Yeah, well this used random item I have retails for $400, so I want $400. So how will you make your money? Gee, idk. It never occurred to me, apparently.
It’s crazy that you even gotta explain it. Like clearly I’m not gonna pay you what it’s worth, your going to a business asking for money, that person ain’t gonna buy it and take it home and use it, hes gonna clean it up, take a picture, put a number on it and sell it. That goes for so many other business, you literally have to explain that you’re in this to make money, not lose money or break even. At least he’s honest,
What people do not understand about pawn shops is that you are paying for the convenience of selling then and there, done deal same day. No researching for potential buyers, no posting it online, no answering questions, no waiting for replies or payment, no shipping costs or hassle, and cash in hand. Because of that convenience, you will be paid less. If you want more, you will have to go through the hassle of selling it yourself by doing what the shop owner has to do to resell it.
They provide a service, however, the system of the market itself has become more and more exploitative the last 3 centuries: allow me to give you 3 levels of exploitation 1 capitalism - after the steam power age, the noble’s peons and serfs became the subjects of land owners and capitalists which represent the same style of inheritance/ dynasty and land ownership that nobles had and this generation of laborers understood that they were being purposely paid low amounts to remain dependent on their employers. before assembly lines, there was no such thing as a low skilled class, there were only people that were poor or undomesticated from rural areas and people from areas with capital, in domesticated economies, tradesmen passed trade down to children(local trade names were passed down too like potter or shoemaker)and most were in high demand and their profits represented their demand in the labor market. Fathers and sons owned their capital before industrialism and production lines turned their trades into artisan craft. Many of these former tradesmen that now found themselves on an assembly line where it took multiple people to produce one thing, saw that the owners took mass amounts of the surplus value that used to go to them when they produced goods by themselves when they were the owners. Owners control the distribution of surplus because they own the capital. What is surplus value? It is the profit made from labor, if it only costs 15 cents to produce a good, and that product then sells on the local market for $10, then the surplus value is $9.85. What is capital? It’s 3 things: 1 natural resources or the raw materials it requires to produce goods or provide services, 2 the machinery to extract natural resources or produce goods or provide services, and 3 property. So the workers make the owners rich all day everyday and the profits they create only contribute to two entities, the business owner and the landlord, it’s a manipulated labor market that only benefits the owners. Many people don’t understand that If a low skilled class is maintained, slave owners could make larger profits switching over to employees because price of slaves and housing and feeding slaves costs far more than paying out wages, so after the age of capitalism, only traditionalists or conservatives wanting to conserve their wat of life continued to be slave owners at the detriment to their wallets
2 speculation - one way of making passive income or money without working or producing anything is to gamble on commodities, sometimes this includes the big guys at the top that move the markets on stock exchange purposely creating a volatile market so that hedge funds that straddle stocks and options etc can make a large profit. This means they both bet for and against the same companies and industries in hopes either gamble will sway in a large profit. To achieve this, workers in certain industries must not be rewarded for their hard work.
3 financialization - in 1971, 88 American corporations pooled together 10% of their quarterly earnings into bribing both political parties, the media, the government, and the courts. They got caught breaking into political offices in 1972 to find opposition research on politicians that wouldn’t accept their bribes so they could defeat them in the next election. They lobbied lawmakers to block working class legislation and this included the finance industry lobbying democrats to block their own policies including raising the minimum wage. The reason is again, passive income, the people running the finance companies wanted low skilled workers to take more loans out to survive week to week so they could prosper without working for a living

As a huge collector of autographs I would go to Studebakers to get Walter Payton to sign items but when he had his office there his secretary signed a lot of fan mail that was sent to him there and there is a difference between his signature and the secretary.
At times when I enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning I check out some of my subscriptions. I see potential in your company.
That old bat probably signed the Payton footballs herself.
Another great episodes Pete. Always enjoy what you post. "Hooked" on Pete's Trading Post and Animal shelter.
Famous words…I’ve seen it on sell on ebay for… THEN SELL IT ON EBAY THEN!!!
Love your stuff Pete
When I can I stay in cabin? I love fishing for walleye. Does it have any? Will the fridge be stocked and lots of beer as well? Canadian beer please . (Budweiser)
Should have just told him your not saying he’s lying about seeing the balls being signed but as a reseller you have to convince your buyers and without a COA that’s tough. They seems caught up on that and almost offended like you were calling them liars hah
Love your 'show'. Radio Shack like department stores outsourced their store brand electronics. You can look up the model and year and find out who made that receiver. I bought a pair of Fidelio speakers up here in Canada in the '70s that were made by JBL and would of cost over twice as much with "FBL on them. Same specs at less than half the price.
Congratulations on being in love with another man Thanks for telling everyone
Man that Du Pont antique is amazing Pete
I love it ! 1:40
What’s even more “cool” is the fact that many if not all those high end cameras were hand built. Including the fit/finish of the lenses after the grinding process.
In all honesty Pete, you should't allow the cat on that table when your clients have their items on there. Even if the cat don't damage anything, why risk it? Also, some clients don't like a cat on top of their valuables or whatnot. Something to consider.
It’s Pete’s shop and majority of people find it charming and cats are very clean. I find it very charming and Pete’s treatment of his kitty is one of his most endearing qualities and to me the sign of true character.
@@alesele20 they can leave if they don't approve....... in all honesty, simple.
✌
The first video I watched I thought the same but know watching Pete for awhile I wouldn't care at all definitely part of the charm and show.
I agree !
