Thank you for having me and mentioning Red Dead Online. Alot of people forget how bad Rockstar screwed RDO. The community doesn't deserve to be treated this way. They have a responsibility to their fans. It still baffles me that people defend this company.

As far as I’m concerned, Red Dead Redemption 2 is Rockstar’s magnum opus and their swan song. It was the last project the greats of the company got to work on before they left. Anything that comes after RDR2 is in my eyes from a different Rockstar entirely. This new Rockstar may share the name, but they are not the same Rockstar that used to be one of the industry’s best development studios.

It's true that the Rockstar that will release the next GTA entry and whatever games in the future are going to be a company with a different management and approach but I personally wouldn't lose hope in specifically their ability to release near-complete, polished experiences until their next non-remaster/remake game comes out and disappoints.

If you've ever modded in GTA Online, then you'll know just how shallow the game experience is once you have infinite money and no longer need to grind.

That's why if I ever do game development, Modder's WILL have a place in my game. Either a section dedicated to mods or Mods turned into updates.

What I love about Rockstar: Their single player experiences are wonderful
What I hate about Rockstar: Their blatant disregard for solo players is so bad that it may have a negative impact on the quality of future titles

"Quality of future titles"? What future titles? GTA Online will exist and be supported until the end of time.
They are definitely going to move on to GTA 6, because as popular as GTA Online is, its profitability is going to go down at some point. However, GTA 6 might just end up being "GTA Online 2". You know, an "online only" game where you do story missions "with other players", need to grind or buy shark cards to get vehicles and buildings so you can do story missions, and there's absolutely no single player content/campaign whatsoever.
Are there even gonna be future titles?

Man the cars in gta online are so dam expensive I just use the single player to have fun customizing super cars . All there is to do in GTA online is grind cayo like a minimum wage job to afford literally anything, so all I've bought really is a business I never use and a deluxo, and most of that money came from the free million a month for PS4 a few months ago

It takes 5 minutes, to try & find Ammo, Amour, Snacks, Clothes. The Interactive menu needs a nee system.

7:08 Benjamin Byron Davis (Dutch’s actor) said the game took 8 years to make and 5 years to motion capture, so I imagine they started working on the script for those 3 years before the motion capture started
As someone in the industry that is genuinely just horseshit. No game takes more than 3 years (even that's a lot) to do motion capture for. Compare it to filming 2 hour long movies which can take up to 4 months and that's including traveling to locations and doing multiple takes

Man, GTA 5 has become by this point Rockstar's equivalent of Sims 4. Constantly releasing unnecessary promotions and overpriced DLC's, still marketing a 10 year old game like it's a new triple A 2022 pay to win game, going as far as remodeling GTA's aesthetics while changing nothing else. And especially, nowadays, both games are going after a much younger demographic to keep their wallets flowing with oversaturated content and vehicles.
GTA 5 already fell lower than any EA game ever. I have more respect for FIFA or The Sims than for GTA 5 at the moment.

Speaking of Rockstar Support, I had many times tried to report some actual bugs within GTA Online that Rockstar hadn't patched for a long time, some where likely not reported often. You would be right guessing that they would love it, instead of the Devs and their own people handling the bugs and fixing them they've left us to find and report them, but their responses where so bot-like that it was not like the Ticket type was explicitly specified as a "Bug Report", and I got stupid replies from some bot I could catch in a second reading its comment, acting as if I don't understand how technology works and it wasn't even gonna understand what the purpose of a Bug Report is. While one of those reports I've submitted was instantly regarded by a human and told me that it has been passed over to the dev team, the rest of my attempts where horrible.
I find it funny how a video criticizing Rockstar Games has more effort put into it, then Rockstar Game's new games itself

believe me, there's a difference between capitalism and crony capitalism. the way Rockstar Games conducts itself is definitely the latter. Wait until they realize the fact we are the ones who made Grand Theft Auto V a success, and not them. all they did was put together a digital product that's 9 years old Emma had the product not sold over a billion copies, Rockstar Games would have folded back then and declared bankruptcy. it's as if they have just gave up, and decided to kick back while they are taking kickbacks from reselling outdated content and passing it off as new. this is like making Purina Puppy Chow look like a steak dinner for adults. there is no shame in Rockstar Games.

