    Slumming it by doing animation on those old fashioned DSLR Cameras, good job that you aren’t old enough to remember using Super 8 with single frame exposure switches, and if you were lucky an intervalometer if you could find or afford one!

      This might not be the best app for that as it will make the final result a fairly short video. You should consider other dedicated timelapse apps like SkyFlow. But you could try with this and just be sure to use power to your phone or a USB battery otherwise it won’t last.

    • @iphoneographers

    Good info, thanks! But why use time lapse instead of just video?

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  3 года назад

      Well in this case timelapse is just video, not a series of photos. However the way it’s captured is completely different than just speeding up video. So it actually looks different and it will make your file size much smaller too. Say you’re recording a 30 minute clip that would be a 30 minute long video clip and a timelapse video would be a fraction of that run time. Thanks for watching!

  • @reginadefaoite
    @reginadefaoite 4 года назад

    Hiya, Im doing a sponsored 24hr readathon and I’d like to make a time lapse of it. I’d like to be able to just film the whole way through so it’s one continuous clip, but do you think it will be far too rushed if the whole thing ends up 20-40 seconds? I’d like a 4 or 5 minute clip that didn’t take up too much storage on my phone. I know this is so picky, but do you have any tips for that or any apps that would work well? Would there be a chance my phone would make a clip that’s a few minutes long rather then 40 seconds? I’m also concerned about the video being too long. Really sorry for being annoying, lovely video by the way

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 года назад +1

      For shooting something that long wouldn’t really recommend using a phone. You’ll need to power it for sure as battery won’t last that long while shooting. So a GoPro or traditional camera would be best. If your phone is your choice then use an app like Filmic Pro where you can set the interval, meaning how often it captures a frame. For something that long would probably set it to 30 seconds. Then you’ll get 120 frames per hour and so 2880 frames total. Then if you do 24fps playback for your editing you’d have a 2 minute timelapse. Or if you want more frames do one every 15 or 10 seconds. There are dedicated timelapse apps too like SkyFlow. Good luck!

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  3 года назад

      Yes with dedicated timelapse apps like Skyflow, although probably not the best use for the phone because of battery and depending on the location - overheating. If you go with a phone definitely test it first or you might consider a GoPro or a traditional camera.

    What is the benefit of recording in timelapse mode in comparason whit recording in normal mode and speed up the video (i guess the memory space saving is the only benefit because of much lower frame rate)? And yes, sory if my english is litle broken XD. Thansk a lot!!

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 года назад

      That’s one reason, sort of, but just speeding up the video isn’t technically a timelapse since you have every frame recorded. With timelapse you record a frame every few seconds or sometimes every minute and so it will look different too.

      When using the native app it automatically sets the speed depending on how long you shoot the timelapse, so it can vary. Try shooting something with good motion and for 10 minutes and see what happens.
