I remember when I was arguably too young for these games, and I played GTA Vice City in a friends home, I would put myself an hour limit 'cause when I played too much I would end up so pumped up with it that I had issues to sleep later in the night. It was a terrific but incredibly enjoyable feeling just being dumb in such a great sandox.
I remember playing GTA III at a friends birthday party. They would go on rampages till they died, then it would be the next person's turn. They had to set a 5 minute timer for me because I'll I wanted to do was just drive around.
Really makes you wonder what happened. R* used to be a venerable dream factory. I remember I was "too young" for GTA, so I got Bully instead. To this day, I can still recall the names to most of the students.
8:18 “no one has seen it before”? There was a racing game called FlatOut released all the way back in 2004 that featured insane and realistic physics/damage and it also featured shooting the driver out of the window at high velocity impact
I would write a giant paragraph about why GTA 4 and the Yakuza game series are my favourite games but then I'd forget what I was writing halfway through , Just know that they both have a ton of things you can do at your own leisure, you can almost interact with a lot of places (in the new games thanks to the newer engine), both have fun characters to play as and the only thing that Yakuza has over GTA? Karaoke!
Honestly rockstar was awesome. Made so many memories and even with gta 5 they were so ambitious but then they did gta online and it was like a gateway drug to corporate greed which has over taken them and turned them into darkness of it which has over taken them.
It's just time to move on. Such is life. You lose friends, make new ones, lose touch with those friends as well, move, get a job, start a family etc etc. Time to move on from rockstar and remember it fondly for all the good memories. Same way we remember our childhood friends, the people that enriched our lives at some point or another.

Little things like that just push it to the top for me and I'm really hoping GTA VI has some similar features.
Wish we could go back to the golden days of Rockstar Games Edit- Another great thing is that every student in Bully is unique and feels real and relatable to the point that they actually feel like your actual classmates
It's not only every student, every single NPC in Bully is atleast named and unique, given that the story takes place in a relatively small town and nobody gets killed its to be expected that you run into the same people commonly. It's really a shame that we will never have a sequel.
Always loved playing GTA 4, it surprisingly showed at the age of 13 that life is a complicated thing and that there is no American dream and if there is then it's very greedy and lonely.

You are not the only person that liked the driving in GTA IV. Vehicle physics and Euphoria are my favorite things in the entire series. I loved GTA IV.
I think these videos do a great job of showing why so many of us are so critical of Rockstar's recent decisions. We know that they can and have made masterpiece after masterpiece but as I and everyone else knows there's not enough competition for them to be motivated to keep it up. I also liked what I imagine was a reference to the hive from the Resident Evil series at 23:04.

