I just recently installed the Fishman Neo-D Humbucker in my 1972 Yamaha Red Label concert. I recorded it plugged in and it sounded natural with absolutely no quack. I unplugged and moved the guitar closer to the mic (Aston Origin Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser). The guitar sounded just the same. I'm very impressed with the Fishman pickup. I'm going to run a semi-permanent mount. Thanks for the idea. I have installed some pretty fancy pickups in my guitars over the years and I believe the Neo-D Humbucker beats them all. I'm getting the Neo-Buster for my Gibson J 45 because that guitar is definitely a howler.
Oh I so needed this demo. Thank you! I don't want a screwdriver anywhere near me and a guitar so I'm going to buy the Feedback buster option. I have one or two beautiful guitars that I don't want to modify at all so this one is ideal. Always great videos and beautiful playing!
thanks for de video! I was wondering when you say "really high volume" what kind if volume where you thinking about. I have a rock band, and for some songs I use a acoustic, but then the band enters (drums, electric guitars, etc) and lift the thing up, if you know what i mean. But still, we do small gigs for for 200 persons por example (we´re not a stadium band jajaja). Do you think I would be needing the Neo-buster, or the Neo-D will do the job? and between them, what do a i loose if a choose de neo-buster. Thank you very much for your answer!
Wow! No processing? i like the sound of these much more than the expensive (L.R.B.) ones. These sound much closer to the acoustic guitar. I am looking for an acoustic pickup. No tools (other than a few screwdrivers) or skills to use them if I had any. Don't want to drill in my guitars anyway. No big deal to have a visible pickup or cord. A cord holster to fit on the endpin would be a nice touch. Does one come with these models? Thanks for the video. At times a bit on the wordy side but informative and your playing is A+
I used both extensively ,I actually prefer the single coil ,much more ,let´s say, lively ,but in some environments was totally unusable for noise and hum. And you´ll never know until there. If it would be possible, like in the Lr Baggs M1 ,to simply unplug the cable and quickly switch between the two,a single coil and a humbucker or even a M1 when needed ,I´ll definitely use it as my main pick up .I spent years with these cables hanging from the soundhole ,I desire on my gigging guitar something fix and stable.
Thanks for the info. So, what do you think of the tone of these things as far as sound like an electric goes? What I'm looking for isn't an acoustic tone but a way to switch to an electric sound without carrying around an extra axe.
Teja what model guitar is that? I have a very similar shaped and sized guitar from yamaha, the apx700ii and its plugged in sound is really bad. its solid top but not the rest so probably i assume your taylor is all solid?
Thank you! You just gained a subscriber. This is exactly the video I was looking for. I really don't like the idea of getting a hum (as you do with single coil pickups), so I am going to order the Neo-D Humbucking pickup. I won't sound as good as you do but maybe, if I practice hard for the next twenty years... 😀
i have a yamaha that also has an oval soundhole, APX700II, sounds really shit plugged in, so need to try something else!! its a small guitar like this guy played at the start, but im guessing his taylor is all solid wood which mine isnt, the apx700 sounds like a cardboard box. looks great though
I'm new to this and looking for a soundhole setup. Would the addition of something like a GigPro preamp offset the difference of sounds from these pickups? I'm thinking more in the direction of making a humbucker sound brighter, like a single coil.
Thank you so much for all your videos and demos, they are so usefull! Just one question, I want a pickup for my classic nylon string acoustic guitar...what do you recommend? I'm about to purchase a Fishman Matrix VT (narrow format) but I just saw this video and thought this could be enough. Is there any recommendation for a nylon string guitar? thanks!
Soundhole pickups require metal guitar strings...phospher bronze, 80/20, monel, etc. Nylon strings won't work. You'll need to go either with a mic, a soundboard transducer, or an undersaddle pickup.
Keep in mind you have here professional player + 500£ microphone + 400£ amp + dedicated room (I assume sort of studio) - pickup here is like 10% of the sound :) I installed this on my Yamaha and results are quite poor - level is so low that nearly not usable for any live setup or even home recording, I went super loud on mixer/interface preamp but this just adds a lot of white noise - used Roland KC60, UMC1820, XENYX 1202FX, DBR12's - I asked guitar player to test it with Fishman Loudbox Mini with same result ... poor sound - I guess I could try amp + microphone or sort of preamp as otherwise this just doesn't work
It sounds like something might be wrong with either the pickup you got or something else in your setup. In this video, I'm plugging the pickups directly into a Fishman Loudbox Mini amp, no external preamp, and the mic is only used to capture the amp, so it isn't really part of the actual sound.

Good demo. Very good sound with both of them and great playing too.
lol
Brilliant demo, I think about to buy this Pickup 👍
Just ordered my humbucker one from Sweetwater. I can’t wait till it gets here.
Perfectly structured review. Great playing too! Many thanks.
Finally somebody slapping with a sound hole pickup! I’ve been looking to see how they sound when slapping
I just did mine, thank you very much for your tutorial.

very good demo
Thanks Teja. Very helpful.
Most informative. Many thanks.
great demo and great playing thank you!
excellent demo, very helpful
I've got the same amp. I love it
Excellent demo! Very helpful.. Thank you so much.. And great playing ❤❤❤
Most helpful - thank you!

Thanks Mr Gerken I am trying to decide between this and the permanently installed Guild dearmond Humbucking in my OOO15SM. So thanks
Nice! Does it work well with phosphor bronze strings?
Is this direct? Room any volume? Processing compression?
Thanks!
This is direct into the Fishman Loudbox amp, which is miked with the Ear Trumpet Labs Edwina. No further processing.
Thanks for the very Informative video. I want to know how good is the Neo-Buster Humbucking Soundhole Pickup for Nylon string guitar ?
It won't work, strings have to be metal and magnetic to work
As the other commenter correctly pointed out, soundhole pickups will only work with steel-strings, due to their magnetic functionality.
Thanks nice video.I would like to ask i can put it in my classic guitar?
No, it only works with metal strings, not nylon. I use LR Baggs Anthem SL in my classical, a bit more expensive though and needs to be installed.

Hi, what size sound hole will this pickup fit? Thank you.
Personally I like the single coil much better. Actually it sounds a lot like my Lace California soundhole pu
Being a tele guy, I like the jangle of a single coil.Oh ,awesome video!

@@LucasGonze it would sound more electric but certainly not as an electric
@@paoli91 Thanks, G. I ordered it - it's cheap enough that it's not that much of a risk.
@@LucasGonze exactly,if you don´t like it I´ll buy it from you, take good care of the jack area ,they tend to break there
What is the song's name in the intro & outro section ?!?
Definitely sounds better than the ES2 system. Gotta try something to make my 510e sound like an acoustic. Might have to try this. 👍
Teja what model guitar is that? I have a very similar shaped and sized guitar from yamaha, the apx700ii and its plugged in sound is really bad. its solid top but not the rest so probably i assume your taylor is all solid?
This is a 1994 Taylor 712c.
I have the single coil. And the Fishman amp. Can you add a looper with this setup?
Of course.

Will it fit in a Washburn Rover? It has an oval opening

Will this fit on martin lx1 mini guitars?
