- In TLC's Sister Wives, Kody & Robyn want to force the Brown family to turn their backs on Christine. Robyn has tried her first outing as enforcer and it did not go well at all. Meri is still heartbroken and holding out for a chance that Kody may give her a second chance so she'll do it. Fortunately, Janelle has remained true to herself and refuses to turn her back on her friend. In this video we will discuss how Christine is being shunned, why she's not effected by it, and why it won't work.
I love how Robyn and Kody say Christine has to jump thru hoops for a divorce. But then Kody says "I don't consider myself married to Meri anymore " and that's it?!?! No hoops? 🤣🤣

Kody’s “punishment” of refusing to bless them with his presence is precisely what showed Christine that her existence wasn’t dependent on his presence.

Meri thought she was the master manipulator, but got wildly outplayed by Robyn, who usurped all of Meri's power, and left Meri in shambles. Mery overplayed her hand - and now (like you said) Robyn chirps in Meri's ear.

Totally agree! This is the ONLY commentary channel I can watch and not get annoyed by the women commentators. This man gets it.
Robyn has played this as " the other woman" 101. Younger than his wives, hooking up with him on the sneak at first, positioning herself as a victim in need of rescue and dipping the sweet nothings she whispers in foolish Kody's ears in poison. She has alienated him from his family and made him look like a spineless jellyfish. I've watched the show for 10 years and, like most, liked him at first. He seemed to be a good father and trying to be a good enough husband. Over time, though, after he married her, he was less and less likeable. I wonder how appealing he would have been to Robyn without that TV show and money? No fool like an old fool for sure.
I guess younger is a relative term. Robyn is 6 yrs younger than Christine.

Really great angle to study from. You are correct...it was an attempted shunning..just one that backfired brilliantly. Christine's classy and calm behavior all throughout tells me that she had played all scenarios in her head beforehand and was prepared for anything. Her eye was on the ball and that ball is her driving off in a car towards her freedom and leaving all that mess far far in her rear view.

Please talk about Robyn's divorce. Her husband filed the papers. His cousin put out a statement saying they were both ordered by the court not to consume any alcoholic beverages around the kids. The reason Robyn had $32,000 in debt was because it was hers including a large Victoria Secret account. He kept his debt and she kept hers.

I can't believe how cold, selfish and cruel he is to his children. I'm so glad she found her empowerment, she looks beautiful from the glow it gives her. Janelle was the last person to hang around Christine to comfort her on the porch. I think she is watching this very carefully and hopefully making her escape plans. Do you think she'll leave too? I just saw a clip. Kody was blaming his lack of relationship with the adult children on Christine. Her going around talking about getting a divorce. Never mentioning the fact his Covid rules, how he truly felt about his children. Had everything to do with the relationship he has with them now. It’s uncomfortable I feel like if he wanted to have this conversation. It should’ve been between him and Christine the fact that he wanted Robin, Mari, and Jenelle there is unsettling.
Christine invited them over to tell them the house was for sale, but then it sold right away. Frankly, Robyn had no business sticking her nose in Christine's relationship with Kody. She has said all along that the wives don't talk to Kody about the other relationships and clearly that's a lie.

The kids said during covid that they would pick Christina over Kody. They had the choice of her for thanksgiving or kody and with zero hesitation they said Christine is their mom even when she didn’t give birth to them.
It’s scary to realize that these type of manipulative, malignant narcissistic people exist, let alone catch a glimpse of what they offer daily to their so called loved ones. It’s horrendous. The emotional and mental abuse that keeps a a victim locked up and living a certain role beneath their own humanity is just so evil. My stomach turns watching what Christine and I can only assume many more in that family went and go through. There should be legal grounds to call into that family and check their children’s mental health wellbeing. The fact that Christine raised healthy stable kids in that environment is a credit to her.
I think Christina also stayed the last 11 years, because she had a newborn, and many of her children under 18 years old.

Staying with the family was harder to leave financially, and staying meant more economical stability, with the income of the show.
Now only one 11 year old left, since Isbella is going to college and will be 18 soon, and all the rest even older.
James, I feel like the essential social/spiritual structures in Christine’s life were challenged in the past few years. I don’t feel like she knew what she was going to do every step of the way, but it’s profoundly important to me that the tool she used to find her way was Love. She has been good to the entire family’s children, she stayed strong and reasonable during moves from place to place, thru a pandemic, having to raise all the money and arrange for a child’s life-changing surgery, and deciding what to do with her loveless marriage. She relied on LOVE, stretching herself to give the best to others and finally filling her own heart with a clear sense of deserving love, too. That became her guidance and her nourishment, and it has become a radiance that surrounds her.

Uncle James, you offer such sage analysis. It totally makes sense that they need Christine to stick around for her punishment -- the way Meri has. This series is getting really disgusting. These women are being abused, financially, spiritually, and through neglect, by Kody and Robyn enables it. He also abuses his children through neglect.
I think the move to AZ was Robyn maneuvering Kody so that she could lay claim to half of everything he owns through the community property laws in AZ. She probably wrote Dayton's application to school in AZ as the excuse to get the family to move there.
Robin's family also lives in Arizona! She and Cody had it all planned. When Cody, Robin and one of the daughters took a short trip,way back, they looked at the property at coyote pass. It wasn't long after that Cody sprang the idea of buying it to the other 3 wives.
Kody been shunning his family for years It is just now Christine woke up and knew her self worth.

