I've said everything there was to say about Rockstar Games. I have repeated myself on several occasions. I don't get why other Studios get stumped in for one mistake but Rockstar can make as many as they want and the fanboys still stay behind their back.

So it works like this:
100% of people see your work and support you.
30% of them will start to lose interest so they would leave or hate.
40% will stay a fan but be less profitable for you.
The other 30% will be fanboying.
Rockstar games is a famous company so if we go back to that 100% people, THEY ARE A LOT. So the 70% who leave the supporting side, will not make the 30% small. Those fanboys are still a lot of people.
Because the stupid fanboys always going to use "but they made amazing games" as argument.
Rockstar is an example of: "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Take 2 needs to be investigated if they're willingly allowing their PC users to be targeted like that. The fact that they require their launcher and DRM to play the game regardless of if you're playing multiplayer, whose security is so bad that people can literally stalk and DDOS you just by knowing your SOCIAL CLUB ID is so fucking sketchy.

@@spectroelectro3772 Their entire online ecosystem is unsecure. People using mod menus online can actually see YOUR IP ADDRESS thanks to GTA 5's Peer-to-Peer nature. And once they have it, they kick you out of servers, follow you around and harass you in-game, and even fuck around with you while playing single-player. I'm not even joking when I say it's actually safer to pirate the game if you want to play single-player only.
I got burnt out on GTA V when I was still a teenager living at home and in my freshman year of community college. I’m now 27, married, have a toddler, and have been out of college for half a decade.
hah! i was maybe 9 or 8 when i convinced my mom to get me gta 5 on the 360. give it a month or two and i'll almost have become a senior in high school before i get to see *any* gta 6 gameplay. thank god i got tired of GTAO in 2016 and started playing fivem whenever i got bored

@@hi-kt3qr It doesn't mean that this is a bad thing. There are a lot of passionated people in the industry seeing they goal becomeing part of Rockstar Games for they career and are proud of it. Have fresh energy. I would join them to see whats going on and trying to safe them if i would have the control over it.
You know what the problem is? It's that we still think this is the "old rockstar", but since the game released almost every single person who worked on and cared about the game has left. It's just an IP that a corporation has taken over now and it's never coming back...

He's a guy who likes to make games, rockstar games always had that amazing games because of him and a lot of other good people that wanted to do a good work (like Leslie for example), and since rockstar wasn't doing shit, after the rdr2 release he left the company with a bunch of other people remaining only Sam, the main reason why rockstar is a complete garbage nowadays.

As a Canadian I can tell you that when you purchase shark cards in game from Rockstar they cost 133 CAD but on the PlayStation store they’re 100 CAD. Nice vid

I feel Rockstar officially sealed the deal of their downfall when Dan Houser left. He saw where his company was going and didn't want any part of it. When the lead writer for most of their games leaves, it's a bad omen. The greed ruined Rockstar. It's sad to see.
To be fair, Houser and co weren't going to magically make the game better. Especially given House and Laslow are writers (and not even a good one on GTA games) and not a programmer.
If GTA6 is going to suffer from its development issues, it would have suffered even if all the original heads were there since the bulk of the work is done by the regular devs working on the game.
Hell, given what we know about how Houser and Benzlies operated, it might actually be better that they're gone since their replacements might stop constantly rebooting everything.

Houser and Co were notorious for rebooting large chunks of their games. Their approach was one of the issues with Rockstar.
They'll milk GTA for the next several years. Mark my words.

An important thing left out is the glitches, they quickly remove the fun ones but never take out the game breaking glitches, Rockstar is anti-fun now and days which is a bummer because launch glitches along with other funny glitches is what made this game fun when looking for something to due other then grind, combat someone or race.
Just like in RDO. All the money making glitches were gone in a day, but the game breaking glitches sometimes took weeks or months to be fixed
For eg they fixed the ghost car glitch in gta 3 defective edition instead of fixing game breaking glitches

fr. the loading screen bugs and the disconnection bugs are the ones ive been having for a long time and they never fix it, they can add random ass dune buggies to the game but can't fix a simple bug

Yep, that never sat right. I preferred the GTA 4 online experience, a few solid game modes, freeplay in particular was a lot of fun. GTAO is like GTA by committee.