@@little-rat-tim I meant that you can't save the cheats themselves in a list. You can still enter phone cheats in GTA V but you have to type out the entire number each time, GTA IV used to save them in a list which made your phone feel like a built in mod menu.
I will never forget playing GTA 2 on the PlayStation, that's how my relationship with Rockstar got started. Classic top down view, finding the tank on the top of the building. man good old days It's crazy to see what the Rockstar has turned into and how they really changed with the generations
My first rockstar game was gta 3 and have been a fan ever since. Even with rockstars issues I still think they are probably unbeatable when it comes to attention to detail, physics, gameplay and also story. To this day not many devs at all can have all this in their game all at once without one suffering over the other. Even rockstars latest game rdr2 still shows that the devs still put so much detail and love into their games whenever they release something.
Yes their quality of games is incredible and unbeatable, but they destroy the games by adding useless and annoying things nobody ever wanted. Then they’re also very greedy, just look at the Sharkcard prices. In Germany you get 100.000 credits for 2,49€. All the new content is overpriced and especially as a new player it’s hard to get started. They have great games that they destroy by greediness.
The first Rockstar game was GTA 4. The game was my childhood. I remember my half bro playing the game, and handing me the controller to play. I didn't understand anything. Now I'm 18, a decade or so after I played the game, and I still come back to GTA 4, to relive my childhood. To relive the world that I ended up enjoying so much. My half brother passed away 5 years ago, and the one thing I remember is me and him reenacting one of the ending scenes in GTA 4. I am going to keep going for him, and I am going to keep playing the game that he introduced me to, and I instantly fell in love with.
Hey DarkSpace I actually really liked the songs you included at the end of your vids. Don't let some people telling you that it's cringey get you down. I think they are very nice and speak to your hard work and dedication. The message is there, but you won't please everyone with the music. people have different tastes is all. Keep it up king
25 minutes and it still felt like you only scratched the surface throughout the video i was going like "OH you should mention this and what about that did you also know this about that??" which just made me realise how grateful i am for everything R* had done up to a CeRtAin point in time
Honestly man your videos are on another level of quality! The visualisation and animations in between with the nice structured topic. Mmhmm! Awesome job
Yeah, some of the rockstar games are epic forever, they are the mirror of the good old rockstar, I hope rockstar can see this video and realize how good their games are, how much fun they had bought to people and I hope they can bring back all of the joy
As someone who never really enjoyed having parts of the map locked off until you do a number of main quests, I thoroughly enjoyed being able to go literally anywhere in GTA V. You could go from Los Santos to Sandy Shores to Paleto with no restrictions and explore 90% of the map, and even go right up Mt Chiliad if you chose to. Earlier GTA games, you COULD go to other parts of the map but your wanted level would always make it extremely risky if you happened to get past any barriers and weren't in a train or place virtually inaccessible for NPCs. And then GTA V came along and the map restrictions were gone, you could go anywhere and even visit places that were part of the campaign before you kicked it off. And the physics were definitely an upgrade from GTA 4, those physics also being an upgrade to earlier games as well. Vehicle physics and the return of customization options were amazing.
Yeah I remember finding the map restrictions annoying as a kid, today I don't really mind them but I understand why they got rid of them. The physics got downgraded pretty hard though.
@@TheBloopers30 Same. And although the physics got downgraded, the vehicles no longer feel like boats like they did in GTA 4. That was the main issue for me.
@@dweller132 Yeah I've heard a lot of people say that. I personally like it but wouldn't mind if they toned it down a bit. I feel like GTA V toned it down way too much though, still fun to drive around but you just don't get the sense of weight like you did in GTA IV.
@@TheBloopers30 I guess it’s so it’s more easier to learn for newer players, like if Rockstar’s motto was to embrace the rising video game medium, they’d know that many would flock to their newest title, GTA V, and tried making it easier. Afterwards, when they release a new title, presumably if VI actually does come out, they’ll know that many new fans already know what to expect, and could make the driving gradually harder in their newest title.

11:25 the part where you say “or do what you don’t least once playing gta “follow the traffic laws “ made me genuinely happy cos whenever I can play gta I least try to follow the traffic laws it’s like a fun little challenge for me! it should lowkey be a trophy achievement just for even trying that it’s sad to see rockstar games is where it gets a today I grew up with rockstar games I’ve loved gta since 3/ San Andreas but my fav was gta Chinatown seeing how good they USED to be just makes me sad tbh I appreciate this video sm thank you for this
I remember when I was arguably too young for these games, and I played GTA Vice City in a friends home, I would put myself an hour limit 'cause when I played too much I would end up so pumped up with it that I had issues to sleep later in the night.
It was a terrific but incredibly enjoyable feeling just being dumb in such a great sandox.
I know that feeling...its like blue balling your self😂😂😂😂
There's quite a few points he missed out on, hopefully they'll be addressed in Part 4
I would write a giant paragraph about why GTA 4 and the Yakuza game series are my favourite games but then I'd forget what I was writing halfway through ,
Just know that they both have a ton of things you can do at your own leisure, you can almost interact with a lot of places (in the new games thanks to the newer engine), both have fun characters to play as and the only thing that Yakuza has over GTA? Karaoke!
I should really check yakuza out
Not to mention, that San Andreas had 2 player mode. Incredible 🔥
Woo, I made it in. Was a pleasure to help!

