I use a Marshall AS100D acoustic guitar/vocal amp. The sound is very rich, warm and professional. The onboard effects are sparse but all of a high quality and very useable. It's also easy to use. Once I got this, all my other amps went out the window! The AS100D is a classic amp in the making and a must for any singer/player who want's the best but without breaking the bank. I loved the TAC Family story. Having only plunked around on a guitar that I purchased in 1972 and never really learned how to play, I began lessons at a local shop in October 2020. After about seven lessons now I have kept myself encouraged by recognizing all the small victories in my progress. This year has been difficult for all of us, with many of us in near seclusion because of the Big Beer Bug of 2020, so we need to do everything we can to stay encouraged. I'm surprised ya made no mention of the Boss Acoustic Singer series of acoustic amps. I bought the Boss Acoustic Singer Pro which is 120 watts and costs $780. This amp for both acoustic instruments and vocals is nothing short of stellar. And in addition to the supplied "A & B" footswitch that controls the vocal harmonies and looper/overdub features, I also use the Boss GA-FC foot switch ( 6 buttons ) and run both foot switches for total control of the amp. HIGHLY recommended. One issue worth mentioning: for anyone using one of these Boss Acoustic Singer amps ( several models/sizes ) I warn against using a Shure SM58 microphone, because they sound "boomy & muddy" through these amps. Instead, use a Sennheiser e835 microphone and watch/listen to these amps spring to life!!! I've relied on several Shure SM58's ran through my PA systems over the years, and they are tried & true workhorse mic's......but for some reason, they don't work so well with these amps.

Just bought an acoustic amp and discovered this video. Thank you so much for the vid, it has been monumentally helpful for me as virtually a complete novice and still very much a beginner guitar player. SOOO true about the amp helping you identify things to work on !! Loved Cath's story too ! Very inspirational, and I wonder how many of us share a similar story...
Tony I can’t explain to you how much this video help me dial in great tone and sound with my Fishman Loudbox Artist Amp. Learning how to manage the sound that best suits my guitars has given me a new outlook on 2 of my guitars. My Taylor 214ce sounds great through this Amp after watching this video. Also my Martin GPCPA4R (man, that’s a mouth full) also sound terrific. I was have some issues with it. This video again has this Guitar sounding awesome with this Amp. My D-28 and D-18 sound great as they are. Thanks for all you do for us locked in Guitar Geeks. It’s been almost a year since COVID has had us Old Guys staying home for the most part. Without my Guitars and running I just may have lost my mind. Again thanks for everything. Oh yeah the Open Tuning Video also was great.
And for Christmas, my youngest gave me a Looper Pro Guitar Effector Leakto Looper (foot pedal) Station. It's going to take some work, but I hope to loop a bridge & verse, play that while I switch to a fiddle, then singing back at the chorus. It came early with the donor due to COVID.
I use a Fender Acoustasonic 150, light weight, powerful for both channels, nice effect selection. Have played in Pub settings and in larger auditorium and it handles the room sizes with little effort.
First time I watched and I absolutely love what you are doing!!! The piano player that had a stroke was really great to watch!!! Music 🎶 is everything!!!! Thanks much, John Kringstad
It is good to point out the power of music, at any level. In my humble opinion music can be all that life is. Slow, fast, complicated...easygoing! To be able to just play and feel good doing it is a gift in itself. Thanks!!

Good info on tweeking acoustic amps. One thing I didn't see in the video or in the comments is that the AER Compact 60 is also a fantastic vocal amp that comes with phantom power. Works well for solo gigging or in a small combo.
Tony, a other great show! As a viewer that has been with you from the beginning, it has been interesting to see the arc of the show and how it has evolved. These days it is much more streamlined and has shifted to focus mostly on TAC members. Not saying that's bad - just different. I definitely miss things like the mail bag and 'you know you're a guitar geek when...' segments, as well as others, but there's a lot of good content developing. As always, looking forward to seeing what comes next.
I agree, Daddio307! I miss the laughter, the jokes, and truthfully I miss Noah and Levi. I know, I know, Noah is helping his wife with their new business venture in daycare, and Levi still comes around to help in the background once in a while. I’m waxing poetic now, but you know what I mean.
