- I love when a company like @Fishman_Music releases a new pickup, because it means my life as a musician is about to get better! Like every guitarist I know, I'm always chasing the best tone, and the new PowerTap Earth Acoustic pickup from Fishman is really blowing my mind. I wanted to check this pickup system out first-hand, so my friends over at @guitarworld and Fishman sent me this loaded @prsguitars AX20E. I couldn't be happier with the tone. I almost always mic acoustic guitars to get natural tone, and them blend with the pickup signal... but all of the tone in this video is coming straight from the PowerTap Earth pickup.

You're an awesome guitar player Mr. Johnson. I usually listen to you for a good 8 to 12 hours a day. It's very soothing. I'm dealing with cancer right now. I hope I get to see you live before it's over. Thank you so nm much for the great joy I feel listening to you. God bless you and yours always sir. Resp. Major Troy Lane - ret

I have gotten much better just watching Justin.

Love that tonal quality Justin. You are the guitar man. It's amazing that you can tailor the sound to various music and styles. You keep playing and I'll keep watching and listening 🎧.
Thanks for the videos you do...
I believe I'm ready to not just listen but play myself , you inspire me. What better thing to learn while Corona is going on.
Keep playing on Justin 🎸
The diversify of tones is amazing!
Wow! I wasn't expecting a sound like that from a pickup, amazing
Excellent demo video. Love the playing, the Fishman and the PRS.
I've been very happy with the Tosin Abasi Signature 7 string set in my 27" scale Bryant Custom Guitars Tele. I expect I would love the Fishman Acoustic pick up set demonstrated in this video as well.
Absolutely beautiful and clearer than a summer sky , Fishman have produced a top product , cheers .
Cannot stop listening from 9:59 to the end - have it on repeat. So damn good!! Wishing you well!
Amazing Justin love the sound keep it coming.
Wow! Just Wow! Totally enthralled every time I watch.
You are a constant inspiration. It’s rare that players make me feel like that. You are quickly becoming one of my favorite players. You and Brian Setzer.
I'm in love with that! Thanks for the info.
You are so smooth with your playing. Admire it.👍👍
Pickup and guitar both sound awesome ! Just love your playing ! ! Fishman products are always killer !
Always inspires me as a player and confirms that the hands/touch are the KEY.
Great review, thanks!
Loved hearing them active and inactive and you showing on the screen. Keep it up
I like that it sounds natural and can be split with the stereo cable.
I'd like to put it in mine.
It's well worth it.
Wow, absolutely amazing sound, great video, great playing, thanks🎶🎸🔥🤘
That’s amazing ! I’m a huge fan of old harmony and silver tone guitars etc ... I’d love to get that on a couple old ones , that prs sounds killer 👊🏼
Brilliant man, loving it🥃🖤
As always, great job.
You can tell when Justin is super excited about a guitar or accessories when he has a little smirk on his right lip and his eyes open up a little more. Great blurb on the PowerTap pickup by the way.
That is an amazing sounding/multifunction pickup JJ. I agree that Fishman makes great pickups. Even though I can't really play guitar, I sure can appreciate the sound quality coming out of that guitar! 👍👍😉😉
Ey Justin would like to extend my highest respect to you my friend. been around music for 45 years and you have ignited more than just an appreciation of music. But a hunger for emotions that come with playing the instrument. I have studied theory for ever and hearing you and #SteveStine have really spark a flame. Look forward to working with you guys soon ...
That pickup sounds amazing!!!
Holy cannoli! Your strum and pick mixed style is sick!! 🤘🏻 I have to try to play that at the beginning 🔥I just got this pickup yesterday!
Great vid as always bro
sounds awesome Justin !
Yes, the sound is enchanting, no doubt about it! Goosebumps!
That worked. Thanks, and be well.