Thanks for including me in the video, looking forward to part 2 :) - Clouwdy
it was an honor collaborating on this video, thanks for the title credit man!
I’m so happy I made it in! This video was masterfully done. Thanks Dark Space 👍
You were hilarious! Had to include it
Seigfried here! Thank you for having me it was a plasure to make!
@@Shushkin I can't really move on because there's nothing like rockstar. No one can make a game like rockstar. Some things cannot be replaced.
@@IskenderCaglarM41B441 Or you could give up gaming entirely.
@@Shushkin How? There are still tons of games for me to play.
this video is truly touching but so heartbreaking as well knowing how far rockstar has strayed. i truly hope some people at rockstar see this series and that it will somehow be able to warm some cold corporate greed ridden hearts.
I have so many great memories with GTA San Andreas not only was it the first GTA I'd ever played its hands down my favorite Grand Theft Auto of all time
I have memories and still play it to this day here and there (the original version).
@@jesperbottenheft I do as well I used to play it on my grandpa's PS2 all the time and I still occasionally play it and it still holds up fantastically today
That's me with 4, but I played SA since and it's right behind it for me
@@Jiub_SN For me a lot of what pushes San Andreas to the top (besides nostalgia) are the features that are either exclusive to SA or done the best in it such is the weight mechanic and having food affect your weight or being able to go to the gym or box. Little things like that just push it to the top for me and I'm really hoping GTA VI has some similar features.
Glad I could do an interview for this, video was great as always
that quote from Claude in the beginning of the video really hit close to home.

Off topic, u cant deny GTA 4 has one hell of a thing for tire smoke, its so bloody good looking especially on a blacked out muscle car yelling
Wish we could go back to the golden days of Rockstar Games
Edit- Another great thing is that every student in Bully is unique and feels real and relatable to the point that they actually feel like your actual classmates
the golden days of Rockstar was 2001-2018, that's 17 years of greatness in a row.
It's not only every student, every single NPC in Bully is atleast named and unique, given that the story takes place in a relatively small town and nobody gets killed its to be expected that you run into the same people commonly.
It's really a shame that we will never have a sequel.
@@lol-ih1tlI'd say 2013-prior to rdr2 release we're not golden years whatsoever
Every Rockstar character: *Has something to say in the intro*
CLAUDE: 🗿
Thanks for that awesome intro. It literally gave me goosebumps.
VERY underrated youtuber! Great job on these videos. I can tell a lot of effort goes into them.
Always loved playing GTA 4, it surprisingly showed at the age of 13 that life is a complicated thing and that there is no American dream and if there is then it's very greedy and lonely.
I will always remember that satisfying sound when you run someone over in GTA IV.
that sound of me bashing your skull with the heaviest rock

Aah you again
Mommy I'm on RUclips!
Thanks for the opportunity, Ocean! Listening to everyone else now, I really should've wrote a proper script lol. There were a lot more ideas I could've said. Anyways, great video as always! I hope you do more of this
You are not the only person that liked the driving in GTA IV. Vehicle physics and Euphoria are my favorite things in the entire series. I loved GTA IV.
Sheeesh I'm in a Dark Space video
Edit: Also the Midnight Club series had some real masterpieces
i liked driving in IV too. and vehicle damage. both were much better than in V
0:52 one of the most inspirational sentences claude has said
0:00 I actually liked the cell phone system in IV. I was very disappointed when it was nerfed in V.
In what way was the cell system nerfed in V?
@@paulbell3682 Can't save & access cheats through the phone anymore in story + no ability to put phone in sleep/silent mode in GTAO.
@@kingflippynips3102 you can save through the phone tho
Can't get custom ringtones in GTA V I remember you could buy them in 4 hell I actually miss the gps voice while you were in cars guiding you being you feel like you were driving it
@@little-rat-tim I meant that you can't save the cheats themselves in a list.
You can still enter phone cheats in GTA V but you have to type out the entire number each time, GTA IV used to save them in a list which made your phone feel like a built in mod menu.
Thank you for including me in the video.
I will never forget playing GTA 2 on the PlayStation, that's how my relationship with Rockstar got started. Classic top down view, finding the tank on the top of the building. man good old days
It's crazy to see what the Rockstar has turned into and how they really changed with the generations
It's clear that you are passionate enough about rock* being a better company that you would reach out to artists and produce those songs. Don't let some people telling you that it's cringey get you down. I think they are very nice and speak to your hard work and dedication. The message is there, but you won't please everyone with the music. people have different tastes is all. Keep it up king
I bet people who aren't pleased with the music still love what Rockstar and Two-Take Interactive are doing.
i love this you have highlighted everything wrong and now here you are praising them for the things they do right respect my dude respect
Either we make them to wake up or lost them forever, both the community and R*/TK2 has to work together for the future of the video game industry.
I think your channel is underrated bro, the analysis, the reaserch and the way you intergrate this whole infrrmation is amazing
What your doing for Rockstar games is amazing!
Another masterfully crafted video by Ocean.
i love how when you showed claude he said nothing
The quote from Claude brought a tear to my eye 🥲
25 minutes and it still felt like you only scratched the surface
throughout the video i was going like "OH you should mention this and what about that did you also know this about that??" which just made me realise how grateful i am for everything R* had done up to a CeRtAin point in time
What stuff were you thinking?! I'm curious :) :o
Rockstar supplies this channel with content that’s for sure
Yeah, and part 4 covers that. Also, this is the end of Rockstar Stuff. Unless something crazy happens
First Rockstar game I played was GTA 2 back in 2000. The copy I had for PS1 had an ad for GTA 3 on the back of the booklet. Time flys.
Honestly man your videos are on another level of quality!
The visualisation and animations in between with the nice structured topic.
Mmhmm! Awesome job

