She has become so low energy with a permanent beaker face frown. .Wonder if the weight of being with Kody and his energy now is taking it's well deserved toll on her ?
Kody loved leaving that chaos to drive 5 hours to go get in Robyns bed. Robyn claimed it would be inappropriate to visit their home because Kody was married. But nobody raised the question: Isn't it just as inappropriate for him to come spend the weekend alone in your home? By the time Kody gets there, her kids are in bed. So what kind of bonding was Kody doing after dark 🤔
YES! YES and again YES! Robyn's experience of "growing up in polygamy" was NOTHING like the family she was planning to join. And she and her kids absolutely should have been travelling to the Brown's at least 50% of the time so that everybody got a real taste of what life would be like with an additional wife/Mom and 3 more kids.
11:11 but see, that's the thing; Robin was *supposed* to be joining into an established system. Instead, she came in and changed a ton of it. She didn't have to play by the same rules that the other women had been doing faithfully for YEARS; she had nannies, didn't have to work, and most importantly she always had Kody's support and attention. She didn't mold to fit into their long established system; she came in and made her own.
She will get hers one day... how dare she come into a family that was thriving and doing fine. The family was never the same and neither was Kody...that witch put a spell on the entire family
I think Christine has always been the problem wife for Kody. Because of the way she has always tried to express her feelings and the way Kody calls her demanding. The others seem to bit more passive Janelle was always so easy going. Meri just wants him to love her! that she didn't want to Rock the boat much. And robin is very manipulating without him knowing she is. Christine has always been an outspoken. And he doesn't like that in a woman.
I just love your insight into this family. In hindsight see the selfish motivation on Meri's part. I think that she was always jealous of the close relationship that Christine and Janell shared.
Janelle left him about 3 times before he married Robyn. I vote Janelle was more of an problem. Christine comes off in the early seasons as more emotional but when you see how Kody talks to her I think he found it easy to manipulate her and confuse her. By asking if that makes sense and such when he explains how things really are. I think all the wives were susceptible to that tactic to stay in the marriage. Most people don't grow up knowing how to deal with narcissistic people.
Watching the earlier episodes really is eye opening when you see the end result. You catch all the subtle nuances we probably all missed when watching the original airing in 2010. The issue here is from the beginning Christine was not down with the whole Robyn thing and yes, I think you’re spot on. Meri used Robyn as a revenge for not being close to Janelle and Christine. The real reason for the chasm has been eluded to but no one has had the balls to actually tell us why the alienation happened on such an epic proportion. Meri wanted a sister wife relationship but she’s continued to treat people badly and difficult to be around. Robyn was always exempt from the rules the others played by. She was entitled from the beginning. Let’s face it. She used to be attractive and thin. Sorry girls, but some men do treat skinny women better than heavier women. He was not attracted to the other 3. They let themselves go. It happens. Time. Kids. It happens. Nothing wrong with it and if a man really loves a woman, he doesn’t let anything physical appearance wise keep him from seeing the gal he married. Kody admits with the nachos and like incidents that he spoke of, he never was attracted to these ladies. They were tools to his ultimate goal. Robyn’s fake “I don’t want to hurt anybody” BS was so clear from the start. Yes. Robyn behaves differently than her verb. She didn’t give a hoot about the other women or their kids. She was selfish then and selfish now. She hasn’t changed much in 13 years. The only difference now is that her words match her behaviors. Interesting observations in this video. Keep them coming.
When they were at the restaurant eating chocolate marshmallows or whatever it was, you commented that seemed like something teenagers would do. Well, imo, just remember that the cameras were there filming this date. Now imagine there are no cameras filming them. In my minds eye, I can see them all over each other, saying sexy things, kissing and groping each other. Maybe more. Like that old saying about no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. Kody is sneaky as heck and Robyn had an agenda from the get go to get her man hook, line and sinker.
Yeah robyns mom was basically a mistress, and they called it polygamy to paint a pretty picture. That’s why Robyn wanted to make sure she got to be wife #1, so she and her kids would have priority, but she never intended to intertwine her family with the larger group because that’s not her experience. She wants all the benefits without the work because as a mistress, her mom never had to make nice with the wife. But she also had to wait weeks to have Robyn’s stepdad celebrate holidays, etc
Well, he knew she wasn’t happy, they had counseling a few times; but he thought she would hang on in misery, pretending they had a worthwhile marriage. She would be MERI 2.0. He thought Christine was so in love ‘with him’, that she would never leave.😮😢😂
What you remember about Robyn’s upbringing is right. Her mom was the second wife and lived in a separate state from the first. What Robyn saw on a daily was monogamy and separate families. Not one big unit like Brown’s were when she met them.
And Robyn put herself between Kody and her sister and got pregnant. She crushed her own sister And now she calls him a deadbeat dad? She’s really a horrible woman
I agree that meri almost definitely pushed robyn in order to have that connection with kody, but i also think it was meri resenting that both janelle and christine had disconnected with meri as well and had a closer relationship between the two of them….she not only wanted to make kody happy, but also (IMO) wanted to stick it to her existing sister wives, both by bringing in a new wife for kody to favor, but also brining in a new sister wife, who meri would be closest too…meri has tried to keep that close relationship with robyn going, but at some point, robyn got what she needed from meri and it appears she turned her back on her…
Robin's childhood was basically the same as any kid whose dad has a second family somewhere and the wife basically just deals with it. Nothing polygamist about that
It's crazy to watch this now, they seemed like such adults back them but I just realized Christine is about my age here. Even now I live a very different life, I don't have kids and have bad baby face so people assume I'm younger and treat me as such. But I remember watching this thinking even Robyn was like 'older' lol. But honestly it gives me hope. I've been putting my life together, figuring out my work, my trauma, my own home, therapy etc. Sometimes I feel really behind in my life. But look at Christine- happily starting over!! Finding love, her home, her career, being a great mom etc. And she looks AMAZING!! Same with Janelle, they both had major glow-ups after losing 200lbs of manchild lol. They can do it 20 years on and look gorgeous AF. If they can I can. It just makes me so happy for them and hopeful for the future at the same time. Loves it!!!