Thanks for the awesome video, Justin! A simple, yet amazing system, and to be fair, or clear, you're using an awful lot of (unannounced) FX units here to flavor the overall tone, but I'm still keenly interested in this arrangement for certain guitars. I was gonna get the Ellipse Aura or maybe the Ellipse Matrix Blend system for a minty Larson Brothers Prairie State SJ12 Jumbo, but they can both present some problems (feedback, etc.), along with being a bit too trebly at-times. I absolutely love the warmth and low-end produced by this PowerTap Earth combo, but quite honestly, I'd be reluctant to use it in a larger-bodied 6- or 12-string 'Jumbo', simply because most jumbos tend to already be a bit boomy in the low-end. Anyway, you were absolutely right, "swampy" is the perfect word for it, and stereo???? Get outta Dodge!
Thanks for New product knowledge from you justin👍
I'll try someday for my acoustic guitar😁
G'day from Australia, loving the little crow guitars!
I’m sold that’s awesome 🤩
I have always loved FISHMAN pickups and their extreme quality... which is why I bought the FISHMAN Amp for my Martin! So when JUSTIN speaks FISHMAN... I listen!!!
Course, if I could play like you, that too would be a greater help. Great job describing this unit! 👍😁
Defenitly, this Rare Earth Mic Blend Active Soundhole Pickup will be added to my Washburn parlor guitar. Thanks Justin !
Really enriches the sound 👍👍🤙
That’s a great sounding setup Justin, like your pick as well due to necessity I have been experimenting and have come to a identical thumb holder , great job sir
The power tab makes it sound so much more rich? Thank you for breaking it all down for us dreamers! Best of all it just sounds dam great!
finally someone who knows how to review a pickup and not beating around the bush like 90% of youtubers, I'll definitely subscribe to your channel, you're very knowledgeable Justin
Hey! Yeah, that prs is awesome. I've never played a PRS acoustic..? I bet its awesome..👍 Cool video
The more I heat the PRS acoustic the greater the temptation to sell my Martin and that Fishman Power tap pick up is just blowing me away - thanks for sharing
I don't really understand everything you say honestly but I could listen to you play anything, anytime. I do learn some things though. Much Love.
Ohh my !! Love that "Swampy" work 👍
.... Justin,I'm diggin The "Loft" channel(I'm subscribed 2 BOTH ur chanels) very much. It seems as if the Cats @Fishman Tranducers have pretty much thought of everything. Just the pick-up woulda been cool (as you stated) but the STEREO split deal is a "Game Changer" 4 sure . The possibilities are truely endless, and the TONES are as well. Very cool Products(guitar too lol) and thanks for all that ya do man!!!!!
Jeez what stellar playing!
Best review so far
Cool review mate :)
Wow! What a tone!
Best way I can describe it.... It almost sounds as if the audience were the ones playing rather than just listening. As a guitar player, when watching someone else play, it almost feels like we miss minitones and micronotes that the powertab picks up in the wooden resonance.
I don't play-but-multiple replaying's
switching between stereo or DSU in my HT while you are making the changes
the stereo creates the 'best' immersion among other adjectives that make this a gizmo to be followed for some serious playing / listening
TY
Beautiful love the sound
Loved the swamp tones!
Sounds great Justin
Great Vid more please!
when two or more different sounds are combined in one one tune it will create harmony that's why it sounds beautiful..
others musicians combine all the things they can imagine to obtain good sounding on their guitar..alot of companies also are producing that kind of mix on their guitars or pick up alone and offers not just mic bleand but effects too on their pick-ups..
Love mine great clarity
Man I hope you get to keep the guitar. Sounds great. Happy Friday everyone
Dear JJ, Thanks for some really useful information.
Really cool system for sure! I pushed all that important stuff. Subscribed! Look forward to seeing more. Good job buddy!👍
Sounds awesome
That guitar sounds straight up awesome
Very technical talk💜
I have one of the first Fishman Rare Earth Blend models which has the humbucker and a mic on a small boom you can adjust the blend and do stereo with that one as well. I like the old one would be interesting to hear a comparison with this new one.
Awesome stuff I havent played in ten years..now I'm very interested I just always loved stereo and EFFECTS 👍
Awesomeness
Magnificent demo
Articulate techy I could still "get it"

