the attention to detail here is incredible. we love to see this 🙌
Thanks for the inspiration!
Its why we love'em 😎
@@FliteTest s
Flite test is true quality.
Yes
WHAMP! There goes the left wing 🤯
Super close but we still got a challenge to beat! Ain't giving up yet 😎
Aint that the truth! ;) LETS GO! ha
You guys need to do this tunnel challenge at Flite Fest next year.
Maybe even have other people attempt to fly their creations through
Mad respect for the quad pilot that flies right on through despite the carnage in front of him.
haha yea was just thinking that, as the drone casually flies in behind him!
cool pilot
Yeah when you shoot gaps with a quad it's like easy mode vs an airplane, after all the thing is maybe 1ft wide and self stabilized.
I love how the video starts with the destroyed remains of a plane. I can relate to that 😃
Same
Every time I play with one lol
Can’t we all?! 😂
It’s especially hard when it’s a $550 plane though...
Your planes last about as long as mine do...
When someone of our club was going to do a maiden flight one of us would always come with a trash bag. New members always asked why was that for. “At the end of the day the plane will easily fit in it.”
One thing I noticed flying FPV planes under the row of tables at my local RC field is that faster is better because there's less time for the wind to affect you and less time for pilot error. If you're going fast and it's lined up it'll make it, because you have no time to react before you hit whether you're going slow or fast, you have to stay ahead of the airplane.
Loved it! You folks are have too much fun. Been flying rc for over 40 years yet you dream up so many ideas for fun. Good on ya!
I am almost done with building the MXS. It assembles really quickly
Same here I’ve just been putting off putting it together
Does it ship with the rods?
@@YeetNuggets it doesn't "ship" really. Its not a physical product. It is a set of files that you print on a 3d printer.
The carbon rods are about 20$ on Amazon.
@@borisdamoleThank you, I’ll look for the rods.
Do you know how much PLA and LW-PLA you used printing this plane? Also how many hours of printing?
Enjoy watching all your videos with all the cool new stuff coming out. Back in the day me and my friend used to play our gas powered planes through the hay barn as we pretended to dogfight but they didn't have this new technology. Yes we occasionally crashed one time we forgot to check to make sure the barn doors were open on both ends because Grandpa had closed it so we spent the next several days repairing a barn door that was damaged by the airplane crashing into it
The real tunnel is much wider in comparison to the wing span of the red bull pkane. It looked about 3:1 to me. Whereas the width of the shipping container in comparison to the wing span of the first two models looked about 2:1 so more difficult in my opinion, well done!
MAN!! KILLER VID!!! ive been watching flitetest for 5 years now and i have NEVER got bored of it!! KEEP IT UP GUYSS!!!
I think y'all just discovered the next big challenge at the next Flite Fest
15:10 "I was strait." Insta shot showed that you were not even close to strait 🤣🤣
That's real bold stuff, guys!
Awesome video.
Glad to see Stefan back as the CO presenter.
The best combination.
Great Intro! you got a good click ratio! I miss old days when you did things like this more often
Wish you guys would finish the ground station build you started...been waiting for part 2 for a long time.
hell yessss
Got to see the FT 3D XL in action this weekend. Can't wait until it's available
great video as always guys!!
#RealBold this is the proper kind of Flite Test energy, wild antics to the max
Always love the intros😀
I watched the tunnel video one year ago thinking flite test should do that and here you are hahaha
That was fun to watch guys 👍 Awesome video 🔥👍✌️
Hands down THE BEST intro the show has delivered!
Hitting gaps and getting stoked, great video.
Maybe you should have placed the plastic between the two containers. You might have wind messing up the flying through the containers.
Fantastic!
Love it !!!!
lets go! awesome video guys!
What a great episode
21:53 that camera angle is cool as mate
Super video And respect
You should also glue the plane back together with no replacement parts and see if it still flies as well. It would also show the repairablity of the eclipson
Use the Tarp and piping to make an Airship, you already have powerful enough engines to control one and you can use helium balloons to give you lift.
With the ft 3D XL your camera on the tail hit the top of the container which knocked you off. Great job with the scout XL though it was probably your best bet to start with because of its stability.
Got to be a Scout!!! My favorite
Great video !
Any chance the FT 3D XL plans are available ?
Josh is now an official barnstormer!! 🤣🤣
Wes is a genius!
maybe you could build a little quadcopter playground ?? hook them up to the sides of some trees ?? make some long dive tunnels !
You should build a FULL SCALE RC P-51 Mustang or Flerken.
Can’t wait to get the mustang i bought at Oshkosh from ya’ll built!!!
Half scale wright flier would be an awesome project for that unused 'tunnel'
Hello team flight you guys are amazing I have a request for you, please make a full video where you make these amazing creation and also tell simple concept of planes and jet engine and how does it work
ooooh you guys should make that at flite fest next year :D
Create a puzzle maze with dead ends challenge inside the tunnel to FPV from one side to the other.
What's the spool weight on the LW PLA in your store? It's not listed in the description.
I'd love to see you revisit this idea in the future
I enjoyed the process more than the result
can you guys release plans fo the ft 3d xl. I realy want to build one.
Men that was so cool even with crashing two planes lol great job
Never in the field of human endeavor has so much fun been had by so few.
this brings me back to when pater sirpol flew the pun jet through the old studio
You should make a huge sail boat out of the old tunnel!
Baby stuff. In 2007 some guys flew a 2m (79") 3d plane thru a tunnel in Stockholm. 3,9km (2,7miles) from a car at 70km/h (44mph)
Copy this into your search bar: Flying under Stockholm
The only thing you can do with the old tunnel is to make it fly FliteTest Style!
