As for the rest, I feel like this might be a fresh start. James seems to be trying to bring back some of the classic elements, with wilder tangents, more anger and more chaos, not to mention that the lines feel more natural than the ones he did with a teleprompter, and that Mike's back. Here's hoping to more content like this.

This video, has re-sparked that old feeling from the classic nerd era, EVERYTHING felt like an oldschool episode, the writing, the editing, the acting even having a random ass character popping up and beating the shit out of James, even hearing Mike's voice in an episode again really brought everything back, it hit EVERY beat of a classic episode and I really hope this wasn't just a once off because of the opening 5 minutes. Agreed - James and Mike need each other. Mike has the gaming skills and knowledge, while James has the creativity to script it and direct it into a medium that is funny and relatable. They don’t work well without each other.

You are one of the few original RUclipsrs that haven't been drawn by ''I want to stop because I wanna try new things'', ''I want a bigger career'', ''I want to become a publisher''. @ghost mall James is one of the few original youtubers that are still around. Channels like Smosh, Jenna Marbles, =3, Pewdiepie all decided to go to other direction. Either for personal reasons or just right idiocy (Anthony leaving Smosh because he wanted to be more open, and Ray ending =3 because he wanted do more projects). For me James is the original youtuber comedic critic and we all own him a big thanks.
This might sound odd, but I actually like hearing the echo while the nerd is talking in the beginning. It also helps appreciate how improved these newer episodes are.

The last ninja game anybody should ever play. I was 8 years old when it came out and it was the absolute worst video game rental of my childhood. Great episode right here for such a Grade A POS nes game!

This is what I appreciate so much as James Rolfe. He listens to feedback and truly cares about what his audience thinks of his content. I hope this new style of AVGN which combines a lot of what we loved about the old style but with the updated looks of the new style will continue going forward as the feel of this episode has taken me right back to 2010 when I started watching AVGN.

Ah, it's beautiful. This is one of the best Nerd episodes to date. The slow return of vulgarity felt less forced like in the Megaman Games episode, it felt more like the Nerd was losing his patience before finally snapping and murdering that Ernie puppet. The jokes all throughout were splendid and genuinely humorous, and the return of the old explosion effect from '06 made me so wistful for those schooldays back in 2015 where I'd watch old Nerd episodes. I'm looking forward to more AVGN if it's written like this.

If you've been watching that long, deep in your inner subconscious, you've also come to the realization in the video game world, that a certain plumber in suspenders can jump farther and higher than most ninjas in these video games; not only that but he along with many other mascots can do something that many ninjas in video games for some mysterious reason are unable to do; and that my friend is touching H2O and swimming in it as well...
Ernie was the one who did the “Rubber Duckie” song which was the B-side to “Sesame Street”. I remember seeing the 45 of “Sesame Street” and “Rubber Duckie” on the flip.

Deep down my favourite AVGN bit is when he repeatedly fails to make a jump and just gets more and more frustrated. This game was setting him up for that so perfectly you'd think it was deliberate.

I like how during the last attempt the boat stops for a second after he falls in the water then starts moving again 😂 like the boat was taunting him
I thought for sure it was setting up for a "you can just walk over it," since the boat looked close enough you could get on it that way.
This is one of the greatest videos he's made period, so glad to see such an amazing return to form! He's still got it

The Ernie skit at the end was well done, something about Ernies patrionizing tone was hilarious, a nice breath of fresh air to the episodes, look forward to more funny skits.

Ah, it's beautiful. This is one of the best Nerd episodes to date. The slow return of vulgarity felt less forced like in the Megaman Games episode, it felt more like the Nerd was losing his patience before finally snapping and murdering that Ernie puppet. The jokes all throughout were splendid and genuinely humorous, and the return of the old explosion effect from '06 made me so wistful for those schooldays back in 2015 where I'd watch old Nerd episodes.
I'm looking forward to more AVGN if it's written like this.

Been watching from the very beginning James, the Angry Nintendo Nerd days, I was a child when I started watching you and am now a grown man with a baby on the way, you probably won't see this but thank you for all the fits of laughter you have put me in over the years, you the man!
If you've been watching that long, deep in your inner subconscious, you've also come to the realization in the video game world, that a certain plumber in suspenders can jump farther and higher than most ninjas in these video games; not only that but he along with many other mascots can do something that many ninjas in video games for some mysterious reason are unable to do; and that my friend is touching H2O and swimming in it as well...

Ernie was the one who did the “Rubber Duckie” song which was the B-side to “Sesame Street”. I remember seeing the 45 of “Sesame Street” and “Rubber Duckie” on the flip.

I love James, he's a true artist who has always tried not to stay in his comfort zone but I think going back a few steps to give us the classic Nerd is a wonderful surprise, I really wish he would make more videos like this. You rock James!
