    Everybody keeps saying that you HAVE to use a microphone, that you CAN'T use the pickup, but I actually like the direct sound. I had recorded songs with my acoustic 12 string, directly on my lap-top with Audacity, more than 10 years ago. Without a direct box. It sounded and still sounds very good.
    I like this clean, precise, crystal-clear sound, even if it's a bit cold and metallic. It sounds 80's, new wave, and I like it.
    But I think it's even better using the pickup AND a mic.
    Also, I think that the direct sound sounds better in a band situation, with other instruments, than if you play alone.

    Not bad at all, but in my experience some sort of pick up, magnetic or piezo, blended with a mic sounds better. Not better in purely sonic terms, but the unappealing tone of pick ups, and the possibility to process both sources separately, is crucial in order to get the right amount of presence, low end and microphonic natural tone. The wireless option is surely interesting,

    Acoustic guitars aren't designed to be listened to from the inside, you can hear it's boxy and bassy as you'd expect. Might be a useable sound in some contexts but I don't imagine it's great in a whole band mix.

    Sounds good. I like the mounting system and having effects built in to the receiver is neat, but any mic inside a guitar will scream past a certain volume in a live environment. Nice for adding a blend with your under-saddle pickup though. BTW, I'm one of the people that dislike piezo pickups! (They do provide a usable sound, if not a nice one.) Also I notice you went with pee-ay-zo, some people say pie-zo, some pee-et-zo, some pee-zo...I think we need an international standard for the pronunciation of this word! I'm never sure how to say it, ha!

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  2 года назад

      Haha yeah I stuck with my pronunciation, I used it once live so far and there was no feedback, I kept the gain low and the master volume on the amp was my volume adjustment, could be a great idea to blend the two pickups actually. Good call and worth a try! Hope all is well in your world mate (saw your great new videos)

    @BennyTheBusker 23 дня назад

    No, it is not better than a properly miked acoustic guitar and it is certainly not better than using a Blue Baby Bottle mic, which is not the best mic to always use in live situations anyway. Yes, it sounds better than a typical, quacky, under-the-saddle piezo pickup, but that's not saying much. Also, on stage, a wireless system cannot always be trusted unless you are in a carefully controlled venue that has precautions against interference and drop-outs.

      i only gigged through 1 amp and a PA system, didn't experience any feedback, i didn't blend the sound, just used the pickup and it's very durable, the only con is if you play single note solos then it does pickup the squeaks from the strings, no complaints other than that.