I could watch this stuff for days
Also, Honey gets to sit where Honey wants to sit!
This channel is so damn good!!!!!!
That edit in the beginning was great 😂
RIP Trading Post: July 28, 2023
That Karen woman was giving Honey the death stare for quite some time.
What about her unusually dark sunglasses ? Freakin' weirdo.
She was out for that poor cat.
@@holdonC lol !
I bet I know the buyer that scammed that dude on his fan. Got me for $1600 on a fan.
My wife and I are always looking for your next post. We are in South East Ohio. Trying to make a 2 day trip. Main reason, just to visit your shop and meet you in person. There is alot you have bought recently that I am interested in.
The maps were waterproof and for pilots that had to eject. Part of survival pack.
Great video I like the map pretty cool for it's age. Other then that I think the pictures will do well. Thanks for the update.
The old couple the wife was rude she need to get attitude check i feel sorry to the husband. I seen this type of people where I live before they got kick out from the wife
Definitely a Karen , I guess when your that old you just tolerate each other lol hes probably used to it 😂
I am from England and she is what we call a miserable cow 😂 that poor bloke has to wake up to that every morning 😅 IMAGINE 😱😎✌️🇬🇧
yeh, she embarrassed me as well the daft old moo 🇬🇧 😂, just imagine the ear bashing he got when they got back home
@@badlarry172was about to say this and saw your comments. Christ she was irritating.
I'd have to tell that lady to go when she tried to shoo the cat, in the same way as she spoke to the cat, clapping her ash out the door
We dont need the money yet they go and try to sell. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Talking with a lady at our pensioner's luncheon, she said not to donate my jewelry, etc since I know the charity shop prices things low. Instead, sell it to a jewelry shop at a better price and give the money to the charity. Makes sense to me.
you all forget this woman was raised by a mother who had to wash tin foil to save money the depression was no fucking joke you didnt cheap out and let some pawn shop owner get over on you that lady was based and nice she said thank you and shook his hand at the end just becuase she voices her opinion people not you are calling her a bag
Careful dude, at 30:38 some sniper was checking out your chin.
The woman was a bit ‘off’
Walter Payton used to own 34's Studebakers and The Village pub all in Schaumburg and a few others in Oakbrook he lived in Barrington off of Barrington Road in Inverness and he had a sign in front of his house all the time called Payton's run but every time he put one up it was stolen. I believe he said he had about 10 made but they're all stolen from him.
Pete, go look again, they're are plenty of examples of Walter Payton dragging the 4
That old Dupont Blasting Detonator is a pretty good deal for $350 if its in as good condition as it appears on the outside. Wish I lived close by, I would seriously consider coming out to take a look.
I have a bunch of those old video cameras from ww2 also. My grandfather's, along with videos he took during.
I am watching this from Rockford, Il.
Love your Jimi tshirt, Pete!! 🙂
She wears a cheetah outfit, but doesn’t like cats
Man. That negotiation was so….aggravating. People want retail price in a thrift store. Its unrealistic. And its always the uneducated wife.
Women ruin everything
*Entitled
Those are the same people that b|t©h about the prices at a store or restaurants. But oh lawdy, when it's time to get rid of a few of their items ....top dollar amounts all the way!
Looks like he can’t make this lady happy
" R.I.P. Trading Post" 😅 Brilliant. Bzzt..
I don’t even know her and I wanna divorce her
Just hearing about Palatine and Dundee rd and northwestern Blvd is making me sad ASF right now ! I went from Denver co to Palatine to try to get my x gf Sarah back at the time and was homeless in the area cause of it this was 2006
She literally shooed the cat like a mega Karen
Ya ! you don’t mess with Honey !
They’re some real pros
Miami is loving Jimmy thanks for letting him go ;)
That lady was kinda gross with her attitude. Yuck!🤮 She definitely needs to work on her people skills.
Pete got the Filet part of the bone. HAHAH. Love Ya Pete
That old guy was LYING and a SCAMMER!!! If the signatures don't look right to you, they won't look right to COLLECTORS!!!
Was expecting the pig to drop his pants with the old guy and his wife 😂😂
Plastic map: SVN is rather humid (you think your area is humid visit SVN--which no longer exists) and plain paper maps wouldn't last. Those semi-plastic ones did, longer. The country was divided into four MRs (Military Region?)--gittin' old, forgetting things. Can't see it good enough so have no idea what the squares are. I'll have to get my old paper one out - a/c is wonderful.
Just to "educate" you... I worked for Radio Shack (Tandy Corporation)... almost all of our "Realistic" Amp/Tuners WERE "PIONEER". Look at the "boards" in them. The brand is printed on them.
Also he said he doesn't know how to test a power amp? If he really has high end receivers in the back, any one of them will have pre outs
Love your videos
Love the channel and content. Pete seems like a nice fair guy and shop pets are cool, but its disrespectful to allow the cat to lay on items that haven't been purchased yet. I dont blame the lady. I would have been annoyed by that too. i think Pete should have apologized and removed the cat immediately. Theres a small but not 0 chance the weight of the cat could damage something like that. It's not a big deal Im sure that if the item was damaged Pete would make it right
@@sheseesthrees8470 I think having the cat in the shop is nice and I'd probably pet it if allowed, but letting it lay on not yet purchased clothes or other stuff is over the line. I wouldn't want my own cat laying on something nice yet alone somebody else's. If they are allergic they can just leave but if the cat is all over their stuff that could be a problem. If he lets the cat lay on stuff he bought already I figure that's his stuff so whatever.
