- TLC's Sister Wives cast members, Meri & Robyn, have a meeting to try and manipulate each other. Clearly neither of these women like or trust one another. While Robyn is attempting to reconstruct the narrative behind Kody & Christine's divorce, Meri is trying to recruit Robyn's help so she can reconcile with Kody. It's entertaining to watch because, as viewers, we have already seen the truth, so for them to bold face lie to us, each other, and themselves is a spectacle to behold.

Heck yeah! Then she got in over her head with Sobbin- She lost her 1st wife marriage title, and today is totally tossed!
Meri is how she is with Robyn because that's how Janelle and Christine has to act with her while she was the favorite. In the book Robyn's first interaction with the entire family was at their house. Janelle was off picking up the older kids, a pregnant Christine was caring for all the younger kids, and Meri went to her room to give Robyn and Kody privacy. This is the dynamic Robyn saw and wanted. The favored wife having no responsibility but all the luxury as long as she did what she was told and everyone else was her henchmen to survive. She also saw the although Meri was the favorite her and Kody had problems and also that Kody was already overwhelmed. She saw that if she played her cards right she could be the last and favorite wife without having many kids and have 0 responsibility.
Robyn is how she is because Meri was the blueprint who showed Robyn it was possible.
Christine and Janelle are the only wives who entered their marriage with Kody having seen him in love with someone else so to say they aren't tough or built for it is stupid and insulting.
This is the first time Meri has EVER had to honestly compete for Kody
Meri has always been trying to recreate how she grew up in a polygamist family.. She was 1 of 27
she only had 1 child hence she brought Janelle into her home, Janelle has 6 children by Kody then once again Meri brought in another wife Christine who had 6 children also by Kody. I always thought that Meri introduced Robyn by telling Kody to dance with her but I am now under the impression
that when Robyn met them at her family members church she manipulated her way into the family. Her being a woman & mother you would think she would back off seeing that Christine was pregnant & who needed support at that time from her husband Kody.
Not Kody off courting himself with another potential wife where is driving 4hrs to see her.
I always felt that Meri did this through manic behaviour depression boredom and loneliness.
@@leannemclean9024 I really dislike how people make Meri and Kody's behavior about Robyn. Yeah Robyn was a jerk and did terrible things to that family but people forget there was almost 20 years and some before that where Meri was manipulative and Kody was an incensitive jerk. Robyn only could do what she did because Meri and Kody made terrible selfish decisions. Before Robyn was even a thought Meri was a demeaning and selfish first wife who happily played the head wife role. I don't care if Robyn manipulated her 20 years later or she has a complex from having only 1 biological child. She made the decision to further make the lives of 15 people hell to serve herself. Kody decided to make the lives of 20 people hell to serve himself. Robyn is a factor but a small one in the overall unhappiness that Janelle, Christine, and all the kids felt.
I really encourage people to read the book because they have been accidentally telling on themselves from the start. Meri has always been selfish and will throw anyone including her own daughter under the bus to get her life with Kody.
In the beginning Kody and Meri prioritized themselves and never stopped. Meri in a mad dash to have an ally decided to live up Robyn's ass instead of trying to genuinely fix the 15 years of mistreatment she did to the other wives and upon seeing them hurt because of Kody and Robyn she STILL decided her place with them was more important than the neglect of 16 people.
Meri doesn't give a shit about anyone but her place next to Kody.
She invalidated Leon's own knowledge of what went down with the catfishing experience to save her own face with Kody.
She gaslit her own child regard her infidelity so Kody wouldn't be mad at her.
I honestly don't understand how anyone feels like she is a victim and not the same kind of narcissistic abuser as Kody.
My theory is that Meri is staying because she realizes that her MLM success is based on her being on TV.
..and she's thirsty AF for any attention from Kody.

But, apparently Meri was scared of legal issues because of that. Hence she divorced Kody. Trying to exit the whole situation.