Yes, Robyn's mom was the 2nd wife in her new polygamous marriage. Their family lived in a different state than the first wife. Robyn's mom & family were 'out of sight-out of mind' as far as the 1st wife was concerned. Robyn's mom was more like the 'business trip wife'.
I always think it's amusing looking back that Robyn was like 'the other wives made him a better man!' Then what does that say about you Robyn? What did you make Kody to be after stepping into his life... worse! I think that alone says a lot about her as a person
These are really good reviews of the old episodes I'm excited for many more. You are correct, there were many things we the viewers never picked up on in the earlier episodes Robyn certainly got the easier ride out of all the wives I'd be happy if they just did a show with Meri, Janelle and Christine the ex sister wives
Ms. Expert on polygamy NEVER lived it. I don't see how she grew up as polygamous. Her dad/step dad whatever... had two very separate families. There was no one big family, they didn't socialize together and she said he missed holidays and events because he was with the first wife and THAT family. Um that is a main family and a side chick with kids....not polygamy.
What kody said over and over about the normal hard feelings his OG wives had re his courting and marriage of robyn was that this is why they are in polygamy, to overcome normal feelings of jealousy, makes you closer to GOD to overcome normal human emotions…etc…however he ultimately FAILED in the same task when he allowed his feelings of favoritism to DESTROY his family…he did not even try to do his part, by treating every wife the same and NOT allowing one manipulative woman to dictate the terms for the rest of the family because he preferred her terms, and her in general. Kody literally made polygamy look terrible, and if there are families out there, living this way successfully, they are probably disgusted that this showboating, arrogant and selfish man is who was chosen to represent their lifestyle. He BLEW IT
When Kody was going alone I bet Robyn put her kids at her moms for the weekend. Told them a lie. That way she and Kody could get to know each other better..wink wink.
I think they might be buying onesies because there's a gap since the last baby and either the clothes are worn out from so many babies or perhaps they got rid of what they had if they weren't planning on any more babies.
The truth is there was no real “spiritual” reasoning for Robyn joining this family. It was for selfish reasons on Meri’s part, on Kody’s part and on Robyn’s part. Poor Christine and Janelle were railroaded victims who had to sit back and watch this train wreck happen.
It’s odd that they made a big deal about “being so chaste” before getting married…..but he’s spending nights with Robyn as a girlfriend. He brought a wife and kids….until he didn’t. So.
Good on Christine for leaving first. She's the most attractive IMO & she finally saw her self worth. Now she's extremely happy in a new relationship that she deserves, someone to love her, not a husband writing in a book that he wasn't attracted to her when they married and he thought she was a pig! Wth!
Kody let down his wives right away. He used his kids to babysit. Robyn came in taking and never giving. Robyn have to have this special attention. Merri was so dumb about Robyn. Christine is pretending when she say it needed to happen.
I have watched an awfully lot of videos but never one as good as this. I'm definitely ringing the bell and hoping I don't miss any. Thank you for sharing this with us. A new fan.
So happy to see the video back up so I can watch the rest now! I love your content. It's one thing for anyone out there to give generic commentary about the show, but you provide something unique as someone who studied psychology to help explain why these people act or react the way they do. Your voice is so calming, too. You would do great in ASMR, and I mean that as the highest compliment! Happy Valentine's Day, RR! ❤
YES! Kody saying that about Mykelti getting married fast was about him. Also when Maddie was looking into joining the LDS Kody thought she was joining for a boy. 🤨🤔 Kind of like he says Meri was the bait for him joining the AUB?
Robyn’s mom never had any rights as the second, illegitimate, “secret” wife & she could never claim her father in public so Robyn made sure that she legally married Kody
I don’t believe any of what Meri said about how Robyn came into the family I think Kody picked her out long before any of the wives knew about her. They used Meri by making her think it was all her idea. Meri would have done anything to make Kody love her again. I think Meri had an affair before the show aired and that’s why her and Kody were having so much marital strife.
@jobee1 I think exactly what you do!! I think maybe Kody had met Robyn previous and lead Meri to believe otherwise. However I don't believe Meri cheated on Cody prior. I do think maybe Cody or Robyn set up Meri with the catfish situation.
