    Are you looking for the Best Pickup with the Best Affordable Price for your Acoustic Guitar?
    ✅Overview
    The Skysonic T902 is a product of the Skysonic Musical Instrument Company that was established in 2012 in Guangdong, China. The company is a comprehensive trading company offering a wide variety of guitar pickups, tuners and amplifiers. They have already quite made a name for themselves in China, Japan, South Korea and other Southeast Asian Music Community.
    The Skysonic T902 package contains a manual, a mini zip lock plastic bag containing the warranty card, a CR2032 3V Lithium button battery, 2 buckles with 3M tape, and a strap leather with harness, and finally the Skysonic T902 Pickup with the end pin jack.
    The Skysonic T902 is an active two source acoustic guitar pickup - the sources being the magnetic pickup and the mini condenser microphone. Now, what does active pickup mean? An Active pickup is basically a unit that runs on a battery. Looking at the sources, the magnetic pickup is focused on capturing the sounds coming from the strings and it uses the humbucker system to protect the pickup by reducing the external noises. On the other hand, the mini condenser microphone is used to collect the sounds produced when you are tapping the acoustic guitar body. The volumes of both pickup sources can be adjusted and mixed depending on your preferred sound output. The pickup itself can be used on Acoustic Guitars with a 90-105mm sound holes.

    I got one of these in a Tanglewood acoustic i just got and this is by far one of the best sounding pickups for under $100 around. I got mine for $50 shipped. Im plugging mine into a Acoustic 30watt amp. I find 40% volume on the mic and 50% on the pickup sounds really good. I have ZERO complaints and for the $ ! Cant go wrong.

    Very nicely done. The 902 is basically a copy of a Fishman blend. I have both, and the 902 is superior. The sound quality is about the same, but the battery change is better on the 902 (with the Fishman the batteries are the fiddly little ones often used in hearing aids, and the configuration has changed, so they don't fit will into position - mabye OK with newer models); also, with the 902 the mic and mag come with separate volume controls; the Fishman is just a mix control - you can't change the overall volume on board. Oh, yes, and the Fishman is about 4 times the price.

    Bought one of these for my Tanglewood a few weeks ago and have been really pleased with the performance so far. Initailly I had it as a temporary pickup but today I drilled out the endpin and installed it permanently. The humbucker pickup is very responsive and the output quite high compared to other guitars... lovely warm tones that reflect my guitars natural sound. 😊

    Whoa man, this is an amazing review! I have some question2 with regards to the pickup. 1. Does it reduce the natural 'loudness' of the sound itself when strumming not using the pickup? and 2. Have you tried comparing the sound of the pickup vs conventional microphones (dynamic, condenser), and which do you prefer in terms of guitar sound? Thank you

    • @patrickpunzalan5939
      @patrickpunzalan5939  2 года назад +7

      Hey man!
      I’m glad you found this review helpful. With regards to your questions, here are my inputs.
      1. For your first question, I think there was no difference in the natural sound loudness whether the pickup is attached in the soundhole or not. And if there is, It’s unnoticeable.
      2. For your second question, before I had this pickup, I used to record with my Audio Technica ATR2500 usb condenser mic. However, it broke down so instead of buying another condenser mic, I ought to buy this pickup instead. In terms of which is better in recording an acoustic guitar, condenser mics are the best as they will be able to capture the natural sound of the guitar... that is if your recording room is acoustically treated. If not, I find this pickup to be a good alternative as regardless of the condition of your room, the pickup should be able to capture your acoustic guitar to the most natural way it can, though some find it a bit too electronic in sound but you can fix that when you are already mixing and mastering your recording. You can also record your guitar using dynamic microphones but in my experience, it is a bit muffled and bassy in the recording as you need to place the mic nearer to your guitar, preferably pointed at the 12th fret. The recording will sound tiny and muffled. Dynamic mics are better for recording vocals and podcasts as you can place your mouth in the mic nearer.
      All in all, to summarize, if I were to prioritize the mics and pickup in recording your acoustic guitar, it would be in this order, consider first a condenser mic (if your room is acoustically treated), second this pickup and lastly a dynamic microphone.
      Hope this helps :)

    Nicely done. Just installed this same pickup on my Furch and it sounds amazing. Q: does the battery continue draining if the guitar remains plugged into the amp even though the amp is turned off?

    • @patrickpunzalan5939
      @patrickpunzalan5939  2 года назад

      I think the pickup drains the battery even when its not plugged in but only at a very small percentage.
      In my case, I only plug-in my guitar for about 3-4 hours in my audio interface (because I record and monitor about 4-5 times a month) and the battery is still working even after a year. As of now, my guitar playing is only part time. But then again, doing the math, if you are a full time musician and you do use this pickup for a lot of gigs, I estimate that the batteries will last about 3-4 months.
      It wouldn’t hurt if you have an extra set of battery lying around. The battery for this pickup is super affordable.

    • @ctcards2636
      @ctcards2636 Год назад

      YEs. The battery drains if a cable is plugged in. Has nothing to do with if the amp is on or off. When you plug the cable in the tip activates the battery.

      I don’t think so since it is a magnetic pickup and it requires steel strings. I think the mic component of this pickup will be able to pickup the strings but not fully.
      Perhaps you can try a pickup or pickup mic that is designated specifically for a nylon stringed guitar.
      I believe this is only recommendable for Steel String Acoustic Guitar :)

      Hey Man!
      I bought it in shopee here in the Philippines. You can check out the link in the description.
      You can also try in Amazon, Ali Express or Lazada.
      As for the skysonic a-710, I dont have one. What I researched is that its a passive pickup, meaning it don’t need any batteries to run. As for the sound quality, you can try to search other demo or reviews in youtube then compare it with my demo in this video to see which sounds better to you. The only drawback if you will choose skysonic a710 is that it wont capture the tapping of your guitar if you do percussive fingerstyle playing. It only captures the vibration of the guitar strings.
      As for what to get and what is cheaper, it really comes down to the purpose and what fits your guitar playing... what sounds better to you.

    Sir ano pinagkaiba nila ng t 903 at sino mas modelo?

    • @patrickpunzalan5939
      @patrickpunzalan5939  2 года назад

      hey! In terms of function, they’re pretty much the same. Both have magnetic pickup and a condenser microphone. The main differences are the design, the condenser mic placement and the adjustable screw pickups on the T-903. The condenser mic on the T-903 model is located underneath the pickup whereas the T-902’s is protruded.
      In terms of Sound Quality, I believe they are pretty much the same. In price, the T903 is more expensive.
      Which is better? I can’t say as I only have the T-902.
      Thanks.

      Hi There.
      Yes it is still working as awesome as the day I received it. I’ve had it since November 29 of last year 2020, so that is almost 8 months.
      The quality is still the same. I use it for my online gigs and music recording. Amazingly, the cr2032 battery it uses still operates up until today. But I got spare batteries in case it runs out.
      So yes it is still working and the quality is the same.
