Use, “lime dust,” like the kind used on grass for football games to contrast your lawn target. It will make it easier for all to see in the videos and would make a more defined image in you video broadcasts. Making the lawn target is an excellent idea. I hope you guy’s continue to make great videos for the young at heart. I wish their was this kind of tech when I used to build models and fly.
Dropping a platoon of parachute army guys could also be used for this big new target thing, too, to see how many land within the zone to get the most points
Are posts with links to other RUclips videos not allowed? If true, I only found a video with some Aussies dropping a bunch of army guys with a Flite Test plane plus a video where they dropped two RC paragliders on a whim at a flight festival in, I think, VA
Awesome video! Really like how the fruit ball " stuck " the landing. How about an 8 or 10 pound shot put ball ? Or a similar weight paper mache ball filled with a colored powder
Having a bombardier was so AWESOME!!! Flitetest feels like it's getting back to it's roots. Doing fun stuff just because, but I miss the swede. He was so much fun with Flitetest. These big planes have been so much fun to watch.
C-47s converted to gunships received the designation of AC-47s and were called "Puff-the-Magic-Dragon" in Vietnam. They were excellent for busting up Vietcong truck convoys. 7.62 and 20mm Gatling guns chew up trucks quite well.
That's a tall order, but it's possible. 3d print or buy gearboxes to be used with tiny motors. Maybe rc car, they have reverse so maybe you can traverse with this, and use the steering servo for gun elevation.
Dude! You guys are on a golf course, right? Wouldn’t it be awesome to do a bombing golf challenge? Like, actual golf balls dropped from planes trying to get to the green and then putting it in OR maybe putting could be running up the engines when the ball is on the green to blow it in the hole. Could be amazing!
Yes, they own the golf course, but last I remember, it is still used as a golf course part of the time. That didn't close down right when they bought it, but I don't know when it will finally close down
airsoft wont do enough damage from that far away on foam board. If they flew a balsa and tissue skinned plane like the old school style then yeah they could do enough damage from 200 feet away.
Love the 3D-printed/music wire solution for the landing gear! Someone is clearly a Harry Potter fan, modeling the release on the bludger chains. I simply can't wait for the plans!
This is by far the most entertaining video on you tube.... Great good job gentleman.... Need one that brakes open full of something fun. Paint ..or baby powder.. Black powder and primer...
Even RC bomb drops are a challenge! Wonder how hard it would be to do a “Nordon” style bomb drop. Imagine having a flight controller that uses telemetry to set up your plane and project the trajectory of your ordinances drop into your camera. Obviously that would be a huge software challenge, but fun to fantasize how it could be achieved small scale
First, this has become a hardhat required project. An accidental drop of 10 pounds could be lethal. Second, it's fireworks season, make a bomb run through a flack barrage.
Flite Test is awesome! Love what you do. I'd like to see you drop a sealed liter of coke half full and allow the Mentos to mix in with tumble or spin aerodynamics on the liter bottle as it falls. The impact explosion should be epic esp. if you add some red food color!
If you know your airspeed at 400ft, you can easily determine the distance from release to impact, and build a better sight that’s looking that much ahead. Pull trigger on crosshairs. I can see this developing into a competition with different bomber models and points to bullseye. Great video guys Heck, thinking about it more, every plane in the competition has a flight board to ensure same altitude. Why not go all out, and during a competition run, a single fighter from the opposing team tries to interfere with the points-bomb run Standardized bombs with a mixture of talc and lawn feed that explodes on impact
@@NathanMN it has sooooo many possibilities as a team FPV sport. Imagine this. The same team on defense that has a single fighter in the air for each offensive bombing run, also has a FPV anti-aircraft gun near the bombing target. Jesus. You could feasibly, due to the size of the bombers, have a single FPV turret gun on each bomber. All FPV operators would be done via Flite Test’s ground stations.
@@NathanMN Well the problem with that is that the angle of attack they fly at is going to be different with payload weight and wind speed. If they were to fly level with that 10 pound weight the plane would sink like a rock.
@@adamhale6672 That's why I specified angle of bank, not angle of attack. The reason being if the camera is fixed to the fuselage pointing directly down, it will only be useful when the wings are level. If the aircraft is banked at all, the camera won't be pointed where the payload will drop. So the "bombardier" can ensure it's level before dropping it.
You guys need a bunker to stand under with 2"s of plywood sheeting the roof, similar to a dug out, I don't want to see you guys get hurt. That is a killing machine. Stay safe my friend, 👍❤

Good stuff! I just recently watched your video where you airdropped an rc truck and I really want to do that but the truck will be strapped onto a barge and its all on rails so it slides out the back of the plane like butter when i activate. The plane will drop the barge w/ the truck, itll parachute into water, the barge will continue the journey on water, reaches a spot and drops off the truck onto land, truck drives through woods and finds clearing, launches tiny whoop out of the back of the truck! So 4 RC vehicles in one, plane, boat, truck and whoop.
I have been a big fan of flite test for a long time, I have built almost all their diy planes, bought plenty of their parts and I have loved flying rc for a long time now, but I am finding all their new recent videos are just for shock factor which is very cool, but... flite test used to be easy for anyone to do and their videos would inspire me to build. But now all their videos are monster builds and really just not do-able for most people. I am hoping that they will circle back around to inspire me to build new planes and come up with new diy projects.
@@tahoma6889 I don't see anywhere in the law where it states you cannot remotely drop a lawn dart from any particular altitude. You can also change the name. That's my dream as well. I run an aeronautical engineering club as well as work for the summer as an engineer on missile programs at the company that makes most of the US's missiles. I've wanted to team with my school's rocketry and guidance clubs to make a guided missile, but the FAA is pretty stingy about air launched rockets. That being said, we have the commercial licensing and can apply for a waiver, so maybe it's worth a shot.
Mimicking an old style bomb sight by having the camera angle change to account for speed and altitude could be a fun project. A flight controller could provide most of the needed info for adjustments.
The bombsight idea is truly awesome!