I have to say that the prospect of going back and rewatching the entire 17 seasons hit a new level of procrastination from me--that is until you started taking that journey with us with all your insight and even a tinge of your good ole snark! So thank you for letting me take this most insightful journey with you. I have fairly been accused of having my post ‘TLTR’ (too long to read)…. I try my best to tamp that down. So far not so much luck. Your insight is so right on. I 100% agree that it should have been Robyn making the 10 hour round trip. Chivalry…I think his chivalry should of been to his 3 wives and his brood of kids. It seems to me if Robyn wanted to join this family that she would have been sensitive enough to the family needs…but season 17 kinda puts her 16 season of performance art of being the one never wanting to upset her sister wives as IMO FRADULENT! (Home run on that call Heather)! Being present in the Brown’s hometown, their home and the daily random yet cute chaos that goes with their ever expanding family dynamics during her and Kody courting would have been the only way to accurately gather insight by both Robyn and the Brown family- it would have absolutely been the best view to simulate life as it would be once they married! I firmly believe that having her come spend time both with Kody but also and more importantly his very large current family and understand, acknowledge and agree to commit to living and experiencing those parameters set by their commitment to polygamy when courting Kody and the entire family ……as the Brown’s currently existed as one unit?! Plus at a certain point into courting……bringing in Robyn’s kids for them to form their own individual and group relationships to get them acclimated to this new life before them! I am interested in how the introduction to Robyn by Kody and Mari has 2 different story line. The one written by Meri in the book and the one that they were to be at a party…Meri and Kody….and rumors were gaining traction that TLC was going to follow the Brown family in the new TV show ‘Sister wives’! At the point that this was happening and was becoming a reality that by then was known by most in their community. I can say that my perspective of Robyn’s making sure to get an invite to that gathering …..was instigated and put into motion by Robyn who had her 50k plus debt and a solution to get out from under her financial crunch was within reach. The fact that she was so conniving and had such reckless disregard along with a huge ego believing her culpability would be won over by believing Kody’s had a taste/desire to marry her that he would not want to live a life without Robyn being in it! It’s as if she was so confident in Kody’s deep attraction and yes, lust guaranteed she had him hooked, lined , and sinker. Plus it was both of them breaking the rules. At this, point she was so confident of her claws being stuck deeply in Kody that she was more than willing to gamble on her impending victory of marriage and headed to soon being ‘debt free’!!!! In fact, she was so super confident that not once did she think she was putting it all at risk of blowing the whole thing apart!!!!! It seems her ego tells us everything about her lack of respect for kody’s 3 wives, Meri, Janelle and Christine and how little -if at all her- she feared breaking the sacred rules of courtship with Kody. Now allowing the viewer’s in retrospect to truly understand how from the beginning Robyn assumed the role of being queen of manipulation and gaslighting, I see it so clearly now at the confidence nothing would stop her going for all the benefits being with Kody and what his wives big earning capacity would mean to having her debt paid off. I remember all the ‘sacred’ acts she freely broke with Kody. She knew the rules. She knew she was courting a married polygamist that came with sacred rules…no kissing, no physical contact..even hand holding. They were both aware of the trusted rules they both freely broke. Add to that the wedding dress being picked out by Kody after Robyn makes her big theatrical performance of it being a good way to bond with the 3 wives. When the fact that rules were broken came out…it wasn’t that Robyn felt bad for doing those things…she only felt bad that Kody self reported and confessed them to his 3 wives. She KNEW if they found out they would be understandably upset and ticked off. Trust had been broken numerous times with no consequences that she was capable of feeling. From the beginning Robyn (or Kody) didn’t mind breaking rules that honored the current Brown’s family and traditions. Am I the only one who wonders how many rules she willingly broke. It’s not such a stretch when put in to context that Christine is in labor and Kody goal is to get to be with Robyn for that kiss. Think it stopped there? I’m not so sure!!! One last point. When she brought up once that now she was living in Utah and still courting, that she felt she should have every 4th night with him!before the spiritual wedding. I would bet that she believed Meri would back her and she would win that ridiculous concession! To me very eye opening as she used I’m way behind on getting to know Kody the way the 3 then wives knew him!!!! The fact that she brought that up…appearing to think she was going to get this too…is telling. It had worked on extended by a lot the honeymoon. Yes, she said it was important having that long honeymoon as the others had years and years to know him. Isn’t that what she agreed to marry into. What exactly did she learn over the protracted honeymoon that getting into the family routine would have been better to provide/understand the things she ‘needed’ to know about him sure…but she wasn’t just marrying Kody….she agreed to the whole package he came with! I think the 3 wives got tricked into believing it was necessary. It to me…the courtship, etc wasn’t authentic as a fourth wife joining the family as it existed by taking serious the rituals and rules of courting. Easy now to see her conniving ways and that only Meri was snookered. Janelle and her wisdom in putting attention on the family and where it should be by questioning where the needed funds would come from to accommodate not just the additional daily living expenses for Robyn and 3 kids, but her paying off her debt. Shame on Kody for him ‘falling head over heels’ with Robyn and not being able to see the deference he gave her as wrong and completely unfair to his existing wives and kids. A spiritual man would seek guidance and wisdom on how if necessary to be discrete and not flaunting it in front of 3 wives. I’d like to hear how Robyn turned his lust filled attraction down…..oh wait that didn’t happen when courting and even more with marriage. Kody’s polygamy was spiritually based…or so he said…..how easy is it to be horny….desiring truly only Robyn to be a man of faith and stop what he and Robyn both knew was crossing the line from God giving him a calling to marry Robyn….we have only the word of a man who consistently wrestles and lost in holding himself accountable under the spiritual laws he is sworn to follow, not to mention his conflict with the truth. I know “TLTR’. I will keep trying. …
LOL - TLTR. It just means you're passionate. RE: Meeting Robyn. I agree, it's fishy. Re: Honeymoon - Rewatching that episode is going to make me so mad!