Hello I have just got the Spark amplifier from positive grid. I have two questions. 1- have you tried this amplifier and your review of it for acoustic guitars 2- tips and tricks for this amplifier you think would be helpful for acoustic guitar players.
VicktoreBeskor, I have been reading a lot of reviews about this amp and I’m seriously considering buying it. Let me know how you are getting along learning how to use it. I figured I don’t own an amp yet but I want to have a Swiss Army knife amp that can work for both electric and acoustic.
@@vwbeetle72jellybeen hello i am really enjoying the amp so far mind you i am just a beginner at guitar so i really don't know much but i can see that this was good for me. i don’t plan on being in a band just playing around the house and friends houses so it is going to work out great.
Tony, I’m not even an average player but I have an Amp like one of yours, the AER Compact Mobile 60. Not fully used though. So I had the 6V batteries removed and bought a Larivee and an Ovation to match it.

I dearly love my Fender Acoustasonic 30(w/DSP ) Has a fine sound and the mic side has great effects as well wonderful vocal attributes. I found in about 3 months old from the sister of a musician friend who suddenly passed away, Paid about $200.00 for it. Continues to play so well as look and sound well. The whole line of Fender acoustic amps are getting better and reasonable, including their new line. They range from about $100 to over $600 like the one similar to your example. The Marshall acoustics are nothing to sneeze at either.
Always enjoy your vids but I’d say the question of gain on an acoustic amp is kind of confusing for anyone who’s only getting into it - I’ve always found that the trick is to make the input signal exactly as you want it and then turn up the output (main volume) - this means you can use your guitar preamp to add gain/colour as required. Just a thought - thanks for another chilled acoustic session 😀
Really like my Fishman Loudbox mini. The chorus effect sounds great. Came with a Shure mic and xlr cable. Please talk to us sometime about fighting feedback. That part must have been edited out of this episode.
you touch on alot here, accents your mistakes and highlites your progress. also you may discover some small lics in between chord changes that give you that AHA moment!
Ive got a Carvin acoustic amp. I’m not a big fan. It seems to kill all the air of any acoustic plugged in. I dont use it much but when I do I wish I had something else
You asked what acoustic amps I have? I have a Centaur A440 that I got in the late '90's and a recently acquired Roland AC-33. I use the Centaur when I can conveniently plug in to mains power and the battery powered Roland when I can't. P.S. love seeing a D-35 in your hands. My D-35 was my first Martin, bought new in '72 with proceeds from an insurance settlement on a fire in my parents' house that had immolated my original student model Harmony arch top and Kay electric. It's got 49 years of bumps, bruises, repairs, tweaks and my mojo in it now, and is gettin' quite respectable as it ages. 👍 😁 💕 🎶
Hi Tony. I don't know if you will see this or not but it's worth a try. I have a Boss Acoustic Singer amp and I wanted to ask a question. With my parlor guitar that has a Baggs Hi Fi Pickup in it the bass strings are just obnoxious. What I tried was turning down the treble, bass and mids. It barely helped. But doing that with a very light attack and a light pick it's a bit better. Just wanted to ask what you thought about it? Thank You.
In this day and age a lot of acoustic guitars have EQ in the guitar. Is it best to leave that flat and adjust EQ at the amp or vice versa or tweak EQ in the guitar and the amp
I have a Roland ac60. Don't use it live though. I play live regularly. When we gig live I use 2 different preamps set for 2 different guitars. My main guitar is a D28 with a K&K. I run that through a BBE acoustimax preamp. My secondary guitar is a Martin GPCPA1 which has the Fishman Aura F1 pickup. I run this through the LR Bags Venue preamp. Both preamps go direct to PA. Both sound great for different reasons. One thing universal for both preamps is that the mids are cut way back. If you have everything at 12 o'clock and cut the mids by 75%, that's a good start. If you have a Taylor with an ES system, may God have mercy on your soul. Good luck.
I got a Roland KB550 because I use bass through it too. I recently put a Mooer Radar IR loader with a Martin IR, seems to work. Often I have my bass pedal board with chorus, Octave, reverb, chorus, Optical Compressor and overdrive (light) and a programable EQ (source audio) I buy pedals that work full range. The bass and Acoustic are both active.