Man, why do every time I joined a fandom associated with a company, the company goes very wrong? First, it was during my time in the F-Zero and SSB fandom when Nintendo started to take down fan projects. And now it is Rockstar with them taking down mods.
What is next, Danganronpa getting sued and ruined? At this point, I just want to find one community that has peace and no drama. Plus, I won't want to go back to Parasite Eve and Resident Evil. Those give me bad memories.
The only thing about Nintendo is that once they put out one of their main title games then the quality skyrockets to one of the best in the industry. So far they have the best racing genre game, platforming genre game, open world genre game and a few others as well.

To be fair, while the the video itself contains a lot of valid points, there are some issues. I wrote the following comment:
While I generally agree with many of your points, I'd argue some of them really miss the mark.
"2 IPs 10 Years"
This section is really egregious. You're comparing the development of smaller PS3/360 games like GTA4 to RDR2, a game that is significantly more detailed. By this logic I could say that any game that has more than 7 people working on it cannot take more than 1 year to make because Super Mario Bros on the NES was made in a year with 7 people.
Like, every modern detailed game takes longer to make than its older counterparts because the audience demands more detail which takes longer to make. Like, if the next GTA game has graphics on par with GTA V upon release just to be made faster, I doub't y'all would suddenly be happy.
Plus, It's not just Rockstar taking longer. Santa Monica used to release 3 God of War games in a span of 5 years. Now a single GOW game takes 5+ years. That caused them to turn their initial plan of a trilogy of GOW games to a 2 game series just to be able to finish the story in a reasonable amount of time. Cyberpunk 2077 entered proper development in 2016 after CDPR finished the Witcher 3 and its DLC. And even after 5 years, it wasn't finished.
Do you want Rockstar to rush out more games just for the sake of having more games out?
Secondly, even in the case of games like GTA4, they often had a lot of cut content as a result of their 3.5 years of development. GTA 4 was originally planned to be set in Liberty State rather than a city but had to be scaled back to due deadlines. Wheras in comparison, most of RDR2's cut content is stuff like "alternate story ideas the team had but felt didn't work" or "some side features that were cut" rather than massive game changing content. A shorter development time for their games also means less content in those games. Do you really want Rockstar to release their games faster if it meant they had more cut content as a result? I'd argue you should want Rockstar to take their time.
In addition, you also forget about crunch. Games like GTA4, RDR1 and Midnight Club had some of the most infamous and brutal cases of crunch (see Rockstar Spouses letter). Those games were made in hellish conditions in order to meet their release date. Had Rockstar kept up the crunch, they would have ended up like Bioware where the hellish conditions burnt out their best talent.

Sometimes his videos surprises me in a way that I'm watching something from National Geographic or a high class production company, when its just a free-to-watch video on RUclips. This guy puts more effort into one video than the effort Rockstar puts into 3 DLCs. Maybe more...

One of my biggest complaints is Rockstars lack of consistency. For instance, they release an F1 update and then never added anything else F1 related. They just move onto the next thing. Never adding to existing content but instead adding more on top of it.

Gta online was at its peak when you had to actually do things to get the good things. Like when you had to do the merryweather heist to unlock the insurgent, and couldnt just buy a shark card to get an oppressor mk.2

After gta5 I've played rdr2, bully, gta4, gta vice city, bully again (i have fun in this game), manhunt, gta san andreas... Just to have gta5 barely come out on ps5. And those are just rockstar games. So i understand why people would complain about not having a new game but there truly is more to life than just video games, at least to me there is.
Its not entirely invalid, but its unoriginal and deeply insulting. Like we do play other games, but we still want these games to be good, we've paid for them, we are entitled to it, or at least a refund.

