- A more affordable version of Fishman's renowned Rare Earth pickup, the Neo-D is a single coil pickup that can be installed in virtually any guitar. In this video, we'll install it on a Yamaha F310P and see how it performs.
Buy from Amazon: tinyurl.com/zt...
For future installers, you don’t have to loosen the strings or take the 2 screws all the way out of the pickup before installation. Just loosen the 2 screws enough, to allow the pickup to slide into position, then tighten the 2 screws. Easy peezy.
Using acoustic IRs can transform the sound of these pickups, a Nux Optima Air is a all in one, but any cheap IR and a free 3rd party acoustic IR uploaded will make a huge difference.
Great review; thank you. I intend to use a Neo D for gigging and open-mic so I took the pain, paid the extra and went for the humbucker. I'm using it tomorrow night at a gig so I hope it behaves itself. If it's all good, I'll permanently install it by wiring it to an endpin jack.
thanks for making this I just bought one off amazon too 🤘🏼
Thanks for watching!
This really helped. Didn't have clue how to put it in!
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
Holy cow - even I could make a video! Thanks!
Can you not loosen the screws with the cork still attached and slide the entire assembled pickup in and tighten the screws then? Or do you have to add the brackets sperate?
Hi Lucas, yes you could just loosen the screws and slide the pickup in, I only realised I could do that after making the video! I admit, pretty dumb move, haha. Thanks for watching!
Absolutely, takes less than 5 minutes. Just did it.
Thank you so much for the explanation
Glad it was helpful!
I want fishman pickups on my fender
Just got one
Thanks for the video. I was unsure about the cord placement I didn’t want to drill holes in my guitar
Thanks for watching!
Can you take it out after you've installed it?
Nice demo! Do you use a preamp pedal in front of the electric guitar amp? (Or do you use a acoustic guitar amp?)
I use a 40w Fender Acoustasonic Acoustic guitar amp. Thanks for watching!
Cable is 10' long with 1/4" plug.
Wow. Sounds like it was recorded with a condenser mic.
Thanks for watching!

are you satisfied with this and would you recommend me to mount it permanently
For the price, yes I'm satisfied with it. It's easy enough to remove it, but I suppose you could leave it mounted in the soundhole, provided you don't mind dealing with some cable management.
If you're going to plug your guitar into an amp, or you want to mess around with effects, or if you want to play live, this is a great investment. Thanks for watching!
@@GizmoJoeReviewsTech thanks for your suggestion
The Neo D is terrible for the hum so bad Do you have any ideas.
Move away from the source of interference causing the hum.
hey there, ive installed mine, plugged it into an interface and there's no sound. Does this need phantom power or etc...
Hi BobSaget, I haven't tried plugging this into an audio interface, but I suspect that you may be right - it may need phantom power to get it to register. Let us know if you figure it out. Thanks for watching.
needs no phantom, it needs gain :c, if it doesnt catch sound it might not be working
Same thing..:( have you found the solution yet??
@@filamadventure no es de que necesita preamplificar?

Awful pick up, So much noise I cannot use it.
Shit for me as well. It is buzzing even louder then the music i record. Seems like i won't be able to record😔
@@arya6716 It feels like these sub standard items should be discontinued. I write to them with no luck as Id bought it second hand but it was new in the packaging. Unhelpful to expect to upgrade. Not to this brand. My other videos i use another it is much sweeter. Best still I like a microphone sound for best acoustic s.
