The ground turret should be able to reload because they realistically would have tons of ammo laying around, but if it's going to end up in the plane then maybe 2 or 3 reloads per turret.

Cool idea but really? No one realized the brick in front of Lee's turret was blocking his IR? Looks like the system works really good. From what I have seen on the FPV Combat channel and interacted with those guys that system is rock solid in the air on bright days. This is gonna be next level epic when you have the B-17 and two axis attackers doing battle.

Y’all should add laser tag fighter escorts for the B-17, with a P-51, 38, or 47. It would be awesome to see the B-17 with a couple escorts being swarmed by German fighters! I looked at a very (un)reputable source, Wikipedia, and these three were the ones it mentioned. However, a P-40, Spitfire, and Mosquito would also look cool with a B-17.

Great work guys. Just wanted to share an idea. Your spending all this time making the b17, but I'm guessing you're just planning to control the plane/guns with typical RC remotes. What about using some gaming style VR controls? Could you build a rotating chair for the ball turret? Or maybe a standing position with a foam board 50cal that would control the waist gunners. Or a cockpit with two seats and copy the cockpit seat controls you did in the past. Could have some engine toggle on/off switches, allowing you to roleplay the shutting down of damaged engines. Just think it would help massively with the immersion. Keep up the hard work, and if you ever decide to do another huge ww2 bomber, can we have the Lanc please! =)
It'd be a lot of work to do, but there are USB-operated gimbal guns for arcade emulation that could get modified into some M2-analouges. downside being a limitation in how fast the servos can move of course.
Ok, to test the gun platform mount it on an rc truck and see if it can track and hit also you can see if the system can take the violent shock movements of the platform moving and the gun mounts movement. Just a suggestion.
I would like to point out that German pilots preferred Head on attacks and tried to hit the cockpit. A b-17 is extremely deadly to attack from behind. So if you could put a hitsensor on the windscreen it would be historical and supercool. However the risk for collision is also increased. Perhaps reach out to the museum that currently houses the memphis belle and ask for information.
Idea for next project: FPV Jet plane launches a rocket against a ship. It maybe the 14 foot battleship you have already made. Other idea, is a 20 or 30 feet long AIRCRAFT CARRIER.
to prevent laser bounce, paint the walls Vanta Black... then when you hit the wall with the plane... you can say you pushed it to the very edge of space. lol
Actually the shooting power can be selected between two levels by simply flipping the “gun”. The full power indoor will bounce also on dark surfaces! The reduced one will perform better.
I think it would be really cool if you set up these systems throughout the B-17 and had a separate person for the roof gun the belly gun the side guns nose and tail guns and a bomber. Pretty much a full crew.
Why can't I find the bf109 on the site? Fw and Messerschmitt are my fav. The fw is what made me believe in flite test. Built one and flew it, it was amazing.

You can set the number of ammo up to 255 and also customize the burst and performances!
