I think next week's Cinemassacre Rental Review should be 1985's Santa Claus: The Movie starring David Huddleston, Dudley Moore and John Lithgow! Appropriate that it will be the last before Christmas!

Hey James ITS RYAN ONE OF YOUR FANS I woundering when you going to be doing a NEW Christmas AVGN EPISODE
you guys should watch The Ref.. it's better than diehard!!!
omg i can see up that guys shorts :(
"Home Alone is like Die Hard for kids." .... LMAO!
So, if Home Alone went to a summer camp.
Would it be Friday the 13th for kids? 🤔
@Seckswithatoaster Cool story bro
Paul Bart is Die Hard for morons
He’s not wrong
Gremlins is definitely a Christmas movie.
I don't even get why that was even mentioned in this video lol. There is no debate that can be had that Gremlins is not a Christmas movie.
Absolutely.
@@kaneinight It’s my favorite Christmas movie. Whenever I tell people this, they’re like “Gremlins? That’s not a Christmas movie”. Clearly they haven’t seen Gremlins.
Gremlins is definitely a Christmas movie
Gizmo was a Christmas present to Billy.
In Russian film called "крепкий орешек" : "nut hard to crack"
In Latvian the same but we have 2x meanings nut hard to crack (tuff math problem etc) & hard nut :D i realy like "Hard Nut" . Tough French failed when called Die Hard a Glass Trap
Чуваааак… "nut hard" - это эвфемизм для фразы "жёстко кончить" >_< А "to crack" доводит её до "…пока не треснет" :D Уж тогда либо "tough/hard nut", либо "a nut [that's] hard to crack" ;)
English-speakers, don't mind this… :]
In polish we had Glass Trap, idiotic translation
In latinamerica it's called "Duro de Matar", which is a bad translation of "Die Hard" and translates literally to "Hard to Kill". In Spain it's called Jungla de Cristal, meaning Crystal Jungle.
In German we call it 'Stirb langsam', which actually means 'Die slowly', like as an order given to someone.
It’s been our family tradition to watch Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, and Christmas Vacation for the last 30yrs. Even if no one is watching it, it’s playing in the background during our Christmas party. Thanks to my parents who believe Die Hard is the greatest Christmas movie of all time, so I was raised with Die Hard lol
I remember my buddy dragging me to see this. I didn't want to go because I found Bruce Willis irritating from his show Moonlighting. I left that theatre a huge fan. It's still one of my favorite movies to this day!
That was pretty much everyone's skeptical opinion at the time. "The guy from Moonlighting? As an action hero?!?!?!?!"
Here in italy “trading places” is broadcasted on tv every Christmas eve so it’s kind of a traditional christmas movie here 😌
That's cool, it usually plays around the holidays here in the US (you're likely to see it any time of year though) but not so much that I think it's become a big Christmas movie. It's a pretty classic/popular comedy in general though.
"Che Natale sarebbe senza 'Una poltrona per due'?"
It's incredible how this whole Christmas Eve/Trading Places situation has become a solid staple of italian culture, it has literally become a tradition.
It's such an interesting subject if you think about it
AVGN is the friend I've never met.
*S A M E*
As much as he may be able to beat Godzilla with only curse words, he seems like one of the most down to earth people I've ever seen! Wish I could meet him one day!
True, James is the friend everyone wants, but not all of us deserve...
This is so true, yet so sad.
you should all watch red letter medias videos, now thats having real HACK fraud friends
The german name of "Die hard“, "Stirb langsam“, means "die slowly“ in english.
Charles McCarthy To the people that don’t speak German. This is a joke (somewhat) :D Messing around with the words a little bit.
yeah whateva, who cares how it sounds in german?
Cousin Pac Obviously not you... But if someone did this with any other language I would care. You might forget it the second after you read it, but it would be quite nice to know for the second. And I don’t get why you commented it? There are things that you are interested in and in which others are not interested in. And they don’t constantly comment things like “Who cares about this.”. At least I don’t do this. So why do you? Interests of people should respected! If you don’t care that’s fine. But why do you invest time to bother other people that care about it?
The czech name of “Die hard”, “Smrtonosná past”, means “lethal trap” in english.
In Russian the title is 'Tough Nut'.
Die Hard is a 10/10 classic - but for Christmas movies Lethal Weapon did it a year earlier and turned it up to 11.
Gremlins is *definitely* a Christmas movie. It doesn't just take place during Christmas but Christmas is a theme in the movie.
Adiaha Alexander boooooom? Gremlins definitely bring me back to christmas. Ive went to the movies an seen it when i was like 5 yrs old!!!!
