was looking at a f14 kit from you guys but none of the master series jets were on the website i was wondering if you could help me find it thankyou
Now you need a pilot!
I wish I could go back in time, and explain "3D printed RC parts" to my dad in 2003 lol
Would it be a good idea to source child sized bicycle wheels in order to make a more durable undercarriage, or would that be too much extra weight?
When I was younger I wanted an actual JN4 with modern power and avionics.
That’s awesome 👍🏻👍🏻
For the wheel could you print the rim band and hub, pause mid print and have spoke slots made into the design and drop carbon or aluminium rods into the print and carry on the print so the spoke are embedded in the print?
yes! print the rims and hubs and use real spokes! (spokes are easy to slip in and install after the print)
I'm still waiting for an RC plane you can ride in!
When did you guys start making the swappable tires? lol
Dad jokes with Dave. Lol
Should we do more? 😂
Flux core is for welding outside. Using gas is for inside welding, welding outside, the gas will blow away, making it useless.
You can use flux core inside but it is not as good
Missed your commentary man! Hope everything is good now.
For the wheels just leave a void for a 6mil clear acrylic disk for the main rigidity.
The Jenny that thermals!
I want a remote control airplane that's a VW bug Snoopy style!! A little Red Baron bug
15:15 Flite test meet measuring test .😂 ....is a beauty monster. Check all the wings directions (pich) if are the same .
I’m not always in favor of putting a mini guy behind the stick. Could use a little old timey dude with a scarf flopping around
Please put a radial engine on it😊😎👍
Hey @FliteTest i really think you should make a rubber band/super capacitor powered plane that's RC and maybe put a kit on your store!!! also 111 likes in 20 mins is crazy
What did Josh say at 24:35? "Super doppy?" Sounds like the Pennsylvania Dutch "dappich".
I'm wondering how long until they build one and someone notices it's big enough to carry a person
love it!
Do something ‘The great Waldo Pepper’ would do with this!
No one says we're not still done with this, everyone says we're still not done with this
Woah plane
Nice sponsor list
Sure hope this video paid the bills !
These guys should also have a class A (water) fire extinguisher 🧯
The powder will end up settling on EVERY exposed surface/object.
Fun channel, folks.
Accurate biplane lore 😂
May need to hit a hardware store for cheap steel spoked wheels then add a little tail weight
Needs a pilot with a scarf! :-)
hi guys , how does the jenny differ from the sopwith camel ??
❤ Awesome ❤
I'm not sure if you need a larger prop for Jenny, I'd be tempted to play with prop pitch first.
Noted! We ordered a little more aggressive pitch prop hopefully to increase the power

Pitch or tip speed versus amps pulled will solve the prop issue.
Cool aircraft! The porno music in the background doesn't help the videos.
Wow. When are You building a giant twin otter?
you guys should make the TAV-37 Valkyrie shuttle from Avatar then crush it in the next video
I wonder what speed the wind need to be at to make the Jenni hover at full throttle.
Definitely not much :-). Hopefully we can find out in our next episode :-)

Holy sh*t this thing is huge
OK.. BUT ARE YOUSURE YOUVE NOT SPOKE TOO SOON....LOLOLOLO
como eu faço meus aviões e etc melhores 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭e eu tenho 10 anos
Home Depot foam is lighter than Lowes green stuff.
What a beaut
Wltoys xk a290 board support 3x coreless motor,,,,,,,,,,,,
I need more thrust
Can I used 3 or 2 coreless motor 1020 on xk a290 board
Double its size and build it into an ultra light?
We thought about it! Should we do it?
I hope in the future you will try to do what I asked you to do in the previous video?
Please
Dave should have flown it first.
Needs a chihuahua
Keep the nose down in the turns. She's only got niny horsepowa!
