I got one of these in a Tanglewood acoustic i just got and this is by far one of the best sounding pickups for under $100 around. I got mine for $50 shipped. Im plugging mine into a Acoustic 30watt amp. I find 40% volume on the mic and 50% on the pickup sounds really good. I have ZERO complaints and for the $ ! Cant go wrong.
Bought one of these for my Tanglewood a few weeks ago and have been really pleased with the performance so far. Initailly I had it as a temporary pickup but today I drilled out the endpin and installed it permanently. The humbucker pickup is very responsive and the output quite high compared to other guitars... lovely warm tones that reflect my guitars natural sound. 😊
Very nicely done. The 902 is basically a copy of a Fishman blend. I have both, and the 902 is superior. The sound quality is about the same, but the battery change is better on the 902 (with the Fishman the batteries are the fiddly little ones often used in hearing aids, and the configuration has changed, so they don't fit will into position - mabye OK with newer models); also, with the 902 the mic and mag come with separate volume controls; the Fishman is just a mix control - you can't change the overall volume on board. Oh, yes, and the Fishman is about 4 times the price.
Hi Man! I don’t think so since it is a magnetic pickup and it requires metal strings. Perhaps you can try a pickup or pickup mic that is designated specifically for a nylon stringed guitar.
Whoa man, this is an amazing review! I have some question2 with regards to the pickup. 1. Does it reduce the natural 'loudness' of the sound itself when strumming not using the pickup? and 2. Have you tried comparing the sound of the pickup vs conventional microphones (dynamic, condenser), and which do you prefer in terms of guitar sound? Thank you
Hey man! I’m glad you found this review helpful. With regards to your questions, here are my inputs. 1. For your first question, I think there was no difference in the natural sound loudness whether the pickup is attached in the soundhole or not. And if there is, It’s unnoticeable. 2. For your second question, before I had this pickup, I used to record with my Audio Technica ATR2500 usb condenser mic. However, it broke down so instead of buying another condenser mic, I ought to buy this pickup instead. In terms of which is better in recording an acoustic guitar, condenser mics are the best as they will be able to capture the natural sound of the guitar... that is if your recording room is acoustically treated. If not, I find this pickup to be a good alternative as regardless of the condition of your room, the pickup should be able to capture your acoustic guitar to the most natural way it can, though some find it a bit too electronic in sound but you can fix that when you are already mixing and mastering your recording. You can also record your guitar using dynamic microphones but in my experience, it is a bit muffled and bassy in the recording as you need to place the mic nearer to your guitar, preferably pointed at the 12th fret. The recording will sound tiny and muffled. Dynamic mics are better for recording vocals and podcasts as you can place your mouth in the mic nearer. All in all, to summarize, if I were to prioritize the mics and pickup in recording your acoustic guitar, it would be in this order, consider first a condenser mic (if your room is acoustically treated), second this pickup and lastly a dynamic microphone. Hope this helps :)

Nicely done. Just installed this same pickup on my Furch and it sounds amazing. Q: does the battery continue draining if the guitar remains plugged into the amp even though the amp is turned off?
I think the pickup drains the battery even when its not plugged in but only at a very small percentage. In my case, I only plug-in my guitar for about 3-4 hours in my audio interface (because I record and monitor about 4-5 times a month) and the battery is still working even after a year. As of now, my guitar playing is only part time. But then again, doing the math, if you are a full time musician and you do use this pickup for a lot of gigs, I estimate that the batteries will last about 3-4 months. It wouldn’t hurt if you have an extra set of battery lying around. The battery for this pickup is super affordable.

@@vladacoustic89 I think you wont be able to buy this product sa mga musical stores such as JB music, RJ, Yamaha and others sa malls (kasi I tried)
8:33 mark pala yung nakamix yung pickup and mic for percussion.
Nakabili lang ako sa Shopee :) I shared in the description of this video the link of the shop where I bought it. So far after 5 months, working fine naman siya sa pinagbilhan ko. Ok naman ang seller :)
@@patrickpunzalan5939 oo nga po lods, nag hanap dn ako sa malls wala tlga😥

Hey there, I wanted to ask you how the pick up is doing nowadays. Is it still working perfectly fine? Are there any problems with the sound which appeared ? Are you still using it?
Hi There.
Yes it is still working as awesome as the day I received it. I’ve had it since November 29 of last year 2020, so that is almost 8 months.
The quality is still the same. I use it for my online gigs and music recording. Amazingly, the cr2032 battery it uses still operates up until today. But I got spare batteries in case it runs out.
So yes it is still working and the quality is the same.
Cheers! Favor! Please do subscribe to my channel!
@@patrickpunzalan5939 I have ordered mine from AliExpress already 😀. Thank you for your feedback on this pickup. The sound is clear indeed
@@bogdangrund3913 welcome!
@@patrickpunzalan5939 I am just curious about the end pin jack. How can I drill it without damaging the guitar, also what size I need. Did you do this on your own?
@@bogdangrund3913 Hi Man. Yes I drilled it on my own. You may check the video description on this as I placed the official skysonic website for the materials you will need. :)
God bless u
To you as well :)
Ito ba yung nabibili sa shopee na china shop
Yes
ayos na ayos sir
gano katagal malowbat battery?
It’s been 10 months and the battery is still ok. Maybe because I rarely use it about 4-5 times a month.
@@patrickpunzalan5939 wow. good replacement sa onboard pick up. Maraming salamat sir.
Great review, Sir Patrick! I'm considering installing this pickup system connected to a Shadow e-sonic pre amp system for better sound control.
Thanks for the extensive review. It helped me a lot. Subbed! 😊
Thank you! Very much appreciated :)
Yup! It's possible. Actually, the endpin jack is a strap lock itself. That's where I pin my guitar strap. You can check it out for yourself.
Ganda ng tunog sayang mukhang hndi papasok sa ukulele