Great points! I like the psychological dives you take to the situations. You are right... she has to be around for the shunning to work. I think they are all surprised at the support she has because none of them, except Janelle, really paid attention to her needs and desires. She was always the one that put her stuff on the back burner for everyone else.
I think another part of this is trying to bully her into believing what they're saying is true. Christine does not. She won't be shunned because her desire to leave Kody and the church takes away the need for punishment. All she feels is empathy for them.

She stayed because of the kids. She expected help and support for Ysabel's medical and surgery but got absolutely nothing from him or Robyn. That was the major waking up for Christine, she went to NC alone. Kody would not even fly out for a few days before/after surgery. He had been using covid as an excuse to ignore the entire family. The only reason he keeps them is $$$

Free Will. Part of the enlightenment the show was supposed to present was that the wives were not hapless victims, rather they were willful participants. You make an excellent point, in saying the greatest demonstration of that choice would be Christine leaving.

The Browns haven’t been to their church since they moved to Las Vegas! At least when they were there, we saw them having “church” at home with Kody leading it. We haven’t seen or heard about a church service in years, so what church did Robyn want them to go to and ask for a divorce? She gets on my last nerve!

I’m so happy to see someone demonstrate the reasons Kody wants Christine to stay. The financial aspect and the potential loss of revenue from Christine is a huge factor in his reluctance to let her go. The power angle is definitely a factor. Unfortunately, narcissist are delusional regarding any failures on their side. He truly lacks the normal empathy one should feel in this situation. He CANNOT see his own hypocrisy, manipulation, shortcomings, and total lack of self awareness. Kody plays the victim not seeing that his behavior and lack of care for his wife and children have put him in this position. He really, really needs self reflection and the chance to see this whole family situation is his fault.

That’s on the money on why Robyn went to the property to talk about Christine. Also in a past season Christine says that Robyn helped her relationship with Kody. I think Robyn was like you better be nicer to her and act like you love and care about her. That’s probably how Robyn helped at one point. And they were in Vegas at the time so she was like wait I know you were good because I made sure he was nicer to you.

I think also that in Robyn's attempt to shun Christine she fails to realize that Christine leaving comes back in moments that mostly pretain to Christine not needing Kody because he's spending so much time with Robyn. She didn't care because she was shunned because Christine is 100% over Kody being awful to her,her children,her best friend,and her best friend's kids! There was nothing else left after that.

The only one of the adults that I feel deep injustice for is Christine. She was the one that was expected to pick up the burden and responsibilities that WERE NOT hers. Kody calls her entering the family a “blessing” because she had to used her magical warmth and care to diffuse the tension in the home between the other three which was not her job. She was the nanny, the educator, the cook. She was the cheerleader, comforter, and confidant. And if that wasn’t bad enough, after all of that, she had to go work at night, while PREGNANT! She did all of the real hearty lifting and the others took advantage whether they want to believe it or not. No one was ever required or expected to carry that family like she did. The only time that woman complained about the immense burden placed on her is when he started to court Robyn and he lost his mind and became a teenager in love. Christine started to panic when there is this woman that she knew nothing about is taking huge amounts of Kody’s time and he doesn’t seem to care. Her only consolation in all of that sacrifice was Kody’s admiration and affection. Once she saw Kody show up for Robyn and her kids in a way she didn’t know he was capable of, is when Christine finally wasn’t willing to be the agreeable “whatever you want” wife and in Kody’s world is was a betrayal for Christine to demand that he be fair when all he wanted to do is runway with Robyn despite the fact he had he a whole entire family besides her!
This continued when they moved to Las Vegas. Im cool with Janelle now but she really got on my nerves when she was in Vegas and she was so depressed and anxious about not finding work right away and having to be around her kids. Like, it’s something she was not used to-round the clock parenting. Christine poured her heart and so into that family and no one truly appreciated it except Janelle. It broke my heart when Christine was crying in her home at the end of S16 and she asked “What did I do that was so wrong that you wouldn’t help me?” And Kody’s response is that she was asking for more than the other wives got. It’s maddening that it was ok in that family for 10 year old Aspen to put her siblings to bed while a pregnant Christine is working at night while the rest of the adults sleep. This was abusive and it is a testament to Christine character that she stayed and persevered as long as she did. How tortuous is must have been for your selflessness and love in service of your family be ignored just because you voiced your needs? Christine was the best thing to happen to that family and the only ones who know it are the children, and she has a share in all of their success as human beings because of the love and patience she showered them with when the other adults weren’t around.
Thank you James you are so right Mary sticks around because Cody knew when he said he don't care if she leaves that she'd do the opposite and her money would still be there for him and Robin and I believe that Christine when she left she took her money with her like she should have. And when they were on the porch Robin didn't misunderstood anything she's used to Cody jumping on her bandwagon saying that she's right. And frankly I was shocked that he didn't. And make her feel yes you thought the other one would jump right in with her I agree with you completely

From what I’ve read and heard Christine has a lot, thousands of individuals cheering her on I guess that would be seen by Kody as the General Public, more people love her more than they even care about you Kody. I heard somewhere that Kody thinks he’s a God a God of crap I would say. There is nothing good about Kody or Robyn they deserve one another, watch I bet him and her are going to run and hide somewhere. I found it interesting when they explained their finances that they pool their money together. And how Janelle financed Robyns house with her money. I really believe Kody is upset about the money more than Christine leaving his worthless ass. He has been telling us he’s not been in love with her for decades.