@@realityrecapped it will be a daunting feat!!!!! Maybe carb loading like runners do leading up to the day of marathon, 10k, half a marathon….will help us endure. The advantage….’she will not fool us this time’, I said with finger crossing confidence!!!! And we have each other this time! :-)!!!
i love your videos!! for copyright I know movie/TV reaction RUclipsrs have methods of getting around claims, including covering part of the image with another image (usually their video in the corner) or they will zoom in and out
I have have a hard time believing anything that Kody, Meri or Robyn says 🤔 they've all been caught telling lies on camera so 🤔. I felt bad for Christine and Janelle but not anymore because they are free from all those toxic people!
Funny how the two conniving wives Meri and Robin ended and how Janelle and Christine are living their best life. Goes to show you the honest girls won. Meri and Robin look foolish nd not liked.
Just started following I’m really enjoying ur videos so far ❤ I think Robyn is very manipulative and selfish and Kody is extremely selfish poor Christine she’s pregnant getting no emotional support from Kody ugh what a gong show !!
I can't wait to hear your analysis and opinions in rewatching all the episodes. I have been rewatching all the episodes and seasons It is almost like watching it With a brand new set of eyeballs Literally ! I may as well have been a blind person listening to the lies over the last 17 sisters.
I honestly believe if Kody didn’t have those looks as a young man and not elevated by the community as a new convert, they first three would not have chosen him as a mate. He’s never held a steady job (that we know of) and has always relied on his wives to provide the majority of the income. He moved Janelle into Meri’s house but somehow only realized that was intrusive to Janelle but not his inability to provide separate lodgings. He says in the book that he had no way of financially supporting Robyn and her kids but somehow God would make a way because of his and the other wives’ “testimony” about her being special and destined to join the family. I can’t help feeling that it was the wives holding on because of the kids that these marriages did not end earlier. I also believe that all of the wives had some level of low self-esteem that he may or may not have exploited to keep them compliant.
I notice you cut out Robyn saying “Oh my heck!!”. 🙄🤢THANK YOU!!!!! I kept watching thinking “Uh! Here it comes, I’m going to have to hear Robyn say it again, all sticky sweet, innocent, and stupid”. But I didn’t! I would have liked her so much more if she had just said “holy sh*t Kody, that string ring is awesome!!”.
Kody's going to see Robyn for a WEEKEND visit?? Meri and Christine did NOT want Robyn and Kody to court. Why did he continue? Then he said they needed to suffer and get over it. Well he sure wasn't suffering any. He was skipping off like a teenager. One of the other sites said Kody 'thrives in chaos'. I think this explains a lot about why this family did not thrive. Great things happened to them, but then, along came Kody and blew it all up! He blew it up (maybe in Montana, before the show), in Utah, jumping at shadows, he blew it up in Las Vegas, and he is in the process of losing it all in Arizona. He will do it again, and again, I believe, because he just doesn't like boring.
This was SO dishonest of the three of them! THEN AND THERE...I WOULD HAVE SAID: "NO WAY...NOT THIS PERSON BECAUSE OF THE SNEAKY ENTRY., I CAN'T TRUST HER!" BOTH Janelle and Christine should have called it! All of them should have had every warning buzzer going!!
I agree. Any self-respecting woman would have said, "not only no, but hell no!" But this just shows how little power the women really have. The women talk about a marriage not happening if they vote against it but that isn't really the truth. They are coerced, ridiculed, and harassed until they give in. If that doesn't work, Kody starts bawling like a baby until Christine changes her mind! So manipulative!
I don’t think he would have listened. Remember per Kody polygamy rules….there must be unanimous concentration from all 4 equally to decide to date, marry Robyn. Christine never got to vote…so even then Kody’s stated rules of all 4 must say yes was ignored to favor Robyn. Goodness, I vomited a little bit in my mouth typing that!
I think Christine and Janelle did but only Christine was what was considered outspoken about it. And watching it again, how muted it is! After Robyn’s marriage Christine remarked something to the effect of “I was unaware a wife could openly disagree with Kody and it would be tolerated.”
I just posted a new episode (S1E3) where he has the girls plan a birthday party and the whole family helps Robyn move. He has no shame. Neither does Robyn.
I agree that the way Robyn came into the family was unbalanced from the start. And the women went out of their way to accommodate her. Something she didn't do in return at all. But I've been thinking... is Christine a little selfish? I'm sure Meri & Janelle had to deal with jealously when she came into the family. But Christine wants doesn't want to experience that. Like you mentioned, she married Kody while Janelle was pregnant too. I haven't read their book yet but I'd like to know more about how Christine coming into the family affected Meri & Janelle.
Have you touched on why meri had to divorce him so Robyn can marry him so her kids “don’t get taken away” I would love to hear your thoughts. I think they played meri with that story.😅
I haven't gotten to the divorce episode, but in my last rewind recap, Season 2 E6, Robyn plants the divorce seed. I am going through and recapping the past episodes when the show isn't airing.
I would be curious to see your reaction to the other polygamous family from TLC called my 5 wives and comparing them to the Browns. That family was from the same polygamous group as the Browns, but at the time that they started filming they had left the polygamous group and the spiritual beliefs that demand polygamy.
I'll think about that. At the very least it would be interesting to compare/contrast the treatment of the wives. The husband on the other show appeared to be a much better husband than Kody.
Christine said trophy wife because she knew Robyn wasn't going to be working like the other 3 did, she wasn't putting the others down though. Janelle evensaid at one point that she didn't like that Kody said Robyn wasn't going to be working and bringing nothing to the marriage. Essentially a trophy wife lol.