The PowerTap brings the sound Alive!
Never seen You as Excited!!!!
Awesome
I like it 🤩
Wowwww. Sounds so brite and full rounded
I would love to sit one day with this cat my favorite player you are awesome man!!
I may have to get that set up...and I'm stealing your swampy chops
I love what my Fishman rare earth, mic blend is pumping out. The rare earth pickup has the sound that keeps giving while I'm playing and the mic is adjustable on a flex-neck so I can get to the areas inside the guitar I want to use. The system I was using before was the Fishman Ellipse Aura which is about $100 more and relies on the piezo under-saddle pick-up and never gave me what expected for the money, even with the onboard imaging option. I love this Fishman rare earth/mic blend system I've been using and I consider it to be by far the most versatile attractive-sounding system yet for onboard sound capture.
Don't leave a guitar cord in or it will drain the battery which will normally give you about 100 hours of playtime. I had to get in the habit of removing the cord before putting my guitar on its stand, not a big thing in comparison to changing the battery.
Hi Justin, the bass sound is like on bariton guitar...full and deep.😎👍
Since I my 4,000$$ Taylor Grand Orchestra...
I'm a singer songwriter,I thought the was the perfect haze..
It sounded.old school yet it's very.distinctive....
I the Lag,with all the effexx was mad freaky insane brother I fell in love that right.the bat....my four grand was stolen by meth heads them assholes don't even have consciense after I gave the dude some stuff for free....

Rest,
Please, never stop loving your hot babes in the background.
Luv ya man.
ShawnPhilip.🍀
Sounds GREAT with headphones.
Good shit man
you sound awesome keep it up
He's talking about bi amping from a separate piezo and humbucker on the guitar. It's an old concept and i've been using it for years with great results!
Wooww...BLUES MAN!!
Wow!! That sounds Amazing!!!!!! 😰👍
That was really informative. You'd need a solid tin ear to not hear the difference. :)
Had something interesting happen during the little treat at the end... one particular chord made my table resonate, and I got this deep thrumming for just a moment. Who knew, you can get a table to make music! :)
Hey Justin, do you sing as well? you've got an interesting country-bluesy voice, easy to listen to.
Please, please, please... post a tutorial showing how to play that opening lick.
That lick is beyond cool!
PRS ..... Very nice 👍
So many new do-dads, and, they are wonderful. It makes this old girls head spin. Loving it!
going to check out this pickup. wish he could have done some travis finger picking and alternate bass thumb picking
You need this setup on a resonator... Man that'd be awesome.
Seems like an open frontier with the VR headsets and the 3d tonals for advanced audio/visual artistry.
With all respect to JJ the only onboard system that even comes close to a set of good condensers is a Joe Mills/LR Baggs combination. The above system is good, no great, but can't touch the JM/LRB rig I had.
Found a Seagull in a pawn shop just outside Nashvile. It had a factory installed Baggs system. Bought the guitar and took it to a tech on 16th Ave. South. The place is called The Classic Ax. He had a NOS Joe Mills mic. He installed a rotary volume pot that was separate from, but ran through the Baggs vol/eq. The whole thing was in turn powered with a 9v battery.
My guitar was an Alvarez DY-39. It had a solid top w/HPL sides/back. Acoustically it was ok, but not a cannon. But, at every writer's round I was asked by sound guys, fellow writers, pickers, road dogs, studio guys. Everybody wanted to know about the rig. One night at the Bluebird Pat Flynn said, "That's the best sounding plugged-in I've ever heard. What are you running?" He took a look at it and from what I heard he had the same thing installed in his guitar when he toured with Leon Russell(RIP).
My point is that one needs to account for air movement with an onboard system. A lavalier mic allows for that. A mag/piezo is all about string and wood vibration. No air movement. That being said put a good set of cans on and listen. This combo is incredible. Warm and full w/o 'tinny' highs or 'muddy' lows. Thanks, JJ for all the great music over the years.