Here's how I see things. Meri was always jealous of Christine. Janelle and Kody had a more cerebral friendship, not a romance. Christine, on the other hand was bright and breezy, and churning out six kids, when Meri only had one viable pregnancy. Meri felt like she was losing her power position and introduced Robyn to Kody. By doing so, she deliberately hurt pregnant Christine. The new kid on the block, Robyn would be Meri's buddy (since Christine and Janelle didn't like Meri) but this backfired. Robyn became the power player. Meri, divorced Kody- not because she truly cared about Robyn or her kids. She did it to break free. By being legally bound to Kody, she wasn't free to troll the internet for a new man. Enter. "Sam", who she fantasized about. A more handsome, successful man who was smitten with Meri. She was ready to jump ship! Then, her fantasy came crumbling down. She was catfished- lied to- and had alienated Kody. Kody discovered her "affair" and lost all interest in her. His ego was wounded, and he had three other wives- so he didn't need Meri. Robyn, who was in an abusive marriage, was thrilled to have a man like Kody- who up until recently was fun, kind, and truly smitten with Robyn. Still- Robyn isn't happy. Her weight gain and frown lines indicate that she isn't happy. She now has to deal with Kody, a narcissist who has lost control of his flock. He is getting older, and feeling less potent. Narcissist hate the aging process and need a constant thrill. That's why Kody has four wives, 18 children, numerous homes, fancy two seater convertibles- and he gets to go on all the dates and trips, while the women have to wait their turn (or did). His life has collapased, because the wives don't need him financially. They too got big for their britches. Over the years- they went from a humble multifamily home- to mini-mansions. When before they had to band together- their incomes gave them sudden power. Power corrupts. I love Christine- and wish her well. She's the most likely to have it all. Janelle, I wonder sometimes if she is gay or asexual and if she's much bothered by Kody at all. I think she was more married to Christine. They functioned as a couple. Christine being the Mom and Janelle being the provider. It worked well, and that aspect of the show is nice. It goes to show- that two women can love and nurture each other. They aren't gay- they are just a power couple. The new show should be Janelle and Christine do Salt Lake!
I agree with you about everything, with the exception of Meri being married to Kody, and being first wife. I think it tore her up to lose that title, and even worse, give it to Robyn. With only one child, and not being legally married, Meri lost a ton of clout. It was the beginning of the end for her. Now, after being catfished Kody just tossed her aside. Meri had to watch Kody fall in love with Robyn, and now miss Christine's presence. How she has been humbled!

I don’t think Meri divorced Kody to break free. I think she did it because Kody basically told her to. Maybe not in those words but saying something like we need to protect Robyn’s kids from their Father and this is the best way.
Meri is still so in love with her husband that i don’t think she would ever voluntarily divorce him. It was the only thing she had going for her except for her daughter. She was the only legal wife … she had the golden ring. No, i don’t think it was a voluntary divorce.
Robyn actually has an IMDB page I think she was an extra on Just Shoot Me. Strikes me as odd that she has that acting credit and then mysteriously joined the brown family as their show began. Fishy fishy fishy!

After seeing what she's been up to dismantling Kody's other marriages, I could see her plottin' & planning just about anything. She is slippery like a snake 🐍.
Very suspect. Her courtship was locked in as soon as Kody mentioned there may be cameras present.
Now she gets half of what Kody has in his name. Best acting job Robyn ever landed. And yet, she didn't have to lift a finger. In the first season, Janelle is worried about Robyn and her kids putting more financial strain on the family. ROBYN agreed to getting a job ASAP.
Off topic, I know, but I LOVED "Just Shoot Me.". Great talent that worked so well as an ensemble. Thanks for reminding me about the show because it had slipped from memory. As far as Robyn goes, based on her obviously fake and tearless "crying", she isn't much of an actress.
My mom used to gossip to me about my sil and to my sil about me. She doesn't do that anymore. We discussed it and agreed to be a united front. We stand up for each other and won't tell each others business. You should have seen my mom's face the first time I told her to go ask my sil because it wasn't my business to share. I'm sure she still talks about me to other people but not to my sil.
This is a great way to approach it. It helps to keep all the relationships healthy. If you feel betrayed then you'll stop sharing parts of your life. When that happens, sooner or later and very slowly you will stop reaching out all together. This forces everyone involved to isolate themselves from needed resources of support.