They created this act from the very beginning! The only reason they were upset about Christine then Janelle leaving is because of the money those women brought to them, as well he is so upset because if the wives leave there won’t be any more show, and that plus his gun business is his income ! How will they pay for the mansion, they better get some more wives ! But that will mean Erobin has to divorce Kody because they will only get a wife from a foreign country as American women has seen the show and want no part of Kody and Robin! To get a wife from Mexico or somewhere else you have to legally marry them Kody, that’s probably why the recent one from Mexico didn’t work, cause Robin doesn’t want to divorce Kody!
Again it is Mary's fault that Robin came into the family because she really didn't get along with the other two and she was lonely she thought bringing Robin into the family she would have a friend but boy did it backfire on her
I think that Robyn is a very transactional, superficial person. She wants attention, fame and to be favored but she's not the "pretty girl" so she puts a lot of value on her having a tall, thin body. She very often makes comments about the other wive's weight, about how much they eat and about how she doesn't eat much, saying that they should design "plus size clothing" she always seems to find a way to bring their weight and them being overweight into conversations. I've felt the exact same way about Robyn, that she just speaks without having real emotions. If it's not happening to her or she can't make it about her in some way, she's very flat with her emotions. I think they fell more "in lust" rather than "in love" they were DEFINITELY banging before marriage, no way he was driving 5 hours without getting some and Robyn didn't make Preston wait until marriage, why would she make Kody!? That's why Kody had to drive far away so they could get away from the other wives to bang. When Kody didn't bring his teenagers to babysit I guarantee that Robyn's family had those kids. The brainwashing and forcing her kids to make Kody be their dad is again, sooooo gross. A dad isn't whoever your mom is with!
I think we now know that there are quite a few lies in that Book. No wonder, since it was a PR Book put out by TLC. Especially how Robyn and Kody met, and why. Reva (Robyn's Aunt) told Robyn about the Brown's and the Show...then gave Robyn gas money to drive up to The Brown's Church, and to The Dance. Christine knew about Robyn, since Robyn's ex is the son of Christine's Mother's Brother, and we now know that Christine knew about what happened in Robyn's first marriage...which I'm sure is why Christine was not happy about it. Also...Meri was not happy about it. She actually said so in one of the Couch Confessionals, even saying that she didn't know if she was going to stay. This was also why she asked Kody how he would feel if she were to see another man. GOD only knows what else happened, considering that Kody had his Wedding Ring from Meri melted after marrying Robyn. Then Robyn starts bringing up how her kids could choose to move back to their bio father if they weren't happy...every time the kids squabbled. Interesting how this happened after Merii started to cry, while talking about how her sister just passed from cancer, and her Sisterwives are raising her kids like their own...and Meri knows her daughter would be taken care of if anything happened to her. That Book is full of lies.
Kody never fails to irritate the crap outta me: "I'm packing. I'm gonna go see Robyn. Are you going to help me or just stand there and be a princess? *giggle* " 🤦🏼♀️ He thinks he's so cute and has always thought of himself as a gift to women. 🤢🤮 Kody acted as though Christine never made her feelings or concerns clear, yet we see that she does from the beginning. But that's what narcissists do, right? I understand what it's like to eventually lose your voice along the way and feel it's easier to just be silent in order to avoid conflict. It often goes nowhere anyway, or the blame is shifted onto you if you do speak up. It takes a lot of energy to keep trying to be heard. I'm very surprised Christine found her voice again and doubled down while still in the relationship. It's hard enough to find your voice even after you've had enough distance from someone who is narcissistic. When you discussed Gabe and the other children tending to their dad's needs, I can relate to that with both of my parents for different reasons. With my dad, it was to keep the peace and in hope that I might actually get him to like me or even dislike me less. With my mom, it was because of her mental illness and me feeling like it was my job to help keep her alive. Plus, I was a buffer between my dad and my mom- my mom's protector in many ways but also someone who I felt I had to "win over" or not upset in one way or another. My mom has since passed, but I still find it difficult at 40 to easily fall back into the role of wanting acceptance or not wanting to disappoint my dad. It's so frustrating. I've tried to grieve the loss of what I never had with him in the first place, but it's still a struggle even with distance. Maybe that's why I've never been a fan of Kody...
Those old family roles are hard to break, be patient with yourself. I'm also very impressed by Christine, staying vocal and vulnerable takes courage. I'm glad she decided to leave and start a new life.
@@realityrecapped I really don't know how Christine stayed so strong when Kody was grasping with every tactic he had in his toolbox to try to get her to give into his manipulative games. I'm incredibly proud of her, and I hope that she can give herself so much credit for being able to sit with everything he was throwing her way while still remaining calm and seemingly collected. I imagine the fact that Kody wasn't able to get a rise out of her ticked him off like crazy. It took so much strength on her part.
@@realityrecapped Thank you for the kind words. I'll try to be patient with myself. Thank goodness I have a therapist who has given me more emotional support than my parents combined.
Robyn said she saw how Kody was a better person because of Meri, Janelle and Christine can we follow that same logic and say Kody slowly became a horrible person after Robyn arrived? Meaning she rubbed off on him...Not absolving Kody’s part played in it by allowing this to happen. Whoops...I didn’t listen long enough as you did address this shortly after I commented 🤷🏻♀️
I remember watching this show when they first aired. I felt so bad for Christine being pregnant and her husband dating. I also thought Christine was the troubled whiny wife then. I stopped watching around season 3. So all the new drama is seriously a whirlwind change. Wow wow wow!