One of the many Merry Christmas themes is Kate describing to Billy about how her dad was decomposing in her chimney while dressed as Santa...HO! HO! HO! :(
you're cute) P.S.for the fellow commenters- yes i think it is the best place and time to pick up girl))
@@SquinkyThreepwood RIGHT?!!! LOL
@@straightlucky1382 lol thanks 😁
Love James and all these guys, but BRING THIS SHOW BACK YOU HACKS!!!!
Gremlins is a Xmas movie... PERIOD! More so than Die Hard. For the same reasons. Gizmo was a Xmas gift.
"We should do speed later."
- James Rolfe, 2018.
Nah he gave that shit up.
Justins face tho
whats the joke here? is it like a dirty joke? I dont get it:(
@@spacesheep2574 its a drug reference
@@atsundiunstrun9199 ahh that makes sense. thanks!
in Spanish is called "Duro de matar" which translate like "Hard to kill" and that's what the movie is about, he is hard to kill
Creo en España le pusieron "la jungla de cristal" eso que.. 😊
In Spain it was called "La Jungla de Cristal" which translates to "The Glass Jungle", in reference to the Nakatomi Plaza Building. Then second part came along where a building has nothing to do with it but they kept the name. "Hard To Kill" is a 1990's movie starring Steven Seagal. Yeah, it's all very confusing I know.
There is a movie called hard to kill lol
Duro de Matar is for LatAm. Jungla de Cristal is in Spain.
I love the idea of a Carl Winslow extended universe 😂
You can add the TV Series Chuck to that list as he plays Al Powell in that show...even though they talk about the Die Hard movies in season 5 and Morgan tries to act like John McClaine in the season 4 Christmas special
He also plays s police officer in Turner & Hooch.
he's in crocodile dundee too
Die Hard 2 and Lethal Weapons can also count as Christmas movies
Also the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service (which has a very depressing ending).
Riggs!
@@rocketcon that movie is just depressing throughout.
@@FUNKOfilms Watched it last night. I agree.
Now i like Long kiss goodnight 1996 better as die hard as my Xmas action movie
To be honest, I still consider it a Christmas movie, but in the case of them saying the movie isn't SUPER tied to Christmas, that's honestly what makes the movie special like Trading Places and Lethal Weapon. The movies' holiday details make them a fun seasonal watch, but not SO distracting that watching them out of season feels wrong. They're movies you can watch anytime, but have that seasonal bonus when watched on the holidays. To me, instead of the examples they gave, they should've gone more with something like Toy Story or Ted.
Does skillshare have any classes on how to defeat evil terrorist in a building?
No, but watching Die Hard will teach you how to defeat thives covered as terrorist on a japanese corporation.
Let's set the record straight; Die Hard is NOT a Christmas film in the literal sense, but the story is set at Christmas time and has ample references to that fact which still makes it perfect to watch at Christmas time.
Fan theory: Al Powell shot Urkel because Urkel pointed a toy gun at him one night and Powell had to move to LA because he couldn’t handle the guilt of accidentally killing his neighbor
"Guilt", or to avoid a further investigation? LOL, you know he did that shit on purpose.
Two different characters
@@jamesanderson6373 He chose to legally change his name too, obviously. :P
*Nakatomi tower explodes*
Did I do thaaat?
Nah.
Mad max 1 is not better than Die hard come on
especially when it comes to action, madmax1 isnt even really an action movie at all
yes it is
Im an Aussie and i think Die Hard destroys Mad Max 1
@@Pete-eb3vo You know when it comes to this nobody is right or wrong. It's an opinion not a fact. I think personally the Mad Max movies are better.
Mad Max is a thriller while DH is action. Both different all together. I love both in their own way.
I really want to see a Rental Review of the Star Wars Christmas Special! This episode's really fun so far!
;)
Really hope James and friends rip it to shreds!
And for everyone who's bitched about the recent Star Wars films!!
I honestly don't know as to how you could hate the new Star Wars films!!
But think that the Holiday Special is worthy of endless praise and love (Same goes for the Prequel Trilogy)!!!
Dylan Smith I like all Star Wars movies except for Ep VII, VIII, and Solo, those really bummed me out. I went to the premiere of Force Awakens and I realized that I wasted my money for (basically) some 'A New Hope' reboot. And as for The Holiday Special, it's so bad, it's good!
Can't wait for them to do a Rental Review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi 20-30 years from now.
Gremlins is most definitely a Christmas movie.
"Welcome to the party pal"
23:21 “We should do Speed later” “w-woah” “no, lmao!”
He was so ashamed of saying that lol
I didn't understand it in the drugged up way the moment I heard it :-P
I think Gremlins is more of a xmas movie than Die Hard imo.
Jaws 4: The Revenge is technically a Christmas and a New Year's movie!
