Fishman NEO-D Single Coil Acoustic Guitar Pickup Review

Can this pickup be used on a left handed guitar?

yes but it has to be mounted toward the bridge in order to have proper sound its not a unverseal pickup its directional .

I currently bought this Pickup online from EBay. The listing also came with a Fishman Tuner and Martin Retro Strings. Upon using the Humbucker Pickup, some pedals ( Such as distortion ) didn’t really..... appear as bright as I thought it would. I’m still considered a beginner and was just wanting to get an Acoustic Electric without busting the bank. Do the type of strings used affect the pickup?

ok so here is the deal acousitc guitars are not made for effects pedals other then chours and reverb and delay but thats it anythign else will sound like crap , a true electrric guitar is a different beast , the main idea of putting a pickup in an acoustic guitar is to just give it the ability to be amplified in a large area like a bar or church coffeeshop where they allow guitar players etc. other wise thats it other then the effects i mentioned that will work you also need and acoustic amp for an acoustic electric as well..

can this pickup connect directly to soundcard? or it needs a preamp?

i have had it hooked into my imac with the Irig Hd any none active pickups need some sort of preamping this is a passive pickup just plug into any amp and your ready to rock or hook into a guitar interface with your computer and your ready to go the other advantge of this pick up is its safe to plug into any amp at least this has been my experience with it but you will get feedback if your cranked to high of volume and to close to the amp same goes for any guitar pick up

How would this work with a 12 strings? Would either the single coil or Humbucker work fine?

in theroy it should work just fine i dont own a 12 string but it should work fine only way to know is to try it

well thats a good question so the simple answer is try it and if you dont like it take it back if the store offers you a return ability.. we dont all like the same thing but i will say this the best sound it is going to give you will be with a proper acoutic amp or and amp with and acoutic preamp like the katana series 50 or 100 watt amps

Can you run the wire through the inside of the guitar when hooking it up, instead of it hanging outside?

only if you mod it like i did and put on a female 1/4 jack in the guitar requires drilling a hole and a jack and you have to cut the cable and solder the wires in the right polarity to the jack

A magnetic pick up won't work with nylons , there is no steel in nylon .
