I like to tell folks that we learn from both good and bad experiences. In the case of a mentor or parent, a poor example tells us how we don’t want to be. This is why Kody’s kids have universally rejected his polygamous lifestyle. The boys don’t want to be like him and the girls don’t want a partner like him. All those kids raised by Christine adore her because she gave them her time and attention, even when her married life was horrible.

One upsetting factor that gets overlooked is the older children had a vastly different experience w/Kody...until Robyn joined the family. They were teens who watched as their father abandoned them, sadly while living next door in Vegas, and it's painful to miss someone who's literally in the same room as you. All the kids are hyper aware of how unequally he divided his time but the older kids had the carpet ripped right out from underneath them.
Ive been saying the same thing. Kody wasnt always this bad. If u go back and watch the earlier episodes u see he actually was a really good father so the older children did get a complete different version of Kody that Truely doesnt get but Im pretty sure every child that lives with Robin gets that version of him.

When I was 13 I lost my dad. It is a pain inside that I never got over. I am in my 50s and I still ache over that loss and I still cry. But you know what, this season of Sister Wives showed me something I never realized. Although it sucks that I only had my daddy for a short time I am not to be pitied. Pity Kody's kids, they supposedly have a father, but they have never had a daddy. I find his repeated rejection of Isabelle HEARTBREAKING. I am so sad for her. I feel this seething rage that Kody could so casually break this lovely young woman's heart. I keep remembering my dad holding my head when I threw up, helping change my bedding when I wet the bed when I was little, his was the first face I saw when I woke up from having my tonsils out. He had bought me a stuffed monkey because "monkey" was my nickname. I will never forget him saying "A monkey for my monkey". I still have that monkey. It is one of my most treasured possessions. Kody deserves to lose everything. If karma is real he should be homeless and friendless and without any support at all.

I agree completely! I've realized for some time that Kody doesn't even like Robyn's and his children. He tolerates them because Robyn trained them to fawn over him and he doesn't want Robyn to cut him off in the bedroom.

He commented one time regarding paying someone to babysit his children (or nanny for Robyn); it’s easier to pay someone $20.00 an hour to babysit for him than for him to lose $200.00 an hour at his job babysitting his own children. Very telling about his priorities.
I'm 54 years old. My father abandoned me and my sisters when he left my mother for another woman. This woman changed their phone multiple times, ripped up our letters, and told us he wasn't home whenever we managed to find him. Her son told us not to blame our father for the no contact, it was his mother's fault. Needless to say, it was his fault, he was the adult who chose to have no contact with his children. Fast forward, she passed away. He reached out to my older sister, they are both narcissists so that relationship fell apart. He reached out to my younger sister and have relationship to this day. He has never reached out to me. Not once. Never invited me to his home, never offered to come to my home to visit or meet my children/grandchildren. I told him off a few times for what he's done to my mother, i.e. never paid child support, while he made millions of dollars, told people she was the one who cheated, etc. and telling people that my mother denied him access to his children. Just for record, i did apologize to him multiple times over the years. My mother never once, not one time did she say one bad word about him. She figured we would figure it out for ourselves. I will always be grateful that she took the high road. Watching kody treat his children like sh*t breaks my heart. It's a very sad reminder of what happens when narcissists have children. They become angry and bitter when the children become the center of the mother's life. Which is what happened for Christine and Janelle. Kody is lashing out at them because the kids came first. I know that these kids are hurting, I also know that in the end, they are better off without him. They do not deserve the treatment they are receiving from their "father." I hope they understand that they have 2 great mom's who love them without conditions. I also hope that understand this not their fault. This is on kody and kody alone. It bothered me that Kody blamed Gabriel and Garrison for things and compared them to Robyn’s kids who he claimed respected him more because they stayed home during Covid. I thought he should have been proud of his sons who were working and going to school. Garrison even saved up enough that he recently bought a home! Those are young people who did not shut down during a difficult time. My son graduated from high school n 2020 and it was difficult for him to miss his last season of track and last part of school. We still encouraged him to get a job and go to school because we knew if he wasn’t busy he would struggle more. He took a job at the grocery store and he didn’t get Covid or bring it home. We managed to do bi-weekly family dinners with our married adult kids and grandkids which involved 4 households. If people felt sick or knew they had been exposed to Covid, they stayed home. Nobody got or passed Covid in our house. I think Kody is a very controlling person and he thinks absolute obedience is a sign of respect and love but being controlling is not loving at all. He completely misjudged everybody and mishandled everything. The proof is in the pudding which is the state of his family and all of the division. He’s a narcissist so he keeps trying to win people over but he’s so screwed up he just makes things worse and digs himself a bigger hole.