I think I know where Kody got that disgusting panting thing he did in the tell-all! During the Honeymoon Special at the end of season one, at one point Robyn said something to the affect of “one of the biggest things that attracted me to Kody was his love for his wives, and the fact that he saw value in each one of these girls… for their strengths and their weaknesses was like… I just drooled.” Kody associated that with Robyn panting over him like a dog drooling over a steak. And in that moment his head grew a little bigger. What an a-hole!!
Robyn being the head wife over new wives would be hell for them! Sorry, but any woman getting involved with Kody now has got to be nuts or has never touched a computer!
What a lot of people don't realize is most families like this are not anything like the show. The wives are treated like dogs but they live alone and don't get any help from the husband. No I know Kody didn't help out the wives a lot but most families are worse
I got so mad while I was watching this, mainly because I didn’t read the book. Meri was willing to alienate her “sisters” in a vain attempt to improve her relationship with Kody. The other wives would not have gone along with this marriage if Meri had not been on board. And for Kody to say now that Christine was never kind or welcoming after the story of him sobbing to Christine? Liar! What do you think that cost her soul? To tell him he needs to marry Robyn? There’s not a punishment that fits for Kody. Meri’s collaboration cost her the family. I think that eventually Janelle will be happy and Christine is happy, but will Meri be happy? If her solution to a bad marriage is to give her husband a new wife I would say she has some stuff to figure out.
Kody shouldn’t have started a relationship with her. He had a full plate Christine needed him he was absent. He said Robyn is special he hadn’t had a crush. I bet they were having sex before marriage. No one listened Christine cries that bringing someone in isn’t good. Robyn should have come to him he had a lot more responsibility than she did. Robyn was put on a pedestal right away
Spiritual drive in Mary that said Robyn should be in their family.🤔 Hmm........I wonder what spirit..............KODY!!!!!!? When are we going to hear that Kody saw Robyn, his little antenna went up🌡️and secretly he approaches Mary and leads her to believe this was God's will, and how Mary can, "Earn Favor" with Kody.🤨🤥
Not only are Robyn’s claims of growing up in a polygamous lifestyle completely absurd. It’s just as absurd that Kody Meri had passed her off as experienced in living that life as a child. Considering the truth about her childhood and absent plural family members. It’s very clear her mother was a polygamist in name only and in truth she lived in a monogamous household. More like her mother was an occasional fling for her father. Robyn had Zero experience in this lifestyle. I would also venture to say that many of the behaviors of her mother were picked up by her, naturally. In terms of jealousy and making sure certain arrangements between she and Kody were established early on and throughout. Being the favorite wife monopolizing Kody’s time and the financial aspects are a few examples. It’s extremely evident from the start that Robyn’s actions never matched her words. I sincerely question Meri’s emotional and mental health. Considering how blind she was and still seems to be about the true nature of her relationship with Robyn. I understand Meri’s desperation for regaining Kody’s affections. However too allow that desperation and desire to blind her from the obvious for 20 yrs is insane. I just can’t wrap my mind around that. Even during Meri’s final breakup with Kody. Meri is seen consoling Robyn and expressing how Robyn cares about her. All the while Robyn expresses how deeply disturbed she feels emotionally for loosing her own personal dream. Versus feeling anything for meri’s loss. Unbelievable.
Oh, yeah. Christine was brought in when Janelle, Meri & Kodi were having issues. Meri in the book said she & Kody were having issues when they added Robyn.
Snobbin and kooter were bumbing nasties before they were " spirituality marring. Kooter called himself a priest. So he probably married himself with snobbin a little early.
Actually my mom 65 years ago had me and then went on to have three more children and she never had any stretch marks. I only have two kids and I have a million. And I had access to all the great creams and oils that she didn't so go figure.
@@vickihill4777I got millions with my first kid. My sister got only one stretch mark. 😂 The worst was when I thought I'd "use" the same stretch marks when I had more kids. Nope. I got new ones with each baby. 😂
Well robin was a secret from the beginning .. no surprise she’s always kept secrets and been a manipulative conniving person. No big surprise that blew up royally in mari’s face. And I agree it’s sad and pathetic that she had to find a woman for Kody to “get his pencil wet” with for him to give anything to Mari. She should’ve run far far away long ago. The second Kody and robin bullied Mari into a divorce (I’m so sure that that’s how it actually happened) she should have run like her life depended on it. Also, robin should’ve started getting preventative Botox around this time to help counteract her frown lines from looking so miserable and frowning all the live long day and the crows feet and wrinkles she’s got now from her constant attempt at crying.
Question: Do you think Meri was jealous of the relationship between Jenelle and Christine? So she plotted to get them back by bring in another woman who she could be partnered with? Meri already did not think highly of Jenelle who was previously married to her brother and Christine doesn’t get along with Meri; Her plan backfired on her.
In some ways if Robyn didn't come onto the show, the show maybe wouldn't have been a huge success. I watched the first 3 seasons then stopped until season 17. I just felt the whole show was sexist and I felt so bad for the children. Robyn essentially was the villan or antagonist from the start.
Im not a fan of Kody, and you might be right that innocent romantic behavior might be performative as they are being filmed. However from watching family vloggers (all of them are mormons) in the past and watching persons that were once mormon but arent any longer, this behavior is very typical. Exmos (ex mormons) always talk about in the religion all lot of people dont watch movies that are higher than pg13, have a lot of family centered activites, dont drink etc.. ie what some would refer to as innocent yet cringy behavior. As fundamentalists the behavior that they would display even in romantic situations would have the regular everyday calling them cheesy
Robyn saying she’s been working 😂😂😂😂 seriously girl, scoping out a new cash cow isn’t really considered “working’
Comment FTW
Thank you! I will consider the ASMR route :-).