Rockstar Games' negligence and laziness in the past recent years makes me believe that GTA VI will be just as poorly managed [if not worse] than the state GTA V is in now. We've lost Dan Houser, Leslie Benzies and Lazlow Jones whom are the heart and soul of Rockstar Games, and without the heart and soul, the body cannot operate. Instead we're left with a husk; a shell of their former glory, like having a Ferrari with an empty interior and no engine, Rockstar has become the very thing they've mocked for decades ---- and for what? They got caught up in the money, the fame and the power. I've been a fan of Rockstar since 2002, and Red Dead 2 was sadly their last good game and one of their best, but I think I'm done with them. ✌🏾
Same, rdr2 was and will be my last purchase from R* unless they pull their heads out of their asses and start to actually communicate/ listen to their community but we all know pigs will fly and hell will freeze long before that happens

Well him and his team is responsible for the little details, insane graphics, random encounters etc, all the things that make fans fall in love with a rockstar game... His still in the company, thats why i think gta vi will be bigger and better... But as for the story part and the radio stations, it will most likely be extremely poor... But i never did care about a gta game because of story, its the openworld free roam aspect i fell in love with, so leslie, dan and lazlow leaving doesnt affect me at all..
Ironically, i remember when i started to voice some complaints about the problems with GTAO, mostly regarding it's grindy nature, broken economy and predatory microtransactions in some videos and forums back in 2015-16. Everyone would just call me a hater and say that i was bad at the game. In fact, the people blindly defending R* and the overall toxicity was so strong that i just quit GTAO for good ( wasn't having fun anymore anyway, didn't need the free toxicity and aggressive behavior on top ).
The only shame is that it took so long for people to notice and this fight to #saverockstargames may be a losing one already.
I agree. And what's worse it's mostly young children who shouldn't even be playing the game to begin with who defends rockstar because they dont know any better.
Then when you call them out as well as rockstar they get pissed then they attack you then next thing you know you get a bunch of idiots getting angry because a "dude backed up with Info" calls out the truth not even that but as soon as people call them out they still get mad, like we are trying to get a "company" to actually make new games instead of having a fat gold bar up their a** while we bow down the people who are toxic and support R* for screwing people are kissing their feet and warming up to them, while everyone that's been waiting 9 years for a new game are still calling them out.
Sad thing is rockstar covers this up not just them but take two, they then attack the modding community they get their butts heard if Johnny here tells them their game sucks or is waste of money, next the sue some modders because the made the game better, and yet they cant even do their jobs right, they higher a moblie company that doesn't know what the hell their doing released the "definitive edition" and its complete shit like someone just took a giant dump on a plate and called it dinner and served it to the customer, you call this a game it's not a game it's a bugged out unpolished and laggy game that looked like wasn't worked on and was rushed that's not a game that's just being lazy.
Another thing I can't stand about rockstar is their constant oh were developing a game when we already know they aren't developing a game and I bet they payed some media outlet to spread rumors who knows maybe because were calling them out so much that they're actually waking up and doing something. But that being said I highly doubt their doing anything from the past 9 years now almost closing to a decade for "GTA V" their not gonna make a new game because they're monopoly and games like saints row dont count because their games years ago gotten more worse. Good for me I gladfully spent ~60 bucks on a bunch of shooters like BPM, DUSK, ULTRAKILL and DOOM Eternal. Way more worth my time, and I learned indie titles / small publishers are the most creative.
one thing i think you should cover is how r* really tries to do damage control. let me show you how:
when rockstar released the ps5 gta5 trailer in 2020, they were met with huge backlash (rightfully so). but then once they announced a new dlc for gtao (los santos summer special), everyone lost their minds since they confirmed they are working on a new location. then, fast forward more years and they released another trailer for e&e that showed how little it improved. but once they announced the making of a original remaster series, everyone again was hyped to be able to replay their favorite games from their childhood. they used this as an opportunity to also cover up the fact that they were taking down mods that made their game look worse than dedicated fans who work for free to improve their legacy.
then, once again when they proved they are incapable of anything and the community saw how bad the trilogy remaster was, they announced the contract dlc with franklin and everyone was pro-rockstar again. meanwhile, the red dead community had just been given a will-smith smack to the face when december of 2021 was the first december where they didnt get an update but instead, lame event weeks and r* acting like they still care about red dead online. people on twitter spammed #savereddeadonline and r* was surely panicking on the backlash they are getting. they had another way to get people back on their side: write 2 paragraphs confirming the development of gta6 but it was essentially blatant lies (to me at least). people were so excited because r* had essentially given what seemed to be a full plate of food to a group of starving people when in reality, they had only given bread crumbs. and when e&e was another fiasco, they thought of another way to save their reputation: talk about how they are rebalancing gtao when they really arent going to.
its the same cycle over and over again. this is all in my perspective at least...
as they had just released gta+, they must think of another way to cover that up. but how many more lies can they pull out of their ass?

