I was wondering if it could be done. It seems like it would be easier in a way, but I have only done RC cars a few times and am an equipment operator here and there so I"m used to running lifts and excavators backwards (my preferred way to walk them any distance) but with the stakes of crashing a plane, it seems like first person would be easier but also cool as hell, maybe scary.

Props to the drone pilot. I fly FPV and can appreciate how terrifying that must have been around a moving target that's very unpredictable for a quad pilot to fly proximity with.
lol i noticed how he was staying to the sides of it until he got above it too much then how quick he would bug out after seeing matt flip end over end on on a car hood length and able to bug out in any direction....that was funny " uh oh i think---see ya bye! "
Wow, good job Cleetus. I flew RC for years and that was not an easy plane even for an experienced flyer to just jump on the controls and land like that.....very nice.

Its not that difficult to do, especially if the object you are filming is basically stationary. Any reasonable FPV "drone" pilot could do that, even me. 🙂 Good light and a sunny day really helps with getting a good image too.

What a cool jet! You are living every little boy's dream! We never grow up, the toys just get bigger and more expensive.
Energy management is the same struggle in bigger planes too as you move to faster and more slippery birds. If you bounce off the runway, you have excess energy (speed). Cutting power back at the right time and nailing your approach speed is the magic that makes or breaks a good approach and landing.

He wasn't pretending, I promise you. Flying something that expensive, especially in front of an audience is nerve-wracking. I know from experience.

Cleetus I have been flying rc planes and jets since 1986 and you did an amazing job flying your first turbine jet .Great job and enjoy it.
That was a lot of fun to watch, now I want to learn how to fly RC plains, maybe in 10 years I will be able to fly a RC jet. Thanks Cleetus.
Hey Cleetus check out the fpv setup for those you can fly it like you are actually sitting in the cockpit and they have head tracker goggles that will let you look around with the camera so it is almost like a virtual reality headset but it’s the jet your flying so bad ass
Matt's crash at 1:55 truly is hilarious. I know nothing about flying RC jets and am SURE it's not easy. But still - that crash was comic book worthy lol.
Even knowing how painful that type of thing is, I can't stop laughing at that video.

The delta wing supposedly can have a much higher angle of attack on landing than a wing with less than 30° sweep. It also generates humungus lift at those high angles.
This is only useful in landing.
But at the high angles (15-20 degrees) it also creates humongous drag. So a go around can involve a slow transition to safe climb configuration.
But something to experiment with on landing.
All the residual thrust probably makes it trickier to set up for high nose landings.
Deltas are a breed of their own.
Then with the canard, that throws in another element, which may negate everything I just said, as it controls the stall angle.

Really making me want to slowly get into aviation rc im going to do alot of research and studying before i even think about buying my 1st plane i own drones n a helicopter already and many basher rc cars of every size but this is a whole different horse thankyou for the inspiration cleeter n crew

Crazy fun power to weight ratio had that thing off the tarmac in next to nothing time and distance. That first run was like the first time watching the Blue Angels but with that “never know what Might happen” edge. Super Cool!!

I think this may be the first 40+ minute video I have ever watched on YT. Jets are a whole different ballgame. I love my big ass old Horizon Beast biplane for 3D but flying my Havok is adrenaline purified. Nothing tops turbines for a rush. Also, props to the drone pilot.

That’s pretty awesome and the wife didn’t seem too angry. Cleetus’s son had a big smile on his face, that was cool to see. Anytime Sam, George and the rest of the crew are involved, it’s a good day.

This is really cool! Is this modeled on a real jet?? It looks like the F-16XL demo (larger F-16 intended for sustained supersonic flight via cranked delta wing). The fuselage really looks an F16, including cockpit canopy, plus the single engine and prominent intake from the nose. The canards and delta wing together resemble the twin engine Euro fighter. This RC demonstrates the agility & maneuverability that canards provide to a delta wing in subsonic/low speed regime.
Was thinking Euro/Raffaele but apparently it's a RC J-10... Not sure we get footage of any of the newer Chinese birds strutting their stuff outside of RC

Proof speed is speed. You either are a master of it, or you aren't. Superb flying there Brother! I'd keep that green. Beautiful colour and you can see it so well. Something that fast and maneuverable, you are going to want to be able to easily see it.