She was "working it."
💯
Well said KB7887.. You said what I was thinking …
It’s funny to see Robyn smiling and contrast it to her continual frown in season 17😊
She looks so different. Before Kody - After Kody.
She has become so low energy with a permanent beaker face frown. .Wonder if the weight of being with Kody and his energy now is taking it's well deserved toll on her ?
It’s shocking how much things have changed … Robyn wanted the benefits of plural marriage but didn’t actually want to share her husband
You got it in one!! She wanted in, until she was.
If you plan on marrying into a polygamist family, you should definitely be hanging out with the whole family together.
@@ferialjohnstone4128 I think so too.
Trust me he knows
Janelle left him about 3 times before he married Robyn. I vote Janelle was more of an problem.
Christine comes off in the early seasons as more emotional but when you see how Kody talks to her I think he found it easy to manipulate her and confuse her. By asking if that makes sense and such when he explains how things really are. I think all the wives were susceptible to that tactic to stay in the marriage. Most people don't grow up knowing how to deal with narcissistic people.
Love your show .
I
Watching the earlier episodes really is eye opening when you see the end result.
Thanks, Ben!
Yes Indeed...Thank You!
@@judyl.7234
I’m sure if the camera’s were not around, Robyn would’ve enlighten Kody about being her #1 customer! 😂
That and Robyn lost her pretty girl privilege.
Oh, wow! I have not heard that before, but it make so much sense!!!
Kody can never say the divorce from Christine was a surprise bc she has said the things since Season 1.
I agree!
Exactly. She expressed her concerns and feelings from the get-go. He just never cared to listen.
I’d probably say her mom was the mistress wife that’s why they had a “honeymoon” marriage like she says all the time
And Robyn put herself between Kody and her sister and got pregnant. She crushed her own sister And now she calls him a deadbeat dad? She’s really a horrible woman
Thanks, Taylor!
Her family and friends say her mother was the other woman/mistress bc they’re Mormon mom probably said they were polygamist😂
Good point!
These are really good reviews of the old episodes
I'm excited for many more.
You are correct, there were many things we the viewers never picked up on in the earlier episodes
Robyn certainly got the easier ride out of all the wives
I'd be happy if they just did a show with Meri, Janelle and Christine the ex sister wives
They really are !!!
Glad you like them!
He BLEW IT
Good point!
When Kody was going alone I bet Robyn put her kids at her moms for the weekend. Told them a lie. That way she and Kody could get to know each other better..wink wink.
Yup, no one drives 5 hours just to get to know each other lol there was definitely more going on
Kody was getting his pencil wet.
Wth!
I hope she finds all the love in the world with David
I truly love your commentary, especially on these older episodes. Love from 🇨🇦
Wow, thank you!
I’m so glad I found your channel! Good perception. I especially love your reactions, you usually beat me to what I’m thinking! Lol!
Awesome! Thank you!
Isn't it incredible, as in almost unbelievable - she was able to pull that off? I'm amazed.
Your analysis is fascinating and completely spot on.
Interesting!
The catfish happened after Robin was in picture I think Robin set meri up so they could make her fill bad so 😭🐍 Robin could marry kody
@jobee1 I think exactly what you do!! I think maybe Kody had met Robyn previous and lead Meri to believe otherwise. However I don't believe Meri cheated on Cody prior. I do think maybe Cody or Robyn set up Meri with the catfish situation.
@@chriscypret5365 yep I think Meri got set up by Robyn or Kody.
I think Robyn heard about the upcoming series and arranged an introduction.
Kody’s polygamy was spiritually based…or so he said…..how easy is it to be horny….desiring truly only Robyn to be a man of faith and stop what he and Robyn both knew was crossing the line from God giving him a calling to marry Robyn….we have only the word of a man who consistently wrestles and lost in holding himself accountable under the spiritual laws he is sworn to follow, not to mention his conflict with the truth.

i love your videos!! for copyright I know movie/TV reaction RUclipsrs have methods of getting around claims, including covering part of the image with another image (usually their video in the corner) or they will zoom in and out
I have have a hard time believing anything that Kody, Meri or Robyn says 🤔 they've all been caught telling lies on camera so 🤔.
I felt bad for Christine and Janelle but not anymore because they are free from all those toxic people!
Agreed!
Funny how the two conniving wives Meri and Robin ended and how Janelle and Christine are living their best life. Goes to show you the honest girls won. Meri and Robin look foolish nd not liked.
Thanks for that info, I loved it! P.s.I love your laugh❤
Robin won!! I laughed so hard when you said that!! I really enjoy your snarkyness
Just started following I’m really enjoying ur videos so far ❤ I think Robyn is very manipulative and selfish and Kody is extremely selfish poor Christine she’s pregnant getting no emotional support from Kody ugh what a gong show !!

Watched it the first time and the second time. Wanted to make sure you still got the view. I still enjoyed it as much as the first time. 🙂
That was incredibly sweet of you. Thank you!
Good points!
🤭
THEN AND THERE...I WOULD HAVE SAID: "NO WAY...NOT THIS PERSON BECAUSE OF THE SNEAKY ENTRY., I CAN'T TRUST HER!"
BOTH Janelle and Christine should have called it!
Well, there was six years' difference between Savanna and Truely; Christine probably needed clothing for the new baby.
That's a fair point.
Woooooow. I didn't even realize he brought older kids to be babysitters..... 🤦♀️ He's such a dirt bag it's almost funny.