The thing about communication is: Rockstar has always been very sporadic in dropping trailers, news, etc. I remember when GTA5 was announced it was just a little screens hot with a V on it and nothing else.
Back then that was fine. It showed Rockstar didn't give a shit about advertising and just released quality games. And the public was fine with that.
Nowadays with their luck laster remasters and poor service that strategy doesn't fly anymore.
Because they killed the hype. If GTA 6 trailer is coming tomorrow, i won't even able to think into it as something is going to happend. I won't be hyped because i todally forgot what got me hyped 10 years ago. Its hard to remember, hard to get into that state of waiting for something from R*. Because with they Online content, there is a consinstency of useless announcements that i don't care for, filling my feed.

33:52 Respawn (The studio behind Apex Legends) even removed "hot zones", as they are called, or zones that most of the lobbies focused on to tell their players "Go out and explore the rest of the map". For example, take the Skull Town zone of King's Canyon map, it was so utterly "hot" that half of the lobby used to die in that single zone and Respawn decided to remove it, and that's what Rockstar should do, incentivize their own players to do other stuff in the map, not focus all of them in the now boring city that we all have seen for the damn last 8 years.
I used to be so excited to see GTA Online before, but now it is just the same boring thing over and over.

The saddest part about GTA Online to me is how toxic it has become. I remember playing with a full group of friends and just driving around, causing mayhem and enjoying the product we purchased. Now, if I try to get the group together, we’re greeted by players who have done everything in the game and now decide to kill other players for no reason other than “well the game allows me to kill you, so I’m going to do that until you leave the game”
It’s 2022, so many of us have really shitty mental health, imagine logging onto a game looking forward to unwinding, only to be greeted by literal cyber bullies in a video game that compete to see who’s the most toxic.
Just let me play the game I purchased, I’m not trying to look for a therapist after playing around in GTA, it’s pathetic.
I remember when I first bought my CEO Office, purely for the garages but I was still trying to figure out how players got businesses, are able to deliver cargo and earning money. It really made me scratch my head until one day, I walked into my office, went into the computer and there it was. After two years of walking past it or not batting an eyelid, I used the computer and finally figured out how cargo was done. It changed my GTA Online experience forever.
Remember the radio commercials for Righteous Slaughter 7 where they where parodying CoD and in the end it said "Pretty much the same as the last game"?

I love the desert area in GTA 5. I wish parts of it were bigger, like a big Joshua Tree area (instead of an acre-sized one) and an area based of the Imperial Sand Dunes. Blaine County feels like more of a conglomeration of rural communities than a true desolate wasteland.
But yeah, I agree that there should definitely be another city on the north side of the map

I am still baffled as to how R* can and still gets away with intentional zero communication on anything for the last 10 years. This shit is unacceptable in todays video game industry and yet they are doing perfectly fine whilst not communicating at all.
They push it to the limit. It only needs a huge shitstorm or something. And then they will talk, but with only tiny amount of information. If they see they could loss money, they will do something.
here's a quote from a Respawn Dev when asked why they don't communicate about upcoming features and events:
"As to why I don't give specific answers about unannounced or requested features (like alternate modes); far too often it's unwise to do so. Just mentioning this kind of stuff gets taken as a promise. The timeline starts the moment it's mentioned... and everyone has a different expectation of what's a reasonable timeline... and many people heavily underestimate what is required.
I'll give you my somewhat cynical take on how this stuff tends to go. If I were to say "Yes, feature X will come to the game someday.", (aside from instantly becoming a promise, which we are now obligated to add) it would likely get picked up by blogs and gaming news sites, posted as "Respawn says X is coming to Apex", and depending on how those articles are written, they're going to set expectations incorrectly for a lot of people. Eventually, people would talk about how Respawn "announced X ages ago", saying that it's taking too long, or speculating about why it has been delayed. Something that I used to love about rockstar is how they were the golden standard in the video game industry. Also that outro was straight heat
Imagine that your company has so many problems, that a channel with less than 150k subscribers makes *4 parts* describing those problems, all long at least 30 minutes. as far as i know, even other gta youtubers and players says that rockstar isn't getting one right move during these years

The only fun bit of the wasteland is the highway that surrounds it all, its occasionally fun to get your car up to max speed weaving through cars away from everyone else
But that can also be a slog if you're not a sports car and the NPCS are programmed to drive into you so that makes it even more frustrating.