Please Josh and team pls do a print version of your FT Flerken ! Colab with Eclipson 😍😍😍that would be the best 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻pls. 😘regards from Switzerland ☺️Sascha
Question: What are the preparations for the FAA RID requirements for the store kits? Great tunnel vid!
Make a remote control balloon out of the tunnel fabric. Mythbusters made it look easy.
I saw one of their performances in Dayton
It was impressive
OK, I think you might be missing how to do this. First, how to do it from flying 'outside the plane'. Situate yourself on the center line, at about the center height. Have a white, visible target on the centerline, well past the tunnel. Bring the plane in from off line near you, into line, and fly away from you. Simply keep the plane in line with the white target in the distance, until you're through the tunnel.
Second, how to do it from FPV. Put a center dot in front of the camera, adjust it until that dot is where you fly to in the distance at normal flying settings. Come down far enough away from the tunnel to square up, then put the center dot on the distant white target and fly to the target, until you get through the tunnel.
You don't really need the white center target in the distance, just pick a visual point beyond the tunnel that's in the right location and fly to it. Trying to fly by and react to the side visual close references is the problem, just pick a distant reference to keep you on line and fly smoothly and you'll hardly ever have a problem. You should hardly even realize the obstruction is there, it effectively isn't there as long as you stay on line to the distant target.
Main point is your chance of success is far higher if you figure out and pick your visual distant target before you enter. If you don't have some point you're consciously flying toward you're far more likely to react or drift off line and crash.
Need to build a RC lawn dart! 5 times normal size drop it from 100' high and RC control
It to the target.
How do you do the roll shot at 21:55? Does the insta360 camera do that in its own or is that Stefan’s edit?
X and T fittings would have helped with the tunnel. Wind though is still a problem!
I would have tried a different plane 1st just to make sure I could do it.
But what a hell of a try! 🤯🥳🤠🤔
Make that old tunnel into a plane! Maybe hang glider style? Something sketchy like old flite test
🤣After all this, I have even more respect for the pilot that did the REAL Red Bull's World Record Tunnel Flight! Great fun! Next attempt? Make sure the tunnel is fully closed throughout it's length = one entry, one exit, no crosswind in the middle....? Make it a feature challenge for all participants at the next Flite Fest?
With the old tunnel materials you should build a giant kite...and then fly straight through it.
That gap in between the containers has to be making an already almost impossible task 2X worse
How is FT dealing with the RID requirements for them to install the RID Hardware in all the planes they sell? Can you even build your RTFs and BNFs after sep 16th, as things stand right now?
Take your pipe, set up a simulated tunnel. No plastic. Start 12 ft wide by 10 ft high. Practice, then make the tunnel smaller gradually. Practice makes perfect.
I remember you talking about this to me at Oshkosh
I just built my FT Spitfire and I love it. I’ve had a problem with the power pod firewall breaking off after a couple landing because of the prop hitting the ground. Is there any way to fix this?
I had the same problem with the scout. I took the landing gear off and flew it and a few time the firewall just breaks off even with tape and glue. I would just make sure to cut the throttle right before you land and to pull up on landing!
@@unhinged11 thanks! I guess the landing gear gives it some protection!
@@CatfishWrangler47 yep!
Use fiberglass reinforced tape (the kind with stripes), and also run an extra bead of glue on the inside where the firewall meets the foam, smearing it to get lots of contact surface. It'll be plenty strong, now you'll break props or motor shafts. 😝
try the fiberglass box tape maybe and sand the sharp edges of the wood it cuts the tape round it
Makes me want to fly again .
Do the Sr 71. 3d print or make one. Speed short wing span etc.
Yes
Fun. Did I miss the fpv view?? Really want it.
i have watched large two-passenger plains that are slow and can just about land on a dime, do you make small plain that can do the same
I think th eproblem was that you were correcting for the crosswind going into the containers but suddenly lost the wind put you into the wall.
looks like fun… Do you think instead of trying to slow down you should've entered those containers wide open I think this would compensate for the wind because once you hit the containers the aircraft has different conditions inside because the wind is being blocked… Should went wide open I thought. Plus here inside the tunnel for less time and less corrections
Maybe having someone walk with the plane through the tunnel so the pilot can see what it’s supposed to look like when put into practice
Hi @FliteTest
Really... You guys don't know the MXS Type ? 😏
Did you do some dimension study before attempting this?
Cool vid, but failed attempt IMO
Maybe go BIG or go Home 😜
Cheers
Evel-Knievel
Chase pilot made it through just fine
LMAO - touch and go on top of the container - almost! You should consider doing carrier landings on top of those containers!
This is gonna attract Ace Combat players like moths to a flame.
Working hard always giving the best result…
Make a giant Rc hang glider out of the pvc and tarps, or a giant parachute to drop something big. 👍
No PCB link?
Muhaha🤣🤣 well made👍
Greetings from germany
you should have red bull air racers. with the cones etc
When will the power pack c be in stock
Oh yeah
I can buy It ?
Planes are so much easier & quicker to build than back in 79 it took me weeks to build my Fokker tri plane, the easiest was my home designed sign board plane back in the 90's as my last flight, I would love to get out and fly again without the nitro hassles and time consuming build. Now relegated to brushed, brushless & gas engined cars, boats & beginner quad from 87 to 2018
You should make a dirigible with the pieces of tunnel
Good to see a challenge that you don't complete easily first try. Honestly the content has seemed less interesting because it always goes perfectly.
Pass the sticks!
Thanks for the response.
Should have opened with sweeping up the pieces, look to camera, "This is what we call foreshadowing"
Going from cross wind crabbing to no wind meant lateral drifting.
I just got real flight 9.5s. Now I can teach myself a ton of moves to win in combat at flitefest…
