Music sounds like from an entirely different game. It does look pretty. Hoping the developers take it as best as they can
It just sounds like a generic and completely random music choice. Not like atmospheric game music at all.

I was being cautiously optimistic about this one and am glad I was cautious! Hopefully some of these issues can potentially be fixed up baldo style and be featured in an all patched up
Nothing could’ve prepared me for a VOCAL track like that that plays while exploring the overworld. That’s like game design 101. Save that 💩 for the cutscene at the end of the game after I’ve become the mightiest Oni and succeeded at keeping the game from being chucked out a window.
I was laughing so much at the music section.🤣 I was not expecting that at all given the vibe of the game. What were they thinking?!😐 What I love about this channel is how honest you guys are. No bs or sugarcoating flawed games. It gives you credibility and potentially saves a lot of us money. Keep up the great work
All they had to do was have some lo-fi shamisen music in the background. Aesthetically, it's gorgeous. I wish Pokemon Arceus had closer to that style with the bolder lines and colors. I can even ignore the invisible walls, but the music is painful. T_T

Oof...that's rough buddy 😅 I think I saw a more favourable review for the game, but I really see your point here. I actually hate escape sequences with my entire being, so I'm glad you mentioned them. I think I'm still gonna keep an eye out, cause there's just so much potential, but if this is what we get...I guess I'll rather use the 30€ for something else
I love the art style, I hope you help them to have what I know called "the Baldo" effect and maybe on a sale it will be better

I saw the trailer for this and all the comments were like WOW SUCH GOOD MUSIC! And im over here screaming my lungs out "Are you kidding me right now?" The game and its music clash so hard

Well that sucks, but hopefully we'll hear about it again in a few months in an "all patched up" video with a happier ending!

If you're looking for outstanding music both at ambiance and the rest of the game in general you should try Spiritfarer. I keep returning for the feels and that soundtrack is certainly a big part of it. Great work SU guys as always!
Second this. I got Spiritfarer just because of the visuals and what little gameplay I saw and honestly it's a stunningly beautiful game, artstyle, music, and story wise.
Its a very ugly game though
Cult of the lamb is a much better version of spiritfarer

That's so funny. When the video started, I was like: weird choice for soundtrack they went for when editing. But I thought it might be a free song and that you guys couldn't use the real soundtrack from the game for some copyright issue. 😂

Glad to hear your thoughts. I was also intrigued based on the art style and the promise "simpler" action type game(no brutal souls like combat). But there are so many quality experiences and games that suit me personally to spend my time on a "meh" one that costs $40 CAD...
But it seems the dev team could make a good game... there's some solid bones here.

At least you could turn off the music. Xenoblade Chronicles X, I remember had these wonky placed/used music that you couldn't turn off. and the characters constantly repeat 1 liners, with no 'Audio options' in anywhere in the game.
Such an annoying game design choice.

Had my eyes on this one too Mark (even pre-ordered) but I took a step back and thought about it since I was like let’s just see 🧐 . . . good thing that paid off. I’m definitely glad you reviewed it nonetheless cause I agree and I think with some gameplay tweaks (and HARD look at adjusting the in-game music, I mean c’mon just some Japanese influenced instrumentals would’ve been welcome rather than . . . that 😣) it could prove to be a good pick up. But right now naaaaah 👍

The only thing that caught my attention about this game is the fact that the character designs are done by one of my favorite artists - Satoshi Matsuura. As for the gameplay, I have no idea if it's good, but there are barely enough reviews of it on metacritic and the few reviews that are done are giving just an average or below-average rating. So far it's not looking good. The only pros that I can see so far with this game is its art direction.

So once the first 5 hours are complete, does the song change from "It's only the Beginning" to something more akin to "Now you've reached the Middle?" You never know, might change someone's mind into purchasing...won't be me though.

It looked promising. But I'll pass on it, unless it's on offer for a few bucks. For something similar in style, I'd recommend "Yonder". Pretty little world, charming graphics, lots of sidequests. And no battles at all, if you don't mind that fact.

I bought this game on looks alone and the opening song had me pumped! Then I played it. Bland as can be, wasted potential and money on my end lol
Almost got the game because they got an artist that I love to make the visual style. But the game was too expensive. After the reviews came out I had to give up on it cause it really looks awful (not how it looks visually cause its beautiful)