I’ve watched this sh*tshow for twelve years, in hopes of figuring some logic in this mess. You have brought more clarity to me in a WEEK!
Why does Meri even need to confront Christine? And does Meri need Robyn? I say both Meri and Janelle should follow Christine's example and let Robyn have Kody all to herself.
And now we know, that’s exactly what Meri and Janelle did.
Robin knows that Meri's income pays the bills. Kody is in a delusion thinking that Meri's money is his money so he pays the bills. If Meri's goes. Kody and Robin are done financially. Robin knows this. That is why she is scheming.
Narcissists (Kody) don’t have loyalty to anyone. Robyn is his co-conspirator and enables Kody’s abuse of the other women/children. SHE told Kody that Christine said she was going to leave him…I was wondering who told Kody this information, however, it has backfired beautifully. Robyn did not expect Christine to leave, she wanted her to stay as Kody’s punching bag. Robyn admitted that her and Kody’s relationship is struggling, karma forgets no one…get her karma.

The veranda conversation was both infuriating and enlightening. Robyn openly coerces Meri to sacrifice her happiness for the 'greater good' aka Robyn's feeling of safety. I hope that Meri saw it too. Christine did tell Meri that she wanted out. Meri told her to 'look at the mountains' and forget about leaving or being happy. Robyn and Christine were never close so not good for a vulnerable conversation. Janelle was the right person for Christine to talk it out with. She was open to listening and being a sounding board. Meri is operating an a state of fear of change. Robyn in operating is a state of fear and will say or do anything to maintain her comfort zone.
Also, new this season is them talking about Christine behind her back, but on camera. I'm sure they always talked like that, but not on camera
Janelle is the only one with lots of common sense.
Meri is the one who introduced Sobbin to Cooter. Sobbin's friend Kendra is bffs with the person who catfished Meri. I think it's so funny that in one breath Sobbin tells Meri to hold on and fight with me and in the next breath says I wouldn't blame Meri if she gave up and left the family. The reason Mykelti and Sobbin are close is because Cooter had Mykelti move in with Sobbin prior to them marrying to watch her kids so that Cooter and Sobbin could "court". Sobbin is a thousand percent toxic her oldest son was named after her ex husband but when she got with Cooter she legally changed his name to Dayton.
"Sobbin" (LOL-love the nickname) is definitely one to watch.

You have got Robin pegged. She is one of those people who talks like she really cares about the other wives and children but in actuality she could care less. In less, of course, it adversely affects her. The whole Christine episode has backfired on her. Kody will have to take another wife in order to keep the show going. TLC knows we will all be on board to watch Robin get a heavy dose of karma!

Building what? Rebuild what? Most of the children are independent and have left home. Empty Nest is the next phase. Meri is an empty nest and free to travel. Christine has 1 at home and free to travel. Janelle has 1 at home and free to travel. Savannah will leave for college soon. Robyn has 3 adult kids who will leave home soon. She will have 2 pre-teens at home for the next several years. Robyn will be the last woman with kids at home. She has a nanny to help raise them. Empty nest is part of the healthy cycle of life.
It doesn't seem like Robyn's adult kids are going anywhere, though; I don't think she wants them to move out.

I’ve always felt Mari and Robin’s relationship is toxic. Mari places her friendship with Robin above her own needs. Mari was following all the strict guidelines during Covid. Kody had said she could come over see the kids Robbin then lied to her. Told her that was not an option, if that did not tell Mari exactly where she stood. I have no idea what would. Being in quarantine was hard for everyone, but to be alone during that time, knowing you could make it better for someone you decide not to just gross. To be clear, Mari has made her own choices but I did find this specific incident very telling.

My main disagreement with this is that Robyn is manipulating Meri into Meri not prioritizing herself. Lol Meri knows Kody doesn't want her around she isn't stupid. She is using her place next to Robyn to ensure Kody can't ditch her. With Robyn wanting her around Kody can't get rid of her.