I frickin’ love my beat up old Genz-Benz Shenandoah 100 for live gigs. Guitar and vocals in one unit. I have considered purchasing the new Genzler array pro to have as a back up if the 100 should ever die. Curious to know if you have had any experience with the Gens Benz or the Genzler amps.
I play a Taylor 224CE Koa Deluxe through a Marshall AS50D in our church. The amp is then fed to our house PA system via XLR. My Taylor has a 2 band EQ and so does the Marshall with a Low/High, however no Mid. It does have an adjustable notch filter for removing feedback. I've struggled on how to adjust the EQ. Should I do it at the guitar or at the amp or both? I typically find myself backing the Mid off but in this case I don't have a Mid adjustment. Any ideas?
Boss Katana works well for me and my application. Solo live gigs, small Church Praise and Worship. I play a Taylor acoustic electric with L.R. Baggs pedal.
I have one for my electric. I play acoustic through it when go to jams so I can use more effects. But it doesn't reproduce my acoustic tone as well as my Fishman
Hi... Enjoyed this Presentation for the 2nd time ! Both interesting and instructive. What a totally unexpected "Happy Ending" to the "vid"... Some Mates jamming together ! ...☘...
I currently have an older Ultrasound DS4 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp. It has two 8" speakers and provides excellent natural sound for my Taylor acoustic guitars. Seeing you were using a Mesa/Boogie Rosette Two, I think my Ultrasound provides a similar sound... but it does not have all the fine tuning the Mesa offers. But I bought used for $200 vs. a new Mesa for $1300!
You should also mention using a powered PA speaker. I’ve been through so many acoustic amplifiers and by far the best sounding is the PA speaker. I use a Bose S1Pro or Bose F1. So many options out there though that would be great choice. EV Evolve 30 is awesome.
I have a Boss acoustic live which replaced my Fishman loudbox mini. The Fishman was fantastic and definitely the best for finger picking and solos but I never could get a good sound for streaming. Besides it’s not so good for voice. The Boss is fantastic for both streaming and solos but also singing is a lot much better. Besides there are many effects like harmonizing voices and guitars. It’s great and very easy to use. Finally the cherry on the cake is the looper. Only 40 seconds buts it’s enough for allowing me doing solos in my gigs. It’s also very helpful when I work on a new song to record myself and listen to how it sounds immediately and in a very easy way. It can record the two channels voice and guitar. it's almost double the price of the Fishman but if you add all the boss effects that are integrated into the amp it's the same with the big difference you don't need to bother with lots of pedals and cables everywhere
Dear Tony, you mentioned a feedback checklist. However it is not in the video. You probably won't be able to manage feedback using the amps EQ without compromising the overall tone. Feedback occurs with very specific frequencies and you need a notch filter or parametric EQ, or graphic EQ to isolate them. On stage I use a feedback buster. It is like a rubber bath plug that fits in the guitars sound hole. It dampens the soundboard reducing resonance induced by the sound from the amplifier. Cheers mate. Love your work.
How shoul you set the under saddle pick up on the guitar? LR Baggs two rottary controls. A volume and a bass to treble. Would ever turn the volume switch, i.e to midway so you can turn up your amp gain?
Ive got a genz benz- my first acoustic amp- very nice amp- cost 350$. I found it to be a little to small for a band setting outside of rehersal. So i got a rumble 500. Its got a great eq and speaker- about 40 lbs takes pedals great, def gets enough volume when needed. I csn play anything through it, bass, electric, and of course acoustic. Also 350$
I have often thought that bass amps would make great acoustic guitar amplifiers because they usually have a tweeter whereas electric guitar amplifiers don’t.
@@im58woody the rumble is super versatile. Im a fan of clean amp tones mostly. Ill add delay or reverb. My electric has p90s so it gets a nice growl on it’s own when needed
Running a Taylor 814ce 2010 Es-1 using a fishman loudbox artist. Trying to decide for live gigs to mic the amp to the mixer mackie profx16 to a set of mackie thumps 215xt OR run the fishman into the mixer. Any suggestions. Was running tchelicon and seems like the chords g or c the sound modulates compared to a D or A chord also noticing while between songs at a gig a popping sound every now and then. So decided to switch back to the fishman amp and trying to decide if micing the amp or sending the signal from the fishman to the amp. Any suggestions would be welcomed! Even thought of selling the tchelicon for a boss v-8 but some bad reviews as well some say boss ve-500 vocal performer works on acoustics think that’s wrong for electric only. So would need both one for electric one for acoustic. Wish it would work for both because the boss ve-500 has good reviews for electric and would use on my casino. Thanks for the video and keep on jammin!