I missed out on a lot of our sons younger years due to major health issues and now that I’m doing better, our son just wants me to be at his activities, gifts and trips are fun but you are right, it’s our ‘presence’ our kids want more than anything. He’s student manager for his schools basketball team and he still wants me to come to games and hang out with him while he videos games, he says he likes it when I’m at his school/sports/activities so that’s what I’m doing. I know Kody has a lot of kids but that cannot be the excuse, he CHOSE this life

If you watch the old seasons Cooter loves the kids when they are babies and toddlers and then he's done. Kids aren't stupid. They see the truth, they know who is doing what. The older kids see how he treats their mothers. He is a sorry excuse of a man. I am a divorced mom. I have 3 daughters. I never spoke poorly of their father. I knew in time they would see the truth. They are now 29, 28 and 23 and have no contact with their father.
I heard someone that knows polygamous people comment that Kody is abnormal in his approach to how he parents his kids. Polygamous fathers usually leave the rearing of little kids up to their mothers and only take an interest in kids as they get old enough to teach skills to. As kids get older they get more attention from their dad. But Kody likes little kids because they see parents as being godlike, his narcissism feeds off the adoration little kids shower us with. Once a kid is old enough to see he has faults and to question him, he loses interest. Which is he exact opposite of what a good father does. Even among polygamists.

Why couldnt Meri offer Jenelle and savannah a place to stay short term. Mary has never offered her house up for anyone. I dont like her either

Alright I have to leave a second comment. James please write a parenting book! Your have a way of getting to the root of a problem, breaking it down, and offering clear solutions. It's rare my 13yr old daughter n I can watch a you tube video 2gether that isn't just something cute or funny. I'm glad she's actually listening to your perspectives and getting good advice for the future. Thank you for these videos James your helping a lot of people in different situations and everyone is benefiting for the better.

I agree completely! I've realized for some time that Kody doesn't even like Robyn's and his children. He tolerates them because Robyn trained them to fawn over him and he doesn't want Robyn to cut him off in the bedroom.

He commented one time regarding paying someone to babysit his children (or nanny for Robyn); it’s easier to pay someone $20.00 an hour to babysit for him than for him to lose $200.00 an hour at his job babysitting his own children. Very telling about his priorities.

I'm 54 years old. My father abandoned me and my sisters when he left my mother for another woman. This woman changed their phone multiple times, ripped up our letters, and told us he wasn't home whenever we managed to find him. Her son told us not to blame our father for the no contact, it was his mother's fault. Needless to say, it was his fault, he was the adult who chose to have no contact with his children. Fast forward, she passed away. He reached out to my older sister, they are both narcissists so that relationship fell apart. He reached out to my younger sister and have relationship to this day. He has never reached out to me. Not once. Never invited me to his home, never offered to come to my home to visit or meet my children/grandchildren. I told him off a few times for what he's done to my mother, i.e. never paid child support, while he made millions of dollars, told people she was the one who cheated, etc. and telling people that my mother denied him access to his children. Just for record, i did apologize to him multiple times over the years. My mother never once, not one time did she say one bad word about him. She figured we would figure it out for ourselves. I will always be grateful that she took the high road.
Watching kody treat his children like sh*t breaks my heart. It's a very sad reminder of what happens when narcissists have children. They become angry and bitter when the children become the center of the mother's life. Which is what happened for Christine and Janelle. Kody is lashing out at them because the kids came first. I know that these kids are hurting, I also know that in the end, they are better off without him. They do not deserve the treatment they are receiving from their "father." I hope they understand that they have 2 great mom's who love them without conditions. I also hope that understand this not their fault. This is on kody and kody alone. Narcissists are incapable of seeing their faults, they blame everyone else, as we've seen throughout the last few seasons. These kids deserve better. It took years for me to understand that nothing I did was going to get my father to love me. And that it's not now nor will it ever be my responsibility to make that happen. I've closed that door, I've forgiven, not for him but for me. I deserve to live in peace. I will not allow chaos of any kind into my life, regardless of who it is. I wish the Brown children all the love, happiness, peace, and joy in the world. They deserve it

James you are so right! My father left to another country when I was 8. I know he loved me in his own way but it means nothing to me. He died a month ago and I still feel nothing for him. I didn’t even cry.
Kody not only punishes his children because of his wives behavior but he also thinks that once his kids get to 18, especially his sons, they don't need him nor do they deserve his time and affection.
About 10 years ago, there was a lot of conversation around 18 year old boys who were excommunicated from polygamist Mormon communities to get them 'out of the way ' of the old men who were marrying the young women. They called these kids 'lost boys '. (This is different than the horror movie by the same name.)

