I just checked the driveshaft on my 2010 Tundra to grease it but there are no zerk fittings visible. Where the zero fittings are supposed to be there are covers. Am I supposed to remove those covers to expose the zero fittings?

I have a 2021 Tundra and the dealership told me there are zero grease points when I asked them to take care of it?. Is this true I'm happy to do the work myself if I can find these points

My grease joints have not been greased for soooooo long I can't get the grease to go into the zerk fitting. I think the best answer is probably to heat the zerk fitting up for a few seconds to loosen up the old caked up grease blocking the flow. What do you think?

I had that issue with a harbor freight grease pump but if you clean it off enough and just get a couple more grease fittings should be good

I bought my sequoia from someone that didn’t do their driveline service routinely so now I’m stuck with a bad ujoint. How hard are these things to replace, Yota Guy?
I do my own oil, brakes and suspension. I have basic handtools, impact gun, 3 1/2 ton floorjack. Any other tools needed to do this job? Or should I just take it into a shop?

I purchased a used '08 Tundra and the u-joints failed, because of the lack of lubrication. However, the Toyota dealer informed me that the replaced u-joints do not last. The assemblies are made of aluminum and when pressed out, ..."blow out" the aluminum, so they do go back together, but ultimately fail again. They recommended a complete drive shaft replacement. Given that the carrier bearing did not look good, I went ahead and did it. I had not heard about the issue with the aluminum u-joint ends being aluminum.

You can buy specific aluminum u-joints. However, these typically have an advisory on them that they are only to be used with aluminum drive shafts. Most all quality u-joints, like the ones made by Moog and AC Delco, are steel.

@@jasonbarnes5282 ....Interesting, because my Tundra is an extended (8') bed and has an aluminum drive shaft.

Dealer said: Those ujoints aren't serviceable. Me: Follow me. (Points around the rear tire where you can see the zerk fitting on the rear ujoint) Then I guess some prankster glued zerks on all the ujoints on this truck? Dealer: ...oh....wow... Me: Yeah. So let's get 'em greased up.

Hey bro I got a 2018 and my u joints are sealed however I noticed on my carreier bearing mount the bolts are positioned super far forward (toward engine not differential) I unbolted and reboltes same issue to the point I had to leverage the mount to get the bolts through. Thoughts? Thinking axle wrap

How do I grease a 2wd tundra with no grease fitting? I’m getting a thump when I press and release the brakes and it seems like with the 4wd tundras the thump goes away after they lube the drive shaft. I’ve checked everywhere twice and can’t find any fittings on mine.

@@mattreinshagen6240 after doing lots of research I came to the conclusion that the 2wd 1st gen tundras don’t have grease fittings on the driveshafts.
I fixed the thump by tightening the bolts from the transmission mounts to the cross member. They were all loose and torqued like 15ft lbs from factory which is way too low. I think Toyota updated it to 25ft lbs and the thumping went away after I retorqued them.

@deegaw11 bro i have a 07 tundra 4.7L 2WD and 65% of the time i let my foot off the brake from a complete stop i feel a soft jerk BEFORE i even lay my foot on the gas. I assumed it’s the slip yoke. Tired of this problem. You think it’s my slip yoke?

@@PracticalPostMan_FLA I have a first gen and I fixed the issue by tightening the bolts from the transmission mount to the cross member. They were all loose. Been good since. Not sure about the 2nd gen tundra but you can check and see if they’re loose.