Beautiful show 😊
After years I understand 😄 thank you 😊
Some how I missed the part about feedback?
Me too!!!
Blackstar sonnet 120, clean, loud with amazing reverbs! This thing sounds big for such a small amp.
Thank you for the amp info. I always wondered how those things work.
Fishman Loudbox with battery. BECAUSE I can go to some of these elderly care facilities and not have to get the electronics tested
Damn wish I bought the one with battery :( I feel limited and would be much smoother to just bring it wherever

Have a Fishman loudbox mini and i love it, along with a K&K pickup and 1983 D73 Alvarez Yairi great combo!
Glad to find your channel! Good personality and lots of good info.
I use a Fender Acoustasonic 150, light weight, powerful for both channels, nice effect selection. Have played in Pub settings and in larger auditorium and it handles the room sizes with little effort.
Great video,,,set tone..and Kathy's for sure. Awesome,play enjoy..
Thanks!!
Excellent video, thanks for posting.
This is not just a simple tutorial. Great video, very inspiring. Thank you. Support from 🇵🇭
I have a Fender Acoustasonic 100 amp and feel it gives really life-like sound. It's relatively small and has simple controls. Highly recommended!
As50D Marshall Hope I get it right now.Thanks Bro.❤❤
SWR California Blonde! Great amp.
SWR is awesome but Heavy to tote around
Great show Tony thank you!
Thanks for a great acustic tuesday!
Thank you for clearly explaining the acoustic amp. I learned a lot. The added videos and stories are priceless. Be blessed and peace to all.
Thoughts on the Fender Acoustic Junior Go?
Good amp.
I love mine! Also love being able to play it without having to have power to plug it in. Comes in handy sometimes.
Tony, another excellent episode. I am a TAC and FW follower and enjoy all levels of your instruction method. Thanks..
My Martin HD28V sounds great w/o any external preamp through my Roland ac90 Chorus. Don't overlook this older but great acoustic amp.
The last clip of the man playing the keyboards to me the friends that came n the Trumpter that blew that Trumpet to encourage him is the beauty in friendship thru music . May God bless him with a speedy recovery 🙏🙏🎶🌷
Oh I own 2 acoustic amps an Bose L1 compact with Bluetooth, it’s light enough to get to a open mic. My other is also a Bose L1 1s it’s has a what I call a half base unit . Both unit is plug into a Bose Tone Match I love these units cos I don’t know n care for feedback .
Good info on tweeking acoustic amps. One thing I didn't see in the video or in the comments is that the AER Compact 60 is also a fantastic vocal amp that comes with phantom power. Works well for solo gigging or in a small combo.
Looking forward to next (this) week. More what I started watching for...
Ya I really miss those early shows too
I agree, Daddio307! I miss the laughter, the jokes, and truthfully I miss Noah and Levi. I know, I know, Noah is helping his wife with their new business venture in daycare, and Levi still comes around to help in the background once in a while. I’m waxing poetic now, but you know what I mean.
Loved the info on amps, I have a Peavey viper so I can use it with all my guitars.
Playing solo thru a Crate Acoustic 125D and Boss VE8. My Guild OM120 has never sounded so at home for my playing. Vocals sound fantastic too.
Fishman Loudbox Artist. This video helped me a lot.
I love that deep bass sound like your playing in a huge stadium or something like a Travis Tritt sound
Hello I have just got the Spark amplifier from positive grid. I have two questions.
1- have you tried this amplifier and your review of it for acoustic guitars
2- tips and tricks for this amplifier you think would be helpful for acoustic guitar players.
I have a kinsman kaa45 just got it for the bedroom .thank you for your help Colin UK 🇬🇧 🙏
Tony, I’m not even an average player but I have an Amp like one of yours, the AER Compact Mobile 60. Not fully used though. So I had the 6V batteries removed and bought a Larivee and an Ovation to match it.