William Lowery yeah it’s great watching one of the adult Brody kids get eaten by a giant shark while kids sing Christmas carols!
Since Gizmo was actually a Christmas present to Billy.
And the movie retained Christmas themes and settings.
never quite understood the hate for DH2
@asian dude Mad Bull 34 :D
Trading places IS a Christmas movie here in Italy, since year one it aired every Christmas Eve after.
THIS, in Italy is called "Una poltrona per due" and basically it's broadcast every year, BIG Christmas cult!
Batman Returns is my favorite Christmas movie
We should do speed later :D
I honestly don't understand the hate for Die Hard 2. I think it's just as good as 1 and 3.
I liked part 2 the most.
2 drags on a bit sometimes but has the best villains and also the best comedy
2 was dope
2nd one is awesome ! I always loved DH2
All but 5 are great
What was the name of "Die Hard in a hockey stadium"? It had Van Damme
Sudden Death
That's a decent film
Big fan here klayton awesome work on your JP videos
hahahahahahaha
And Under Seige is Die Hard on a ship... Segal even rips a dudes throat out
The best christmas movie of all time.
They reviewing gremlins?
Correct
This was THE Christmas movie for the household I grew up in, just saying
There is actually a guy named Hans Gruber who lives in the town I grew up in. My dad always made a joke out if his name when I was a kid, and I never got the joke till I got older and realised he was referencing Die Hard. Haha
I think of it as a Christmas movie for adults for sure. Too many little references in your face.
"Oh no, I'm stuck in the vent"
Alice Clarence must have been all those TV dinners.
if u were 3 hundo u wouldnt be getting thru any vent yourself
Time for some Winnie the Pooh type antics
I low-key thought he was gonna suggest a diet instead of skillshare to get out of the vent from all those Christmas cookies lol
everyone except for James have trouble fitting through the basement door
"now i have a machine gun... Ho, ho, ho... "
Tony has had a lot of girlfriends to be able to have to explain his Die Hard bedroom poster many times.
16:40 In Spanish its called 'Duro de matar', and that means literally Hard to kill, which makes alot more sense... but that would not sound so catchy.
I remember my dad letting me watch this at the age of 11, I thought it was kick ass
Exactly it was my family movie.
My workplace had this heated debate months ago lol! The best line from the argument was when I blurted out: "John McClain walked on glass to save Christmas!"
We were a bit nerdy lol
James says Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie, because Christmas movies should be for everyone, since you watch them with your family... but what if you spend your Christmas alone?
It's a Christmas movie for me.
My top three Christmas movies are Die Hard, Lethal Weapon and Jingle All The Way.
Same
That settles it, I’m watching Die Hard on VHS.
Ho Ho Ho now i have a Machinche Gun
Hey, I want a machine gun, too!
You said that backwards
@@AceD500 But you don't get one, you get a Machinche gun.
Christmas movie confirmed.
@@moviemetalhead Oh, right.
Well, then I want a bazooka!

Die Hard 2 is also a Christmas movie
Nothing is more Christmas than the airport officer removing McClane's fee.
Die Hard 2 is also a Christmas movie. Remember at the end when Captain Lorenzo rips up McClane’s parking ticket? He says it’s Christmas! 🤣
I'm gonna go see this here in London on glorious 70mm original print as they show it every December as a Christmas Special. This will be my 3rd year doing this now and it is a Cinematic masterpiece to watch on the big screen.
@Nosaveddata Too right. And the sound track is different in the cinema version. So much better and more immersive.
Omg! I can't belive they mentioned Die hard trilogy for the ps1! That game was awesome!
What about ......jingle all the way!
It's turbo time!
Hahahahahah
I loved it as a kid!!!
Can we talk about how awesome the steyr Aug is in this film..
The Bruce Willis headboard has to be one of the saddest stories I've heard all year. Thanks for ruining my Christmas. xD
If Die Hard isn´t a Christmas movie then Die Hard 2 is a Christmas movie!
Die Hard 1 and 2 is about John McClane, a NY cop who tries to reconciliate with his distant wife and children. What's not Christmas about it?
Miss these guys! Everyone has his own personality and bring great chemistry to the show!
God I love these guys!
I wonder where James found these guys?
These videos are just top notch. Feels chill but high in production.
Thanks, Nerd, and Merry Christmas to you & your family
We got Alien Vs Predator
Now give us John McClane vs Kevin McCallister
Hard to Kill vs Home Alone 2
This Cinemassacre Video series has been one of the best Christmas gifts ever. And yes, "Die Hard" is a Christmas movie.:-)
My middle name is mcclayne because of this movie. My dad saw it before i was born and really liked the name.
DIE HARD is NOT A CHRISTMAS movie.............. Its a summer blockbuster that occurred during the holidays.
