The aircraft are becoming smarter
NOW THEY ARE HELPING EACH OTHER
Wanted to thank you guys for getting me into flight about 7-8 years ago. Started with a Blade Nano QX. Yup, that tiny little brushed drone. Then took the FC, put it on a brushed carbon frame with 7mm motors and an AKK vtx and camera from Amazon. Shortly after I got the plans for the old FT spitfire, started flying that almost everyday, I worked on a golf course and had permission as long as there weren't golfers on that hole. 8yrs later and I have a dozen badass FPV drones, from a 75mm whoop to a 7" long range. I have the ft goblin with a 1000mw vtx and DVR with a mateksys wing fc running INAV (crashed really hard, just need to rebuild the nose cone) and I have a mighty mini Zero with a nano fpv cam and 500mw vtx. I run 850 4s, with a 2208 2400kv, 45a esc, and 6" prop. Awesome flying micro. It's a little heavy, but I like speeeeeed. I ordered the Master series corsair when it first came out, and lost it when I lost video over a forest one day. (I put fpv on everything). My next dream build from Flite test is the beech 18, with a 6000mah 3s and a long range fpv system. I have a crossfire PWM reciever that's been needing a home for years. And the beech 18 is one of the most beautiful planes you guys have made. I just wish the FW190 was around d the 1.2m size, along with the other warbirds.
I’m waiting to see how you turn a model into a modified paraglider type hybrid that supports 400 pounds with room to spare.
And then put a swing in it and carry peopel
Yeah they definitely need to carry the pope in it
@@awitaman hey thag might be too risky

I love the way everyone works together. Really enjoyed the shenanigans of the tree plane. Great flying to Josh, David, Stefan and everyone else
They are a tight but inclusive culture with an extraordinary gentlemen at the helm.
@+❶ ❸3171❼3➃❼❹hitviaWhatsapp Congratulations you're number 🖕 😁
Kudos to the drone pilot that rescued the treed Flirken! You guys are just over the top.
Next tool added to the toolbox- harpoon \ spear drone recovery device
Was wondering why they were not just using a quad to do the job
I did this with a FT Simple Soarer and a styrofoam space shuttle for my RUclips channel. It’s so fun! I also made a video about making a foam board space shuttle and designing my own carrier drop aircraft for it. Thanks FT for teaching everyday people how to design, build, and fly DIY aircraft!
With that plane you could have a glider launching contest and see who makes the glider that glides the worst, but is able to land on the runway. A glider with a glide ratio of 1:0.5 would be awesome.🤣🤣

Ya sube video Mrcuervo, te extraño....
@@rcdreammedellin431 Hola
@@rcdreammedellin431 Últimamente no hago casi cosas de aeromodelismo. Puedes ver también mi otro canal en el que hago inventos eléctricos y bicis, se llama Gabriel hace cosas. Que ahí sí que he subido algún vídeo.
In the past when getting a plane down from a tree, I've use an arborist throw bag. It's like a heavily weighted hacky sack with a line, that you can easily throw up the tree and wrap around the branch and then you just pull like crazy on the line and shake the plane down. The good part is you don't have to necessarily wrap the exact branch. usually you can just shake it down.
This was a perfect drop. I was afraid the wing strut would hinder the drop.
More than a few years ago I got a airplane model out of a tree with a 20 ga. Shotgun. Two tries just below the craft, and down it came. Different times. Great flying video. Just keeps getting better. Thanks as always!
An old retrieval technique used by R/C boaters and sea/float-plane guys is a fishing pole with a weighted tennis ball on the end of the line, have used it on full scale boats too....for heaving mooring lines too.
Great video! I have also had problems with planes in trees and after some research I found two great ways to get them down. The easiest is to use a slingshot and a bolt or a bow and arrow attached to a fishing rod.
I gotta say... using the leaves as a sabot was effing brilliant!!!
Hi guys. You all have inspired me to get back into building planes again. I just got back into flying again, after being out for about 15 years. I had an idea for a master build that you could try to design. The A-6 intruder was a remarkable jet. It had an incredible lifespan for the US Navy. As a veteran of the navy and a kid growing up of while my dad was in the navy, I got to see this plane a lot. With it's complex rounded nose and lines, I think that it would make a great build to try and make. Just thought I would throw this out there. Keep up the great work. You guys are sure helping people to get into the hobby. Thanks Jim C.
