  • In this video tutorial, I show you how to compile and create a timelapse from your image sequences on your iPad or iPhone with LumaFusion. There are not a lot of dedicated iOS apps for creating and editing time-lapses on either your iPhone or iPad. However, there are some good tools for mobile content creators and can achieve this via apps such as LumaFusion. I also show you some tools that can make the procedure a little easier and more organized. I show you some tips on how to get your content onto your mobile device and how to render the photo sequence into a timelapse.

    Thanks for the very detailed explanation. There's a workaround if you don't want to fork out the cash for the WD Wireless. I've got a bunch of HDD external drives so just for the sake of connecting and transferring the footage, I don't need a fast drive . Another thing if you intend to stream 4K video etc. But here's what I did - I bought a Verbatim 98243 MediaShare Wireless on Amazon UK for GBP 35, and it works flawlessly with any external HD plugged into it's USB port. It's also got a card reader, it can charge your phone in need, and it's worth every penny.

    Regarding the WD Wireless Pro - Bought one about 6 months ago.This originally looked like such a good idea, but in my instance, not so much. I save the RAW files from my Olympus OMD’s SD card to the WDMPWP. I can view them on my 12.9 iPad Pro through the WD app. The files are labeled “.ORF”. Your video did a good job of how to get them into the LF app, but I can’t figure out how to import to the iPad’s My Photos. The icon will not highlight when the file is selected on the external drive. BUT, I can import the same exact file through a dongle to the iPad directly from the SD card which pretty much defeats the purpose of the WDMPWP for me as far as I can tell. It sure would be nice if I have overlooked something. Thanks. I liked your video a lot and it did give me some ideas to try.

    *Help please understand this. When you select a file on a wireless WD disk in a preview in Luma Fusion and select a part of the video that will be needed to edit the file from the wireless WD disk is copied to the iPad in full size or is only the selected part? Can you look in the Luma Fusion folder where media files are stored in the User Media folder? In the Luma Fusion folder on your iPad are files with the original size or cropped? Thank!*

    Hi, great video again, your style is so clear and concise when presenting. I would warn against the WD My Passport Wireless Drive (not the SSD Version as I do not own this version). The WD My Passport does not stream from the drive to your iPad or Phone without huge lagging issues. In my experience it plays about 10 seconds then lags for 10 seconds before continuing. For me this makes it unusable for my editing on Luma. It also lags in the same way when viewing on the WD App. Very disappointing. I use a GoPro H7 and had expected it to stream seamlessly. I would not recommend it. So your comment about streaming easily is incorrect I am afraid. Great videos though. Thanks.

    Hey man great video, but I’ve got a problem when trying to make a time lapse on LumaFusion. Ive followed all your steps and everything seems to work perfectly until I drag and drop my photos onto the timeline. The app seems to turn all the photos I’ve selected into the same photo and not the many different ones that i originally took to make the time lapse. This means I don’t have a time lapse at all and instead just a single still image! Bit weird and I’m sure I’m doing something wrong, would be greatful for your help. Thanks man :)

    Great video just one question I have been thinking of getting the new 5th generation iPad mini, was wondering if the 256gb the biggest they have in that line is to small to edit video with. What model IPad pro you have in regards to it being the latest memory wise?
    Timelapses would be easy to do but editing 4k video on 256mb how much is left in operating systems and how to would 64gb should not even be considered?

      The iPad mini fifth generation would be just fine for editing footage. I myself I’m using the iPad Pro 12.9 but at times I do find it a little big. I wouldn’t recommend going any lower than the 256 GB model as you know 4K footage Can eat up space pretty quick

      K Jones yep I am hugely disappointed with it. I wanted to be able to view the video in Luma Fusion and drag in the clips I wanted to to time line. The only way to do it now is drag in the entire video and then cut out what I need. I was hoping that the drive would means I would not have to fill my iPad memory with the entire videos. Think I’m going to get a refund. The videos on RUclips do not have this problem.

  • @OzzySafa
    @OzzySafa 5 лет назад

    Great video I love watching how these WD drives connect to Lumafusion. I always thought they work off the drive at all times I didn't know that it imports into the files app. When you set an in and out point of a video and drop that video to the timeline does it only store the in and out point to the ipad or the whole original clip?

    • @ShadowBoxer
      @ShadowBoxer 5 лет назад

      I heard it imports the whole clip but it only shows you what you want in your timeline. This is good and bad. Good because if you find you want to make small adjustments (plus or minus a few seconds, etc.) it’s already there available to expand, etc. Bad because it is using more memory of course while you are editing and it will take that little bit longer to transfer. Still seems reasonable to me.