I just posted a new episode (S1E3) where he has the girls plan a birthday party and the whole family helps Robyn move. He has no shame. Neither does Robyn.
That's why they say Robyn is close to Mykelti. She lived there as a nanny/ housekeeper
I think the only thing Kody saw in Robin was lust
I agree that the way Robyn came into the family was unbalanced from the start. And the women went out of their way to accommodate her. Something she didn't do in return at all. But I've been thinking... is Christine a little selfish? I'm sure Meri & Janelle had to deal with jealously when she came into the family. But Christine wants doesn't want to experience that. Like you mentioned, she married Kody while Janelle was pregnant too. I haven't read their book yet but I'd like to know more about how Christine coming into the family affected Meri & Janelle.
😂😂 I love the title “he put a string on it”😂😂
Maybe Kody travelled so much so he could wet his 🥕!
Remember it's a ✏️
I want to know why the other wives didn't have a fit with Robin not working?
Good question.
Christine never worked.
It was for health insurance reasons. Weird that you made up the “taken away”part. Jealous much?
She’s a “Participation Trophy Wife” at best 🤮
@@oceanequestrian11 lol at best. She provides the ultimate customer appreciation experience.
Meri brought Robyn in to the family to hurt Christine.
YaY!!! Robyn won the booby prize!!🤣🤣
I’m actually so excited you’re watching old episodes to do commentary, thank you! 🫶🏻
You're welcome!
Not sure how many Mormons you know but...that hot chocolate date was pretty realistic lol
Yes i agree with you. Meri wanted him so much.
Again it is Mary's fault that Robin came into the family because she really didn't get along with the other two and she was lonely she thought bringing Robin into the family she would have a friend but boy did it backfire on her
Meri wrecked herself
Kody never fails to irritate the crap outta me:
"I'm packing. I'm gonna go see Robyn. Are you going to help me or just stand there and be a princess? *giggle* " 🤦🏼♀️ He thinks he's so cute and has always thought of himself as a gift to women. 🤢🤮
Kody acted as though Christine never made her feelings or concerns clear, yet we see that she does from the beginning.
And Robin is wearing the big earings and the A.U.B women don't wear earings it's frowned apawn.Kody made Christin and Janelle couldn't wear them.
We're thinking the same thing! LOL
It's actually fascinating (and gross) seeing how even back in S1, Robyn was treated differently than the other wives.
Isn't it crazy? Robyn's preferential treatment started right away.
Love your channel!!
Thank you so much!!
I LOVE 💕 your videos and your commentary 😊 New Subbie 💜
Very true!
You've made great points. I agree, Meri has some work to do.
I agree completely.
Their engagement photo, where she's leaning into him at a certain angle. Yup, they were having anti-purity moments.
Heather I found you in the last week or so and very much enjoy your SW content, tjanks! 😊 Why have you stopped? 💜
Kody went to see Sobyn to get his pencil wet
Kody fell in love with Robyn and he was so attracted to her physically unlike his other wives.
I also think the wives & maybe the children were all band-aids. We have issues, let's have a baby, let's add another & see if that fixes it.
Oh, yeah. Christine was brought in when Janelle, Meri & Kodi were having issues. Meri in the book said she & Kody were having issues when they added Robyn.
Care taking or attending to the narcissist Kody. So true.
Snobbin and kooter were bumbing nasties before they were " spirituality marring. Kooter called himself a priest. So he probably married himself with snobbin a little early.
He was the officiant and the groom. LOL
Love Robyn being so stuck up she expects everyone to believe she had all those kids and managed to avoid stretch marks. Who carried those pregnancies?
Actually my mom 65 years ago had me and then went on to have three more children and she never had any stretch marks. I only have two kids and I have a million. And I had access to all the great creams and oils that she didn't so go figure.
When you see her go to the ultrasound for Sol, her tummy has stretch marks galore
@@vickihill4777I got millions with my first kid. My sister got only one stretch mark. 😂
The worst was when I thought I'd "use" the same stretch marks when I had more kids. Nope. I got new ones with each baby. 😂
Im still having a hard time dealing with these early episodes
Robyn said she wouldn’t see her stepfather for weeks sometimes.
And she never saw him on holidays. Well, at least he saw her during her childbirthing
@@rebeccajones4stories I know he was right in the room for her giving birth!🤮
Exactly...... her mother was a glorified mistress. She's never lived the sister wives life
Oh wow!
Meri is so pathetic! Do anything to get Kody back! And would go on doing other things ,yet Kody really has no love for her !
I think she was hopeful her selflessness would make him love her again. It is really heartbreaking.
It’s interesting that he says he checks on all his kids at night in front of the camera…….then Christine lets us know that’s a big lie and always was.
In some ways if Robyn didn't come onto the show, the show maybe wouldn't have been a huge success. I watched the first 3 seasons then stopped until season 17. I just felt the whole show was sexist and I felt so bad for the children. Robyn essentially was the villan or antagonist from the start.
The 3 wives should have said no from the beginning and forced Robyn to wu them.
Except hes sleeping with her behind all of there backs
Truly is 6 years younger than Ysabel I don't think they had many hand me down and they were done having kids.
They were in northern Utah, and she was in southern Utah
Meri did it to get in his graces and to hurt them ! Back fired . Iies lies lies ...sneaky 😒 😢
Thank you for the perspective! Perhaps I'm missing the cultural piece and taking it out of context.
He brings teens to babysit and they are maybe there to keep an eye on him?
The wives when they get back: "Where did everyone sleep?"