Review Drunken Master :D
You got it
Also Hans Gruber wasnt shown shooting much because he had such a bad flinch while shooting, its very evident in his one scene where he fires the pistol.
Best Die Hard's from best to worst?
1. Die Hard 1
2. Die Hard 3
3. Die Hard 2
4. Die Hard 4.
5. Die Hard 5.
Hard hard?
Hard Hard: Hard harder
you put die hard vengence above die hard 2 you monster
Just forget last 2
Just happy to see die hard 3 in second place
This movie could not have taken place "any other time of the year".
"Now I have a machine gun. Ho-ho-ho." The movie needed that line, so it needed to be at Christmas!
Batman Returns and Die Hard are Christmas movies
Steven Slater and is the earth flat too? 🙄
Penguin dying in the sewer
FA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!!!!!
When you search "christmas" on prime video, die hard shows up. Confirmed.
Definitely the best Christmas film. But, _Scrooged_ is my favourite actual “CHRISTMAS movie”, in the non-debated sense of the term.
Now, when are we gonna have a _Halloween_ movie, set at Christmas?
Does The Nightmare Before Christmas count?
Ever heard of the Nightmare Before Christmas?
@@TheDoomMaster
Bingo
+rocketcon +DoomMaster10913 I meant John Carpenter’s Halloween.
Dude those shorts... have mercy
The German title is called: Stirb Langsam, which translates to Die slowly
The Czech title says "Smrtonosná past" , which means " Deadly Trap" :)
@@oudaak1 interesting!
In spain: "Jungla de cristal" (crystal jungle)
In latinamerica: "Duro de Matar" (Die hard)
The Russian title translates to A Hard Nut to Crack.
Finnish title is Vain kuolleen ruumiini yli. Translates to Only over my dead body.
Die Hard 2 is the real Christmas Die Hard.
Asian Dawn. D - A - W - N.
The delivery of "I read about them in Time magazine" always gets me. Perfectly sums up the character.
I literally just watched this with my dad 5 mins ago! The film
Scrooged!!! Great Christmas movie
Yessssss!
In Greek, "Die Hard" is called "Πολύ σκληρός για να πεθάνει"
"Too tough to die"
Gremlins and Die Hard are totally Christmas movies!
If home alone is a Christmas movie then die hard and gremlins are definitely Christmas movies. Home alone is no more a family movie just for being rated lower than either of them.
Gremlins, yes. Die Hard is not a Christmas movie.
If James does that compilation of fall scenes, don't forget Goldeneye. "For England James? No... For Me."
James you are wrong. It is totally a christmas movie.
What diminishes his point is thata he mentions several movies that should be considered Christmas movies just because they have scenes during Christmas. Well, Die Hard is set on Christmas, the whole movie takes place during Christmas Eve.
This is my favorite movie of all time and i have made it a tradition to watch it every Christmas on top of all the other times
it's a Christmas action movie, He came to LA to spend Christmas with his family and has to fight his way to do so.
I really enjoyed the 2nd one...
NEXT TO CALDOR!
Die Hard and Gremlins have been my family's x-mas movies for as long as I can remember.
Review Jack Frost. The horror movie not the same titled family movie
I’m sorry which is which both are equally as terrifying
Die Hard 2 was amazing. The icicle kill scene was brilliant.
I have the 30th anniversary Christmas edition of Die Hard with the Christmas sweater cover with Hans wishing me a Merry Christmas. Checkmate.
Please make a Episode of my most loved Christmas Horror/Comedy Movie: "SANTA'S SLAY" it is a must watch.
Die hard is still a Christmas movie to me. I dont care what people say.
Even though villains falling to their death is a common trope, it never gets old for me. I find that trope to be symbolic of the villains' downfall.
Die hard is a christmas movie it just so happens to be a great action movie too.
In my opinion, Die Hard is better than Terminator 2 (hate that junior high school John Connor actor), and better than Mad Max 1 as an action film (still a great movie though). I agree, Raiders of the Lost Ark is still better
*Now I have a Machine Gun. Ho Ho Ho!*
Perfectly Sliced Egg Yes. They say that in the movie
Die hard 2 is more of a Christmas movie technically than die hard 1
Merry Christmas everyone!!
Merry Christmas to you buddy
Watching these guys talk about movies & games makes me wish I had more friends who would love to do the same with me.
ive been trying to get this to be played in my school for 2 years now
I love Die Hard. Great movie that still holds up today lots of classic/memorable Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman lines in that movie. One of my favorite Xmas movies of all time. Watch it every year this time of year. Keep up the great work on these rental reviews. Love them.
9:09 gave me life. And even the fact they kept the movie that shall not be named blurred made it hit home even more!