Claude:
Yeah, some of the rockstar games are epic forever, they are the mirror of the good old rockstar, I hope rockstar can see this video and realize how good their games are, how much fun they had bought to people and I hope they can bring back all of the joy
that big smoke cluckin bell order gets me everytime because not everyone realizes smoke was stalling for the drive by
Amazing series video to wrap it up. The OG R* indeed made strides to what its today. Hopefully one day we return to that version of themselves.
Physics were downgraded. Just look up any comparison video and you'll see.
Afterwards, when they release a new title, presumably if VI actually does come out, they’ll know that many new fans already know what to expect, and could make the driving gradually harder in their newest title.
just noticed how Dan seems (well shit, used to) way more vocal and about the games not the money. on the other hand I've never ever seen a video of Sam talking or.. just looking healthy.

Been playing GTA IV again recently and man. I always love replaying this game every so often. It’s a game that has held up very well over the years. Many of Rockstars games have aged quite well, I just wish we had more games from them in the recent decade though.
I jump back to GTA IV and i don't know how to enjoy it anymore. Wheres the hyper cars? Wheres the bloody snap gunshot sounds. Where are the pedestrian, the glowing time square etc. Where are the cool outfits? Brucie meant to be the richest dude in LC but he looks like a homeless bum 😂

Rockstar games have followed me entirety of my life , one of my first games that i played as a kid was gta 1 and fall in love with .. i played every rockstar game since, I even remember i would be absent from school to go in a video game store where they would have playstation 2 with san andreas you can play on and i just keep on playing it and its a bitter sweet feeling to today .. what they put out is still ahead of everyone elses but i am afraid that it ran the course , the departures of some of the most important members of Rockstar makes me question their future and success of GTA Online scares me that they will shift the focus on money and that quality wont follow ..
This was a great video as usual just one problem.
There is a major lack of Red Dead Redemption 1 hopefully there is more next time.
I think that all depends if he records all the gameplay himself and whether or not he has a PS3 or 360 to play RDR1. Cause i think all the gameplay are from PC ports.

Gang members, drug dealers, random peds running from the cops. In my mind I was a spy but looking back I was more like the punisher driving the batmobile 😂
The first GTA I played was GTA 2 on PS1. I was too young to play it properly i,e missions but I still enjoyed it because of how it looked and and music. It was fantastic.

I loved the driving on IV and honestly, I love how divided the community is on that. Always something that comes up when talking about IV. GTA is probably my go-to comparison when driving in any open world game that isn't solely based in the racing genre like Forza lol.
I hated the driving, felt really clunky
I love the driving in 4! Every car had weight to it and felt satisfying
Same i also really liked it, probably because im used to playing racing games
Mafia 2 had weighty cars and they dint role over at 60 mph
I never got to play 4 but i enjoyed the driving in Saints row than in gta 5