So fun to see Stefan flying! Good job man!
Around WW1 there was this idea of attaching some planes to the belly of a blimp and do exactly this.
Also, with the weight capacity I imagine the big planes has, you may be able to load with batteries and get a 20 flight time
this actually was tried the by the US, but it was a huge failure. There were 4 builds, out of those, 2 were lost due to bad weather, one suffered some issues and was decommissioned, the 4th one was also decommissioned after seeing the failure of the first 3. Also it was really expensive as for safety they were using helium instead of hydrogen back then, but helium was really expensive and hard to get back then (based of my knowledge the US used 3/4 of its ENTIRE HELIUM for this project). So yeah, also with naval technology going through major changes really quickly soon the idea became practically useless.. fast forward a few years, with armored planes that were going 400mph easily this idea would be basically sending a crew of 60 (10 officers, 50 enlistees) to literal suicide with quite literally no practical use.
@@someoneontheinternetuvenev6268
Yip there is an abandoned WWI Helium Plant at Cunningham, KS not to far from where I live. They say that every cubic foot of natural gas at that plant only contains 2% helium. 6 buildings and all underground. They couldnt make enough helium. Closed it down at the end of the war.
wonder why in WW2 they didn't tried it anymore (as I know). Maybe there's something not right, or not working properly with that approach
@@FedJimSmith the Hidenburg disaster basically killed every plan to use Blimbs with helium for any nation. So many people died and it was caught on film which horrified many citizens at that time. If the Lufthwaffe thinks not safe, than you know it's really not safe lmao.
There used to be a computer game called Crimson Skies that had zepplins as mobile aircraft carriers... loved that game.
Stephan's landing was the best. The other guy is not in a tree the meglacy didn't explode all around good day
Ok so when are y'all going to build a B52 that can drop an X-15 now that would be something.
So beautiful to watch. That drop was just incredible. I did keep wondering why you didn't use a drone for the tree rescue, but then you did!!!
It's nice to see the pros out there trying to get a plane out of a tree. I mean I feel bad for you but it makes me feel better.
RUclips is a better place to be thanks to vids like this. Excellent stuff lads! Mark 🇬🇧
More than perfect I smiled through the whole video, I totally loved it even trying to get the flurken down from the tree 😄 you guys are the best ❤
@+❶ ❸3171❼3➃❼❹hitviaWhatsappGreetings how does it go
When I grounded a glider in a tree I ended up getting about 15 -6ft long bamboo sticks and Gaffa taped (duct tape) them together and poked the glider out. - worth having around at edge water seeing as there are loads of trees and you guys fly a hell of alot.
Was a wicked video chaps !!! Well done
Great job guys not only dropping two planes successfully but landing all three without damage. Now onto the B-17.
I would like to see yal make a set of floats for the mega legacy and go up in water.
That's pretty awesome. I'd love to see something like the parasite fighter concept where you can launch a smaller plane (fighter) from a larger plane (bomber) and then reattach and be flown home
Beautiful landings. Great show.
Thanks brother. :)
Is there anything David can't build? The guy is amazing!
I'm sure you are not the first to get an aircraft stuck in a tree, and you'll not be the last.
How about making a dedicated quad aircraft recovery system that can poke, pull, catch, and maybe even lift, stricken aircraft out of high trees and difficult-to-reach places?
A friend of mine spent almost a year trying to recover an aircraft from a tree and eventually lost the aircraft after 10 months or so of trying to retrieve it with all manner of contraptions on a homemade 3D printed very large quadcopter, but after some strong winds apparently swept the aircraft away never to be seen again.
It would be fantastic to see your ideas on making such a recovery system to retrieve stranded aircraft.
TIA,
K.
I love Stephan's progress. Wish that guy was my brother!
Was up in a tree just yesterday rescuing my Mavic Air 2s after backing it in there on a manual orbit shot. While I was climbing is was thinking please don't break branches and also if only I had a second drone to carry a line up so that I could knock my first drone out without the 20ft climb. Looks like you guys proved the drone and line idea would've worked. Great rest of the video too. Now all you need to do is figure out how to land the little planes back on the mothership.
