This video reminded me how I once felt about gta games. I've played every single gta since vice city and every single one of them had some kind of magic to them. I've been playing a lot of gta online recently and the world there just doesn't feel the same even tho it's basically almost identical to gta 5 single-player world. It's just something about online that is off, I feel like something is missing there. But then again online experience and single-player experience is different I guess. Thanks for making me feel the magic I once felt from these games for at least half an hour.
I feel like online players are the ones breaking the immersion. In SP, you are on your own and the world and NPCs are your playground, you feel like you're part of their world from their point of view. Online, you quickly realize the whole playground, the whole world is nothing but a facade for other players to hunt you down and kill you, so you're constantly watching your surroundings in search of other players. Surviving gta online requires us to learn to differentiate players from NPCs, and over so many years, it has become so wired in our brains. To me, online world feels like the matrix, where I treat NPCs as completely insignificant, an obstacle at best. It feels gray compared to SP.
GTA Online's world is massively downgraded as far as NPC events. The uniquely animated activities which bring all its pockets to life are all but gone, on top of the much lower pedestrian and traffic densities. After a month of it back in 2013, I just couldn't take it anymore.
What really made a big impact to the immersion is the Manual and Map they gave you with the boxed games. The Manual was a tour guide to say the least and the Map was unique. VC and SA for me felt like a world on its own.
Grand Theft Auto No Way Home: imagine all main characters and villains in a same universe like spiderman: 2D universe 3D universe HD universe Sure Catalina would be the green goblin of the antagonist.
When the games came out on the PSP I was delivering pizza at the time I would turn my PSP on plugged my headphone jack into the car. Listen to Grandtheft auto radio while I delivered pizza better than real radio 100%.
THE sad part is that RP servers are the only alternatives to gta online and its BS magical flying vehicles. I tried a few, and you cannot just play around listening to music while doing missions and objectives with friends, people will come to you and expect to be roleplayed, even when you are not in the mood. Ive even been put in jail by moderators 2 time juste because i was roaming around minding my own business and exploring the servers while not in the mood to be stopped by random roleplayers to entertain them with fancy stories.
I'll admit that i... actually haven't played the game so i lack knowledge, but isn't there anything like private servers or something like that? and if there aren't then there surely has to be a mod or something that adds them right?
@@pigaboyAKAthecoolestguyonearth I think there has been a few servers since then that mirror GTAO content without forcing you to RP. I remember reading the article in tv tropes about the radio in gta. a couple of interesting jokes are that in chatterbox some guys who hate the internet mention that they tried training pidgeons to send messages but abandoned the plan because they keep dissapearing. in another call other guys says that he hunts pidgeons but found weird to see notes attached to them. that and one of the radio host in gta 3 also appears in vice city... also as a radio host. there si mentions that she plans to eventually move to bigger things that a mere radio host... looks like she got stuck as a radio host lol my favorite is that in liberty city stories the guy who won for mayor made the promise that even thou he is going to finish the bridges he is not going to left the people who works on the ferrys out of a job... yeah 3 years later on gta 3 the ferrys are long gone.
it blew my mind when Vice City came out and had so many little references to III. World building just wasn’t super prominent outside of major franchises like the Mario games. especially when I realized Toni from Flash FM was the same Toni that hosted Flashback FM 🤯
Even movies and shows will make up fake car brands sometimes. Automakers are real touchy about how their products are presented, hence lots of license-based racing games having no body damage. It's a mix of smart business and fun worldbuilding how GTA's always made up fake brands.
If the Burnout series had licensed cars the games would lose their charm for me, not only that but the damage models would suck. If anything I really like the fictional cars of Burnout games, particularly Burnout Paradise. I’ve always loved their designs for some reason.
Having fictional cars in open world games is indeed mix of smart business and fun, but also allow developers to name them whatever they like and make every parts such as bumper, doors, trunk, hood, side mirrors, etc fully detachable. I like how open worlds like Burnout, Grand Theft Auto, Just Cause, Saints Row,, Sleeping Dogs, Watch_Dogs has fictional brands, often parodying real life brands and/or even combining multiple brands. Bogen from Watch_Dogs seem to be multiple European cars and brands combined, for example Bogen 200 seems to besed off a Ford Ka, while Bogen 50 is based off a MINI Cooper. Vapid from GTA is clearly based off Ford, but they do take inspiration from Chevrolet and Dodge. Strangely Youga Classic isn't even made by Vapid, despite being based off a Ford Econoline
The stand up acts and tv shows in GTA 4 are still some of my favorite content. I love the history of the city videos, although of memory serves (and that's no sure bet) I seem to recall they never finished the series with the DLC
Hey dude. Remember to delete commandline file from your GTA v directory. Playing grand rp will put it there, it will lover your gta v graphic setting to normal, and when you delete it, you can put your graphics back to high. I see from your video that your texture quality is normal
One thing that stood out 19:56 is he said GTA IV introduced street names which takes away the fact that Grove St. was a thing in GTA San Andreas and to my memory, there were other streets named in that game, years before GTA IV Other than that, amazing video
Love your videos. Love gta since the OG. pißßwasser is pronounced piss-vasser. Wasser being the German word for water and pißß almost certainly meaning urine. Fun fact. Even in their newest games, the devs still care about making the world's as perfect as possible, the rockstar higher-ups are the reason the online systems are complete dogshit
The things that was wrong in Gta 5 are the developers fault. You think higher ups are the reason that we have to do so much to fix gta or something? The higher ups are preventing them from fixing it, yes, but a developer had to create it first..
@@war_devourer9618 1: Yes...And the higher up ordered it. I'm willing to give the devs the benefit of the doubt, all that considered on top of the major hate and criticism the comparative skeleton crew working on online is getting for doing their best. One of (I think) the most funniest commercials is in San Andreas. It's a proposition whereas the smoke by smoking kills or something like that. The way that the woman says, “You murderer! Despite the age of some of these games now in days. I have to say, Rockstar is probably the first to achieve what the future of gaming were desired to look like when technology was advanced enough to allowed it.
6:57 not really a major complaint but the brand in GTA is Pißwasser with the eszett (ß) making a double s sound. So in pronounciation it would be more like Pisswaser which was chosen by Rockstar for obvious reasons.