With such a huge chunk of GTA Online being peer-to-peer, you have to wonder why they even bothered to shut down the 360/PS3 versions.
32:11 that’s when I gave in and bought the 3.5 mil shark card. After spending most of my free time grinding and selling crates, I finally bought myself a MKII. After that I found out that I need a Terrorbyte to even put rockets on it, and in order to buy a Terrorbyte you need a nightclub. I feel ashamed to this day…

nah that won't work or at least it doesn't work without everyone who continues to play gta online stop playing it which is impossible since people won't stop playing gta online and pay for their services just because you ask them to. Thanks to this (to the masses who give their money) Rockstar is condemned as a company that only wants the money of the masses and that does not care about anything else literally they became a company like EA only interested in selling the same game and exploit their franchises to the fullest (EA with fifa and Rockstar with gta) the only thing left for us is to support independent companies so that one day we can see a rival that is better than gta.

Its so sad that there are literally hundreds of creators out there, taking the efforts to make such amazing content, laying out valid criticisms and talking about the various shortcomings of this piece of shit company, yet it is highly likely that Rockstar will do literally nothing about it and just keep milking GTA Online for another 50 years.

The solution is simple: don't buy their shit. It isn't that hard, and yet people keep coming back. The biggest incentive a company can get to change, is if it affects their wallets. They patched some of the flaws in the Defective Edition because their stock was tanking, but then they released hints that they're working on GTA VI and suddenly everything was forgiven and their stock recovered. That's hardly an incentive to change.
So, you can't really complain about mediocrity when it's the third time you paid for an almost 10-year-old game. You'll keep complaining in 2033 when GTA V 20th Anniversary Edition is released and GTA VI is still nowhere to be found, because GTA+ subscribers settled for the 200th update to GTA Online.

After all, the key people that made the game possible in the first place are no longer with the company, and it shows, so hopefully they're working on their own thing and will probably change the landscape once again.

Glad u made a video about this. I was heavily affected by take 2s greedy take over. I was lvl 887 and had made over 750 mil legit grinding and I spent about 300 bucks rl money on shark cards between 2014-2016 until I stared grinding endlessly. I had every vehicle apartment and all businesses fully upgraded making 4 mil a day I had it all…After walking up to an apartment and clicking a trade in value of 2 million dollars that rockstar was offering, I got my entire account reset to 0 with no money or status. I sent multiple emails pleading for my account and all I got was automated messages saying it was permanent. I played the game endlessly for 7 1/2 years and they just took it all away for their mistake. They purged the community to make sure u buy more of their product. I’ll never trust or will be a fan of this company ever again. I fondly remember the times before gta 5 as a golden era in my mind of what I was a fan of. But they changed. They are not the same company any more and with that I’ve walked away. All they did was give me freedom by removing me from their greedy un cared for world.

I legit stopped playing with friends when fucking bots would come in, then start spamming chat with IPs that have player IDs. Also, made me an ingame xenophobe towards asian players because:
1- we don't get unicode in the western version of GTA so I couldn't see if it was just text or special characters being used in the messages that could have some malicious exploit, cause all that showed up were hollow squares.
2- said messages were being posted at inhumane speeds, screaming "I'm a bot" red flags.
Basically the second I'd start seeing that I'd yank my ethernet cable.

E&E has an issue, going from Multiplayer to Single player, when you switch from your online character via the character wheel, switch to Michael, Franklin, Trevor, the switch is super slow. It's bugged or something! I made a support ticket with Rockstar. They asked for a video of the issue & make the video unlisted, so i did. The video still has no views after they asked for a video after a week & my ticket says solved!😧
Oh, the bug called a stop glitch in certain game modes that assholes use and claim "its part of the game"

Yet in REMIX, we got plenty of new cars, as well as a new (albeit actually a reused asset of a) map with new events to participate in. These contents weren't locked off Online mode too!
So technically, Rockstar had a history of pulling a good rerelease in the past! I don't know why they fell off in that department either!

