Man, this episode REALLY brought back the nostalgia for me, as it reminded me of some of your earlier videos such as Back to the Future, where you would intersplice clips from the movie. Hilarious and awesome! Hard to believe how many years have passed since those old videos. Thank you for always being there to give me a laugh!
I love the movie. It's a classic of my childhood so I was pretty upset when i saw an interview with Richard E Grant and he said it was the film he most regretted.
I actually rented this as a kid and I loathed it completely and ended up returning it the following day, forgot about it until I saw this video. The movie itself wasn't bad it was a goofy type of comedy action film. But I've always enjoyed Bruce Willis films like the Die Hard movies, Pulp Fiction, Death Becomes Her, the Sixth Sense, the Last Boy Scout, and Fifth Element.
But the film failed at the box office: apparently the audience was waiting for an action movie, and they did not like the comedic direction of the film.
I had a ZX Spectrum back in the day and I remember the port of this game being pushed a lot on the magazines. Actually it's surprisingly close to the NES release...

Thanks! It's actually a really simple edit. I stood off camera, and took the beer out of James's hand while he stayed as still as possible. Then he did a reaction shot after I got out of frame. The bottle breaking is just a png of the bottle that I photoshopped out of his hand and used the shatter effect in AfterEffects on. Then it's just a matter of cutting the two shots together, adding a stock water splash effect, and tweeking the physics of the shatter effect

The line about the hypothetical end screen to Contra actually made me laugh a bit. That hasn't happened when watching AVGN since probably.. 2012?

I absolutely adored the GB version of this game as a kid - had no idea it was a movie until I was a teenager, I was just happy to have a new game.
I discovered this on a 100 in one game cartridge I got from my aunt years ago.. I never tried to complete it, but I remember its kickass soundtrack :)
