- This is My Take on TLC's Sister Wives star Kody Brown and his disfunctional relationship with his children. Once again Kody shows fathers how not to treat their kids. During a family phone call Kody asserts that its Ok to blow off his teenage children, at the same time he attempts to use his youngest child as a means to control Christine and keep her from leaving.
Kody don’t care for his children. Just cause you make a baby don’t make you a dad.

Amen. My son's poppa, stepped up to be the man in his life cause his father was busy. My family lives 8 hours away. Poppa stepped up and raised his father then grandson meanwhile not being biologically related to either. I couldn't have asked for a better man in my son's life

I think Robin's face says it all when Kody says older kids don't need their parents. My children are in their 30's and still need me and I need them.

I think Robyn is acting there. If she REALLY felt that older kids needed their father, she would have been more pro-active in seeing that Kody spent time with his olders.

Love your take, btw. Most of his critics in youtube commentary and various comment sections are women and he can dismiss them as bitter females. It's easy for Kody to ignore them. He'd have difficulty ignoring you because you are an intelligent father taking issue with his parenting. You're a breath of fresh air and Kody needs a lung full.

On the latest show Sobbin-Robyn was at the party for Ysabel, and whined that they were all having a great time - and she couldn’t understand why Christine wouldn’t want to stay in Flagstaff. But Christine noted that she had told all the adults she was leaving Kody two weeks ago, and no one had contacted her since then. Why on Earth would Christine want to stick around when she only gets a big family gathering a few times a year, but the rest of the time she’s ignored.
Robyn should have not brought it up and cast that shadow over the party. She should have talked to Christine about that at any other time
It's very telling when a man refers to his children as his wife's children when he speaks of them. He always says Jenelle's kids and Christine's kids. Not my children or our children.

He puts ALL of the burden of the relationship on his wives as well. Christine tells him he's leaving and his response is that he hopes she realizes life is worse outside the family. He doesn't do ANYTHING to woo her or try to rekindle their love or anything. Then he goes off on how Christine didn't ask him permission to leave or move or anything of the things she's doing. Kody doesn't own Christine! Why would she have to ask permission to leave him? Wtf?
Then he says he's implementing patriarchy on the other wives so that they will have to defer to him on EVERYTHING. Healthy Relationships don't work that way! They are a partnership where you figure things out together.

If you listen again, kody says he is GOING BACK to Patriarchy, but his original wives say he NEVER operated that way. In season 1, kody was proud that his wives kept him in line. That's the opposite of patriarchy.
I find it odd that as soon as Christine said she's leaving THEN he's worrying about Truly leaving yet he can't find ways to visit
He's more worried about having to pay child support and having court ordered visitations. Might take away from Robyn's precious brats.
They did not ask Breanna or Sol to not go to in person school - they told them to remain in online school- they don’t let those 5 kids think for themselves
Christine was upset because one more time Kody proved he didn’t care. That their children together didn’t matter to him.
He wasted Christine's life and robbed "her" children of the possibility of a good father figure.
Teenage kids DO need parents!

Teenagers tend to be more defiant. Kody can’t deal with that be too his narcissistic ego. Yes, teenagers are at times more difficult than little kids…but they still need you!!

I'm 46 , lost my Dad 3 months ago, it's been hard. We may be adults but we'll always be our parents kids. Kody doesn't seem to care about what he is missing.

I would say that most of his children won't want to see him as they get older. nothing to miss is there.
When Kody turned 18, his father kicked him out, and said figure it out. I don't know what kind of relationship they had, but it seems a bit harsh. So maybe that's why he treats his kids the same way. I think Kody lacks empathy.

This is an excellent point. Robyn is making out like a fat cat. For instance, In Coyote pass Kody has shared ownership on all the properties, because he and Robyn are married she also co-owns all the wives' properties. Even if you take that out of the equation, Robyn's name appears on 58% of the Coyote pass location. She is indeed the first wife.

I’m not sure why KODY couldn’t have scheduled Ysabel’s Covid appointment. He can’t blame Christine or Ysabel not making an appointment - he seems to forget he’s the FATHER of this girl, and he is just as able as Christine to book the appointment

He threatens taking fifty fifty of Truly, but can’t even schedule a covid test. Which would probably consist of him using his cell phone. So typical of that kind of man.
I am so surprised that no one I have heard has stated the most obvious: Kody could make the appointment himself.
I can't wait until this whole mess implodes, and Kooty and Sobbin are left with just each other, they deserve each other.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. I completely agree with you on giving anything to have just one more conversation with mine. We need our parents more when we're older because there are questions about actual life circumstances that go way beyond the basics of what we had for lunch, or how is school going. Kody seems to feel his parenting ends when it's easy, as with a younger child. We value what our parents have gone through when we go through those same things as young/older adults. That's when we need our parents the most. Anyone who still has living parents...please value them. There's nothing like losing a parent no matter what the age.