I hope these kids all end up getting therapy. The abandonment, narcissism, and gaslighting by their father will follow them around into all their endeavors until they learn to recognize the complex PTSD that comes from an upbringing like that and heal from it.
In polygamy culture it is EXPECTED that the fathers will be mostly absent. That alone is why you can't ever convince me that this is a healthy and functional way of life. Nobody gets their needs met. Not even the fathers. And all over the teachings of a philanderer cult leader from the 1800s. Smdh

It bothered me that Kody blamed Gabriel and Garrison for things and compared them to Robyn’s kids who he claimed respected him more because they stayed home during Covid. I thought he should have been proud of his sons who were working and going to school. Garrison even saved up enough that he recently bought a home! Those are young people who did not shut down during a difficult time. My son graduated from high school n 2020 and it was difficult for him to miss his last season of track and last part of school. We still encouraged him to get a job and go to school because we knew if he wasn’t busy he would struggle more. He took a job at the grocery store and he didn’t get Covid or bring it home. We managed to do bi-weekly family dinners with our married adult kids and grandkids which involved 4 households. If people felt sick or knew they had been exposed to Covid, they stayed home. Nobody got or passed Covid in our house. I think Kody is a very controlling person and he thinks absolute obedience is a sign of respect and love but being controlling is not loving at all. He completely misjudged everybody and mishandled everything. The proof is in the pudding which is the state of his family and all of the division. He’s a narcissist so he keeps trying to win people over but he’s so screwed up he just makes things worse and digs himself a bigger hole.

This is the polygamist way. We read and hear about it all the time. In the traditional polygamy set up...the fathers kick out the young sons very early on. Why? The men do not want the competition. Granted w the Brown Clowns, the brothers wouldn't want to marry their sisters, half sisters even step sisters in this case...but Kodylocks has that mindset. he doesn't want the mothers to give any attention to the older boys...Kodylocks wants it all. He's so fearful of losing control of his little family unit...he can't stand the thought of sharing the moms attention w his sons. I do believe this is just one of many reasons why Kodylocks can't be nice to his own flesh and blood--his male children. It's going to be interesting how Kodylocks treats the little one-Saul I think is his name. Dayton gets a pass as he's Robyn's son...go figure. I missed out on a lot of our sons younger years due to major health issues and now that I’m doing better, our son just wants me to be at his activities, gifts and trips are fun but you are right, it’s our ‘presence’ our kids want more than anything. He’s student manager for his schools basketball team and he still wants me to come to games and hang out with him while he videos games, he says he likes it when I’m at his school/sports/activities so that’s what I’m doing. I know Kody has a lot of kids but that cannot be the excuse, he CHOSE this life

I was completely duped by Kody and Robyn over the years, but with all that’s come out recently I’m seeing the truth.
Robin always wants to be a fly on the wall. She keeps her own privacy in fear of others judging her the way she judges them. Sadly she has managed to even isolate her adult children. I know the polygamists defend their way but it has shown to be a sad way of life.

Can we take a moment to remember kody and Robyn’s 11 day honeymoon, leaving behind many small kids, some being kody’s some being Robyn’s, truly was only months old!! Hypocrite 🤬🤬
Kody is the typical "Disneyland Dad"...and once the kids get older and no longer worship him he feels "betrayed". But it is all on him since he built his relationships with them on a shaky foundation.
Christine said it breaks her heart that her kids will never know Cooter, know when he was a good man. Cooter only gives him time and presence to Sobbin's kids. I'm not sure how much time Sobbin gives her kids since she has a nanny and no job. Cooter didn't know how old Ysabel or Truely are. If you watch the old seasons Cooter loves the kids when they are babies and toddlers and then he's done. Kids aren't stupid. They see the truth, they know who is doing what. The older kids see how he treats their mothers. He is a sorry excuse of a man. I am a divorced mom. I have 3 daughters. I never spoke poorly of their father. I knew in time they would see the truth. They are now 29, 28 and 23 and have no contact with their father.
I heard someone that knows polygamous people comment that Kody is abnormal in his approach to how he parents his kids. Polygamous fathers usually leave the rearing of little kids up to their mothers and only take an interest in kids as they get old enough to teach skills to. As kids get older they get more attention from their dad. But Kody likes little kids because they see parents as being godlike, his narcissism feeds off the adoration little kids shower us with. Once a kid is old enough to see he has faults and to question him, he loses interest. Which is he exact opposite of what a good father does. Even among polygamists.
This is proof that love isn’t something he is capable of feeling. He doesn’t even realize that he has never felt it. You don’t fall out of love with your children. It’s impossible. People who have the worse relationship with their children, still love them. He talks about being a hopeless romantic when he met Meri. He fell for every woman he met. That’s because he couldn’t pin point what love is. Now he never was in love with them. He doesn’t love Robin either, he thinks he does. He just flies by the seat of his pants.