Here's a point for part 2:
Something GTA Online has is a reward/punishment system for being a good/bad sport, and while this is a good idea on paper, Rockstar fails at it in practice. First, it's unclear what qualifies as being a good/bad sport; it seems like the only thing that determines a bad sport, is how often you quit in the middle of a mission with other players, which will instantly kick everyone out of the mission. It makes no sense why this has to be a thing; Star Wars: The Old Republic allows people to continue playing after one person has left the game.
Second, for being a "good sport", they every so often throw 3,000 GTA$ your way, which if you know GTAO's economy, is like giving some change to a homeless person. But if you're a bad sport, they put you in specific servers, filled with toxic players, just because you needed to quit a mission halfway, so you could go to dinner with your family (yes, this happened to me).
Finally, some solutions: 1) make it clear what makes one a good/bad sport, 2) make a spectrum of awards for being a good sport, like a curtain amount of money, the more nice you are, the bigger the donation (3,000 should be the minimum, and putting the bad ones with the toxic players is punishment enough), and 3) just be transparent in general; Rockstar, don't be like RUclips.
Also the vehicle insurance system making a player pay for destroying another player's vehicle was originally implemented to disincentivize trolling - I remember back in RDR Online people would often troll you by killing your horse.
But nowadays this system favours the trolls and griefers and thus punish regular players for defending themselves.
It’s also strange that they have this mechanic while endorsing themselves griefing, with monetary rewards for blowing other players’ cargo. There’s even an achievement in Red Dead 2 that asks you to grief another player’s stranger mission

I actually had an argument with a friend over Rockstar's mistreatment over Red Dead/and how they manage GTA. He's just, "Oh you think you can do better? Make it yourself, then." - obviously I can't without the tools or access necessary to make a company, study game design, etc. but I shot back with, "Give me Strauss-levels of money and the prep time necessary, a proper crew team and I gladly will hold you to your word." That's how bad it is lol.

As seen in video essays its not exactly the story that makes gta gta, its the satirical but not completely over the top world like with Saints row. I dont think its impossible for new faces to create GTA worthy games.

I started playing back before Heists on Xbox 360 initial launch when one of the best ways to earn money was selling stolen cars for $8-10k to the chop shop on cooldown, and back then cars still cost over $1 million. Fortunately a modder shot $10 million at me so I was able to get a decent start.

The only 2 points I disagree with in this video is the "Rockstar re-released GTAV 3-4 times/ supported GTA V for 9 years" and the "It's good Rockstar announced a new GTA".
For the first one, I ask why is it a bad thing for a studio to support a game people are still playing? No other company or game is hated for continuing to be supported. Nobody complains that Mojang is still supporting Minecraft since 2011. People are excited for Minecraft's new updates. Nobody complains that DC Universe Online and Warframe have been actively supported since 2012. Or Siege since 2015. Hell, World of Warcraft is still going even after being released in 2004 on PC. So why is it wrong for Rockstar to support a game people are still playing? When Bungie released Destiny 2 in 2016, people complained it was worse than Destiny 1 so Destiny 2 was eventually updated to be more like Destiny 1.
Even the number of releases isn't a bad thing. Nobody complained when GTASA was re-released 16 times so far.
As for the "it's good that Rockstar announced a new GTA", I'd argue it's not because all it does is get fans even more antsy now that that info is out. And in a few years, you'll have people getting even more angry that there's no more info on the game. Look Bethesda with TES6.

So we were expecting waiting, TES VI teaser was however far more detailed and with passion aimed at fans of TES then Rockstar just coming out and saying "Ah yeah .. we umm ... are doing GTA VI someday too." I watched TES VI trailer and I was happy, it was well put with tons of these nitpicky details I know Bethesda for. Rockstar just saying at odd hour via social media how they will do one day GTA VI is ... not inspiring. It feels like they only cared to reassure investors, 0 care for actual game and it's potential playerbase. And it's GTA. The game is loosely based on irl but in parody manner.
Compare it to TES where Betha is supposed to do whole Hammerfell - majority of which was never before featured in any TES game and they have to explore lore for Yokuda, which is again having bits accross all games but never to any large amount due to games being not focused on subject. What GTA VI has to do ? Probably copy Miami from irl as map, write story and just slap everywhere satire. Except I am not sure if it's satire anymore when company trully behaves like it irl. The only hurdle would be engine, but Rockstar had so many years to figure that out. TES is usually generation defining game, so people are okay with Bethesda releasing game when it's ready - TES is always piece of art at core.
Rockstar though ... they clearly have no respect for their IP (given Defective Edition mutilating not just one but three their games), their fans (or promises to the latter - what happened to singleplayer dlc's to GTA V ?) and they hardly care even for promises to investors.