Ugh it hurts so much that Kody reminds me of my dad. He missed my wedding because he didn’t want to travel to my state for “just a party” and hasn’t been part of my adult life at all. I haven’t even spoken to him in over a year. He just plain doesn’t care, and watching Kody is like watching my life. Both were present during childhood and absent in teenage/adulthood.

Don't forget that Christine's oldest daughter wasn't in the home to help with Christine's kids bedtime because she was nannying for Robin!

Yes, my sons 38 and 26 still need me in their lives, just in different ways. Kody is just so into himself, he wants to ignore his children's needs.

It’s ABANDONMENT. Jody’s older children will need therapy to deal with Kody abandoning them. Their relationships will be messed up because of their father’s abandoning them. The girls will never fully trust the men in their lives.
I hope Kody regrets moving from the court in LV, every day. Think about how good the quarantine would have been for their family then? Kids would have had playmates, they all could have gotten together often. He's such a dummy. I loved the wives' faces when he said teenagers don't need their parents like the younger children do. He just as a preference for the people he can control, the young ones who don't recognize his real faults, as they get older they can see right through him, they rebel a bit, and somewhere in their 20's, they see you as human and accept that while you may have had faults hopefully, they know you always loved them, I don't think Kody's children can say they have always felt loved.
I lost my mom in college and I was devastated. It’s been truly difficult losing a parent in my 20’s. That was when my life truly started and I began to face real challenges and I needed her. Thank goodness those kids have they’re mom.
Also their daughter Truly was in the house and he didnt want to see her either 🤦♀️
And its even worse when the father choses not to come see mom anymore because hes not seeing the kids either.
He is soooo full of crap about visiting with Truly. He went months and months and months without seeing or talking to her. He is a disgrace!

I was thrown by Kody's issue with Izzy scheduling her own test. He sent Christine's eldest to be Robyn's nanny at 16 yrs old. Why not mask up, sanitize and visit. He says Truley engages him, it should be the other way around. He's so selfish. Hard to believe he had siblings. Even if older kids don't need you, you miss them and work hard to engage them and maintain a bond. He's so frustrating 😤.
James, you touched my heart. I lost my father when I was 22 yrs old. I am 52 now. I think about him every single day. He was an absentee father. I still love him and miss him. Cody's way of thinking about his children is obnoxious. All he cares about is himself. I really feel bad for his children.

Kody sees Truly as a ticket to heaven, not a living, breathing child to whom he needs to show love. She's like one of his possessions that Christine wants to take away. That's what is upsetting him. Kody hasn't valued Truly from the day she was born. Robyn was more important.

Whew! James you got MAD😂😂😂😂. At least I know I’m not the only one hollering at the tv. I can’t take it when the kids are being nurtured by Kody. It is especially important for girls to be physically present as much as possible. I just keep thinking that some of these girls are going to run off with the first boy that whispers in her ear. I believe Kody's problem with the older kids is that they don't treat him like a hero the way a small child does...which is totally normal for a teen. It hurts his ego so he chooses not to be around them and justifies it by saying they dont need him and/ or they arent showing him respect...and that is of course the mother's fault. He even complained last episode that when he is with Ysabel he has to coax her out. He needs his ego stroked and he seems to be getting that from Robyn's kids and credits Robyn for that.
I think Kody’s narcissism makes interacting with his young children more rewarding for HIM because kids tend to idolize parents when little. When his children become old enough to see him for who he really is it’s not fun anymore. Because in Kody’s world it’s all about…Kody 🙄
Kody doesn't understand that "making it convenient for him" is wife level accommodation not ex-wife level. He's lost that privilege. He has to do his half now.
Kody has favored Robin and her kids over his other wives and natural children from the time he met her. Kody is a selfish, self-centered egotistic jerk. He wants respect he says, but what he wants is to be “king” and everyone bowing to him. Without realizing it he has made the situation he’s in. He needs to stop whining. Kody is a sad excuse for a Dad. He couldn’t put his own pride down to be there for his Daughter Isabell but gladly went to marry his Friend and Dance with a bunch of strangers.