GTA 3 Library City though may as well be a different city as the GTA 3 rendition of Liberty City was based on New York City, Philadelphia, Detroit and Baltimore, no overall inspiration from one city in particular. This is very different to most other GTA games like Vice City and San Andreas which features a city based solely on a real world locations with very accurate layouts. buildings, cultures, history and landmarks such as Los Santo's from GTA SA and GTA V being based on L.A. GTA IV rendition of Liberty City was solely inspired by New York City which you can tell right away. Liberty City in GTA 3 is also divided into three boroughs, comprising 25 defined districts and neighborhoods, while having an outskirts of the city all having different names for it's islands, streets, landmarks, gangs, and boroughs compared to the GTA IV counterpart which has four Boroughs all with there own names only connection between these two renditions is the name Liberty City they may as well be separate places. The GTA 3 version is more of a unique city which could've co existed with places like New York kind of like how Gotham City from D.C and Lost Heaven and Empire Bay from Mafia co exist with places like New York and Chicago. With the GTA IV's version it's just a parody of New York meaning it's impossible for New York and other parody cities to exist in the GTA Universe. This pretty much counters out the concept of GTA 3 being in the same continuity as GTA IV as pretty much everything about the city would've had to change in just 5 years at the max with both GTA SA and GTA Vice City using the GTA 3 rendition of Liberty City.
Rockstar only created this "different universes" bullshit because before GTA V was launched people were going crazy over the possibility of CJ being in GTA V because the game was set in San Andreas,it's just a lame excuse to not bring back old characters and deal with their voice actors, all the games are connected.
When you hang out with either Jimmy or Lamar, They'll sometimes talk about how Grove Street used to belong to the families. Also an npc in the area nearby can say 'OG Johnson' which is a reference to Sweet. Also in franklin's house there is a gold record with OG Loc on it.
its what make me play gta5 even if not playing online.. the detail and parody in its world, every single things from a simple sign is a parody of something, the design and immersion is so great its the perfect Role playing world if you want.. am sure do it won't denied it.. 2 hours doing nothing and listening or watching their tv is great time spent.. ❤📺👍🙂
Sorry to be That Guy but it's pronounced "Pisswasser", the ß represents a double s (not a b) so translated it means "piss-water". Outstanding video otherwise. Crammed full of as much affection and detail, much like the universes it discusses. Kudos, gentlemen!
no one talks about gta vice city stories and vice city, the story behind the two and how they link and the characters is just amazing. I grew up playing vcs on the psp and played vice city after and was shocked to know that vic vance died at the start. Personally i think its the best gta out them all
I love how you can play GTA peacefully, just going out with friends or driving around and hitting jumps with fast cars or investing in stocks, listening to music, flying around, or exploring the world.
Amazing video, but it just makes me sad that the R* of yesterday is no more; at least we’ve all grown up with the amazing quality of gameplay R* once gave us.
Indeed great overall video. They managed to create a world within a world and have filled it with everything real life can provide. Great edit, voice overs and such!
I absolutely love how the GTA 1 soundtrack seems to go above and beyond what is normally expected of a video game soundtrack. It’s just an analogue of different music and formats, but it completely blows it out of the water. It’s like an LSD trip in audio form. It’s like it has the quality of a big long budget production crammed into 7 minute segments. It’s just incredible! And sends shivers down my spine!
For me, San Andreas was peak emersion. I might need to make a video on how I feel about that game 😅 1:06 In the recent online DLC, Franklin talks about events from San Andreas so I think they were either just dropping it as fan service or they gave up on that hardline between the 3D and HD universes.
I bought the GTA: SA soundtrack on CD back in the day and would listen to it in my car all the time and would hear something new or something I never noticed before every time I listened to it.
The immersion is completely gone especially in online. Got on recently for the first time in a while for the new dlc its literally all children and man childs flying around on oppressors blowing you up. I'm pretty much done with it ruined a perfectly decent game.
Ditto, Got on today, Half the Lobby sounded like children, and bloody hell, the mk2s are relentless. Just trying to make cash is basically, try to survive every mk2 who can see your location