Thanks Tony, I look forward to your acoustic Tuesday shows and kinda wish you had one for every day of the week 🤣
I don’t have an acoustic amp yet but I’ll take all your suggestions into consideration.
Thanks again 🤙
You prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..?
I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me
@Apollo Ali Instablaster :)
@Quinton Armani i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hi,
I''m playing acoustic guitar and singing (badly). I do have Fender 212R but now I'm thinking to buy acoustic amp. I don't use acoustic-electric guitar just a microphone (I have both dynamic and condense). I do thinking about this four amps but maybe you have better advice. I like some power (minimum 50W).
Fender Acoustic 100 Amplifier (100W)
Marshall AS50DV 50w Acoustic Instrument Amplifier
Boss Acoustic Singer Live LT Compact Acoustic Instrument Amp
Boss Acoustic Singer Live Amplifier Combo
Any advice?
Many thanks,
I dearly love my Fender Acoustasonic 30(w/DSP ) Has a fine sound and the mic side has great effects as well wonderful vocal attributes.
Happy New Year = I have a Fishman Loud box artist - managed to pick it up second hand - Wow what a difference - I play my Taylor 110e brillent
That's what I have. Paid $200 because the cover is tattered. I could recover it and double my investment but it's my main gigging amp
Really like my Fishman Loudbox mini. The chorus effect sounds great. Came with a Shure mic and xlr cable. Please talk to us sometime about fighting feedback. That part must have been edited out of this episode.
The soundhole plugs work WONDERS no more feedback I have a Fishman gt1 pickup and a Fishman loud box and the plug cured it for me 👌
Do you find that mic hard to deal with? I got the same deal and I find the mic to only pick me up if it's inside my mouth
you touch on alot here, accents your mistakes and highlites your progress. also you may discover some small lics in between chord changes that give you that AHA moment!
Sr Technology 150 plus - Think it is the best you Can get (and much more clear and hi-fi than the aer 60. Love everything SR Technology
Thank You.
Did I miss the feedback checklist that you teased?🙂
Good luck.
What amp was used when you were showing off the reverb? What it that Mesa?
Any ideas?
Picture on the 10:10 mark is epic! 🤘
Some Mates jamming together ! ...☘...
I love acoustic Instruments dude and this channel 2 Hope all is well
This was very helpful. You explained it clear and answered all the questions and problems I was having. Thank you.
I just picked up a DS4 as well! Just strummed through it last night and was impressed. Have you used this amp live?
Just got a Loudbox mini yesterday. Trying to figure it out
Frank Jackson.Thank you really enjoyed your lesson ..just about to buy a new amp .Been looking at a Fender 100. All the best from Thailand.
You should also mention using a powered PA speaker. I’ve been through so many acoustic amplifiers and by far the best sounding is the PA speaker. I use a Bose S1Pro or Bose F1. So many options out there though that would be great choice. EV Evolve 30 is awesome.
So agree! I have an EV Evolve 30 but just picked up a Bose S1Pro to use for small gigs and practices. Excited to try it out!
Acoustic a1000!! What are your thoughts on that amp?
Dear Tony, you mentioned a feedback checklist. However it is not in the video. You probably won't be able to manage feedback using the amps EQ without compromising the overall tone. Feedback occurs with very specific frequencies and you need a notch filter or parametric EQ, or graphic EQ to isolate them. On stage I use a feedback buster. It is like a rubber bath plug that fits in the guitars sound hole. It dampens the soundboard reducing resonance induced by the sound from the amplifier. Cheers mate. Love your work.
I have a pre amp built into my acoustic guitar. How do I set that up? How does that whole built in pre amp work in reference to eqing ?
Blackstar Sonnet 60 po prostu brzmienie gitary ale głośniej, tak się reklamuje i dokładnie tak brzmi. Jak dla mnie rewelacja ! Polecam.
I’m a huge Derringer fan!!!
I got the Fishman loudbox performer. Just got it today. No idea how to set it up yet EQ
I have a fishman loudbox mini, I love it!
Recently subscribed to this amazing channel and loving acoustic Tuesdays! Oh and that last clip of the gentleman playing the piano......I'm not crying you are 🥺! Great job Tony 👍