Two things are really good at getting drones etc from trees - well shot arrows, and a DJI F-550 Hexacopter with a hook on a line below it.
I absolutely love it. The. Creativity and fun you guys have is just so fun for me to watch.
Great video guys. Congratulations for you all!
Next time call an arborists, they would of been up that tree on day one lol
Need a recovery drone, attach a harpoonish thing with a string on it.. Something something profit. Or a recovery drone stuck in the next tree.
Maybe look into a carbon fiber arrow with a fishing tip?
Next challenge is to drop, then recapture. Great work guys!
Awesome job everyone, great team work.👍👏👏👏
I still have to put my FT Flerken together. It was nice out the last couple of days so I've been getting some flights in with my Carbon Cub S2 and Nano Talon Evo. But the Flerken is definitely next up!
15:20 - "By the way I don't know how I look on camera because I feel like my head is going back and forth like a crazy person"
No worries, you just looked like Ray Charles in slow-motion.
...that was so fun to watch! Your all Awesome! Happy Holidays Everyone!!
Can you please, please, please do a POV camera on a gimble linked to head tracking on a headset, so when you look around with your head the camera looks around. This would be the ultimate in immersive flying. Do a tutorial on how to build the system and a full parts list... possibly even a few price ranges. I have also been VERY curious about long range systems and what is the a good set-up for say a 5, 10, or even 25 mile range for controls and POV camera.
I think they did do this back in 2012. They also did a similar project on one of the big planes with two "passengers" with pan/tilt fpv cameras.
@@ZakLeek They did one back when Peter worked with them but as far as I know they did not explain what hardware works best with what headset and what transmitters would be needed. It has also been what 3-4 years I think since the covered headsets, and even longer since they did anything with long range transmitters and receivers. I want more how to videos and they have moved completely away from the electronic side except for their little board they sell.
Yes, I would like to see that too! Maybe a series about different aspects of RC electronics or something?
A highly trained cat would have easily brought the plane down. But that never crossed your minds....did it ? Next time call me, I've got filing cabinets full of great ideas !
Loved the video ! Great team work !
Cool! Now build a 16 foot boat with a flight deck at top, launch a plane from it, and make it land back on board.
You guys should build an old-school potato cannon with starting fluid and somehow embed a projectile in the potato with a string attached and I promise you it will launch to the top of any tree you have at edgewater.
Quad with down looking camera, long string or rope, grappling hook on end of rope with sinker, wha-lah!
You guys need to get a lineman extendable hot stick. They are fiberglass and super sturdy. Well worth the money. Awesome at getting kwads out of trees as well. Will get you way up there. Collapses down nice and can fit in the bed of your truck.
And now it's a MOTHERSHIP!!! FANTASTIC!!!!
8:40 Dangle a grappling hook 25 feet below a drone flown overhead. The other end of the string has a loop and a 200 foot long "circle" of 40 lb fishing line. Drone snags aircraft with hook and then releases the 25' grapple line. After drone on ground, use the 200 foot "circle" to transport a heavier duty cord thru the loop at top of grappling line. After heavy cord in place, yank it all down.
I pursue completely different aspects of RC. I'll never do the things these guys do. (latest build TREX 800 Pro)
But I'm glad they do them. And I enjoy watching them do it.
OMG…. That was amazing, great job as always. I’m loving the flerkens.
We need an airplane design contest. We design and vote on which ones you build and test. Things like fastest plane, slowest or most efficient.
make an ultralight next...i know its been done before by another member ....yeah the best RC channel in YT bar none!
Mothership 747 concept always comes to my mind when I see flying aircraft carriers like this one!
One of the things that works best for me to retrieve helis and planes is a large fishing pole. I use the line that is not the typical clear monofilament. I use the other type that is like thick strong thread. I attach a small piece of wood after drilling a hole in it. Works great
😁 I can watch this video over and over and over and over again and never get tired of it, in Josh's voice 🔊 This is incredible 😁😁😁😂😂
Whaaaat!!! Did you really use the ventilation from the laser cutter as a paint booth?!? Thats brilliant!