I've been convinced for some time that Rockstar's remaining programmers are 3rd rate at best, with all the errors that keep creeping in.

This is great critique so far. I want to add onto the "shark card" section by elaborating on just how little they've done to actually "expand and enhance" GTA Online...even before the Playstation 4 and Xbox One relaunches.
Ever since GTA Online came out, I distinctly remember seeing all these rumors being spread around that Rockstar was going to expand the map by adding new islands and cities and bridges, while expanding the playable area. I know you talked about that in a previous video, but let's take a moment to think about this:
Grand Theft Auto 5, the most profitable piece of ENTERTAINMENT in history for raking in between 4.5 to 6.5 billion dollars ever since it came out 9 years ago (from game sales alone), and Rockstar announced that they were going to be cannibalizing on old content to make room for new content. We've been stuck in Los Santos as a single island for the last 9 years. They're telling us that they can make updates that add overpriced vehicles and property which gate-keep mediocre missions, but they can't expand the playable map area for said missions to take place? Let alone upgrade the game to use servers instead of Peer-To-Peer connections?

Absolutely, i actually really enjoyed Watch Dogs 1, but since then, it became cringe and woke and then the third one was like apocalyptic dystopia so... idk what was up with that lol. But i would love to see Ubisoft come back and make a game similar to what Watch Dogs 1 should've really been, put in a lot of money and maybe not copy/paste buildings and stuff and they'd be making TONS of sales from that, no question... but they won't do that, i'm sure.

@@sigmanerd8553 Yeah, Ubisoft has fallen from grace as most companies have... they used to make such great titles like Far Cry 2, Trackmania, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon (the good ones), Rainbow Six Vegas, Assassin's Creed was one of my all time favorites back in the day and even Watch Dogs 1... i know it didn't live up to most standards and such but i never saw the trailer, i just bought the game cuz it looked similar to GTA lol and i thought it was fun and i loved the Minigames and stuff. My main issue was that i couldn't fly a heli or plane or anything, but other than that, i rather enjoyed the first one and i really wish they'd make the next Watch Dogs a reboot, make it similar to the first one but do what people really wanted and what was promised... and also add air vehicles lol, i like my open world games to have no boundaries.

I agree with pretty much everything except the "Canadians are getting a 20% discount on Shark Cards". That's just not true, you cannot use what others are paying based on your own currency. Take for instance, Brazil. Our minimum wage is comparable (in "local monetary units") to the US (if you work 8h-day/5-days-week at 7.25 USD/h), about 1200 "local monetary units". Yet, if you were to sell shark cards here for 100 USD using a direct conversion, that would amount to 465 BRL, close to 50% of the minimum wage. That makes no sense, at all, and nobody would buy them. So if we consider the sell price as "X percent over the minimum wage", you'd get ~100 USD on the US and ~100 BRL for Brazil - except that Rockstar sells their 8 mil card for 180 BRL, which clearly shows they still wanna suck a lot of money from us.
If we both get "1200 units" to play with at the end of the month, my "100 units" will feel just as big as your "100 units" to take out of our pockets.

It's not very likely that it'd get through to rockstar because they're robots who don't pay attention to anything their community does, but it might spread the word more for people who don't truly understand the extent to which rockstar have become one of the worst companies in the history of gaming.

They don't give a fuck. People who actually want a semblance of quality from them aren't their target audience anymore, they just want morons who either blindly fanboy them because of past success and constantly give money because of it or a minority of rich people who constantly spend money on the game.
@@brapa1190 Rockstar hired Grove Street Games because they are too focused on their main cash cow, GTA Online, which earns millions of dollars every day, they're basically printing money at this point. Also GSG's entire portfolio consisted of mobile games, and terrible mobile/console ports, which means you can hire them for very little money for "AAA remasters" and they'll take it to diversify their portfolio. Rockstar was never concerned with the quality of these games, and GSG wasn't capable of upholding the quality either. Its the perfect partnership for Rockstar, financially. Rockstar will probably partner up with GSG a few more times and make easy money before it starts to affect them, at which point GSG will once again rename itself, and we'll see the whole thing happen all over again.
Fun fact: In the definitive edition switch version, while driving a car, you can tap on the places where the buttons would be on the mobile ports and it would control the car.