One thing I think that hasn’t been mentioned is cross progression not existing solely for the reason to have you start all over on a new platform to potentially sell more shark cards despite all the money and time you spent on your last account. And the feature of transferring your account from 360 and ps3 to current gen was removed immediately when they realized that people were transferring modded accounts. When they could’ve easily filtered through legit accounts and keep the feature available instead of entirely abandoning the generation that started and funded their game from the beginning. I remember panicking that I would lose all my progress on my acc because I couldn’t afford the new console at the time. But eventually having to tell my friend to transfer my acc for me before they removed the feature.
I know it's hard to be very consistent due to maybe your time of research or other matters but your videos are so entertaining to watch and very informative as you've always been. With all of that said i personally would love to see your videos more frequently. You're amazing.
The community needs to sue this company for false advertisement and negligence. And Dark Space's Well explained videos could be used as evidence against them.

I said this under part one but I am very certain GTA 6 isn't a thing. Rockstar literally tweeted they are working "on the next installment of the grand theft Auto series". That could mean basically anything. Seeing how shit this company is and they lost all their talent at this point the next GTA title is most likely an online MMORPG or something. Not GTA6. Mark my words. Costs less to make and will make much more profit.

That aligns with things Strauss Zelnick (CEO of Take-Two which owns Rockstar) has said. For years now he's been complaining about how unsustainable these big games are to develop (despite the fact they keep breaking sales records...).
I'd be willing to bet Red Dead Redemption 2 was the last mega game we'll see from R* for a long time.
Based on GTA V and the 10 years they've been milking that I don't think they've got it in them to craft another GTA of a similar scale. I'd guess it'll be an online only kind of game with a half baked campaign that's really just a backdrop for endless monetization.
I can hope for the best but I'm also trying to be realistic, and the biggest red flag has been the departure of people like Dan Houser and Leslie Benzies. I don't think they'd leave if they had another great GTA to be a part of.

37:32 you missed some key details here. its not just late releases. the PC ports of the 3D era games also have a lot of missing assets and other bugs. you need at lest 15 different mods to restore the PC version of gta san andreas to the same quality of the ps2 version. there are broken graphics and broken missions and missing models in parts of the maps as well as missing shader effects and vehicle spawns . some of the other 3D era games were never ported to PC as well decpite their much higher quaity. such as gta VCS . Rockstar seems to treat PC like a joke when it comes to porting games over. there is not even decent graphics quality and frame rate options in 3D era games
EDT : Since this got extra attention from DS . if you look up PS2 mods for the PC ports of the 3D era games they will show you the full list of differences. i think there was a post for it in gta forum
The older games need a fix but will never get one. I have went out of my way and downloaded a bunch of mods until I got rid of all the issues and I've gotta say it runs flawlessly and you know what? It wasn't even Rockstar who made these fixes. Rockstar owes us big time.

I remember this one event from a few years ago before the Diamond and Cayo came out that left me feeling disgusted and lied to. When I was opening up the game I got an ad saying "Just for you: Shark Cards will give 70% (or something that high up) extra if you purchase them." Thinking it was a loyalty thing or something along those lines as I had played since Day One back in 2013, I go and try to find my card to buy one, as I had never bought a shark card before. It took me longer then the afk timer allowed by the time I got back, so I joined a new session ready to purchase one. It was then that I got another loading screen with "Just for you: Shark Cards will give you 25% more if you purchase them."
I put my card back in my wallet and have not paid for a single thing from Rockstar save for Red Dead 2 when that came out, I really felt lied to.