Fantastic!! So Cool. Great job. I think I need a Flerken now.
Love this channel!
That was Flirken AWESOME!!!!!
I remember watching this channel all the time in 2013, crazy to see how much it has changed. Glas to see this channel is doing so well and making it to 2mil
A lot has changed yes, but not for the better in my opinion though.
@@22hilding I agree, i miss the old flitetest videos with josh scott and david windestal and chad
awesome video guys and the Flerken look cool too. 👍🏻
I still feel like some type of flattop flying aircraftcarrier with a string and hook system on top would be landable for you guys.. *DO IT!*
or maybe a trailing net for the planes to be re-caught in
Yeah! Would also be fun to have working elevators and catapult system, but that might be a bit too much. Would be good to use for future planes though, to see if they could handle a carrier landing…
Love the video and I though it would be such a cool idea if you did this and then tried to dock on the megalacy mid air and then land together
12:21 When the action starts
You should make some giant Blue Angels and fly in formation. Maybe have some remote activated smoke for sky writing
You guys should get a Paintball marker for those Long distance recoveries =)
Awsome project! Not a Carrier through, not until You able to attach back to the mother-ship :)
That was awesome!
Two words. Just splendid.
Oh and can you make an aeroplane that separates into two
That's huge!!!!
Rod and reel and lead weights to get stuff up real high in trees. If you get lucky you snag the right limb and can shake the plane free.
More battles with airsoft! And use some rockets engines to make a bigger propulsion, maybe trying to get higher altitudes using the same idea of this video, great work!
Great team guys! Happy Holidays!! From Bellefontaine
Amazing job.
Can't wait to see the 20' Flerkin 😜
I know y’all are mainly electric, if not 100%, but it would be sweet to try and set up an aerial refueling setup on a glow model.
They could try a dry contact
In the past, I have used a bow and arrow with a string tied to the arrow. I will shoot the arrow into the tree around the branch and just yank on the branch until my drone gets out of the tree. Sometimes it works right away. Sometimes it takes a while, but it always works.
That was so cool.
I love your shows!
Excellent!
I love to see a release and mid-air Docking
Now some how you have to get the planes to dock back with the Megalicy.
BluJay! It’s awesome to see you there.
Could you make rocket launching airplanes sometime? I think it would be fun
oh, yes. and launching a rocket to a ground target, for example THE TANK USED IN PREVIOUS VIDEOS.
Okay maybe this is too big, but I think it would be super cool if you bought a kit plane and built it. Like a real kit plane.
That's so awesome 👌
Time to mount a 360 camera, and create short 360 VR experiences. VR Head sets are dropping in price and I have been looking for content to watch in this new way. Meeting Elephants up close was so cool, I suspect wing walking could an awesome experience too! Old biplane wing walk, first person video, that would be thrilling in VR and I am certain it would get views for the experience. Keep up the great videos.
Love your content!
Maybe small coil springs on the launch rails, that get compressed during mounting?
Your realeses seemed almost flawless.
Not what I expected of an Aircraft carrier if I must say but very impressive. I was hoping for an Aircraft Carrier on Water maybe you can repurpose the battleship can add a flight deck and stuff
How do you guys not have a arborist sling??? Another good way is to make a servo operated claw that hangs on a rope below a drone (run servo wire up rope to drone). Put a bottom facing camera on a switch on drone. Lower claw down and grab plane/drone. Yes it is a dedicated rescue machine, but when you live near trees or bandos it makes a very useful tool.
Man, the Flerken is such an AWESOME design! Reminds me of all the “F-19” artist’s concepts before the F-117 was unveiled. I want one!
Also I know it doesn’t make for exciting content, but is the FT team familiar with ladders?
I want to see aerial launch and recapture, DARPA Gremlin style!
It would be so much fun to visit and fly there 😎.
nice flight, beautiful as usual.
always a pleasure to watch your videos.
thanks for the partarge.🎥🎥👌👌🎥🎥
Scale up the Mega Legacy by about 1.6x, and you've basically got yourself a twin engine cessna 172. Insane.
bell X 1 the right stuff luv your shows
You guy are a lot of fun
You guy's rock so awesome way to go soo very awesome