Plus with more recent DLCs they’re bringing more real life characters and brands now into GTA Online and making them centric around the game and breaking immersion of the fake logos and not making satirical characters anymore. Every DJ back then was a parody of real life but now it’s like they want to imitate it instead of doing their own thing
One thing I feel they really missed out on in gta 5 was car dealerships from gta 4 it would make buying cars more realistic than just ordering it off a phone you could give us the option buy it there and test drive the car before buying so you know if you want to buy it I wish they would make that a thing
And before anyone’s says LS Car meet and auto shop stfu it’s not the same it’s like a slap in the face to the people who want the feature there’s serval used car dealership locations that they could let us buy like a business and renovate it too an actual dealership and we can sell cars to Npcs and other players online with ways to set the pricing similar forza horizons auction house that’s another way they could make cars buyable too in a more realistic way than ordering it off a damn iFruit phone even tho now with stuff like carvana (or However you spell it) it’s becoming more of a reality
I having problem with some rtards that says all of them takes place in the same universe. Even some said that RDR takes place in the same universe as GTA, but if you think about people doesn't theorize the multiverse of this series. The time travel guy from RDR2 is not just time travel, he is also a multiverse traveller. That makes, you can see in the figures in the wall that he gets to portal to several timelines.
I recall in rdr2 Dutch mentions they get money and get a ship to New York. Not liberty city. Which means that there should be a New Orleans in rdr2 but there is saint denis. It’s weird what they choose to keep true and fake.
@@lix0347 Seems like Rockstar can't figure out RDR should've real name or fiction. I don't get why Rockstar using real life city names instead of fictional names like Liberty City?
@@lix0347 Yeah if you read books for example Otis Miller and the Boy from New York it even mentions famous New York landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge while a few characters mention Manhattan. Liberty City was also named "Liberty City" around the time of the American Revolutionary War (GTA IV lore) nearly 200 years before the events of RDR1 and RDR2 so if Liberty City did exist they would've mentioned it instead of New York.
They could be the same universe, but that would mean New York exists alongside Liberty City. Which I don't really have a problem with, plenty of real places get referenced in GTA and even seen with London and Manchester. Not to mention music artists that come from New York are on the radio. They could be like sister cities but they exist in the same world. But that's just if the two games are set in the same world. If they aren't then no matter really. Manhunt and Bully exist in the GTA 3D universe so maybe Read Dead can exist in GTA HD's universe.
Fr. I don't even gun down npcs. I just explore the world and go about my business unless attacked. I am amazing at the extra effort of adding all this in-house advertisments.
25:37 actually those lights are called "ufolights" in the game's files. There are three files on the GTA:SA disk called "ufolight1" and "ufolight2" and "ufolight3", nothing about a plane.
i hope gta 6 is more immersive than 5, i want to be able to enter every single shop and building in the game, and interact with a solid 80% of NPCs in a bigger capacity then them just grunting if i hit them. i hope R* adds some things to the main game that you could do in gta 5 roleplay like actually get a job or own a buisness where you have to actually hire staff and run it professionally. Just little details like that makes all the difference. if gta 6 takes 10 years to make and we dont get any sort of realistic aspects that make gta 5 look like a tech demo then imma be real sad.
The eplison also owns the fib and the lspd. If u look at the lspd logo u can se the eplison logo in it which means it is corrupt. The fib building has teves where the eplison program shows up if u shoot the tv screen in game in a fib office
And this is why GTA VI will release in 2036. If you've kept up with who has left Rockstar and the trend of Take Two and Rockstar with their business model since the release of GTA V back in 2013 you'll realize that the soul of what made Grand Theft Auto into "GTA" has already left. Lawsuits and lack of creative direction has postponed whatever progress you think they've made, the truth is it's not even in development. Since the launch of GTA online Rockstar has had absolutely no reason to make anything new or to care. This level of immersion will never be felt again. Take Two and Rockstar are solely in it for the money now. It's obvious from the lackadaisical dlc for online and outsourcing "The defective edition" to Grove Street Games. Triple-A gaming is dead and we have no one to blame but ourselves and these weak ass companies and developers that we steadily throw money at for unfinished games. Don't trust Rockstar going forward. That would be my only advice.