Meri was digging at Kody a bit. Thankfully. Not all the way. Keeping herself protected. Seeing Robyn manipulate and her saying Christine wanted to leave in Vegas and Meri not knowing makes me think Robyn out that idea into Kody’s head, leaving Kody to alienate Christine and her kids from way back. She grew up in a more closed community so her manipulation would be off the charts. Kody is just back and forth with his I had no idea she was unhappy to I have been told for years she wanted to leave contradiction. Did she do the same to Kody about Meri?
I didn't like Robyn from the start. It was obvious from the beginning that she was a manipulator. For instance, when Christine was in labor, Robyn played smoochy-poochy with Kody. That was enough to tell me that she was a terrible person. This is a woman who had birthed three children herself. She knew what it was like to be in labor and need the support of a husband, but Robyn kept Kody away from Christine when Christine was at a very vulnerable point. I thought they weren't allowed to kiss until they were married. Instead, Robyn carried on with Kody like the town tart while trying to sell herself as the sweet, innocent girl next door.
I agree with your take. I look at Meri as someone who enjoys other’s suffering. I look at Robyn as someone who enjoys power over others and the suffering of others only proves she is blessed and they aren’t.

I've always felt just awful for the children.
The way to avoid these toxic people is to not engage in polygamy. Christine certainly needs to give a bonus to her therapist or a great review to the book she read that prepared her for all these interactions with these people to get out as cleanly as possible.

I noticed robins comment when she was talking about Christine staying in Flagg and dating, she said “I had to get used to the idea because of you” talking to meri about the catfish 😱. To me that shows that she encourages kody to NOT get back into an intimate relationship with meri.

I opened this video for 2 reasons. The first is my odd fascination with the train wreck that is Sister Wives and the second was the picture to the video. The neon colored outlines around Robyn and Meri reminded me of the muses in Xanadu...

Robyn outmaneuvered them all. First Christine as the caregiver for the kids when the other was away and worked. Robyn didn’t let Christine take care of her kids and Robyn didn’t want to work or take care of her own kids so she want a nanny. Then Robyn took the legal marriage and after that she took away the financial responsibility from Janelle because she thought the man should do that. So the roles the other wives had for 16 years was took away from them
When they talk about Christine not trying to make the marriage work, my mind flashes to Kody and Christine on the beach a few years ago trying to build a tower out of rocks for some sort of marriage counseling project. I’m pretty sure Kody made her cry. I believe it was during her birthday trip but I could be wrong. It might have been when Kody tricked Christine into driving to look at Flagstaff… ✌️😀
I do remember that. It was messed up. I thought even then how does this guy have 4 wives when he clearly doesn't understand 1.
I also vividly remember that trip. Christine was focused on their marriage and Cody kept taking things back to the "family". Their therapist was with them. I felt so bad for Christine.
Was this around the time the entire family took a trip and Christine was upset about Cootie's friend who Christine wanted an apology from, don't remember why, and Cootie kept belittling Christine and saying she owed him an apology? I don't recall a lot of details about the situation just how ugly Cootie was to her. I quit watching for some time afterward because I detest that moron. The next time I watched was when Christine and Cootie's daughter got married in the Scottish ceremony and Cootie kept acting like a fool in his kilt. Being of Scottish decent I found him a fool that owed a huge apology to anyone who ever wore a kilt.

Well Robyn is bestie with the catfish's friend, so if you get over the stuff you see on TV there is a deep dive, Robyn busted up Kody and Meri cause did she warn Meri, nope she had a hand in it, and Meri, is not in a right mind, and for the most past Meri just had to do what Kody tells her to do back in the day. What we see on TV is TV to say this and that is JUST AN OBSERVATION when in that life style women could not tell Kody whom to take as a wife of much of anything
I wonder if the reason Robyn's first husband never took more wives was because he saw Robyn's toxic behavior and wouldn't subject another wife to that knowing it would be a recipe for disaster.
That and they were struggling financially.

Merri brought Robyn into the family by being deceiving to Christine and Janelle she made her bed she needs to lye in it. Robyn is sneaky Kody has put her on a pedestal I hope Kody and Robyn crumbles and both of them realize the arrow of their waves and humble themselves they should apologize to the other wives. Janelle needs to leave Kody and demand that he start showing up as a father.for all of his kids not just Robyn kids. Christine should demand for Kody to show up as their kids father. Kody seems so heartless cold and uncaring it’s so sad
