I'm really glad you brought this up, this was a common trend to hit the Eagle Video (local independently owned video store) right after pops came home from work. Must have been because payday was an easily justifiable excuse to rent a few flicks.

I wasn’t alive in the 80s or 90s but when I was showing my video game collection to my 40 year old cousin she saw my copy of Goonies II for original Nintendo, had a bit of a nostalgia rush because she hadn’t seen the movie in forever, and was like “Sloth isn’t in that game is he? He always creeped me out as a kid”. This made me laugh because the Goonies was my favorite movie as a 7-year old. Made sure to explain to her about how there was a Goonies 1 game for arcades that followed the movie almost to a tee and sloth wasn’t even in THAT one.

LOVED this movie as a kid, and I still enjoy it now. Somewhere I came across a 1080i version on DVD that someone made I think from a dish or directv showing or something. My uncle was into BMX and even made a replica of the ramp Cru is trying to backflip on. BMX Bandits has its place, but I think taking riders and having them act was better than taking actors and trying to turn them into BMX riders. Soundtrack is great on Rad, the stunts are great, the riding is real, and yeah maybe it's a nostalgia trip for me, but it's still worth watching if you haven't seen it.

I remember going to the bookstore and begging my mom to buy me a BMX magazine. Everyone in school was talking about this movie and loved it! This is a movie , that if you were a teen in the 80's YOU 100% KNOW AND LOVED THIS FILM!! This wasnt some unknown movie that no one knew about! Skatrebording was getting big at the same time too. Tony Hawk was skating for Powell Peralta with the legendary Bones Brigade. This was a convergence of pop culture that would eventually lead us to the X Games. Any way, if you talk about rad you gotta talk about thrashin !! They go so well together. I fell you cant talk about one with out talking about the other. They need to be box set..lol

Every kid wanted a BMX bike in the 80's to ride around and get permanent scars on their elbows and knees attempting tricks. (We didn't need no pads back then!) We used the trick pegs on the rear and front axles to haul passengers. All one had was solid plastic frame wheel rims and front and back hand brakes along with being able to spin the handlebars 360 degrees. I got a cheap Huffy but hey I was still happy and must have put a thousand miles on the thing. Everyone rode bikes back in the day-kinda sad to see not many kids doing it or when they do their parents make them put motocross armor on. We learned how to ride by realizing the more we crashed, the more painful the learning experience would be.
Everyone with a skateboard and boombox (that took 6 or 8 'D' batteries) would play 'Send Me An Angel' while skateboarding in the park.