It feels gray compared to SP.
lower NPC population in online, if you're on console, lower frames and worse graphics in online too
Also, no animals in online.
GTA Online's world is massively downgraded as far as NPC events. The uniquely animated activities which bring all its pockets to life are all but gone, on top of the much lower pedestrian and traffic densities. After a month of it back in 2013, I just couldn't take it anymore.
@@ONomeManeiro They did that for better performance but yeah, I still miss running over cattles with Trevor's truck.
What really made a big impact to the immersion is the Manual and Map they gave you with the boxed games. The Manual was a tour guide to say the least and the Map was unique. VC and SA for me felt like a world on its own.

I would say rockstars creativity when it comes to their open worlds like this, is why people still play the game
I remember reading the article in tv tropes about the radio in gta. a couple of interesting jokes are that in chatterbox some guys who hate the internet mention that they tried training pidgeons to send messages but abandoned the plan because they keep dissapearing. in another call other guys says that he hunts pidgeons but found weird to see notes attached to them. that and one of the radio host in gta 3 also appears in vice city... also as a radio host. there si mentions that she plans to eventually move to bigger things that a mere radio host... looks like she got stuck as a radio host lol
my favorite is that in liberty city stories the guy who won for mayor made the promise that even thou he is going to finish the bridges he is not going to left the people who works on the ferrys out of a job... yeah 3 years later on gta 3 the ferrys are long gone.
it blew my mind when Vice City came out and had so many little references to III. World building just wasn’t super prominent outside of major franchises like the Mario games.

Even movies and shows will make up fake car brands sometimes. Automakers are real touchy about how their products are presented, hence lots of license-based racing games having no body damage.
It's a mix of smart business and fun worldbuilding how GTA's always made up fake brands.
Midnight Club:Hehe lamborghini go ➡️↩↗️↪↩⬅️↖️💥💥💥

@@war_devourer9618
1: Yes...And the higher up ordered it. Thats like getting upset at a fast food employee when you can hear the manager yelling at them to do it the way you don't like it.
2: Time restrictions exist, plus most of the team is likely going full power on their next project, plus they put out the monster projects: red dead 2 and GTA 5 in a single decade, plus they went through major changes of hands in the company in the last five years, plus they've had several management issues iirc. I'm willing to give the devs the benefit of the doubt, all that considered on top of the major hate and criticism the comparative skeleton crew working on online is getting for doing their best.

There's so many great and funny examples but this one stands out.

I still believe all GTA games take place in the same universe, just different eras.
I mean, with how many hints R* gave about them being in the same world, it's basically confirmed
i think parallel universes. Like CJ definitely exists in V universe, but not the one who broke into Area 69.
@@wendellnovais Saying that both Universes are connected is stupid.

For me, San Andreas was peak emersion. I might need to make a video on how I feel about that game 😅
1:06 In the recent online DLC, Franklin talks about events from San Andreas so I think they were either just dropping it as fan service or they gave up on that hardline between the 3D and HD universes.
It can be two universes still. If a city can get two universe equivalents then so can people and events. Clones of each other sort of.

I bought the GTA: SA soundtrack on CD back in the day and would listen to it in my car all the time and would hear something new or something I never noticed before every time I listened to it.

Plus with more recent DLCs they’re bringing more real life characters and brands now into GTA Online and making them centric around the game and breaking immersion of the fake logos and not making satirical characters anymore.
Manhunt and Bully exist in the GTA 3D universe so maybe Read Dead can exist in GTA HD's universe.

i hope gta 6 is more immersive than 5, i want to be able to enter every single shop and building in the game, and interact with a solid 80% of NPCs in a bigger capacity then them just grunting if i hit them. i hope R* adds some things to the main game that you could do in gta 5 roleplay like actually get a job or own a buisness where you have to actually hire staff and run it professionally.
